Disappointing start, disappointing finish. Wanted to sit in the patio, but that option was not available when I booked online. When we arrived,, we were told the patio was booked "Well, now you know for next time," the hostess said. Cocktails were good, and appetizers were excellent. We went on a Sunday late in the day, 2 PM as they close at 3pm. We wanted sit on the patio in the shade but management refused to sit us at one of the empty five four-tops in the shade because we were only a couple. We left at 3pm and only one other couple had been sat in the shade in the four-tops. The rest went empty our entire visit. My wife eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly. I ordered the black and bleu burger. I can say the fries were good. I only looked at the title of the burger, but I should have paid attention. The black and bleu burger had no blue cheese. It was dry. It had bacon and cheddar cheese! There was no Cajun blackening. It was not a black and bleu burger in any stretch of the imagination. I had to get mustard and ketchup just to give it some moisture. We won't be back. read more

I like Holman's Table. I've come here for after work drinks on a number of occasions. I've brought my team here for a couple of holiday lunches. Today, stopped in for lunch. Ordered the double chicken. The kitchen shouldn't have sent it out. It came out burnt. I was hungry and didn't have time to send it back so I just ate it. It comes in two sliders. Both tasted bitter from the burnt outer crust. I complained my way through each of the sliders, picking off the more burnt pieces as I ate. My husband had their Cali burger and fortunately that came out good. I think my dish must've been a doozy. read more

I was unfortunately disappointed with Holman's Table. I really wanted to love it l. For the price, I was expecting unique dishes with a lot of flavor. Everything was so, so bland and dry, and I rarely complain about my meal. I'll usually say that something mediocre is good to avoid killing the vibe. I had French onion soup and pesto pasta. Both dishes were so bland and lacked salt and spice. The pesto didn't have the poignant basil flavor it should've. The portion for the pasta was small, which would have been fine, had it had a good flavor to enjoy. I would like to give them a second chance but for the prices, I'm not sure if I will be back. 3 stars for good service and awesome atmosphere at a unique location. read more

Airport setting crazy good food. Thursday 1/2 price wine night -so we splurged on a beautiful bottle of red. Great attentive staff even though it was quite busy for an early weeknight dinner. Went there for lunch on a beautiful day spent on the patio. Fun to watch the planes take off and land right in front of you. Service was top notch. 10/10. The food was what brings this rating down. Was expecting more farro on the farro salad but it was mostly lettuce. We tried the chicken sliders which were okay, could have been more flavorful. After asking for hot fries we both decided that they were the favorite component of our meal. read more

Located at the Downtown St. Paul Airport, Holman's Table is a great spot to enjoy surprisingly good food and a nice view of various aircraft taking off. This trip was for lunch. The menu isn't huge but provides an upscale menu with ample variety. I chose the Hanger because why not order the very thematically (and truthful) named steak? It was quite good. Great flavor, with an interesting twist of turnips and Brussels sprouts mixed in. It was a little speedy for the size (maybe 6 oz.?), but definitely carried its weight for the palette. All in all, I was quite pleased with Holman's and would maybe venture back to take flight while dining for dinner (an option they provide). read more

An architectural treasure on the edge of St Paul. The scratch food is artfully presented and full of worldly flavors. The menu is ever changing. Deftly designed cocktails and an extensive wine list accompany your meal. The atmosphere allows you to easily drift back to the early days of air travel. I adore this place so much. I know it's quite new, I believe it opened a year ago perhaps. Every time I come here, I get happy all over again! I came here for the first time in July with some co-workers for a Farewell party, and I was so impressed with the food at lunch that I had to return for dinner. Their Bone-In Ribeye and Hanger steaks are divine. Their Poutine appetizer is pretty good, I would order that again. Their burgers are incredible. Super fresh, farm to table concept, and the fries are great! My favorite burger is the Vat 17. Thick cut candied bacon and amazing aged cheddar. Co-workers have said they liked the Lamb Burger, the salmon entree and the Buttermilk Chicken sandwich. The Mushroom Toast appetizer lives up to the hype! If you like mushrooms (or even if you don't) you'd probably enjoy it. Fresh Coffee here is good and strong if you're coming for breakfast or lunch. Scallops are delicious - they come with little cubes of roasted Pork Belly and kimchi- we had no complaints about that combination of flavors! The Last Word cocktail is my all-time favorite. The Boulevardier is also exceptional. Holman's Table is so special to me because you can watch the runway and see the private jets take flight. When standing outside the restaurant near the parking lot, you can view the entire skyline of downtown Saint Paul. It's gorgeous, especially at night with all the twinkling lights. Just an update to say that I returned and they no longer have the hotcakes (and I was mini-gaslighted when it was claimed they NEVER had the hotcakes). But hey, what I had was very, very good. The rock salt experience is gone (thank goodness). The food was awesome and the prices were pre-covid (so I'm sure they'll go up). What makes this place a little "odd" is the vibe that I get here. It's like the place is the brainchild of a single Bond villain. Dishes are named the way Dr. Evil says they are. Food is called what Dr. Evil says it's called. And where are the sharks with lasers on their heads?! It's now a four-star experience. Plus one star for being at the airport. read more

I came here for restaurant week FEB 2019. It was a very unique location just right next to the St. Paul Airfield. Ambience: it's a very small place, but overall comfortable. It is very cozy. Service: it was good. My water glass was empty at times, but it wasn't unbearable. They fill my water glass promptly enough. The food: the food was definitely unique and have a surprised element, however, the desserts were both huge disappointment. Mushroom toast - my mushroom toast felt cold, it felt like they had been pre-made. The presentation definitely made it look very fancy. The mushroom was fresh, no complains! Brussels sprouts - oh my! So good. I love the pear, the sauce, the bacon - they all add very nice and unique flavor to the dish. I would definitely order again. Short Rib - the short rib was tender but quite dry. I wish we had more gravy/ sauce. The mashed potato was very good - silky smooth, creamy, and buttery. The Sturgeon - it was quite unique. The first couple bites were amazing, but after awhile, it just started to get a little too "sour" and boring. But the first couple bites were definitely refreshing. Chocolate torte - the texture was wrong. It was very grainy and overly sweet. Pineapple rum cake - just sweet. I ate the thin slice of pineapple but didn't finish the cake. read more

VAT 17, one of the best burgers on the planet! Who knew a hidden gem was right there at the St Paul Airport hanger? The interior is very nice, well lit, comfortable. Lots of natural light with windows overlooking the runway. We arrived for an early dinner at 5:30 so there was no wait for a table. We were told though that since we didn't have reservations, we had to give up our table at 7. No problem for us though. Apparently if you want to come here between 6 and 9, you better have a reservation! We were seated at a table located next to the bar. Turns out our waiter was also the bartender Ryan. He was awesome! He was quick on the ball with drinks, giving recommendations for dinner and dessert, checking on us during the meal and all around super nice classy guy. The Vat17 Burger is premo beef on a nice soft bun with candied bacon and a soft cheese (the name escapes me but was so good). Skin on crispy fries. My guy enjoyed their other specialty burger which featured mushrooms (which he said were fresh and tasty). We topped the meal off with pumpkin cheesecake accompanied with a cranberry capote. We left feeling so satisfied and happy! It's a bit more expensive at $15 for a burger but really worth the trip! read more

Love this place! Great location, and a fun place to sit on patio and watch the airport traffic. I first found this place when I was looking for a Thanksgiving premade meal to take home, so we gave Holman's Table a try. Wow, did not disappoint! All the fixins just like when Mom used to make :) The portions were generous, and SO good, and love they way it is all sent in a separate container that you can just pop into oven to heat. (and comes with perfect instructions) We loved it so much, we ended up getting it again the next year for Thanksgiving again..Think this could be our go to Thanksgiving dinner for many years to come! read more

We were really looking forward to visiting this place. Completely fell flat. Let's break it down. Service: slow When we first arrived, it took a noticeable amount of time for anyone to come over. Not even water or a quick "I'll be with you in a minute." When the waitress, Elashia, finally came over, no run down of the menu, no highlights of some favorites. Throughout the meal, lots of empty water glasses. Disappointing. Food: our group of four ordered the crab cakeS (the S is important) and the poutine to share. My biggest pet peeve ever: if your menu makes the dish plural, such as crab CAKES, don't deliver 1. For $17, you get one 3-inch crab cake. Lacks seasoning. Poutine was fine. The boar was a nice touch For an entree, i had the wild boar pappardelle. Very "yummy" pasta. No sauce. The starch from the over cooked pasta turned the entire dish into a pasty blob. Cocktail: gin and tonic. Standard gin with a fancy bottle of tonic water. Not much more than that. It's not worth the drive out here and the hefty price tag. read more

This is my second review. Last time was 4 years ago for dinner. I thought we'd give brunch a try but won't be back after this second experience. I ordered a meat and cheese omelette with a salad on the side. (couldn't get more basic). The salad was very basic but fine, everything fresh. The omelette was the most bland omelette that I have ever had. I'm unsure of the method of cooking, maybe baked in a wet bath in the oven? I've had mini omelettes at a hotel breakfast that have been similar. Again, the beverage saved the day! The Holman Abides gets a thumbs up. read more

I won a gift card to Holman's Table through an instagram giveaway, and I am so grateful for the prize and for getting me through the door! When we came here on Sunday for dinner, we entered a pretty random building in a small-aircraft airport (which is open to the public, not like terminals with security). First thought was, "Oh? Ok cool..." And then we entered the restaurant and fell in love with the place before we even got to our table. The decor has some art deco influence, with some bold modern touches. Sitting by the big windows allowed us to see the tarmac and some aircrafts taking off. We got mushroom toast and kampachi crudo to start. The mushroom toast was rich and savory, with umami wild mushrooms on cheesy, buttery ciabatta. The crudo was clean and fresh, garnished with bright oranges, radish, and pickled pepper. We loved both! The wild boar pappardelle came with a generous portion of tender, shredded meat, atop perfectly cooked pasta. The chevre and peppers on the side were great complements (and looked like cute lil' elf hats)! The duck ragout had also didn't skimp on the meat, and boasted perfect pillowy ricotta gnocchi. I mean, yeeeeesh, whatta divine dinner. Our server, Laura, was truly a treat; exceptional and friendly service! She is (or was?) a flight attendant too, so she expressed what a great fit this job was for her, which was real sweet to hear. read more

Great new restaurant off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. First visit, started with the mushroom toast based on recommendation of Zoe our waitress. It was excellent but look forward to trying the poutine on next visit. Chose the hangar steak and a burger for our main course. Hangar steak was seasoned perfectly and paired well with gnocchi and veggies. Burger was good with the candied bacon being a highlight. Finished with the berry cobbler which was well prepared. I will be making a trip back here because I really want to give this place five stars! I absolutely love the concept and the overall experience, but I am sad to say the food didn't wow me this trip. The location, interior, ambience, service, and drink menu were all exceptional, but the food wasn't quite there. That said, they are still very new so I'm sure there will be some changes and refinements in the coming months and I am excited to go back and try more. The restaurant is located in the Holman Field terminal at the St. Paul Airport. What a unique location! Driving in at night was neat because you are winding down the airport road away from the city - likely wondering if you are going the wrong way, but if you are following google maps you're not - and you are looking out at the blinking runway lights and it's actually so, so pretty. Being somewhat removed from Downtown St. Paul - you end up taking the first exit off of Hwy 52 after crossing the river - you have a sense of escaping the city for a little while even though most visitors won't step foot on a plane. Kinda dreamy right? Then you pull up to the charming little art deco terminal building, park the car, and as you turn to walk in you realize you have a million dollar view of the St. Paul skyline. So cool. Once inside, the restaurant space is equally charming. The dining room is the perfect balance of old and new with contemporary finishes and striking mid-century furniture and details. The lighting is lovely - low, but not too dark - and warm. If I had to pick a Twin Cities restaurant to model a home after, this would be it. And we have some beauties, so this is saying something! Think the Commodore, Alma Cafe, Bachelor Farmer Cafe, W.A. Frost, etc. The space alone warrants a trip even if you're just grabbing a drink. Given the mid-century vibes and house-made syrups/blends I decided I needed a cocktail to get the full experience. So glad I did! I ordered the Gold Rush, which was delicious and well-balanced - sweet enough with the honey and lemon to cut the bourbon, but not too sweet. My friend ordered the Penicillin, which was pretty similar in terms of flavor, but with hints of ginger and smoke. Also very good. For food, we started with the salmon and potato cakes which were sadly very skippable. I was expecting cakes, similar to crab cakes or sliders or something like that I guess, but the cake (single) came deconstructed. I don't have anything against deconstructed plates, but this felt more like a haphazard pile of smoked salmon on a haphazard pile of hashbrowns. It was difficult to eat, difficult to share, plating was blah, and the saltiness of the smoked salmon overwhelmed the entire dish. My entree was MUCH better! Very good, in fact. I ended up getting the diver scallops with kimchi and pork belly, but there were so many great options it was really hard to decide. The flavors in this dish were amazing, sweet and spicy. The scallops were perfectly seared on the outside and soft and melty on the inside. And the plating was gorgeous! My only complaint is that it needed something crispy or crunchy? Between the tenderness of the pork belly, meltiness of the scallops, and the moisture of the kimchi, the dish felt too soft. Some texture would have been great for contrast. Overall, such a great addition to the St. Paul and Twin Cities foodscape! Already looking forward to going back and anticipating a five star review as I don't think these guys have reached their full potential. read more

Back for breakfast! This time I had the corned beef hash. It was SPECTACULAR. Most places give you chopped up who-knows-what that LOOKS like who-knows-what. Holman's cures their own corned beef from whole briskets! Perfectly seasoned. And... BIG chunks! Again, the portion size was perfect. Plenty enough food to make me happy, and not that Gargantuan Pile of Stuff that so many places give you. There is a reason The Dot and I keep coming back... Holman's is a winner! read more

Cant say enough great things about this new spot! The restaurant is in the old terminal building at STP from the 'golden age' of flying. The decor and ambiance are modern and chic with a nice touch of classiness. Awesome views on the runway stoked the inner airplane geek in me! There's a patio outside that I'm sure will be fun in the summer. My breakfast burger was amazing! The fries had this tasty pepper seasoning and the burger had a great flavor and slice of sharp cheddar melted on top. Portion size was good while not being too big. Service was swift and friendly and felt genuine. The place got busier through our meal but never felt loud, and the quality of service wasn't affected. Value is also great- prices are in line if not cheaper than many other brunch spots in the twin cities. All in all an awesome spot that I'm excited to return to for dinner or drinks soon! read more

Wasn't sure what to expect from a restaurant at the St. Paul airport...didn't know that St. Paul had an airport - or a restaurant inside of it for that matter. Arrived at 7pm with two young kids and my wife, unsure what to expect. To my delight, the kitchen was willing to accommodate the kids, while delivering some really tasty dishes for the adults. We had a little bit of everything from the poutine (my wife loved the gravy...and she hates gravy) to the bacon steak (can't go wrong with pork belly!) I enjoyed the bone-in ribeye, however I found it a little light on the seasoning. (Salt at the table would help). Overall, I felt like we found a truly secret gem - and we'll be back. Let me start by saying this would be higher based on past visits but it's gone downhill over the last year. First visit was great. Second was disappointing and the server felt bad and gave us gift cards to come back. Third was even worse so we left for a year. Came back last night hoping it was better. It wasn't. My $300 burger (thats the name) was disgusting and drowning in gravy and some sort of ridiculous sauce. The crab cake was $24 for one tiny cake and it was over cooked and bland. The pasta was drowning in lemon juice and had no flavor. The pork ribeye was the only good item on the menu. Also I think the office holiday party in the adjacent room affected the service and food came out super slow. Parking was full by 5:30 pm. Never going back. It's going be closed soon anyways if they don't change the menu and stop overcharging for some items. Even after the server discounted our bill it was over $200 for 4 with only one or two drinks. read more

I would do a search (command-F or control 4, depending on your computer) to see how many comments are about the terrible service here. Says a lot right off the bat... This place has been on my list for a long time. We had some friends go recently and they just stop talking about how amazing it was. My in-laws offered to take us out to dinner before a big trip we had, so we decided on this place. Let's start with the good. The space is cute. It is inside the St. Paul airport. Like, literally in the airport. You sit and can watch planes land and take off. Really cool. The space is small, so it can be a bit noisy, but not terrible. That's about where the good ends. The food. I had a beet salad to start. I was not impressed. I LOVE beets and I love beet salad. The salad was very dry. The arugula was like eating sandpaper at times. The beets were ok. They tasted canned or pickled. It is a shame because some nice roasted beets would do so well. The dressing was good, but not nearly enough of it. I got their pork chop. It was MASSIVE, which meant I had leftovers. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. My husband could have easily whipped up something equivalent to what they served, possibly even a little better. The pork chops came with what I would consider some crimes against food. They were served on a bed of "cheesy grits." I use quotation marks there because these were not grits. Grits are a weird between creamy liquid and lumpy steal-cut oatmeal, in a good way. These grits, if you can call them that, were almost hard. My husband thought I had mashed potatoes on my plate. Not good. The second crime was the slaw it came with. I don't know what was in it, but it was like a vinegar/salt bomb. I couldn't eat it, and I can stomach a lot of stuff. The worst offender of food by far was the dessert. I know I've talked about how much I love certain foods, but I truly have a MASSIVE sweet tooth. Even when a dessert isn't that good, I'll still eat it. I got the strawberry shortcake. It should be renamed dry dish sponge with overly sweet strawberry liquid. The shortcake crust was edible, but the inside was like chewing on a dried out sponge. The strawberry filling was just sugary and didn't highlight the strawberry at all. As my mother in law said, you know its a bad dessert when Barclay doesn't eat it all. The service was also just awful. Dinner took about 1.5-2 hours. That would have been fine if we were sitting and enjoying ourselves. It took someone about 15 minutes to come just take our drink order. It then took about 30 minutes for someone to come take our food order, after our drink order was done. The waitress was mostly absent through most of our experience. I don't mind being left to my food, but a good server should pass by so they can be flagged down if needed. Ours was MIA for most of our time. Saw they had a helicopter and a meal package. My mother is visiting and I thought that sounded like a lot of fun. That was until I actually ate here. Doubt I'll be back anytime soon. 15/100 read more
