I walked by and saw they had snacks other than food so decided to give their sausage a try. Their service are really quick. they have multiple self service machines and people can also help you order. Their food is pretty great. I've came here multiple times. Definitely recommend if you're in the Great Mall food court. read more

I have been to all of the Home Eat locations around the Bay Area and each one is consistently good. I recently went to the Great Mall location and I don't think I will be coming back anytime soon. There are several ways to order food at the food court location including ordering online for pickup, ordering on the touch screens or ordering the express items. I opted to order the express items which was pretty cheap. I ordered the black pepper beef and honey walnut shrimp. My friend ordered the kung pao chicken and orange chicken. The quality is not up to par with the actual restaurants. The food tastes stale and not as flavorful as the restaurant. My friend who eats at Home Eat restaurants almost weekly, he thought the food was pretty bad as well. Ordering was simple and very similar to Panda Express. If I ever come back to the Great Mall location, I would order on the touch screens and would order the made to order items instead. read more

Great service, attentive while still giving space if still perusing, and if you're on the fence they also offer samples (which definitely helped wake up the taste buds)! They have entree plates for cold appetizer side dishes and typical to-go hot foods from walnut shrimp, Beijing beef, orange chicken, to name a few. Maybe I'll try another location, it wasn't bad and it wasn't good. The beef wrap was packing tho, except the wrap itself was pretty chewy but really flavorful and I would come back it. The pot stickers were a no from me. They were really nice though. It also took a while when no one was there too. read more

Tried out this new restaurant in the Great Mall food court. There are self-service kiosks and a very extensive menu, with a screen displaying when order numbers are ready to be picked up. Food is packaged in large portions and bagged for to-go by default. There are so many options to choose from at the Great Mall. I have not had the opportunity to try Home Eats before. I was passing by and was offered a shrimp sample -- you NEVER get the good stuff for samples. It's always the cheaper options you get to try. I tried the salt and pepper shrimp, which was delicious -- a little too much breading for me, but the flavor was great. I walked around but ultimately chose to eat here. I went with their fried rice, walnut shrimp, and green bean chicken. It wasn't as good as I was expecting, but it still satisfied. As far as fast food goes, I like this better than panda express. Generous portions to the point I couldn't finish the chicken lol. Located inside Great Mall. This restaurant has a variety of dishes, even more so than any other to go restaurant I've been to. I'm glad they have one that's conveniently inside a shopping mall. I usually get their classic fried chicken wings, but this time I decided to try the salt and pepper chicken. It was decent, but I prefer the saucier version. The service was good: the people were nice and shared about the free drink deal if we shared a review. I appreciated that, since I wasn't aware of it. Do NOT come here unless you want the workers to allow other native Chinese speaking people to cut to the front of the line and then act super rude about it. Food is not worth it. It's literally just subpar Chinese takeout, but with an extra side of unwarranted attitude from the workers. 0/10. I really wish I could leave a 0 star review. Extremely expensive and the food sucks. We got the combination chow mein, which was nasty. The noodles were hard meat was dry. We also got the Mongolian beef, which was more onions scallions than anything else very little meat. We ordered the wings, salt and pepper and we received cold hard, nasty wings. We also had the spicy wings which we love when it comes from the restaurant on fourth Street I believe downtown San Jose. They managed to make those nasty. The great mall location is a big disappointment and I will never order from that restaurant again I will take the extra time to go downtown to pick up my home eats food. They make it fresh and I know I will get tasty food. Don't waste your money or your time on this location. read more

Surprisingly one of the better home eats. Only problem is the freshness is random for seafood. We ordered lobster noodle one time and it was excellent. For Mother's Day, it wasn't fresh at all. This was my second time ordering from Home Eats at Great Mall in Milpitas, and unfortunately, it was a completely different experience from my first visit. The first time I came in (during a weekday with low foot traffic), the food was fresh, hot, and really tasty. That experience made it an easy decision to come back. This recent visit, however, was on a Saturday--and I honestly should have trusted my instincts and walked away. Won't be a next time... It started when I asked a simple question about the two sizes of honey walnut shrimp: one priced around $12 and the other around $20. All I wanted to know was whether the $12 portion would be enough for three people. Instead of a helpful response, the two employees spoke to each other in their native language and dismissively told me "no," with a tone that felt rude and unhelpful. That moment alone made me uncomfortable, and in hindsight, I should have left right then. I decided to order anyway because of my previous good experience--and that was my mistake. The food quality this time was disappointing. The honey walnut shrimp was clearly refried. As someone who cooks regularly, I can tell when fried food has been reheated--it affects the texture, taste, and overall quality. Honestly, it was so bad it made Panda Express's honey walnut shrimp taste golden by comparison. If taking it back would have made a difference I would have shot back there, but knowing what I know about certain establishments. They would not right their wrongs. So it's easier to just not go back. To make matters worse, I also witnessed the two employees scooting themselves across the counter to get to the customer side instead of simply walking around. In a food establishment, seeing shoes come into contact with surfaces near where food is handled is concerning and raises questions about overall cleanliness and hygiene standards. Between the poor customer service, questionable cleanliness, and the food quality, this visit felt like a bait-and-switch compared to my first experience. It's unfortunate, but based on this visit, I won't be returning. Not that it matters to them because I am one person. I just hope others out their step up and speak on it. read more

This is at the Food Court inside the Great Mall. I've tried the one in Cupertino and loved that spot so I thought this would be the same. I ordered the exact same thing. Classic wings, Hot & Sour soup and fried rice. All was mid. The egg was over cooked in the soup, rice was mushy and the wings weren't as glazed and crispy. The service is quick, able to order through a kiosk or with a person. This place needs some help in my opinion. read more

I mainly default for a tomato broth and some type of beef, so opted for Wagyu here. I can say that the Wagyu was pretty chewy and unfortunately not my favorite, but I did enjoy the tomato broth although it was pretty oily. I also enjoyed the Lamb Spine too, it came in a huge portion that gave us leftovers for a full meal the next day. The food is flavorful and the presentation is very nice. I probably wouldn't come back regularly but maybe if I were in the area!

A little more frequent cleaning would go a long way. The whole setup is fully automated--you order from a tablet, get automatically charged for sauces and random apps you may not even want, and then piece together your meal from there. Our "extras" included old marinated mussels, chicken feet, and some sad-looking jelly desserts. The broth was watered down, portions were small, and lunch for two somehow came out to almost $100 with tip and no drinks. For that price, I shouldn't be leaving hungry and annoyed.
