We sat on the patio and had strong cheap drinks before ordering 5 different appetizers (calamari, zuppa vongole, shrimp Mozambique, wings and mussels) all were extremely fresh and flavorful, especially the seafood! There are new owners at this establishment and it has gone down hill. In just 2 weeks. An unfortunate incident happened and their newer wait staff could use some training before taking it out on future customers. I attempted to make this known on their FB page, but unfortunately, my comment was removed and I am now blocked from making any public comments or emailing them. A friend attempted to email them, they denied removing any comments (lies and I have the screen shots) then her comment was removed and she is now unable to comment or email them again also. So, my point in this review is not to bash the new owners but to give factual information about my personal experience with them that involved others. I will never go back there as long as they treat their customers poorly which is unfortunate because it was like a home sort of environment under the previous ownership. The staff who have been there prior to the new ownership are fabulous and always gave great service. The new owners were unwilling to offer an explanation or consider there was a misunderstanding. While the interior is very similar to previous restaurant housed here the service and quality of food is much better. Portions aren't too big or too small and price point is great. Kids linguine with meatball is my sons favorite and my husband loves their burgers. Their salads and sandwiches never disappoint and their pasta dishes are solid as well. I was excited to try the food here I heard good things about it from a friend. Um, I'm not sure what went wrong but our experience was not the greatest. We walked in and the lady greeting us was on the phone which truly isn't a big deal she told us to go seat ourselves which we did. The service wasn't bad which is why I'm giving three stars. I ordered the special which was a patty melt. I asked for it to be well done no pink. Everyone has their own preference on meat temperature but I am that person who means no pink, you could burn it and I'd be happy. I got the patty melt and bit into it and sadly it was all pink. I thought maybe just a bad bite so I cut it in half and it was maybe cooked medium. I'm not sure how no pink turned into medium rare but here we are. I didn't even eat it and knew better to send it back, this isn't the place you send things back at. Extremely disappointed and a huge waste of money. read more

Absolutely horrendous service. Came in on a Tuesday night. No one else at the bar asked the bartender to put on a news station and was told news wasn't allowed at the bar because it was "too aggressive". Bar closed at 10pm. Asked for last call at 9:40 and was told "oh no we can't do that we have to be closed by 10pm". As we were leaving we could clearly hear the bartenders referring to us as "assholes" as we were leaving. As we walked out the door we were condescendingly told to "have a wonderful night". Today I ordered the Baked Scrod as a take out order. I should have know things were not going to be good based on how the telephone order was handled. I stated that I wanted to place a take-out order and said I wanted the Baked Scrod. The receptionist then wanted my name and phone number. I was a bit taken aback and asked whether she didn't want to know my choice of sides... she seemed confused! But still she wanted my name and number first! Finally she listed all sides in a rapid-fire litany and I made my choice. The order was picked up and then the real DISAPPOINTMENT started. Two weeks ago I had ordered the same dinner so I clearly had a comparison (that dinner was delicious!). When I opened the container I was again taken aback... my vegetable and starch were there along with the scrod in an aluminum package! Really? Over $21.00 for a dinner served in an aluminum packet!!! Okay... I ate the scrod and it was dry unlike the last time I had the same dinner. I was very disappointed, but decided not to post a public review but to call the restaurant and speak to the manager. Boy, was that a mistake!!! I asked to speak to the manager and was told that she was not there. I asked if she would be in later. I was told she would not be. I then asked for the manager's name and was told it was "THE MANAGER"! After asking several more times the only response from this "person" was her asking my name. If she's not going to give me the manager's name I most certainly was not giving her mine!!!! Oh... while I was still taking she hung up!!! UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL I EVER AGAIN GET ANYTHING FROM THIS RESTAUTANT IN THE FUTURE AND WILL MAKE SURE ALL MY ACQUAINTANCES KNOW THE LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM AND THE RUDENESS THAT SEEMS TO BE THE NORM HERE!! BTW: I do not have an issue with giving my name and phone number (as that is always required for pick-up orders)... my issue is that I expected to finish providing my order choices first! But much more importantly was the fact that when I asked for the manager's name (so that I could ask for her by name the next day ) I was met with an attitude from this woman and was told that it was "THE MANAGER"! I was the paying customer, I have no intention of putting up with that kind of attitude. Maybe if I had been swearing or abusive, but I was only asking for the manger's name so I could ask for her by name (trying to be polite which seems to be something this woman knows nothing about!). I went to the restaurant tonight and was looking at the pasta menu. Noticed there was one or two items on there that I was interested in but it was written that it had lemon sauce so I ordered the shrimp Mozambique that doesn't say anything about lemon on the menu when I received it I took a bite of the shrimp and thought it tasted a little different. I asked my husband to taste it. He took a shrimp and he said there was lemon in it when the waitress came over I asked her and she said yes, there was lemon they took it back. The manager came over with the worst attitude I've ever had experienced in restaurants ever and told me that there was two shrimp missing she can't take the food off them bill because there was two shrimp missing !!' I never asked for them to take it off the bill, but that would've been the right thing to do. I will never go back to that restaurant. The management was horrific it was embarrassing. The way she spoke to me I have been a manager of a Subway for 16 years, and would not even think to treat my customers that way. read more

We visited here tonight, for a Friday around 7 PM it wasn't all that busy; there were more than a few empty tables, however the bar seating was full to capacity. The hostess greeted us right away and brought us to an empty table, right next to the men's restroom. The table was still being cleared by the girl busing it. The hostess took the menus, and kind of dropped them on the banquette and said something along the lines of 'here are your menus and specials, someone will be by in a minute' and walked off. I wasn't impressed by her demeanor, especially being a first time patron. Our server came by quick, introduced herself and took our drink orders. A few minutes later she asked for our dinner order. We ordered the fish & chips and the grilled sirloin tips. The food was delivered, a heavy plate of fries with 2 portions of fish on top. The sirloin tips were served with mashed potatoes, broccoli and a heavy covering of mushroom demi-glas. The fish was ok, the steak was tender, but had zero taste. The server came by after the food was delivered with extra condiments, asked if we wanted a 2nd refill on drinks. From there, we waited for almost 30 minutes before she checked on us. I didn't finish the steak, because of the bland taste, even trying to season it with salt & pepper didn't help. I hope they do well, but I don't think that we'll return. Mostly I was immediately turned off by the hostess' way that she brought us to a 1/2 cleared table, and we were left standing there until the table was cleared... Awkward! Food was garbage. Steak and cheese sandwich was hamburger on a roll with no flavor. Broccoli in Alfredo was hard like it was just pulled off the bunch. Would not recommend at all. I can't even believe what happened here tonight. This was my first, and definitely ONLY time here. This place needs to be shut down. We ordered our dinner and waited for an hour and a half before ONE of the several meals was brought out, and then the others were brought out about 15 minutes later. There were other issues like wrong drinks being delivered and a food allergy not being addressed correctly. The waitress was very apologetic and kind and the hostess was very sweet. As frustrated as I was with the wait-time and issues, it seemed that at least there was some compassion in some of the workers. Several times the people I was with had asked to speak to the manager. This did not happen, though we did see the manager mingling with the band and friends during this time-frame. At the end of the dinner, poor reviews were written by some of the other attendees of the dinner party I was with. I finally ordered an after dinner beverage and sat down with my husband to enjoy the night near the band. I was approached by the "manager" saying that the owner wanted us to leave since we were obviously unhappy with the review that was written. I explained that I was unaware of what had happened and had just ordered a drink. She LITERALLY ripped the drink out of my hand that I had just paid for.. and told us to leave or she would call the police. I got up to leave and saw the "owner" and went to speak to her. The owner immediately pointed her finger in my face and yelled at me calling a "bitch" several times and telling me to get " the fuck out". I had nothing to do with whatever was going on behind the scenes... I'm still trying to take it all in. I HIGHLY suggest you do NOT go to the establishment. Was our first night in a new town and got their menu in the mail so figured we'd give them a try since we had no food in the house yet and were really hungry. We ordered chicken Parmesan and eggplant Parmesan. It wasn't horrible, it wasn't good either though. The chicken was a small piece over a lot of pasta and hardly any cheese. The eggplant was smothered in cheese though (maybe to hide the eggplant). The pasta for both was gummy, like it was overcooked. Both dishes seemed as though they were microwaved leftovers and not cooked fresh. Usually when I'm hungry anything tastes great but even though I was starving this was still just meh. :( read more

Went to the Hometown Tavern on St. Patrick's Day. Although it was very busy, everything was great. The band was excellent, and the service was wonderful. I had one of the best corned beef dinners I've ever had. I like how there are several bartenders, and they all circulate around the bar helping everyone instead of just working one little section. Under new ownership, I was extremely curious what sort of changes I might see. Additions have been made... Keno, a pool table and a jukebox were the first signs this was not Hometown Tavern of old!! I also chose a night with an incredible band and the place was rocking!! Staff was hustling but they greeted my party and everyone I saw with a smile and a obviously love what they do!! Wait staff was attentive, bartenders were warm and engaging.... And the food!!! From the melt in you mouth steak tips to the tasty chicken parm to the delicious pizza... everything was fresh, hot and worth ordering again!! It is clear under new ownership and management thst this is a restaurant that is striving to create a new environment in a "hometown " staple. So far ... they are killing it! Hometown Tavern is a welcome addition to the landscape of the former Tuscan Tavern. The interior redesign is wonderful. For sports fans there are terrific large flat screen TVs everywhere that doesn't upset the ambiance for diners. There is visibility from almost any seat for avid fans. The food was delicious! Wait time with a full parking lot was very quick. The spinach olio was yummy. I have only one criticism- the pieces of spinach were long and the dinner and steak knives could not cut it down to a manageable bite size. I recommend a solution for younger diners. Prices were in the mid to high range. Expect to pay about $80.00 for two with two drinks, two appetizers and two meals. Menu covers just about anything you like to eat. read more

This place was horrible I went with my wife and kids on a Sunday night one of my daughters and I received our food my other daughter received her food 10 minutes later and my wife after 20 minutes they soon we cancelled my wife's plate and no body seemed to care not even the manager. Seems they only cater and care if you are sitting around the bar . I should have listened to the reviews but figured I'd try it for myself. I'll never return here again nor do I recommend it . I can't believe the service here. Took ten minutes for anyone to come to us. Five out of our seven "clams casino" had absolutely no clam in it. You got a mouth full of ritz cracker. When we kindly asked the waitress about it she rudely said, "that's how we make them here." A shame, the band there was excellent! We made our New Years Eve reservation a month ago for a prefixed dinner. We had a large party and the place was packed. The band Back In The Day was SO amazing; the entertainment usually is. The food and service, though, were unacceptable. They were clearly in over their heads. We were left hungry and thirsty. We got salads reasonably close to when we ordered, but appetizers and mains came literally over 2 hours later. Some appetizers came out with the entree. The food was inedible and should not have been allowed to even leave the kitchen. It was not properly cooked; either overdone or ice cold/raw. We were asked about drinks 2 times the whole night. Dessert finally came much later too. People off the street were coming in and served before us. Granted, we were a large party and the servers did their best but were overwhelmed and frustrated. The restaurant clearly overbooked themselves, knowing their staff, menu and service limitations. They charged upfront $75 pp plus drinks and added the tip to the bill even though they ran out of the prefixed menu items and continued to allow people in off the street, knowing they were not fulfilling their reservation obligations. We were offered a gift card to come back for an amount that did not even touch the surface of our disappointment. We did not accept it as nobody from our group planned to return. If you love wings and spicy I highly recommend getting the mango habanero wings, absolutely delicious and had the perfect level of heat to it. The pizza and chicken parmigiana is delicious. Fun atmosphere, poor acoustics for live music. The establishment needs some framed carpet pieces, or something of that nature, along the walls to absorb the sound. Party of four next to us had their meals delivered so far apart they couldn't eat together. Out bill was actually that of another party and was pointed out to the waiter.
