My husband came in with a friend one evening just catching up and really enjoyed the Quiet Primrose so much that he had to take me the following day to try it. When I first walked in here I thought it was going to be another boba tea place, but it's actually different than I expected. This place doesn't even have boba, or any toppings or add-in options for its drinks. It has several different types of tea drinks using real tea leaves, healing tonic drinks, and coffee & espresso. It also has sandwiches and salads. While the ingredients and combination for its drinks sounded interesting, I wasn't too impressed with the two drinks I got - Green Tea Coconut Infusion and Coconut Lemon Zinger. Both of these are green tea based drinks with coconut in it. To me they both tasted rather hollow and watered down. It may be due to ordering these iced instead of hot, but they do offer to make drinks at any temperature you request so I figured it should still be fine. They weren't flavorless. In fact, the Coconut Lemon Zinger had a really nice aroma, but the flavor just didn't stick. I'm starting to wonder if most of these drinks are meant more for health than taste. I did notice the drinks weren't very sweet and had almost too clean of a taste. That can be a good thing when I'm sick, but not something I would want to drink as a dessert. It's located in the busy shopping strip on Norse Way and Carson Street so parking can be quite a challenge during lunch hours. read more

If you haven't been to Hojas in Long Beach, please don't because I don't want this little gem to get too crowded. Of course, I you like amazing and interesting teas, then I guess you'll have to give it a try. On my wish list for this location would be that they have their menu a little more easily accessible because at the moment there's a small menu card up front by the register but if you're a first timer (like I was) or if you want to explore the menu while you wait in line, it's a little hard to see. (I did notice there were some TV screens above the register, but we're not in service, so maybe there working on putting the menus up there?) I'm looking forward to trying out one of their sandwiches, which sounded really yummy. Important note: They are closed Sundays so for a weekend coffee outing, try it on Saturdays! The place is on the smaller side, maybe about 3 tables, and one on the outside but it was raining the day I was there so it was a little cramped with people waiting for their orders. If you want the full menu, go to the San Pedro or Wilmington location. Unfortunately the Long Beach location is the closest to me, but they are inconsistent with the menu. Recently, I've been there and had the employees on shift tell me they couldn't make what I was ordering because they weren't trained on how to make all the food items, so I couldn't order what I want. They also had 0 pre made items for purchase, so all I could get was a tea. I DO NOT blame the employees who said this to me, that's 100% the businesses fault for putting people on a shift unprepared with no knowledge. When I do get to have the food, i order the Turkey chutney sandwich and it is lovely. I also love the deserts I've tried as well. I don't live around Long Beach, but when I am in the area I tend to go to this tea place. I enjoy the tea and pastries they provide at an affordable price. The Teas names are bubbly and on the spot. Also enjoy the friendly workers, at time they might be understaffed BUT they are always helpful and kind. There is one particular worker who is so kind and Patient with her customers. Was not able to get her name, but she works Saturday's, has an apron on, and has glasses (will find out her name). She is awesome! I highly recommend this place. High quality! You will not regret it. I have been coming to this place once a week. Overall I think their tea/coffee is decent; deserts are good but it looks like they are temporarily not available (something wrong with the fridge). Last week I learned that they charge extra for substituting whole milk with 2% milk ($1) and reducing the syrup to half the amount ($1). First of all, why would you charge me extra for taking less syrup? I can understand if you charge extra if I want extra syrup. Secondly, $1 for each of those "customization" seems high... considering that most other tea houses/coffee houses do it free of charge, unless what your substituting costs more, and they don't charge $1 for it! Cutest tea, coffee and pastry shop in Lakewood. The new decorations really light up the place and is very inviting. I enjoy supporting family owned business and this place have good quality items here. My son and I love their coconut infusion hot or cold. When it's hot it's on the sweeter side which I love. The cold version is less sweet and sometimes I add an extra shot of coconut to sweeten it. They even allow some drinks for a refillable price! The pastries are all delicious I haven't had a bad one. Came here as a tourist to the area after hearing positive things about their sandwiches. Ordered the avocado toast minus the chipotle as I am allergic to certain peppers and they couldn't tell me outside of chipotle peppers which others is in it. I didn't want to eat a "dry" sandwich so I asked if I could have their signature pesto or homemade mayo on the side and she said "we can't alter the recipe". I was a bit taken back as I explained it was a dietary restriction but I didn't want to miss out of the moisture sauce provides on multigrain toast. They wouldn't let me pay for a side of sauce although on their menu because they were fearful "I would eat it on the sandwich and alter the flavor". I got the original house chai, this one came out hot. I don't ever drink hot tea, my mistake I didn't ask but it turned out so good. The herbs/spices fragrance just right, mix with the creamy taste but not too much, together with a light hint of sweetness. I also got #3 everything bagel with spinach, tomato, and cream cheese. First bite I can taste the freshness of the spinach, and tomato is not soggy like many others. The cream cheese is tasteful and the bagel softness and the chewy texture is just right, not thick, dry, or hard. Awesome cute place with a big table for studying. I didn't see any outlets but they do have free wifi. The space is small and no bathroom in sight but the drinks are delicious! They are known for their house chai which has fruit notes. They do have bits of fruit in there so the lid has a bet inside the lid to filter out the fruit so you only get the tea. The drinks are on the pricier side but a refill is only 1.25 that day. I splurged and got their raspberry jelly shortbread cookie which so very delicious and their hummus vegetable wrap which was quite delicious as well. I've been here on a couple occasions. Once before COVID, and the second time about 2 months ago. During the first occasion I visited and had a sandwich and a tea. And on the second occasion which was more memorable I had a chai tea and a cheesecake. My husband and I visited on a cold night. The young man that was there at the moment was very knowledgeable and was able to assist us with making our drink selections. The cheesecakes are so rich and the contrast of the crust texture makes it so perfect. Upon further investigation (yeah I guess I'm nosey) I found that the owner is a chef. Came here on a Monday morning with two of my cousins to catch up. It wasn't too crowded when we went, but I'm sure when winter break is over it'd be packed with students trying to get a caffeine fix. I'm really glad we checked this place out because we all loved it! It's about time Lakewood/LB got a good tea spot! The decor is really cute and everyone who works there is so helpful and friendly. They use fresh and organic ingredients.. none of those artificial sweeteners and flavors. You can actually taste the bitterness of the tea in your drink, which I LOVE. This is the only place I don't need to adjust the sugar level in my drink because they make everything perfectly! Matcha with Vanilla (Iced) - they sure know how to do matcha! I usually go to 7 Leaves or Starbucks for this, but I will definitely be getting my matcha fix here from now on. It tastes so much more fresh and natural, and isn't too sweet. The hint of vanilla was perfect and didn't overpower the matcha. Coconut Lemon Zinger (Hot) - I opted for a green tea with lemon and ginger because my throat was hurting, and this helped a lot. I usually don't like hot drinks, but I really liked this! They have filter lids so you won't accidentally swallow tea leaves too. It was made with coconut soymilk, yum! The lemon was subtle and the ginger was a little stronger, but the flavors all meshed really well together. Green Tea with Coconut Infusion (Iced) - This was recommended by our barista. I loved how the green tea flavor still stood out because it wasn't lost in a sea of artificial flavors and syrups. The coconut taste was from the milk rather than a syrup, and the drink was just the perfect level of sweetness. Perfect for a hot day! Or any day I guess... Free WiFi, but not too much table space inside if you wanted to come here to do work/study. There's two big tables indoors and three tables outside in the front. Hojas has the HOTTEST tea on the planet. I burned myself trying to drink mine, and even after thirty minutes, it was still scalding. Lol. I opened the lid and blew on the brew several times to try and get the thing to cool down, but to no avail. I think it's awesome that they offered me 2 or 3 refills of my tea, but it was so hot that I was only able to finish one cup! They also have their teas loose with an interesting filter opening on their cups. My friend got the house chai and loved her drink. We both shared the carrot bar, which was rich and satisfying. I used to love this place and would come all the time and have even told so many of my friends and coworkers about it. My last visit was pretty disappointing and it made me realize the inconsistencies here especially with the employees. I've had pleasant experiences before with some workers, but the last time I came in there were two girls working and one customer sitting there waiting. It wasn't busy at all, and I ordered my drink which normally takes no more than 5 minutes when there's no one there. I don't know how long the customer who was there before me was waiting, but we got our drinks at the same time. It took nearly 15 minutes and the drink seemed watered down and not the same as I've had it about 20 times before. They make all of their teas fresh and use loose leaf tea. They use special lids @filterlid to filter out the tea leaves from your drink.
