I have been stalking this restaurant on Instagram for the past year. We finally had a chance to go on a Saturday afternoon and now my satisfaction has been satisfied. The place is like a food hall. It's loud, seats are limited, but the line does move quick. If there are no seats at the counter, you can always find a seat anywhere, but you better order enough because it is difficult to get back in line to order something else. The food is nothing short of amazing. The staff here worked very hard and you can tell they care about what they put out. They made a really good recommendations, I got the Kopache smoked yellowtail, which is my favorite dish so far, I also got the yellowtail ceviche, the scallops. I would probably pass on next time, although it was very fresh. It had a very distinct zesty taste a little strong on the lime. Also got the sea urchin, which is fresh and flavorful, and two orders of the churro because we had to take one home it was that good. I can't wait to come back and try their hot foods next time. We were too full with what was already on our menu. In total about $117 including tip.

I drove 35 minutes from South Bay, then waited in line for 40 minutes to sit at a table. The novelty of trying many seafood options, with chefs constantly curating new menus, is great. It's manageable to have a satisfying solo experience by ordering smaller items, though I regret not ordering a ceviche or entree. The wait made me want to try more variety. Favorite to least favorite from this visit: Kanpachi Tostada - Baja Fish Taco - Grouper Tostada - Baja Shrimp - Fat Bastard Oysters. Their staff is very helpful breaking down the menu, which I greatly appreciate. You're in good hands!

Definitely get some guac for your wait!

I got lucky. Drove in and found a parking right near the entrance. My mom met me there so I didn't have to wait in line as she already had seats for us. Had some tacos and my mom had fish. Don't remember the name but will post pictures. Fresh seafood. Nice presentation. Welcoming and friendly service that makes you feel like they know you. Overall had a cool experience and the wait was worth it.

We went 5pm on a Thursday and there was barely a wait! Always love the sparkling lemonade. - Rockfish collars 2.2/5 The fish itself is pretty salty- tastes like the sea. They over salt the batter so the whole dish is salty. They also over fried it so it's not soft or tender. It's chewy. - Fried fish taco 5/5 MMMMM. Yes! Definitely the best thing here. The fish is crunchy and tender and flakey on the inside. A very very delicious taco. [RECOMMEND] - Tuna Ceviche 4.7/5 A very fresh tasting dish. It's delicious, definitely needs more lime. - Grilled Branzino 4.5/5 The fish was very tender and had a Smokey taste from the grill. It was very yummy! - octopus taco 2.1/5 It's not as mindblowing as eating the octopus entree one. Fish tacos are better. - Cheesecake 1/5 We waited for 50 minutes for A SLIVER of mediocre cheesecake. AVOID. Free street parking

Been here about 5 times and it never disappoints! Love the ahi tostadas and the tacos, the amount of fish given is always a ton. Loved the shrimp platter but enjoyed the tacos more. Service is always so helpful and kind and even with lines there is always seating getting prepped for customers. I've never tried the surrounding restaurants as we always leave so full and happy! Parking isn't bad as they have a lot in front of them. Go try if you haven't!

A long wait, but well worth the price. This spot has to be one of the best spots in LA. Their tacos were so so good. We tried all of them and all of them were fantastic. We also got their ceviche and it was even better. Really enjoyed the different hot salsa options as well. The tostada was a great crunch and another great option. Def a must try! The line goes by at a good pace.

Currently sitting after i just inhaled everything. But so so so so so incredibly good. The ceviche de atun (bluefin tuna) was my favorite item we had. The tostada was AMAZINGLY crunchy but maintained its integrity whenever you break/bite it (it dint just crackle off and break how it wants) The fish is so so so fresh and light and the flavors of everything mixed in is amazing. My next fave thing was the yellowtail because of the chili oil thing they put on top. It really tied everything together (and again the tostada kept its crunchiness and integrity throughout the entire meal). Holy flavor burst. Next is the Baja fish taco, which tops my #1 (taco nazo). The batter & tenderness of fist is what i look for the most in a fish taco and this place did not disappoint. The batter was not oily at all and extremely airy, but not EXTREMELY crunchy (but that's okay). The kanpachi taco was also really solid. The fish was cooked perfectly and i love all the toppings that it came with. My least favorite (don't get me wrong, it was still REALLY good) was the octopus taco which was solid. It was really good, im just not the biggest fan of octopus in general. Overall, i think everything on their menu is well versed and crafted to perfection flavor wise. The price is solid for a place w a Michelin star and i like how home-y it feels, being in a food court. I will most definitely be back (we waited 1 hour, but i would wait longer). Slightly exceeded my extremely high expectations for this place. Servers were also extremely helpful and kind.

The line does -not- move fast. At all.

Amazing food here, we ordered several things and everything was very tasty and well done. Grilled Hamachi collars were just divine, smoked fish taco was a huge flavor bomb, and the yellowtail ceviche tostada hit it out of the park with big balanced flavors. I could go on, but you get the idea - order anything they have with confidence. Sparkling lemonade hit the spot too, not too sweet. Their Michelin star is well earned, and while not super cheap, the price to quality ratio is excellent. Why only 4 stars? Parking is awful, the line lasted 1 hour, and you had to hunt for your own table. Having 2 people allows one to stand in line while the other parks, one to find a table while the other orders, etc. God help you if you are a solo patron.

En route from the San Francisco Bay area to Orange County, I stopped by Holbox around 3:30p on a weekday to find that parking is a challenge and there was a short line to order food, but I was expecting all that and was intent on eating here. Here's what I ordered: Octopus Taco Baja Fish Taco Scallop and Shrimp Ceviche Hamachi Collar Sopa de Mariscos (Seafood Soup) As I had expected, the food was presented well and the fish tasted fresh. Honestly, I was expecting leftovers, but my partner and I ate more than we should have and finished off the whole thing. When we left Holbox, there was an even longer line than the one we waited in.

Finally got to try and see what the hype is about!! First of all, that line is LONGGG!! Planning to come when they open means that you're already late and it's going to be about a 1 hour wait (on a Saturday at least). It's food court style so you order, get a number, and then find a place to sit. The food is super fresh though, and most things are good... but not everything was a hit for me. Scallop Aguachile ($17)-- Scallop is naturally sweet! Good amount of pieces! The salsa/marinade/Aguachile sauce (?) is just SUUUUPER sour. Wasn't expecting it to be that sour without any cuts of spice or salt. Very mixed reviews on if we'd get it again. Like the scallop itself is fresh and beautiful but not a fan of the sauce. The avocado rose is beautiful and generous. Shrimp Aguachile ($28)-- So little pieces, kind of mediocre, and so expensive?? The super sour marinade worked decent for scallop but not for the shrimp. Big miss. Erizo Sea Urchin ($28)-- AMAZINGGGG. One order comes with 2 halves. The uni is sweet, the scallop is sweet. It's marinated in a good mix of sour, salty, flavorful goodness Tostada de kanpachi + uni ($24)-- AMAZINGGG definitely would get again. The tostada is a good crunch, the kanpachi is flavored well and the uni is so sweet, so fresh. Ceviche Mixto ($23)-- Mix of shrimp, octopus and halibut. Ceviche is on the more sour side. Comes with a side of chips. It was good and would order again to share... but wasn't as "wow" as the tostada or Erizo. Filete al Carbon ($18)-- It's ok. I guess it's like a good hearty lunch if you just wanted to order just one thing... but I wouldn't say it's special enough to come all the way here and wait in this line for it. It's fish, cilantro rice, beans, avocado, tortillas. It tastes exactly like what you think it tastes like. Nothing super wow, but not bad either. Smoked kanpachi taco ($8)-- oh I LOVED this one and actually came in with 0 expectations since it's not one of the ones I've seen people rave about. It's cheesy, kind of spicy, all around savory. Definitely would get again. It's a nice contrast to the brightness of ceviche and Aguachile etc Scallop taco ($9)-- Good!! The scallop is good and fresh and sweet so anything it's put on has got to be good. The sauce is good, the onions work. All around it's good. Taco de pulpo en su tinta ($8)-- My god the biggest disappointment. Everyone raves about it but what the hell is that black sauce that's on it!! The octopus itself is spectacular but whatever the octopus is sitting on was just soooooo not it. It's weirdly sweet and mushy? Scraped it all off my taco and just ate the octopus and tomatoes. Next time I'd get the octopus as a side order and not this taco. Large guacamole ($14)-- Pretty good!! Loved the fried fish that came with it. Had a good textural crunch. I think we get a good amount of avocado with the other dishes so it's not a must order, but flavor wise it's good!! Pricing as of last month on April 26. Parking there's a lot that connects to DMV side. It was free when I went, so parking isn't the bad part it's the line!! It was nice of them to provide umbrellas and water though so at least that makes it more bearable!

Been wanting to come here for quite some time now. I was finally able to make it on a Wednesday during lunch. We got there around 11:15am (they open at 11:30am) and the parking lot was quite empty. We sat at the bar before they opened (we asked some workers and they said that that was fine) and once they opened our orders were taken. I recommend you snag a bar seat if there are any rather than waiting in line. Although, the line was really short when we arrived anyway. Food was amazing. We ordered: Ceviche de Atun - Baja California bluefin tuna ceviche Smoked Kanpachi Tostada - House smoked kanpachi, shrimp, scallops, arbol-guajillo sauce, avocado Erizo|Sea Urchin Almeja Preparada - East coast surf clam, on the half shell Scallop Aguachile - Baja bay scallops, lime-serrano-cilantro marinade, avocado Smoked Kanpachi Taco - House smoked fish, queso chihuahua, salsa cruda, avocado & peanut chili oil Baja Fish Taco - Crispy battered local Vermillion rockfish, crema, mayo, salsa roja, pico de gallo Taco de Pulpo en su Tinta - Braised and fried gulf of Mexico octopus, calamari ink sofrtio Sopa de Mariscos - Seafood stew, local fish, mussels, shrimp, local rockfish, house made fish sausage & grilled bread Sparkling lemonade Yes, we ordered a lot but that was because I had a hard time deciding. Everything was amazingly tasty and fresh. Highlights were the Smoked Kanpachi Tostada, Scallop Aguachile, Smoked Kanpachi Taco and the Taco de Pulpo, Those were MY personal favorites, but there was nothing that was bad. I wish they sold beer - but we can't have it all.

So good, definitely worth all of the hype. Line was wrapped around the corner of the building and I didn't see it let up once but it does move pretty quickly. We were able to find an open table outside easily, and there is more seating inside the food hall. We ordered with our eyes and stomach and ended up with way too much food but glad I got to try a little of everything. Scallop aguachile was a standout- definitely order this. The scallops were plump and sweet and contrasted well with the sour acidic marinade. Another must-get is the kanpachi tostada. It had a mix of textures and was so flavorful. Ceviche mixto was good- big shareable portion and comes with tostadas. Would skip on the baja shrimp taco next time. Baja fish taco was also a bit forgettable. Soft shell crab was pretty good! I don't see that on the menu very often. A critique I have is that an order of guac should automatically just come with chips. Will definitely be back - I hope they continue to maintain the prices and quality/freshness.

Finally came to enjoy the 10 course tasting menu this past month and I'm very glad that I did. It was a very cool experience, though admittedly I was pretty damn full by course 8. The conchas in the very beginning -- oysters and a blood clam -- were probably my favorite dish of the night, to be honest. I enjoyed pretty much everything, save for one dish that was made of kanpachi head pate. just a bit gritty and not my favorite flavor or texture. Very grateful that I had the tasting menu experience -- if I were to come back I'd probably brave the line and order a la carte.

Pulpo Asado, Wood Grilled Kanpachi Taco, caldo. All Good!

What's the wait like if you're going on a Saturday 30 min before opening?

We visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon and found a long line, but it wasn't at all overwhelming. The staff was busy efficiently letting everyone in. Trust me, it was worth the wait! Just make sure you're hungry before you come.

How long is a typical wait time for 2 people on a Friday night around 7ish?

It depends.. if you get there early or just before it opens, then it's quick. If you show up during prime time like lunch or dinner, it will be 30 to 40 minutes. The line moves fairly quickly, but there's a ton of people.. And sometimes, you'll get… Read more

I don't believe there is outdoor seating anymore.

Does the inside have central air conditioning (HVAC) and/or air purifier(s) to filter indoor air?

It's a food court with good ventilation (AC). The food court has a wide entry way. So I don't think the air is filtered

When are the least busy days/times to go to Holbox?

Best time is arround 3pm on Tuesday or Wednesday... No trouble finding parking and little to no line.

    Good for kids?

For seating, it depends on the age of your kids & if they can stay in their seats. They have bar counter seating and a some 4 seat tables. Since it's in a food market hall, it's not "closed off" like a restaurant so if the kids don't stay in their… Read more

We actually don’t take reservations. Super casual, order-at-the-counter service in a food hall setting.

We do, but it's not heated and tends to get cold for dinner. For lunch it is great.

Now when you pull up originally you might think, "am I in the right place" but once you park and get into the courtyard, it is LOVELY! Amazing ambience! There is a bocce set up, string lights. It is a little slice of oasis in the middle of the fashion district. The restaurant itself - beautiful. I couldn't ask for more. Absolutely perfect in my book. Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. The staff are lovely humans who really seem to care about their customers. We have some faves on the menu. The bean dip is fabulous and I'm addicted to the baby gem salad. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

I'm sure they have their reasons, but I was pretty disheartened to see it go. Overall, the menu doesn't have a ton of vegan items, but they do have some room for adjustments if you ask. Despite the menu change, the incredible atmosphere and unique menu still make it a must-try.

The building is an original piece of the City's history, boasting a menu that features their famous burritos that vary in size from a regular to a huge party size beast that can feed several. I tried the Hollenbeck and the Okie burritos on two separate occasions via pick up, as aforementioned, the service was quick, convenient and the pick up window is seamless, parking is located next to the structure and I haven't had problems getting there. Hollenbeck was good but I definitely enjoyed the Okie burrito more, I ordered the "original" size once and didn't seem to learn my lesson the second time, these burritos can feed two in Original size. They offer a "Mini" version which would be satisfactory for one person. My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.

I love Guisados. I've been a fan for many years. I really like this location; I happened to be here…read moreon the first Thursday of June, which is also the DTLA Art Night. After I ate my tacos, I was able to browse the art/jewelry vendors in the outdoor hall. For parking, there's a nearby parking garage that's $10. I ordered the mole taco and the pescado taco. I really love the flavor of the mole. I wish they added more red onion though; I only received one thin slice of it. The pescado taco was really good and clearly made fresh, but I still preferred the flavor of the mole taco. I also ordered a melon drink which was so refreshing and delicious. Service was nice and friendly. Thank you!

Guisados es absolutely a gem, truly enjoy the tacos here so much…read more My husband and I had the pleasure of dining here after visiting The Broad with some friends, I've been back a few times since and this place truly is delicious! I love that they use homemade tortillas and that there's a few options to choose from, some I like better than others but for the most part everything is well made. My favorites here include the chile relleno taco, steak picado taco, & chicharron taco (hubby loves these too) The quesadillas here are delicious as well (not pictured) they use a Mexican cheese that has a flavor profile unlike your basic mozzarella or cheddar cheese. The nopales taco was ok, could be more well seasoned & the chorizo and papas taco was ok, didn't really like the flavor of the chorizo, but everything else was delicious. The agua de Jamaica (Hibiscus water) is delicious too, not too sugary. Very refreshing. 4/5 stars because the price is a bit steep for about $5 a taco & they are very small tacos but in my opinion they are so worth it. Hubby & I will definitely be back again soon.
