I have had two terrible experiences with the Service Department at Honda San Carlos. In one case they did not listen to what I asked for and instead performed unnecessary work so that they could charge me a big fee to get my car back. In another instance I had to bring my car back multiple times to get a simple emissions repair completed. Never service your car here! They will perform services that you did not request without asking. I brought my car in because it was displaying maintenance code A127. Here is what that code means: * A: Replace oil without changing the filter * 1: Rotate tires * 2: Replace engine air cleaner and cabin filter, inspect drive belt * 7: Replace brake fluid However, they didn't do service A127. They did service B1237 which costs about $500 more, and it includes REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLUID. I didn't ask for this. Nobody talked to me about it. No cost estimate was given. They just quietly added it to my service form hoping that I wouldn't notice. The maintenance code A127 was obvious: * It was shown on the car display * I mentioned it on my reservation form * I mentioned it verbally to my service advisor When I picked up the car later I was shocked to see a bill for more than $1000. I called them later to discuss why they added the extra services, and my service advisor went on about how important it is to change the transmission fluid. Really? I guess they just feel like they can add services without talking to you about it. By the way, my car only has 25,000 miles on it. Ask any auto mechanic you know if that's the recommended mileage for changing transmission fluid. Wow! I've been going to San Carlos Honda for service for almost 10 years. No longer! They have completely lost my trust. read more

I have opted out of the texts (they always come back), I have kindly asked the callers to remove me from the call list, but it never ends. If I could give zero stars I would! I came here to service my car, had an appointment at 2, was in time and told go inside to check in. I went inside, no one helped me! Then the parts guy said wait for your name to be called. Waited and waited, after 10 minutes, I asked the girl that was there who was just chilling listening to her AirPods and she said wait and someone will call you. Finally got called up after 30 minutes- mind you no one was waiting, wasn't like there was lines, nothing. Then the guy gave some bs that sorry it took so long he was outside with a customer, lies, my husband just moved his car and saw the guys outside smoking. She also performed another check on a recall that been done back in 2022 for my AC. Turns out that my AC was leaking. They replaced my condenser and the compressor shaft seal. Yesterday, as soon as I arrived Hector greeted me and made me feel welcome without an appointment and he was courteous and friendly, then Al took over and took care of the service for my Honda Pilot and explained to me the process in details and invited me and wife to the waiting area in their new and beautiful building to get coffee and/or tea. Minutes later, Hector passed by and acknowledged my presence and welcomed me again with a gentle gesture and a quick nice chat, then after some time Al came by and gave me an update of my Pilot's service progress. We'd like to Ditto Ryan's review. We too, like Ryan, picked Honda of San Carlos because it was close to our home. Hector (salesperson) was just coming into work when we stopped to ask him where to park (since the site is under construction so there was not much guest parking) and Hector was kind enough to direct us and asked how he could help. We were looking for a Civic Hybrid to test drive and Hector went and got keys to whatever model we wanted to test drive and we drove several models and finally settled on the Touring model. We asked about price and they told us that they do not have any markups and the sticker price is what they offer. Other dealerships may have a price that is lower than sticker but it's usually on one car but that's to get you in and then upsell you to a higher priced car. We had gotten an offer though our Credit Union network which was about $1000 less but the car was in So Cal and we'd have to pay $200 to get it up here and couldn't do a trade-in, we had a trade-in car so it was a wash. I would say that all staff members are friendly. professional with absolutely NO PRESSURE. Denzo, the finance person was also very professional and did NOT push products, he gave us an option for an extended warranty but that was it, the rest was just signing the paper work. Again, everyone at Honda of San Carlos was really nice and again NO PRESSURE or at least we didn't get any pressure. Note: We stopped at Toyota before going to Honda but the sales person at Toyota was not real engaging and said he didn't have any Hybrids to test drive, he seemed uninterested unlike Hector and his manager Luis and Denzo the finance person. read more
