Had a great time enjoying dim sum. They gave a huge menu with lots of options. There's a line outside so recommend to go earlier to get your seat. Service is very fast and quick. The restaurant is big enough to host wedding banquets. Lots of lighting and huge screens. Felt very modern Chinese restaurants
My second time here for lunch. There's no wait on a weekday last time. 3 of us came here on Saturday around noon, and had to wait for about 20 minutes for a table, which wasn't bad at all. Even though their parking lot had a lot of cars, it's so big that there're still plenty of spaces. Their inside was huge as well. Because of the high ceiling, it didn't feel too crowded, even though it was packed. They had a lot of servers, too, though getting the attention of one took a while. Our server highly recommended their sea bass 2 ways (congee and chow fun) on their daily special menu. We would have ordered that if they still had fish at ~2lb, but they only had fish at ~3lb, which would be too big for us, as we would like to order some dim sum as well. So, we just ordered from their dim sum menu. The 2 different house teas we ordered came out pretty quickly, but it took a while for the food to come. The Sauteed Turnip Cake in XO Sauce was the dish I liked the most. It could still use more XO sauce, though. Pork & Crab Roe Siu Mai was gigantic; taste was normal. I wished they had chili sauce at the table. We're too busy catching up and didn't bother to flag down someone to get some. The Fried Bean Curd Skin Roll w/ Shrimp was not bad, just a bit oily. The Fried Chinese Donut Wrapped in Rice Noodle w/ Dried Shrimp was on point; it came with a peanut sauce on the side. The Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce were well cooked and off the bones. The Salted Egg Yolk Lava Black Bun wasn't too sweet; the inside was more runny than we expected. We're already stuffed after having 6 dim sum dishes. Overall, dim sum was solid, but on the more expensive side. While their service was typical for a Chinese restaurant in the Bay Area, they did apply a 16% service charge to the bill automatically, which was stated on their menu.
Not your traditional Hong Kong style dim sum place. The Resturant tries to emphasize higher quality dishes and adds in additional elements to "dress it up". It's fine if you're in to that but I was hoping for a back to basics place. Service was great; Resturant was clean; and food was good. Was pricey for a dim sum regular spot but is good for a one off experience.
Had a wonderful experience dining here for a weekend wedding! HL is part of an Asian plaza and has lots of parking. It's a grand space as expected for a Chinese restaurant. The service staff were fast and efficient in cleaning up finished plates and placing the apps and entrees of the set menu. The bartenders were great and friendly with the drink service. The venue has a dessert container with notable brands like Haagen-Dazs and melona bars. The whole restaurant was grand that can occupy a stage, projectors, and lots of fun lights. The food was a great set menu primary of seafood dishes like abalone, lobster noodles, seafood salad, and so much more. Great experience!
They have some really good dishes like their fried rice and their fish-based soups (seafood is great here). My favorite thing is still when you request a fresh fish and it gets prepared multiple ways however you need a large party. The kicker is I've been here 3 times across a couple years now: 1st time was phenomenal, 2nd time we ordered what the waiter recommended and it was both expensive and terrible tasting. This recent time we had 2 out 3 good dishes, the 3rd one did not match the photo at all:
Came here with 11 people and bill came out to $355 with tip which is decent in this day and age. We ordered a lot of different dishes but they said they ran out of Chow fun so had to replace it with a different noodle dish but then ended up not brining it till we were done eating everything else. Some notes - The steamed dumpling skins tended to stick to each other and break while picking them up. The spare ribs were tender but a little bland. Needed black beans The shui mai are good but a little too fluffy which makes me think they have a lot of fat in them. The steamed rice rolls were nice. The gai lan was a bit fibrous and tough. The stir fried snow pea shoots with bean curd skin was a little bland. The durian puffs were good!
We usually come here with a big group and get a room reservation, then order the set menu. The restaurant is always bustling on weekends, so without a reservation, would definitely expect a wait time. The dim sum carts have large variety and are fresh and fast, but the set menu helps alleviate the chaos and the decision of having to pick what to get haha. The food gets delivered fast and is fresh. The set menu has a large variety of different foods, from meat like duck and sweet / sour chicken, to veggies like mushroom and snap peas, to seafood like fish and lobster and scallops, as well as soup and fried rice. The food is served in waves, so there's always a new dish on the table every 5-10 minutes. The portions are massive! We always have plenty of leftovers to last us the rest of the weekend. Everything is tasty and seasoned well. My personal favs are the fried pumpkin, lobster noodles, and scallops, although all dishes were hits. Will definitely be back for the next group gathering!
* Visited on a Sunday with a party of 2- the wait was about 20 minutes Surprisingly, this was my first visit to HL Peninsula and I loved it. The portions are great and everything was tasty & delicious. The staff were quick to help us out and get our order in. I appreciate the fact that there was PLENTY of seating, and that the restaurant is quite spacious. OKAY THE FOOD: * Dim sum STAPLES - You can't go to dim sum and NOT GET SIU MAI. I wish I ordered more but we had ordered a good amount of other items to try. The siu mai was the perfect size too, not overly large or small. * Chicken feet with black bean sauce- 20/10. Loved it and loved the fact that it wasn't smothered in the sauce. * Turnip cake - I absolutely love a good fried turnip cake. It was seared great and tasted amazing. If a dim sum restaurant can't make a good turnip cake... you gotta go somewhere else. * XO Rolls - it was very tasty and cooked well! It was seasoned amazing and had the perfect sear to some rolls while maintaining its flavor.
Cane here with a party of 3 for Father's Day, got quickly seated in a side room unfortunately rather than the main area where we could browse carts. We ordered our usual: shrimp rolls, shrimp dumplings, sui mai, salted fish and chicken fried rice, chicken feet. Unfortunately literally every dish came before the sui mai and shrimp dumplings (seriously? its the most popular dish). I'll start off with the good dishes because honestly there were so little, the two best dishes were the siu mai and chicken feet. The siu mai was hearty, flavors were good, and it was large. The chicken feet was cooked perfectly, texture was consistent throughout and the flavors were subtle and well seasoned. Now the fried rice was 25$, I really wanted this to be good. My honest description of it is , the rice was well cooked, shards were fluffy and seasoned nicely yet that was it. The salted fish was rarely seen, youd only notice every 3 spoonfuls and the chicken was passable. Shrimp rice rolls and shrimp dumplings are my stable go tos, I've been eating these dishes since I was small. These two were a complete disappointment, the batter were both chewy and honestly felt TOO thick. Then it seemed like there was a batter of some sort on both shrimp fillings? This cause the shrimp to have bites that were EXTREMELY chewy, like why are rice rolls chewy??? Final bill was 150$ for mid food that came out late and poorly time. Would NOT come here again.
Came here with two friends for dim sum on Saturday late morning to try out a new (to us) place. We made a reservation online to make things a little less painful since Saturday dim sum brunch time can get intense with crowds. When we arrived, I checked us in and we were seated right away. The space was gorgeous - spacious, bright, elegant, high ceilings, ginormous screens. They served us tea right away and left a menu on the table for us to fill out and order from. Since I was the lone Asian person at the table, I took the liberty of filling out our order. I placed the completed form at the edge of the table for the wait staff to pick up, after about 10 minutes of no one stopping by, I had to do the arm waving thing to flag someone down. I typically expect minimal to no customer service when going out for dim sum - it's just culturally expected. The food eventually slowly started to come out, a dish and basket at a time, but we had no sauces, so I had to get again flat someone down for some. Once we were settled with sauces, we were good. So. Try good, as a matter of fact. Each dish & basket was fresh, delicious, & left me excited for the next bite. I ordered the standard dim sum dishes, plus some. The steamed bbq pork bun was beautifully crafted & fluffy, moist, & delicious. The group favorite was the salted egg yolk lava bun - painted on top with a stroke of gold, when I broke open the bun, it yielded a delicious golden & sweet yolk that left everyone at the table with surprising delight. The food quality definitely made up for the poor service, but someday, I dream that there will be a dim sum restaurant experience that serves up both.
Personally, I've never craved dim sum but this meal changed that for me! The restaurant is definitely a more upscale dim sum spot. It's really large, bright, and very clean. The service is also pretty fast. However, because the restaurant is so large and is often packed especially on weekends, you'll probably have to ask your server more than once for something. Overall though, this is my family's new preferred spot for dim sum Dishes: - Pork belly with caviar: was super tender and juicy, basically melt in your mouth texture. However I was hoping the skin would be crispy like typical roast pork so I missed that. -Siu Mai: super plump, juicy, and flavorful! Typically I get bored of siu mai but this one was so good! - Glutinous rice dumpling: one's I've had in the past have been dense but this one was nice and light and the filling too salty - soy sauce noodles: this is my favorite childhood dim sum side but I felt this one was more wet, rather than the dry noodles I'm used to and prefer. I would still get it though since it's one of my favorite dishes. - shrimp noodle roll: overall it was okay. I will say tha the shrimps were HUGEEE which to most people would be great but personally it was a bit too much for me.
Was here for a special event... it was very nice inside... high ceilings, in credible big screen... great venue for banquets. Food was very good as well. Parking was also very amole. Service was quick and friendly. I would eat here again.. highly recommend.
First time to HL Peninsula on Sunday night- my husband and I were surprised by the great service, generous portions. Both our dishes were pretty tasty, not salty. We also got a warm red bean dessert at the end. Nice ambiance- I felt like I was in Asia.
We were excited to try a different dim sum place and it started off strong with the golden fried rice and string beans, mushroom, jicama dish. An hour and fifteen minutes later we were still waiting for a third of our dishes. We kept having to ask for the dishes and several of them came out cold. Cold XLBs are not tasty. It took 30 minutes for a box and to pay. My MIL was also upset by the terrible service/experience and the 16% service charge. Would not go back read more

Total will give out 2.8 out of 5 Food: 3.5 / 5 Service: 2.5 / 5 - it were ok until 1:40pm on Saturday dim sum will be closed any more orders? 2 minutes later brought the check said cashier will be closing in 5 minutes but we only ate 15% of our food and guy-supervisor just standing next to our table waiting for us to pay- very un respectful. A huge dim sum place with tons of dishes, fresh seafood, live lobster banquet rooms too! Good service. Impressive dining room and facilities. You can pull from carts but it's best to just order from their menu. Fairly pricy but maybe not for Bay Area. Flavors ok not spectacular. Service is ok huge busy place. Price a bit high. read more
Dim sum/yum cha at HL Peninsula is great! We came on a weekend shortly after they opened and there was no wait. There were already many tables that were seated by the time we sat down. They have a large variety of options that you can select off of their menu. On top of the dim sum items, we also ordered a beef chow fun dish since we were craving it. That was pretty good and had a lot of "wok hay" flavor. None of the food was overly salty which was a huge plus. The service was pretty good as well. The only thing that threw us off was the automatic 16% gratuity, which is certainly not a standard across all restaurants. I would definitely come back again when I'm around the area. read more

We came there to celebrate my birthday. Kudos and special recognition to Mr. Guo, one of the waiter. He really go above and beyond to make the birthday experience unforgettable. From all my experience celebrating birthday in restaurant, this is the first time where the waiter is very considerate and super helpful during cake time. He brought the birthday cake to our table and make sure our table is clean before taking the picture. He even directed us where to sit/pose before taking picture, took lots of picture for us. And, he has special trick on how to cut the cake Another plus point, very clean, bright, and bog restaurant. Ambiance is super nice. We surely will come back for another birthday celebration and already plan to try their dimsum! read more
Okay, this might be the hot dim sum spot! This place is huuuge. Possibly 500+ people so you won't be needing a reservation for dim sum. The place does have private rooms for your party. Every single item we ordered was good. No complaints on my end. Will definitely need to come back and try their other items on their large menu. read more

place is super huge & strangely packed on a Thursday for lunchtime & the giant (and I mean GIANT) tv screen was lowkey making me dizzy somehow came w a group & we were sat down at a table but nobody gave us any menus, so the lil kid w our group (literally an actual 7/8 year old) saw a stack of menus on another table so she wanted to be helpful & grabbed two sets of menus; waiter came over and straight up LECTURED her (in front of her mother, mind you) on how little girls should sit down and let adults do things and children should only focus on studying for school? like dude ok I get it but we weren't getting menus & this kid just wanted to help you do your job?? legit she was so quiet for the rest of lunch & I felt terrible for her anyways all the food took a while to come out & my stomach was rumbling I would rate all the dishes separately but literally everything had like no meat inside the buns or dumplings :( mostly starch & also the "rice" wrap parts were undercooked & kinda clammy? irrelevant note - I miss when dim sum places had the ladies on carts shouting things read more
Food is good here. Definitely on the pricier side for dim sum, however that is expected. The dumplings were all great and had great flavor and texture. The suckling pork was good, however for $32 was not worth the money. There was not that much of it. I highly recommend the congee as it was delicious. And was something that was easy to eat as I had just recently had dental surgery. This is my 2nd time at this location, and probably 5-6th at an HL Peninsula in general, and I always enjoy my time and the food at their locations. read more

This is the spot for dim sum in the South Bay. Service is on point and the food was immaculate. Everything came out pretty quick. Gratuity is already included regardless of your party size. I recommend ordering at least two dishes per person. The dishes were well made and I didn't think it was oily. My favorites were the clams and short rib. read more

Came for a private birthday event in one of the side rooms. Main banquet hall is voluminous double height space, can easily sit 500+. Fancy modern decor with big TV screens, and classic seafood tanks on one side. Ten course banquet - started with cold appetizers then the food rolled in faster than we can eat. Sea bass was delectably melt in mouth. Tried abalone for the second time ever - chewy likes a mussel. Lobster was on small side (mostly shell). Topped off with classic red bean soup. Left feeling very full and even brought home a takeaway box of leftovers. read more
Ambiance Large dim sum restaurant without the rolling cart. Well there was one towards the end but only dessert plates and the only one we saw. Bright with wall sized tv panels that were basically self-advertisement. I guess they may use that for others to advertise maybe? Service Dim sum place. Put down the order on the menu sheet, they came to confirm the order. Extra requests (water, tea refill, chili, extra dishes) were taken care of fairly quickly. All the servers were always moving swiftly but seemed to be very efficient. We also requested to order several dishes To Go, the server told us that instead of ordering To Go, just order for table service, they will give us ToGo boxes. Much quicker, otherwise the kitchen would only start preparing the order after we pay, it would have taken a long time. Also gotta say, for a fully packed large dim sum place like this one, the restroom were nice and clean, a rarity. Food Many unique dishes that I have never seen at other dim sum places. They all tasted great. The jiggly rabbit mango pudding was so cute. The typical dim sum dishes were also quite good. Not sure they were better than nearby Koi Palace, I don't remember as I have not visited Koi Palace for many years, but regardless, we were satisfied with the quality. Cost On the higher side but the quality and uniqueness justify the cost. Tips were 15% mandatory for party of 6 or more. Because of the price point, I wouldn't be a regular at the place but for celebrations, this is definitely the Go-To place now if we want to do dim sum. Good service, good food. Dim sum was good in the morning, dinner set menu was also great too! We had a private room for a small family gathering early Christmas dinner. There are couple set dinner menu to choose from but we substituted some items and added some item. Almost all the dishes were good, especially the steak with taro, the fresh fish catch of the day was super fresh. Shrimp ball was okay. The king crab with garlic was okay. The pecking duck was okay. Definitely coming back for more family dinner ahead! read more
Came here to celebrate someone's birthday, so we had a big group. This place was very spacious, and the monitor was constantly playing ads about it being a wedding venue. The service was okay - there were quite a few newbies, but I'm sure they'll be better as they get more experience. Most dimsum places I've been to before would offer to cut our dishes for us, but this place only offered once. I had to flag them down to cut it for us (and a couple of them wasn't sure how to cut it). I was talking about cutting for the lotus wrapped rice thingy and some bigger piece items. Overall, the food was not bad. We got a lot of leftovers at the end of our meal. Oh, and they were super speedy with bringing us our dimsum, so we kept running out of space on the table....if only they could just slow it down a tad bit. read more

I loved: Sea bass Cubed beef with veggies Oranges I liked: Lobster pasta Scallops w/ sugar peas Peking duck Chicken soup This was ok: Fried rice Sea cucumber & abalone Crispy pork I did not like: Fried crab mayo Asian banquet wedding #goodeats! Can you believe the other tables had leftover sea bass? We boxed that up and took so much of it home This place is pretty on par with what I expect from a banquet hall flavor wise but I appreciate that they deviate with some of the ingredients and techniques. I have to mention the oranges because they're as good as the ones in UCR. Biggest compliment I can give. Service wise, I wish I could tip one of the ladies here. They were so much more helpful than the "men". 3 different male servers couldn't even bring us waters but one quick mention to this lady and she did it instantly. I really wish I got her name and could praise her directly. She really made our experience excellent. Venue is large and classy. We were in a sectioned off part for the wedding, the place is very modular. While it's busy I didn't feel like the noise in the restaurant distracted from the wedding. Solid. read more

Food and overall experience was great. I enjoyed all of the food. Their food had a perfect balance of flavors and it was so good. Pricing is a bit expensive but portion size was big. The restaurant has a big TV screen and nice decor. Here are some of the food we had: squid and scallops stir fried with celery and snap peas, lobster with garlic noodles, baked sea bass, roast duck with steamed buns, and suckling pig. We had a business event here with about 20 people and we ordered the wedding dinner. The food kept coming. The restaurant itself is pretty impressive. From the outside it looks like part of the strip mall or something. Once you get inside, it's clean it's expensive. It has two huge TV screens and a huge multi tank fish tank. Overall, the food was good. Personally, I think the portions were a little small, considering there were 10 people at each table. Tam the server was attentive and friendly. read more
No wait during weekday lunch. Overall the move is to go for dishes rather than dim sum. Some of our favorite dishes here have been the black pepper wagyu steak and the fried pumpkin with salty egg yolk. These are all perfectly seasoned and cooked with the pumpkin fried to absolute perfection - no residual oil taste. The dim sum like the siu mai and chicken feet are solid. Siu mai is filled with a lot of shrimp. Chicken feet has a sweeter taste than most places but still cooked well. Overall - come with a larger group to eat more of the bigger dishes. read more
One of the better dim sum restaurants in the bay area. They took over the old Michaels craft store location about 2 years ago. This location has plenty of parking. The first thing you'll notice walking in is just how grand and big the dining area is. It's a big long rectangle that holds at least 50-60 tables with a few private dining rooms along the side. It can get crowded at lunch on the weekends but the wait usually isn't too long given the number of tables available. For dim sum, you mark off the items you want on the menu order form and they'll bring it to your table. I can only imagine how many steamer baskets are heating up in the back as the wait time for the food was not very long. The standard items like pork sui mai, shrimp har gow, and chicken feet are good. One of the special items that were available last time was the Pea Sprout & Tofu Skin in Broth. I really liked this dish! It was served with goji berries and tofu skin on top of the pea sprouts. The private rooms have a table minimum which can vary from $500-800 depending on the time of year and the number of tables. We attended a private lunch event recently with 3 tables in a room. While it did fit 3 tables, the room felt a bit narrow so the folks against the wall were a bit cramped. However, since the menu was preselected the dishes all came out quickly and there was always someone in the room helping to clear dishes or refill the tea kettles. The short ribs with teriyaki sauce served in a clay pot is really good! The meat is tender, flavorful, and comes with sautéed bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms. The honey walnut prawns here is made really well here. The prawns are plump, fried fresh, and isn't overly covered in mayo. Their fish maw soup sprinkled with some white pepper is one of my favorites. I was at a table where several people didn't want the soup so I ended up with several bowls. Cons: Limited vegetarian options for dim sum besides a cilantro or plain rice noodle roll or the desserts. Tea or hot water fee varies from $1.20 for hot water to about $1.75-4 / person for tea depending on which one you select. They have house, standard, premium teas, and Taiwanese high mountain tea collection. read more

The fried sea bass is very crispy and flavored just perfect. Herbal broth fish in a pot is delicious as well with lots of fish. We also got spare ribs with cured Chinese olives and that is yummy. Overall the staff is friendlier tonight finally. I actually like our waiter and he hooked us up to another fish for the soup when the usual one was not available. My mom used to not like this place's waiters being pushy about us ordering expensive live seafood from the tank, but that didn't happen tonight so that's a plus. Note to the owner: if you don't make your staff upsell the pricey live seafood maybe there'll be more frequent visits to your restaurant. read more
For such a beautiful and upscale restaurant, the dim sum is not good. You can get better tasting dim sum for a regular dim sum restaurant or even a to go place. The Shumai (Pork Dumplings) has no flavor and small for $7.99, too much. I could get the same, but taste better at New Hwong Kok and almost half the price. That goes for the Har Gow (Shrimp Dumpling). The beef tripe was almost cold and average flavoring and the same for the pork ribs with black bean sauce. The roasted duck and pandan custard tart where very good. The service was good, everything i asked for came in a timely manor. read more
HL Peninsula is hands down my favorite dim sum restaurant in the Bay Area. My family always come here when we get dim sum and the food is always fantastic. The dim sum here is super high quality, and it's a bit more elevated than your average dim sum. Their classics like their ha gow (shrimp dumpling), chicken feet, and spare ribs are delicious but the baked bbq pork buns and salted egg yolk lava buns are definitely some stand out items for me. The bread is so incredibly fluffy and the fillings for each of these buns tasted like a dream. Something I have to get EVERY time are the pandan egg tarts! I love this unique spin on a classic and they do it so so well -- crust is incredibly flaky and buttery and the pandan egg center marries both the flavors so well together. I've also come for dinner as well and their food is just as good. The service here is average and inconsistent, on some days it's great but other times it's definitely lacking, but that's how you know the food is going to be fire. The inside space is beautiful and a pretty loud environment which is pretty typical for a dim sum restaurant. I seriously cannot recommend H.L. Peninsula enough! read more

During this visit we are in a private room in this restaurant and the food was just spectacular. Our host had ordered three different types of king crabs. Omg, they were all delicious but the one with the dusting of spices and lightly fried was to die for. I just wish I had a better picture before it got mostly eaten. The service was fine. The restaurant gets very busy so expect a wait. Can't wait to return! read more

How much are the VIP room? How much would it be if less than 15 people were to book the room?
The minimum is $400 for 10 people for lunch time. I just booked last month.
Do you serve dim sum on weekend? My friend came to eat dim sum on Saturday and dim sum was not served.
I just went yesterday (Saturday) and had dim sum. My guess would be it depends on the time your friend went because dim sum is meant for brunch (breakfast/early lunch) and typically dim sum places stop serving it about 1-2pm
