The woman who appears to run the company was professional, followed up with me prior to the moving date (several times because we were initially uncertain about the date) and very pleasant to work with. Three movers arrived in a 26' truck on moving day. They were INCREDIBLE! Each man was kind, professional, organized in their work, and strong. It was such a pleasure to have had the opportunity to work with them. They knew what they were doing and offered suggestions that made setting up our new home that much easier. They were great. I paid cash because Gili the manager or wonder or whatever she is told me it would be less than paying with the card. Her mover refused to give me a receipt for the cash. Claimed that "to be paid" is my receipt. Only after I called her and she screamed at me that she trusts the guy and that he has a key to her house (like I care?) she emailed me: "you paid!!!". i left a $50 tip for each mover. This was our first time using a moving company. I called around and got a number of quotes from the "big guys" and submitted a request for bids through Thumbtack. Gilli from Hippo Movers was very thorough and transparent about the process, the costs, and everything involved. We ended up choosing a different mover who said that they would not charge for any packing materials, and booked them a month out from our move, which was to happen on a Sunday. Come the Friday before the scheduled move, at 6pm that other company (Chaz Movers, affiliated with ACOMCA - look up their reviews, terrible) called me and said they could not do the move on Sunday. He asked if I could do the following Wednesday, which was impossible. I asked him to find me another company/crew/truck - something... and I never heard back. I remembered Gilli from our initial calls and found her number. At 7pm on a Friday, while she was busy with her family dinner, she booked me a crew for that same weekend and at the original rate we had discussed the month before. ***AMAZING customer service!*** On the Sunday, Chris, Emanuel and Daniel (a*k*a the Super Stacker :)) showed up promptly, were extremely communicative, friendly, pleasant to work with and clear about every step of the process. They checked with us every time they needed to add additional packing materials and were so lovely to work with. We had a TON of boxes and they were awesome. When we got to the new house they helped set up everything and even helped bring our new mattress (super heavy) that had been delivered to the house, upstairs. Great experience from beginning to end. Gillie set everything up on the phone for me. She emailed me and called me when she said she would. Very prompt and courteous. The best part of the experience though was Chris and his crew. They were prompt, kind, hard working, and fast! They worked their butts off! Moving is so stressful, but they really took the pressure off. Nothing broken, nothing damaged, excellent work. I can't rave enough about their work! We called Hippo Movers after seeing their truck in the apartment complex we were moving from. We have never used a moving company before because we have heard many bad stories of how furniture could be ruined or that the movers could not be trusted. We called and spoke to Gilli wha promptly sent us an estimate. Trying to do our due diligence we then called another company, whose quote was much higher. Since we work 6 days a week, we took a couple of days to decide to go with Hippo. As my husband was reaching for the phone to schedule, guess who called us back! We were impressed that Gilli made a follow up call( something the other company has yet to do). On Tuesday 9/22/20 at promptly 8:30am as scheduled their truck pulled up and the three movers got straight to work. Not only did they move the contents of our 3 bd apartment but the also moved the highly unorganized storage unit FULL of heavy items. Along the way, Walter the crew supervisor continued to advise me of his concerns with several pieces of furniture that had been damaged in our previous move. He and his coworkers Cesar and Victor took care of our possessions as if they were museum quality!! I can assure you they are not! During the entire move these 3 GENTLEMEN worked their tushes off with only a quick lunch break. Walter is an old soul in a young body. At 26 yrs old he has the knowledge of someone who has spent a lifetime in his trade. Victor is the Master of Tetris! I still don't know how he got so many pieces on one truck! And when it came to moving some super heavy sofas his strength was that of a man half his age!! Cesar is super high energy and suave salesmanship wrapped into a kind spirit!! At the end of the day, after working harder than I've seen anyone recently, these guys still had a smile on their faces and even went so far as to entertain my 2 yr old grandson who LOVES trucks. They did a drive by on the way out and tooted the horn which delighted our little guy! Even though I've just written a novel, I can't say enough good things about this team. I am grateful that they were the ones helping us into our new home and I HIGHLY recommend Hippo Movers. Be sure to ask for these 3 by name-Walter, Victor and Cesar- you won't be sorry! Horrible customer service, misleading price quotes. The lady who says she manages this company (Hawaii Area Code) gave a quote over the phone. She said she prided herself and giving a transparent quote that no other companies will do. Upon the movers arrival, it was discovered that one of the movers had an à la cart list of charges not included in the original quote. Those charges include it separate prices for the TVs separate prices for wrapping furniture separate prices for everything! We called this woman to discuss the price that she had given us. However she began yelling at us telling us we must've misunderstood her and if we didn't like it we can just cancel. I canceled lost $100 but it was worth it the following day I hired a new moving company who are very professional transparent in their pricing and courteous. Do yourself a favor stay away from this dishonest woman. I have to add that the drivers were even apologetic apparently this is not the first time this is happened. Fortunately I had time before I had to move so I can locate another moving company.
