The menu has your standard fare - egg and meat combos with French toast, pancakes, etc - but the portions are generous and the price is reasonable. Good value overall, and would be a great place to bring little ones.

Home Style Cafe is what I was looking for in a go-to cafe for breakfast and lunch when I moved to Fort Bragg eight years ago from Healdsburg, California. Home Style Cafe's menu has never failed me in those years during which I have dined an average of three to four times a week. "Cordy," owner-operator, and the wait staff create an efficient and friendly atmosphere in the comforting natural wood-finished dining area. Biscuits and gravy are the best I have ever had.

Pair them with the excellent chicken fried steak and home fries for an extra special reward on a diet cheat day. Or, skip the crispy tender chicken fried steak and have a couple of fluffy scrambled eggs with those biscuits and gravy....

something extra in the batter that enlarges the flavor deliciously, perhaps some vanilla? I got curious once but didn't find vanilla mentioned in online recipes. I should ask? The cold tuna salad sandwich with Home Style's homemade potato chips is not to be forgotten in any recommendations of this cafe. The chips are simple without flavors other than an appropriate level of salt. And so fresh. The hot and cold sandwich and burger selections are superb. The fries, ditto. Salads are of equal caliber... As I said at the start the Home Style's menu has never failed me for delicious taste and quality. I could go down the menu with glowing comments, but I will just finish with one lament. During the pandemic, it was hard to find kitchen staff. Home Style had to adopt a Mondays and Tuesdays closed schedule. I hope that can change. There is another cafe equidistant from my house that I can walk to on Mondays and Tuesdays, but it just isn't the same.

A restaurant that reassures their customers that everything is sanitized, now that's a first. On top of that, our waitress was amazing. She had such a great personality, she was kind, and made us feel right at home. I had the veggie omelette with sautéed spinach, mushrooms, and onions, My omelette, potatoes and biscuit were excellent. The biscuits especially, the perfect recipe and perfectly baked. They're a must order.

Nice local spot to stop in and have a home style breakfast that's dog friendly with covered outdoor seating. I heard they were known for their biscuits and gravy so that's what I ordered, honestly wasn't anything special to me, although the biscuits themselves were pretty good. My kids ordered pancakes, they were very large and good. The staff was very friendly and accommodating but I felt like the wait for food was very long.

we went in at 8:30 on a Friday morning. There was one server there and the lobby was empty besides one guest and we got the most terrible service from that waitress. She didn't acknowledge us for saying thank you you welcome anything very rude brought us dirty silverware we asked for it to be exchanged. She just picked it up and walked away without saying I'm sorry or anything. Her attitude was terrible. The food was OK but her service and her attitude towards the customers poor poor poor. unless you are a local tourist service was absolutely the worst I've experienced. We've been to other cafés in the morning. We would not be returning to this one, and I will tell all my friends and colleagues and coworkers if you come down here do not go there at that time of day in that morning with that sever.

I stopped by here on my travels through the area. This is exactly what you think of when you think of a small town cafe, it was so nostalgic and awesome. The staff were welcoming and the food was delicious best French Toast west of the Rockies guaranteed.

Really good home style meal Returned 2 days later and enjoyed their biscuit and gravy with a egg meal very filling couldn't eat it all and I so badly wanted to. They have very good coffee too. I would eat there twice a week if I lived in the area.

This locally owned restaurant was suggested to my friend and I. We were seated and given menus right away. It is a little small inside and they have I think two picnic benches outside for dining out there as well. They offered breakfast meals ranging from egg platters, french toast, waffles, pancakes, omelettes, sandwiches, huevos rancheros, and burrito. I chose the western omelette with a pancake. My friend chose the french toast combo. We waited about 15 minutes for food to arrive. my personal opinion on the omelette was that it was ok I did have to add extra seasoning on mine. The veggies and ham were largely chopped and I'm not too sure how I feel about it. The ham was a little cold as well. No seasoning on the potatoes so had to add that, which I think its pretty typical for most places anyways. I did order a side of sour cream to have with my omelette. I had a bite of my friends french toast and thought it tasted good, but my friend did not enjoy it. She stated it was "over battered and over cooked and had no flavor". I'm giving 3 stars because I just feel the whole experience was "ok". Our server was the normal friendly. I think there were only two servers and they both seemed busy. I paid $2.75 for a side of sour cream, which seems pretty extreme to me because I don't think I've ever paid that much for a side of anything before. We were told the biscuits and gravy was the star of the show, but neither of us had that so maybe I'd have try it if we ever came back.

After a busy work night last night I decided to let someone else cook breakfast and after a bit of shopping for necessities, I chose Homestyle Cafe. Cordelia has been a fixture in the culinary scene here for a long time and she is known for great food with a good presentation for a fair price. I was dying for a hamburger which was perfect, ask for the Montreal seasoning. The biscuits and gravy were superb but not too heavy, a testament to the chefs magic and the eggs cooked to perfection. Try the Chili Gods sauce too. Whether you are a local or just in town to visit, come try the food here and soak up the locals atmosphere.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and saw this place advertising "the best meal in town!". Damn right, this was one delicious, affordable meal. We ordered french toast with eggs and sausage, one pancake, and a BLT with avocado on sour dough. Everything was so deliciously made. Yes, it's straightforward diner food but man does it hit the spot. That one pancake is HUGE, so fluffy too! The BLT was so fresh, excellent tomatoes, nicely cooked bacon, ripe avocados, toasted fresh sour dough, with a side of really good pickles. Service was painfully slow, almost infuriatingly slow haha, but our servers were so kind and the food so good, it was forgivable. Cute, quaint, decor. I recommend this to anyone staying in the area or passing by! read more

We went here for breakfast today. The portions are large so keep that in mind. Pancakes are very thick and very good. Staff is very nice and pets are allowed at outdoor tables. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast. Maybe we'll try lunch next time. read more

I abhor slangs, but this place slaps. Affordable, friendly, and has great breakfast and lunch offerings. Ate there many times and never disappoints. Ok, ok, I know some stuff they serve comes ready made off the truck and all that, but I measure a breakfast on the coffee, the promptness and whether or not my hash brown is an hour old. I have a lot of their menu and it is genuine from the heart food to get your day going. Glad to see they survived covid. P.S Eggheads, you suck. read more

This restaurant had a unique idea to have pop ups for each table which was wonderful. The waitress' were working together and were friendly and prompt. THE FOOD was amazing. I had an omelette and biscuits and gravy. WOW, so good to took the leftovers for lunch. My boyfriend also had an omelet, and it's was delicious. Our son had a waffle and he ate every bite. This place is a must !! read more

Quick service and we could sit with our dog outside on the patio area. The owner brought out a piece of bacon for our dog. My kids loved the French toast. The western omelette was delicious. Highly recommend for a quick breakfast. read more

Excellent service and delicious "home cooked" food. The chicken fried steak is made from scratch. The hash brown potatoes are just like my grandma used to make. They also serve a delicious green Chile sauce which you can purchase at the counter. I highly recommend stopping in for breakfast or brunch! read more

This place is amazing!! The sign says it's worth the wait and that's no lie! The hard working and very friendly waitress took care of us so incredibly. She made sure we had everything, checked on us regularly even though she was managing all of the other tables. The servings were big and came with plenty extra goodies. I had a custom omelet made to perfection, country potatoes & the side of fruit was unique fresh and delicious. My husband had country fried steak and wasn't able to save any to take with as he had planned when he first received his plate ... it was that good! We definitely recommend visiting and enjoying this place yourself. read more

This place is an absolute gem - really had the most delicious and lovely breakfast here. Both my husband and I got the two egg breakfasts - blown away by the amount of food but every individual thing was delicious. The main event had to be the biscuits - HUGE, light, flakey. The service was warm and perfect for a diner. We sat outside in their covid tents and it was lovely. Will certainly be back next time we are on the north coast. read more

We went at about noon on a weekday for lunch. My wife had the French dip with Ortega chili and I had the mushroom burger. Both were very good. We had the good strong coffee and they left a pot for refills. Nice. Also had sides of good fries and onion rings. Each outside wood table was under its own easy-up and had a plastic top sheet that they sanitized between customers. All other COVID protocols were practiced so it felt very safe. read more

We are so happy Homestyle Café is back open after their vacation. Excellent cheeseburgers from the first bite until the last bite. No saving of calories on these because you MUST eat the entire burger. Get there early because they get busy. Not only are the burgers excellent but you cannot go wrong with any item on the menu. read more

Solid diner food. The veggie omelette was solid, but the real star of the show was the biscuits. The waitress asked, toast or biscuits? I said: biscuits. How often is that even a choice. You've gotta take advantage of opportunities like this. I had no idea what I was in for. Nice little Cafe to stop by for lunch from our vacation trip home. I ordered the Cowgirl burger and fries. I had the burger cooked medium, with Ortega chilies and a side of ranch dressing. The entire order was 100 percent correct and was perfectly cooked. The burger was huge and very tasty. The fries were crispy and seemed to be fresh cut. Overall I couldn't be happier with my order. Waitresses were super friendly and fast with my order. I will definitely stop on by for lunch on my next trip to Fort Bragg. read more

We went here both days we were in town. We tried Eggheads over 4 years ago and the food wasn't nearly as memorable. The service was awesome here and it really is home cooked food from scratch. We will probably go here any time we visit. We had the chicken fried steak breakfast, side of bacon, a veggie omelette, French toast, and huevos rancheros. Ask for the green chili sauce! It is made in Sonoma county (I'm not usually a big fan of green sauce). read more

This has turned into our favorite breakfast spot in Fort Bragg. They make really wonderful omlets, as well as good hot cakes, homestyle potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and any other diner classic you can think of. I'm particularly fond of the daily veggie omlet. They are always full to bursting with tasty, fresh things. Most recently it was tomatoes and avocado. On the weekend, you may have a long wait for a table, especially since the dining area is relatively small. The prices are fairly reasonable and the portions are sizeable.The ladies who run the front of the house are always friendly and they never stop moving, which mitigates any lag in service. A must-try if you happen to be in town. read more

Amazing food, Amazing service. Our waitress Erica was the sweetest and had such a bubbly personality. Felt like she was part of the family! I ordered a bacon omelete shripwreck style with pepper jack cheese and added mushrooms. It is basically everything scrambled together including the hashbrowns. One of the best breakfast meals I have ever eaten. Biscuits and gravy were also delicious, soft and crumbly. Everything was very fresh. If we ever drive up the coast again and are in this area we will definitely be back! read more

They charged me $8.71 for a small cup of plain oatmeal, plain, nothing else. That's about the price for some of their complete breakfasts. Guess they are trying to make all the money they can during the fires, by gouging, so they can get through the rainy season. read more

Coffee on point with 2 selections dark or light roast, creamer served in earth friendly metal pour creamer cup (no harmful plastic single use containers). Ohhhhhhh yaaaaaa!!!!!!! I have lived here in Fort Bragg three years now and only a few days ago, I was introduced to Home Style Cafe. The best part, it's only two blocks from where I live. I'm disabled and use a motorized chair to get around, so it's heaven to have somewhere close to go. Anyway, I love this place. Homemade potato chips! Are you kidding me? I love them with no salt. Well, you salt your own. Works for me for sure. I had a 1/2 pound mushroom, cheese, lettuce, tomato, sweet red onion, and pickle hamburger. Oh, and they use BEST FOOD MAYONNAISE. WHAT???????? What restaurant does that. I don't know of any that do, do you? Their BISCUITS are to die for! I prefer my own breakfast gravy, but theirs isn't too bad. Mine is better though!!!!! I recommend this place 100%. read more

We would NOT recommend this restaurant. We waited 45 minutes for a table and then another 45 minutes for our food. The food was lukewarm. They are understaffed and overworked. We wanted to support this local women's business, but we're very disappointed in the food and service. read more

Established in 1985.

In 1985 Cordelia Fortier & Lynn Derrick said, "What this town needs is a cafe that caters to locals as well as tourists". A place with great "from-scratch-made" American diner fare, friendly service, & great prices. Lynn moved on & Cordelia has been sole owner since April 1991, keeping to the original intent with upgrades to suit the tastes of changing appetites & diets. In other words, All Are Welcome Here to Relax & Eat just like Home. Make yourself "at home" in our casual dining room with a view.

Meet the Business Owner: Cordelia F.

As a small child with a single working mom, helping in the kitchen was a "must" as soon as you could reach the counter with a step-stool. My sister & I used to experiment in the kitchen while mom was at work. Being a young single working mom myself, I waitressed for 8 years at a chain restaurant where I met my former partner, Lynn. We raised funds from friends & family who "knew we could do it" & opened this cafe on December 28, 1985. In April 1991, Lynn left to pursue a separate career & I have operated solely since then, raising my daughter & becoming a "proud grandmaCordy" of 2 sweet ones. I appreciate your suggestions. Tastes change over the years.

The rest of the paintings were jarringly gorgeous. And the food. We had the marsala chicken and the coconut curry. I am a sucker for polenta and it perfectly absorbed the marsala sauce: other worldly. As another person from a small town, tip your servers in cash, people. Northern Californians are just trying to get by!

After a walk along the coast and an appetite has been acquired, it is a short walk to this small fancy restaurant just off of downtown. Upon entering, there is a small initimate bar, dining area and a patio out back for "al fresco" dining. By San Francisco Bay Area city standards, it is not fancy in the luxurious, posh sense, but here, seafood is the star! First up, Oysters Rockefeller appetizer. Frankly, they could have been prepared any which way - for the oyster fan, they were fresh and delicious! The salmon was good (although a bit overcooked, the waiter didn't ask how it should be cooked). The salmon came perched atop garlic mashed potatoes that were out of this world! The scallops were so fresh and tasty and perfectly paired with polenta and farm fresh asparagus! They also feature Northern California (as in North of the San Francisco Bay Area) wines and beers, something not readily found outside Mendocino County. There was no room for dessert, guaranteeing a trip back to get the full-on meal experience! The environment is convivial. On a late May early evening, there were graduation dinners out back on the patio, an intimate shared dinner with drinks going on in the bar, and ladies who dine in the corner. Another unique aspect of this restaurant is that it is very close (as in feet away) from the Mendocino Skunk train. Diners will experience the train horn, warning signals and small tremors caused by the train chugging by at any time during their meal. There are also people working out on pedal bikes (yes *on* the tracks) to get exercise on their tour of the redwoods in Mendocino! It added to the ambience as an "only in Fort Bragg" experience! We had a great meal and will be going back!

Staff were friendly and service was prompt. Our Bloody Marys were tasty. We had the cerviche which came with what seems like homemade chips- it tasted fresh. We also had the grilled cod tacos with black beans and rice which were good. I'd go back!

Very rich, deeply cheesy. I didn't sense any wine in that cheese sauce at all as advertised. It's thick. Little salad was delicious with olives and peppercinis. Loved that little basic item. Cheese pizza- ok. Cheese tastes like good quality. Crust was just eh. They ran out of bread so they brought us focaccia. It was good. Spumoni- icy. Good flavor. Ok. Wouldn't get it again, more icy than creamy.

Of all the restaurants in town, this is my favorite. I'm a French dip connoisseur, if it's on the menu, I'm getting it so I've had my fair share of French dips over the years. Of all the places I've had one, Homestyle's is the absolute best. The au jus is just right, the meat is fresh and the perfect amount (not too much, not to little) the French fries are fresh and flavorful. Overall, top quality in my opinion. The only bad thing is, I usually use most of the au jus on just half of the sandwich so to get more for the other half, they charge you for it. There should be enough au jus to last the entire sandwich. Their ham and cheese scramble is to die for as well. read more

I just moved to Fort Bragg and have been exploring. I overheard some tourists on the beach talking about the fantastic breakfast they had at Home Style Cafe, so I decided to check it out and I am GLAD I DID. It was very inexpensive (my total came to just over $8 with breakfast and coffee) and very filling. I barely finished my potatoes. I think I've found my new breakfast spot! read more

Good French Roast, delicious bacon and eggs, biscuits, and burgers. Homemade soups are a meal enough for me. I also love their salads. I don't like cinnamon in my french toast. Family friendly & tables can be moved to accomodate large groups. Very homey & local. French dip a favorite. read more
