10-30-24. BBQ Pork and Roast Pork
    Lloyd C.

New China Station has been around for awhile. It is located right next to Lion Market. It's usually crowded and popular. BBQ Pork - simple syrup or a honey glazed to the pork. It's flavorful and juicy. Roast Pork - crispy skin and tender meat. Well, depending on what part you get. I'd come again! I'd like to try their roast duck next.

30+ years at this location. 27$ per roast duck as of 2/2024. Nobody else below 30$ in 2024. Higher volume than any 99 ranch or any other bbq restaurant outside of sf or oakland chinatown. Haven't found anything more consistent with high volume. Restaurant prices 30-80$ but some include other extras like customized hoisin dipping sauces or buns. Char siu (Xa Xiu) 14.50/lb but was on sale at 9.99/lb with yellow sign near the entrance. Dry. Not worth it; better to make your own. Zero fat in it. In the old days they used pork belly but they can't do that because of cost. They use some cut of pork shoulder or pork butt and mechanically slice it. In the old days there is one part of the pork butt they specifically use for char siu; today they slice the entire cut regardless of where the muscles are. Better to learn to make your own. Haven't found any place in south bay where it is worth buying char siu anymore. Lucas explains at 7.50 the right fatty cut to use for char siu: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkYA_RxuLBw They have enough volume where you don't get 2day old product. Cash only. Limited english. Highest volume bbq in south bay. Many customers from Cupertino, Sunnyvale area

No frills Chinese barbecue store beside Lions. They do not have seats for you to eat. Basically, when you come in, place your order, they chopped it up and you move down the line and pay. Oh, they only take cash. Not sure why others rated it low. There is no ambiance and chairs are stacked to the side. I ordered a pound of barbecue pork and whole roasted duck. The barbecue pork was delicious esp the charred areas. I wish it had a little more fat. The roast ducky was fatty, tender and delicious. Just the way I like it. I'll have to try their roast pork next time! Will be back!

Definitely a hidden gem, hole in the wall, mom and pop shop! This is located to the right of Lion Supermarket in the Lion Plaza. My family have been coming here for a couple decades now and continue to come here for their deli meats. This is the place to go to pick up roasted pork, roasted duck, bbq pork, chicken, and more! Came here on Saturday morning to pick up a whole roasted duck and a couple of roasted pig feet for early Lunar New Year dinner - Yelp says they open at 11am, but there was a line earlier than 10:30am already! In my opinion, they have the best deli meats in San Jose, hands down. They have perfected the marination flavor for the meats and it's always so flavorful and tender. Service is quick. Quality of their food is great. Prices are slightly higher than other places but you get what you pay for. For a whole roasted duck and 2 roasted pig feet, it came out to $32.

Crispy, crunch skin pre-cut bbq pig
    Julienne P.

Ordered their smallest bbq pig and it had a lot of meat. Not too much fat at all. The skin was crispy and crunchy and they pre-cut by request with an additional fee. They rearrange it so that it looks like a whole pig which is aesthetically pleasing. It did have a lot of little bones bits probably due to the bite size cuts. Typically, the 99 Ranch people cut a bit larger but this place cuts a bit smaller. Everyone thought it was very tasty!

New China Station officially closed and removed their business sign.

Sad day. New China Station is now closed. Been coming here for years. Their BBQ was best in the bay.

When it came down to ordering a whole roasted pig for an event, New China Station BBQ was the only place that came to mind. My guy and I arrived 3 days prior to our event and was approached by the lady owner. She immediately went over the cost difference and the sizes of each offering. She recommended for us to purchase a medium whole pig but being the overachievers that's we are, we went for the LARGE. Customer service was great during this visit and the entire process was very quick. A deposit is mandatory on big purchases so come prepared. Pick up was an absolute breeze and the large was definitely overkill for our 80+ guests but the more the merrier right?? 5/5 stars, everyone raves about how delicious it was but I already knew that was gonna be the case. Highly recommended.

1st 3 on left side of the menu: Crispy roast pork, BBQ pork, Peking Duck. I'm not sure what the rest are.

HIDDEN GEM. Literally, a hidden gem. On the maps, it shows this spot to be inside lion supermarket but it is not. This spot is located right next to the right entrance of lion supermarket! It is CASH ONLY. What I love about this spot so far - THE DUCK IS GOOD! Super duper good. The price is reasonable! It was only $11.50 for half a duck! That's cheap for San Jose! Last time I paid close to $15 for half a duck in SJ. Last but not least, they have a lot of duck. Which means this must be what they're known for. They also have roasted crispy pork - which is what I'll come try next time. Please stop by and help them out by ordering their food! I'm pretty sure COVID is taking a toll on a lot of restaurants right now. Plus ample parking! :D Note** I forgot to take a picture of the duck because I was starving lol

This is where I got my whole pig for my Dam Hoi/Vietnamese Engagement Party. The pig was about $260 and then you have to buy some bread. The pig was about 20ish pounds I believe? It was enough to feed 80 people. People were raving about the roasted pig. The white guests at my engagement party really loved it. The skin was nicely crispy. Pork nicely cooked and flavorful. It was the hit of the party! Note: CASH only. And order before hand for the roasted pig- at least

Very decent Chinese bbq. Take out only and no dine in. This is a hole the wall place probably you'll notice when you come by to buy some groceries. Typical you probably don't wanna eat here or see the kitchen place. The food is surprisingly decent. I always come here when I see my dentist at this area. I usually order: Char-siu, flavor is on point. Not overly sweet or salty, what I like about it is that it has a little charred flavor other's don't have. The char-siu here is very lean though. Some might like it, others might find it not tender enough. Roast duck. Also above average. Slightly crispy skin and well flavored duck meat, with minimal unpleasant taste from the duck. It's still tasty when it's gone cold. But, sometimes you get a uneven piece where it's burnt. BBQ wings: Sweet, honey glazed wings which I like a lot, meat is tender and juicy, the wing is also decent sized too. Intestines: No bad odor, which means well cleaned. Good marinated flavor. Overall, decent place if you're nearby

Definitely not in and out kinda BBQ places on weekends. Expect 20 to 30 min on weekend mornings. They seem to have a lot of roast ducks hanging, and almost everyone in front of us was getting half or whole duck. Maybe I'll try that next time. This review is for the soy sauce chicken that I bought. For chickens, 99 Ranch on Hostetter has them way better!

Ask the Community - New China Station

Google says they open 9:30. What are their current hours?

Don't trust the google posted hours. They are open for business during the day, but for specific open and closing times - I call that day or the day before and ask on the phone. Be prepared to speak in a language other than English.

Do they still sell roast chicken?

How difficult is it to order from this restaurant if you only speak English?

You'll be fine. There are always a mix of non-Chinese/VN speaking customers and they get what they need just fine.

What time is it opened? Google says 930 am but yelp says 11 am.. anybody visiting recently?

But here's a tip: the phone is unreliable- your best bet for an order would be to come in person**** Portion servings are always way more than you need- there's a TON of value for the price point they give; one of the top reasons of why I always keep coming back. The food is delicious! Definitely recommend the bbq chicken fried rice and sweet and sour pork. Seating area is more so just for waiting for pickup. No sit down and eat since tables are stacked up. We walked in right at opening to a completely empty dining room. Instead of leaving, we browsed the menu and ordered XLB, pot stickers, jelly fish, and pea sprouts (my personal fav) so glad we didn't leave! The XLB are a nice size, with each precious dumpling cradled in its own foil wrapper for maximum soup retention. The potstickers were full of flavor, packed with protein, delicately wrapped, and had the crispiest, golden bottoms! Jelly fish was fresh and the pea sprouts were a hit! The poor owner answering the phones made sure (in all languages) to inform folks calling in that there were a different May Flower than the other place-felt terrible for her but also understood the importance of differentiating right up front. I can only imagine the number of misorders they have probably dealt with. By the time we were done, the dining room was filled with a mix of what seemed like regulars, locals, large groups of families, small groups of friends... this feels like we stumbled upon a tiny hole in the wall restaurant where everyone who has been before just knows the quality and taste they are going to be getting! Highly recommend you check this place out for a dine in or take out order!

This is one of the handful of American Chinese restaurants that stood the test of time. As is typical of these places, there was an old lady manning the counter and also acting as the server. And as is typical of these places, there was table at the end where they were prepping the fruits and veggies. It's truly remarkable how they are all similar in these ways! We got a couple of dishes and they came out at lightning speed. * Chowmein-3/5- delicious with lots of umami flavor but shockingly greasy. I mean I am used to oily noodles but this one exceeded some limits. *crispy salt and pepper eggplant-3/5- I had a stellar version of this dish at another restaurant in Sunnyvale and was stoked when I saw this on the menu here. Unfortunately it was a poor representation of the dish I loved there. The batter was too much and the dish felt heavy. The hot oil or sauce they had felt old and extremely vinegary as well, I would recommend avoiding it.
