As Dim Sum goes, they are on-par with the standard expectation. Nothing stood out and also not disappointed. The portions appeared to be on the generous side. Whenever I'm in San Jose , I normally go to Lion Supermarket before heading home to the valley. HK Dim Sum is located in the same corner shopping center as Lion . I've eyed them for several years but never stopped in. Today, it was different. I finally went in. Since we're almost a 4 drive home , a light meal would be ideal. We ordered Beef Pan Fried Noodles, Steamed Rice and Gai Lan. Don't let the name of the restaurant fool you. They serve more than just Dim Sum. The Beef Pan Fried Noodles were excellent. I've been coming here for years with my family for their dim sum and porridge and BBQ! Pretty solid joint, only catch is that they're cash only and you'll probably get better service if you can speak Vietnamese or Chinese to the cashiers. But this place is so damn efficient and the food is reasonably priced and it has all my childhood classics, so I'm going to definitely come back. Normally, I just grab take out and eat at home with the family but today we decided to stop in for a sit-in lunch. We got some dim sum classics, chicken feet, preserved egg porridge, hot soy milk, and some chow fun. Everyone in my family was able to have their favorite thing, so everyone was happy! My family and I have been going to this place for years. They have the beat deal and it taste pretty good. It's located in the heart of East San Jose so don't expect fancy decor when you walk in but the place is pretty clean. It's pretty spacious and service isn't terrible. We usually go with my mom and she just demands service so we get our food pretty fast. I recommended the fried chicken wings. It's super juicy and flavorful. Their beef with Chinese broccoli is really good too. They have a 3 dish for $20 or $25 deal. Regardless of what you order, you always get their house soup to start. read more

I came in today with my dad at 5:30pm 4/4/21 to buy some roasted pig. I witnessed the cashier lady handling money and food with the same pair of gloves for a few customers. As our food was boxed, she went to grab a couple of containers of sauce and placed them inside our box on top of our food. I confronted her regarding the issue and she had the audacity to reply rudely "go ahead and file a complaint with the owners so they can hire more employees that way the cashier won't have to handle money and touch your food." I was just shocked and extremely upset. I told her she needs to practice food safety and sanitation then we both left. This is gross and incredibly unsafe especially during covid. Never coming back again. I believe complaining to her employer will not fix the problem but filing a complaint with the health department might fix the issue. read more

One star off because when I came at 7 am they ran out of egg tarts and the food wasnt super hot. Those reviews abt their delivery order not coming out as they expect or the food arriving cold is not surprising as you can tell from their front operations that quality control is low on their list of priorities if it even exist at all. This place is kind of a hole in the wall. Also when dimsum is serve from a window of 6am to 10pm I guess you cant be expecting the food to be pippin fresh and hot all the time. (1st one on Capitol Expressway and 2nd one on Saratoga Ave, all next to Lion Supermarket) This location is ~10-20 cents more expensive than the other two locations. If you are looking for a cheap dim sum place this is it! I have been ordering from here through doordash and its decent! I wish they would add more items on their doordash though. And i also wish they provided real chili oil instead of the packaged ones. Other than that the duck is delicious! So oily and just really good with rice. The har gow is stuffed and obviously not the best but its cheap and i couldnt complain! Ive seen much smaller ones! The steamed custard bun is soooooo goood ! The woman at the cashier, well, she was fast and didn't even give me a chance to speak and she just asked for my money quickly. They were fast and the portions. Was good. It now costs $26.99 for the Choose 3 Dishes option, still a pretty good deal for good food served quickly. Why do I return for just-good food? This place is down the street from a meditation center we regularly visit, so it's convenient to grab a meal before hopping on the 280 back to SF. I continue to give it 4 stars for the consistency and value, btw. We recently had Eggplant w chicken and salted fish, salt n pepper pork ribs, and Singapore noodles, all served with complimentary rice and dishwater broth-what I affectionately call the soup they serve in a big bowl filled with bony mystery meat, dried Chinese dates, and spices. Add a little salt and white pepper and you got yourself a palate cleansing soup in between bites of the standard Chinese fare. Their roasted pig is only aiite, too. The soy sauce chicken is tasty. When you order a 2 or 3 item BBQ combo, it comes with a hefty portion of Chinese broccoli. Dim sum is just ok. It won't beat a sit down restaurant. After 7PM, it's buy two get one free or something like that. Not bad. The noodle dishes are good. We've eaten at the restaurant side. There's so many food options, it gets overwhelming. They have their chef's specials. Then they have this crazy long list of menu items, each dish is $8 OR you can order any three dishes for $20.99. Not bad at all. I like their peking spareribs, intestines with bitter melon, and eggplant. I tried their salt and pepper shrimp and it was like deciding if it wanted to be tempura battered or seasoned. Just not feeling it. My family wanted to eat here because it was advertised on TV all the time. It wasn't bad though I have to say. I love the texture of the food, but it may be too bland for some people's taste. I like it though. We got 3 dishes, but I like the tofu pot the most. The soft tofu was fried and then drenched in sauce. The beef noodle was good, but oily (but all Chinese foods are). The clams were a bit too salty for my taste. Overall, I can taste the freshness of the food because of the texture. On a side note, I really like their menus. It's laminated and bind with pictures of their popular dishes. :D I would give this place a 3.5... it is better than A-OK, but I'm not a huge fan of it either. read more

Solid dim sum and I appreciate the speed that they work, especially since the line can get astronomically long on the weekends. What I would like to see since we're still in a global pandemic, is a better system of organization. The single door to get in and out is ridiculous and causes people to have to get on top of each other to exit. You have double wide doors, please utilize them. Another problem also caused by those damn doors, Doordash orders. There is no way to figure out who is cutting in line and who is here to squeeze through to pick up their order. This causes so much confusion and anger. Not to mention, once again---pandemic, we should be giving each other space through social distancing. By 7p, almost all tables were filled. Food is okay. Not too bad, not too great. Veggies are usually fresh and tasty, but their meat is underwhelming and a bit spongy. My nephew loooooves their Peking ribs, but I think it's disgusting and tastes like a mouthful of sugar. The house soup that comes with the dinner is pretty good.
