I thought these were cute... but I won't be buying them. Today 5/16/2023 I went to Hobby Lobby (1351 W Imperial Highway La Habra 90631) since it was on the way while walking to nearest post office to mail some packages. I had my blue reusable shopping bag with me, and it had all my packages and outgoing mail in it. I decided to pop in real quick to look for items I didn't find at the Costa Mesa gem faire I went to last week. I took some pictures and got some ideas, and I found these variously sized little glass bottles in a package for 8.99 on the jewelry aisle. I walked around with them because I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy them or not. I only needed one, not several. I decided to leave them and put them back on another isle (which was my mistake, I should have put them back where I got them). I walked back up to the front of the store and when I got to the door, a woman about my same height (4'11) with dark brown/black hair, black pants, an either white or cream colored patterned shirt and wearing a gold name badge that said "RITA" with "assistant manager" under it) approached me from the side, got very close, and started to try to block my path. At first I was confused as to what was going on but she soon made her intentions clear. She asked me where the pack of bottles was! I was absolutely shocked. I told her I put them back, and she didn't believe me! She then insisted that I go show her where I put them. I refused, because I now was absolutely aware of what was going on. I started feeling really upset and wanted to get out of the situation ASAP because I knew I did nothing wrong. I described to her in detail where they were, on top of one of the open shipment boxes just a few aisles over on the floor. By this point all the workers and customers in the front were watching and listening, and I was feeling really embarrassed. She said okay and didn't even apologize, then she started to walk away. I turned away too, and then thought for 2 seconds to myself "what just happened to me right now wasn't okay" and I turned around to her and said, "Excuse me." She ignored me, so I said it again. I got her attention this time and I asked for her name and told her I was calling corporate regarding this because what she did wasn't right. She told me to go ahead and she pulled her shirt pocket down, showing me her tag. I feel and absolutely believe that this happened to me due to racial/stereotypical profiling. I am short, had my hair messy, sweats on, and I have a lot of piercings and tattoos. This is not the first time I have been followed or watched closely at Hobby Lobby but it's the first time something like this has ever happened to me in any retail store. When I was checking out at this location there was only one register open and a LONG line, but they had a handful of employees just standing around. When there's a huge line the decent thing to do is help the employee with the congestion. They also don't accept Apple Pay, which I had to run and get my cc but the guy made me wait again to check other people out first, even though I waited in the line already. I just left the store. I'm extremely upset after spending over 45 mins looking for the perfect item to purchase I get to the register and the 50% off sign that was listed was a LIE! All I wanted was a $7.99 key hook. The cashier was insistent that they were not on sale. We disagreed and she did not even care to get a price check. well I cared I went back and took a picture of the %50 off sign. When I got back to the register the line was ridiculous. I have frequented this store often and normally haven't had any issues but recently had a negative customer service experience. There were two lines to check out; one for returns and purchases and one for just purchases.I got in the purchase only check out line and two of the employees immediately told me that I have to wait in the other line as they were calling customers over from that line to wait in the other line. They both were extremely rude about it. I was a little confused so I did ask why I had to wait in the other line first before waiting in the second line and they just repeated that everyone has to wait in the first line before they can wait in the second line. So I immediately went to the other line. I waited 30 seconds in the other line before they moved me to the line I originally was waiting in. I had something on hold and was told I was good to come pickup but when I arrived I was received with horrible service and doors closed before their closing time. Someone named Carlos or Omar, I believe it was a manager because he had a gold badge on, said they were not letting anyone in even though it was not 9 yet. I told him I wouldn't have driven 45 minutes if the person I spoke to over the phone wouldn't have told me it was okay for me to come. He said he didn't know who said that in a condescending way and shut the doors waiting for other customers who were in the store to leave. I've only been to one other Hobby Lobby besides the La Habra location. This arts and crafts store has everything you need for that DIY project, home decorating or party planning. I saw the ad for the 50% off all Christmas decor and it led me here. The store is huge with a wide selection of products. Unfortunately, I missed the sale by one week so the holiday section was completely raided. They only had things in stock that I had no use for. Such as tinsel, wreaths, and wrapping paper. I enjoy browsing through the store for home decor items. The store is completely lacking in customer service. I walked passed 3-4 employees that didn't care to greet anyone nor offer assistance. This is a huge Hobby Lobby. There is a lot to see, and you could easily spend a lot of time in there just looking at everything. I agree with the other reviews that this is the least friendly store I've ever been inside. Nobody greets you; nobody asks if you need help; nobody acknowledges that you are a customer. I always go to the back corner where they have the clearance section. I usually find some great bargains, and I found two today . I found a scrapbook for $5 and an illustration how-to book for $6. All the clearance items are marked with a bright orange sticker with the price. I go to the cashier, she looks me in the face, calls over a manager, and asks the manager, "Are these items really on clearance?" Did she just accuse me of putting on the clearance stickers myself? The manager looks me in the face, and looks over her list, and then says, "Oh yeah, these are on sale." Well, I'm glad to know they automatically assume people are stealing from them. Very rude. Every Hobby is exactly the same and this new one is no different. The mega-sized store. The bright cheery lights and decorations. The same beautiful merchandise. Most of the items are on sale all the time so you wonder if anyone actually buy stuff here at retail prices. It also makes you wonder what the wholesale prices of these items are if they are slash the prices by 40-50% on a regular basis. You can go online and get a 40% off on any items. Really? I called in last week to place a rain check order. Give the associate all the information that I have to the specific lot number for the yarn. I was informed it'll take about a week to have in store. Called two days ago and it wasn't it yet. They'll call me so I was told. Called in yesterday and was on hold for about five mins. Associate said they had quite a lot, didn't even ask who I was and what specific lot I needed. So I decided to go in. Had to talk to three different associate regarding my order and by the time I got my order, it wasn't even the specific lot number. The last associate who help me informed me that there was never guaranteed that I was going to get the lot number I want. The store only gets what's shipped to them. Why is there a point of asking for the lot number then if there's no guarantee for this? I'm annoyed! I would have not started my project then. I would have returned and waited for the enough yarn Please make sure if you're buying yarn to check the lot number and to buy all that you need for it or wait to buy all at one time. For a place that is suppose to have Christian morals, I overheard one of the managers named Rita, telling one of their employees that they were not able to go home due to a feminine emergency. She had told her that they needed her because they were understaffed and on top of that they didn't allow the employee to go to a nearby store to purchase a feminine hygiene product. I've been at this store a few times and the management here treats their employees with such disrespect. Fire the whole management department. They either need to get retrained or fired. The first time I came here was opening weekend. I spent a good hour browsing around and only bought envelopes. I'm pretty proud of myself because I usually spend A LOT of time in the picture frames department. Like all Hobby Lobby locations they are very spacious and organized. Also, I have yet to visit a store where I haven't heard at least one glass shatter somewhere. I'm not a crafty person nor do I have the patience or creativity to come up with these amazing layouts you see on Pinterest or when you're flipping through the pages of Better Homes and Gardens. With that said, I still can't help frequenting these places looking for little knick knacks for my house and even just getting ideas for future parties and projects. Every time I see that big white sign taped on a shelf that says 30% off or 50% off I get super excited! What's on sale?? This Hobby Lobby is a bit smaller than the others I've been to, but still carry a tonage of items and well organized! Since the location is new I think they are still working out the kinks and training the staff. I came to return some online items and the process was pretty grueling- like it shouldn't take 30+ minutes and 3 people to process a return. Their computer system seems archaic and it wanted a physical receipt. I had a digital receipt which made things difficult, but come on it's 2019, get with the times! I looked up the hours of operation last night and it stated they opened at 9am, so I planned my day accordingly. I got here at 9am with my kids to get things I desperately need for work ASAP only to be told that 9am-10am is for 60+ shopping and at risk individuals. That's totally fine but my problem is that no where on the website did it state that so now I am in my car with my kids waiting an hour until I can get what I need for work. We were purchasing items for a party. Our cashier was named Kimberly. She was ringing up our items and asks for back up from Hailey to check an item that had multiple tags with the price. I don't understand why they question a tagged price as if we would change the price. Yet she over charged me for some items and didn't notice. Kimberly was quick to question a clearance item price yet doesn't notice it we are being overcharged. The store and its merchandise is large and extensive. While I hate the sales model of "jack up the price and then slash it 50% to make it look like a bargain," HL does have some cute decor pieces. Be picky though, bc there is a lot of junky looking stuff thrown in with the good stuff. With that said, this particular store has abysmal sales and check out service. Every time I go, without fail, there is a major back up at the registers and 6-7 blue vested employees are all hovering around but only 2 registers will be open. Today a frustrated customer asked if they were going to open registers. The response: "Not yet." Maybe they're waiting for the next coming of Christ? This store definitely is a walk in Pinterest it has so much decor for the entire house, patio, backyard etc,. However, the reason why I gave them 3 stars it's because the return process is so bad. They have 5 cash register that are opened and only 1 for returns. If you are going to do a return plan to be in line for about an hour. Today was my first visit to Hobby Lobby. I came in an hour prior to closing, as most employees were organizing. The ONLY employee to ask if I was finding everything okay, was Jordan. We made small talk and she "welcomed" me after I told her it was my 1st visit. Anyhow, I had previously shopped online and I had everything I wanted in my cart. Jordan walked me through the entire store and we found almost everything I needed. Definitely expedited my visit although I wanted so much more. I came in knowing a little about how the promotion works and she took the time to explain more. So in case you haven't been to this hobby lobby, let me save you the trip! While all of the supplies at hobby lobby are amazing and cute and respectful, JULIE isn't. JULIE was a (Caucasian) worker in this store who thought it'd be best to spend her time following my friends and I around the store. I feel as though this was due to my friends and I being non-white individuals. She'd stop at every aisle to stare and me and make deep, threatening eye contact towards me making me feel unsafe to talk to my friends and uncomfortable. Without leaving us at least 3 feet of space from her to have conversation, she proceeded to ignore other customers when they asked for her help. The same man whom asked her for help, came to me thinking I was an employee because JULIE didn't help him; she was too distracted stalking us. I wish I could put negative star. Do not I repeat do not ever buy anything at hobby lobby unless it is on sale... I happened to buy picture frames they went on sale the next week at 50% off and a simple price adjustment meant I had to bring in every single thingOn my receipt whether it was getting a price adjustment or not... Considering I purchased $300 worth of merchandise this was a lot... Also the picture frames resulted in a $80 credit but they were 24 x 30" five of them. Next time I will just look them up and buy my stuff on Amazon free shipping and no problems with the price adjustment... Or target... Or even Walmart... Silliest policy I ever heard of, created a big huge line and inconvenience for other customers as well as made me consider my future purchases if any there ...
