I ordered a chicken and catfish box and a side of Mac and cheese. The order was ready as promised and nice and hot. The portion sizes are huge! The chicken tenders and big and juicy and my catfish was huge. I loved the juiciness of the chicken tenders. I felt they need a bit more seasoning. The catfish was a great texture and tasty, but a bit salty for my preference. The fries were average. The mac and cheese had decent flavor, but on the soggy side. One of the delicious restaurants of the chain. Got the chicken box, which was super good. IMO stands up to the rest of the ones in town. I am marking points off for the Mac and cheese though, it was pretty oily and flavorless - would not recommend. I have heard so many good things about Hip Hop Fish and Chicken. Multiple people have told me that it was one of the best fried chicken places in Baltimore. As a Kentuckian, I could not have been more disappointed. Fried chicken should be a perfect balance between a crispy, flavorful skin with a juicy interior. This chicken, however, was dry and overly salted. The one upside was the use of lemon salt, which added a zesty kick to an otherwise disappointing meal. This location is absolutely terrifying. The flickering fluorescent white lights is reminiscent of scenes from American Horror Story. And the drunk homeless men that were inside were equally terrifying. Will not go here again. read more

This Hip Hop Fish & Chicken is a corner/carry-out store, located on Eutaw. Parking is a bit of a pain, but there are some 3-minute 'loading' areas where you can park to get your order. I highly suggest in calling ahead so that your order will be ready for you, as lines tend to get long! The hubs and I stopped by here after attending an event in the area; I got my original Half and Half, in which you are given the cup of the size that you ordered - there is actually a Half and Half dispenser by the soda machine. I loved that the dispenser keeps the drink super cold, so those who are not fans of adding much ice to their drink, the drink will still be cold and refreshing! I've always been a fan of their Half and Half, as it has that nice HHF&C tang! You can refill as much as you want and go on your merry way. There aren't any seatings inside, as it's only a carry-out joint. I am so not a fan of this place. I figured I would give it a try because of the new location. I called my order in before pick up. To find out they have something listed on the menu that they didn't have which was thighs. Why even have it on the menu? How are you going to be a new business and you don't have something. The best thing was the half & half which is the only reason I give them two stars. The fries I could take or leave but, the wings that were as big as my pinky fingers so not good. They can have this place. I don't think I will be returning. I was never a fan of Hip Hop and now I am even more convinced to leave them alone. Uhoh. Another formerly good review has been busted down to a mere two stars. What HAPPENED here? Sweet Husband Mine and I rarely partake of fried food any longer, especially fried chicken. However, I had a serious craving for the stuff not too long ago, and I convinced SHM to go up to the corner and bring back a single piece of fried chicken - no fries, no fatty sides. Just a piece of chicken. When I bit into it, I just.... wasn't impressed. The coating was stiff, harsh, almost burned. The chicken breast was NOT the generous helping that I got used to from almost every HHF&C I've been to - as a matter of fact, it was downright miserly in size. I was bitterly disappointed. It's rare that I can have such a delicacy anymore, due to my diabetes - so when I do indulge, I want it to be incredibly sinful and ohsogood. This piece of chicken was NOT worth a carb spike. Again - what HAPPENED here? I hope that it's just this location with this problem and not all of them. It could be that my tastes have changed and that I don't actually -gasp! - LIKE fried chicken anymore, but I doubt that's it. I'll have to try another location to be sure. But I do know this - we won't be back to the North Eutaw store. Definitely a letdown. read more

The 3 stars is ONLY because my father and husband like this place and it does seem that the food is consistent. It's very rare that I'll get something from here for myself. I ordered and paid for a 3 piece whiting dinner for my father through Yelp at 4:30. I purposely made the pickup time for 5:30. I got the confirmation email which stated that my order would be ready between 5 and 5:20. "Oh cool!", I thought when I got the notification...only it wasn't. I got there at 5:30 and unfortunately I was 2 minutes too late to beat the 4 people going in ahead of me so I still had to wait for them to order. I chose to wait outside because the space is FAR too small to feel comfortable during a pandemic with 4 people plus myself and the 2 workers behind the counter in such a tiny space. When the 4 finally left, I told the guy I ordered through Yelp (while showing him my phone) and he looked at me like I had 3 heads. At that point it was 5:40 and he STILL HAD TO PUT MY ORDER TOGETHER! I went outside to wait because the place smells of chicken, fish & oil and stays in your clothes and hair long after you've left if you're not careful. I went back inside, he asked if I already paid and wanted to know how much. I told him the amount + the tax AND THE TIP and he proceeds to tell me that if I had ordered over the phone, it would have been cheaper. Really?? The sad part is that no one from Hip Hop will look at nor care about this review. Let the buyer beware. I'm so tempted to tell my father that this location no longer exists. read more

This place is usually packed or has a line for mostly good reasons. Everything they serve is delicious and tasty. Personally, they have the best fries in Baltimore. The chicken is delicious. The fish is delicious and I'm not even a fish eater! Generous portions all around and very good prices and take advantage of their combos so you get the most for your money. Now the place is small so you might be waiting outside if there is a line. That's really one reason why I'm giving this place 4 stars is that waiting outside in the cold is not fun. read more

I was in the mood for fattening food after ending a 3-week cleanse and I'm so glad I picked this place. Nothing fancy, just got 3 wings and french fries. Very cheap with a nice portion size. Wished I asked for extra seasoning on the chicken but I was cooked well and very flavorful. My favorite part had to be the fries though. Golden, crispy exteriors with creamy potato-y interior. Smh, I might have to swing by and get some today cuz now I'm reminiscing. They take cards as payment and the wait wasn't that long. I love the customer service...I got the 2 meat dinner meal ( whiting and chicken wings)...the meat has sugary/salty taste to it which was different but taste SOOOOO good! Definitely a lot of food for the money. They make it fresh, which means your food is hot when you get home. They sprinkle the seasoning on after its cooked which means some parts are flavorless. If you want a quick fried fix at a cheap price I'd say go. read more

I would've given this place no star if possible. Past thursday was the first time that i gave this place a try. Ordered the chicken beast dinner for lunch. This consists of 2 chicken breasts, fries, and 2 slices of toast. Ok, so the dude forgot to put in the toast, no problem. The following today i went back in for the same meal cause it's close by from work. It came with toast, that's great! However, i noticed, they peel back the chicken skin, and shaves off most of the chicken meat (thought at the time was probably used that for their chicken strips). Pretty much sold me bones with some meat on it. And the chicken looks a bit dark for breast meat. A few hours later i was feeling sick. Got home from work, started to feel weak, exhausted, extreme chills, headache, body aches, and bloated. I ate absolutely nothing on saturday but drank water. Started saturday to present, monday. I am having nonstop bowel movements. I just visited the doctor's office, and she believes i had been food poisoned. Dishonest owners, highly recommended to stay away. read more
