Took complete advantage of senior citizen. 2006 F-250 charged $6300 for ball joints, tie rod ends etc. Didn't press ball joints completely, no snap/lock rings installed, didn't even install grease perks, returned truck with drivability issue, they said "ball joints needed to wear" they charged for work not performed (alignment and diff fluid change) took truck apart and actually brought the knuckles and spindles back to show, was told "GM will contact you" no word from them. My front passenger side tire had a slow leak in it and wanted to see if it could be repaired. Made an appointment online which was quick and easy. Dropped off my vehicle and within 2 hours the tire was repaired and cost me only $48 in total. Great front desk guys. They seemed honest and hardworking. NEVER AGAIN ! Went in to get an oil leak repaired because of a bad gasket. Still not repaired after 6 return visits and in the process because it didn't get fixed the leaking oil burnt out my alternator and depleted my battery life. Not only paid for something that they didn't have basic mechanic skills to fix, I also had to buy a new alternator, battery, and road assistance. read more

I brought my car in with a 3rd party extended service plan to fix my A/C. "Honest"-1 Auto Care told me they had to do a $175 diagnostic to fix the problem. I declined and took it to Luther Kia. In less then 1 hour they diagnosed they problem and got the repair authorized from the extended service company. In addition, "Honest" 1 Auto spilled some crap on my hood and charged me for their incorrect diagnostic . Shame on them!!!!!! read more

My girlfriend brought in her car to Honest One on 2217 Lyndale Ave S. who has always been helpful in the past and if I can post pictures here they ruined the back seat leather by leaving a tool and opening the 60/40 split seats. It would had been better if they left a lit cigarette in the car. Also, Mark offered to clean it but that's not the issue. They caused roughly about 1000 dollars in damage to her back seat. I have a background in Management of Dealers from Luther, Walser, Metro, Morries (with Morrie Wagner not Now), Jeff Belzer's, Wayzata Auto Mall (Lexus, Mitsubishi, Chevy), and Kline Volvo. They Offered to Clean up all the Automotive grease (Why would they offer a $260.00 detail when they say they didn't do it to the back seat? but it's the Tool which I know which tool it was and they will be going to court. TRUST REVIEWS PLEASE. PLACE IS A SCAM FILLED WITH SCAM ARTISTS. Long story short I brought my car in for 1 thing then magically something else broke and I told them not to work on it if the cost is outside of our agreed upon budget. They go $200 over the agreed budget and then proceeded to threaten to tow it and charge me tow and lot fees if I don't get it within the day. brought my car in to get my fuel line done. First they charge me $55 to look at the leak that he said he could see from inside the shop. Then they do the send and return lines on my vehicle for $350 but add that it's still leaking due to them not repairing the exhaust fuel line. They quote me at $470 saying they would have to drop the tank. Then they find an access panel in my trunk making the fix a breeze. I trust them to do it for at least cheaper than the 350 they just charged for the line that goes from the front to the back of the car. He ensures me that if it's anything over $200-$300 he will let me know and I would just come and pick it up and work on it myself. I waited a few days and I asked if the leak is so bad I can't drive it off. He lies and tells me I wouldn't even be able to start it with the leak that's happening. I've researched and learned that that wasn't true at all. After waiting a weekfor there technicians to stop calling off work (obviously because it snowed a couple of times in those few days) I finally got it done and the quote for the tiny lines with easy access is $425 almost an extra hundred on top of what the lines from the front to the back cost! Now that they've gone outside of my planned and agreed upon budget they're threatening to have the car towed to a storage lot and charging me MORE for the tow and storage fees. My husband went to pick up our car only to find out it was broken into during their care. Not only did they not notify us beforehand, they were unsympathetic and refused to take liability for the window repair. They quoted us 500 dollars! We asked to have the manager call and he never did, so we reached out today and he maintained the shop wouldn't cover the repair. He was rude and kept trying to get rid of us on the phone. I had been going here for years and always got good service. Today however I went in for a simple oil change and they messed around with my tire pressure sensor. After doing this they recommended I get the tire pressure sensor fixed. I declined. Once I got back in my car that's when I realized they had actually broken it. It had been working before I brought it in. I have a front tire that leaks air sometimes so I depend on that sensor. I don't have enough money to get tire replaced at the moment. I called them to talk about this and they denied they had anything to do with it and basically told me too bad. Will never be returning to this shop again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! Do not trust positive Google reviews. I made the mistake of seeing Google only and those ratings do not follow the standard deviation bell curve. Negative reviews are consistent both on Yelp and Google. Brought in SUV to check out the engine light. I had prior info it was a wire caused by rodent damage which I informed Andrew the service advisor about and that it would be covered by insurance. Quickly I got a message it's the pedal sensor, also the battery needed replacing, with no sign of rodent damage. Andrew revealed there were rodent droppings but no damage. Original quote was $450 but quickly inflated to $1,000+ for the "free" engine scan/electrical concern $320 and battery $400. Note: If your engine light goes on, O'Reilly/AutoZone have free readings. If it's the battery, they will install free if you purchase the part there. Or buy a code reader on Amazon for $20. I wanted a 2nd opinion so I told Mark the manager I'd like to pick up the car and he reacted very negatively saying I had to pay $180. He added "better hurry because cars get stolen around here". (Note: read Yelp review of woman's car stolen there after servicing and shop showed zero accountability nor followed up with police.) I said I asked for the free scan, he stated "the diagnosis isn't free". Essentially, it's $180 so do not fall for this. I hadn't approved labor now the car was held hostage. It reflects poorly on the franchise when they claim to take pride in working with women as this couldn't be farther from the truth. I didn't want to waste $180 without a solution so I reluctantly agreed to pay $600 for the sensor, and remove the battery charge which he conceded was something I myself could do. When asked to apply a coupon, he argued that was for services $750+ when he should know there is $50 off services $250+. When we landed on the total he asked spitefully "can you swing that?" The level of unprofessionalism was stunningly embarrassing to say the least. I asked to update the order so I could approve it. He refused saying we can approve verbally until I said I needed it for records. Next day I get a call saying it's the "computer" and further diagnostics was needed. The estimate shot back up to $1,000+. I told Andrew I didn't want to do business and wanted the car back. He shared many bizarre analogies about his chiropractor, flat earth, and how everyone pays up if they want their car back. Then he angrily said to pick up the car. When we got there we found it no longer accelerated. It was drivable when we dropped it off but had it towed there for safety. When informed, Mark and Andrew went to the back confirmed it and there was no accountability. Then Mark threw his donut and launched into a tirade pointing his finger in my face shouting it's not his problem, it was towed in, I refused to pay for services (even though I agreed to pay for the repair that they couldn't deliver), and that "the car is dead! The computer, the brains, it's dead! It took its last ride to the back." He told me to take his fatherly advice and give up. (The car only has 100K miles and is worth thousands in this economy.) Not only did they waste our time and energy, the car was in worse condition than we brought it. He yelled to remove it threatening to junk it. Disgusted, I let out a 3 word expletive and he told me not to swear. Infuriated, I said I'm free to speak as I please and he screamed "Not in my presence!" before storming off. I had the car moved. Days later, due to error, the appraiser called Honest 1 instead of the new shop for an estimate. Mark took it upon himself to speak on my claim with no authority as the car was not there and never determined the cause. He told them it was the computer and should not be covered by insurance. I had the car fixed at a dealership in an hour. It was a wire due to rodent damage and it was covered by insurance. Also, nothing was wrong with the battery. If I'd followed Mark's asinine "fatherly advice" I'd be out thousands of dollars for trashing a working vehicle because of a simple wire. read more

Please trust the reviews that people leave for this place! I didn't and I got ripped off. I brought in my car because the ac wasn't working. They looked at it for 25 minutes and charged me 137 dollars for this quick check. They then quoted me over 1000 for the fix. This sounded a little too high so I sent the diagnostic to another shop. They quoted me 130 dollars. Cheaper than honest auto charged me for just the diagnostic. Please don't spend your hard earned money on a place that is so happy to rip you off! Honest-1 Auto on Lyndale lost my car, and offered no apology or monetary compensation for the trouble. I dropped my vehicle off with them 10/25/22 for a check engine light concern. They scanned my car, identified the issue and started repairs a few days later. Upon receiving my final invoice, 11/01/2022, I requested to pick up the vehicle 11/04/2022 (my pay day.) The mechanic on my case, Marc, said that would be no problem. On the fourth, I arrived to pick up my vehicle, Marc greeted me and ran my card for over $700 in services and then handed me my keys. I asked where the car had been parked, and they gestured to the front of the lot. I took a lap around their parking lot and returned rather confused. I watched several mechanics have a conversation and partake in the "search" for my car. Marc returned and told me my car was gone, and that they didn't know what happened to it. I have never been delivered such jarring news by such an unempathetic person. The shop as a whole took no accountability for my stolen vehicle. Marc even blamed me by saying "It's been here so long that I haven't thought about it in days." You would think your mechanic would notice when your car goes missing, but apparently their lot is a free for all. We discussed filing a police report and calling my insurance company. I was told there would be footage of the incident sent to the MPLS PD to help them with my case, and the shop never followed through. I have not heard from them again. I do not even trust that they have security cameras on the property. I understand it is my insurance company's legal responsibility to replace the stolen vehicle, but the amount of disregard for my situation and feelings in that moment makes me never want to work with Honest-1 auto again. It is entirely unacceptable for a vehicle to go missing and no amount of reparations me made to a trusting client. Strongly suggest avoiding this shop. read more

Employees don't follow proper covid safety precautions, and I experienced delayed service of my vehicle despite a scheduled appointment: I was a customer with Honest One for years, and had a unprofessional experience with them and will now stop going there. I first left a review directly with them as a business, giving them a chance to respond and rectify, but as they never reached out to repair the situation, I've decided to leave some public reviews. Firstly, they didn't start servicing my car until 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment. It was one of those below zero days (about a month ago or so), but I saw the people at the desk weren't consistently wearing their masks in the waiting area, so decided to take a walk, as I wasn't comfortable being in that shared breathing air space. If they had serviced my car when it was scheduled to be serviced, it wouldn't be a big deal, as it was a fast repair they were making. But it was such a cold day and I had no where I was comfortable waiting. When I went in to check the status of my appointment, I was super disappointed they hadn't even started working with my car. One employee had no mask in sight, and one pulled up his bandana upon me naming my discomfort with the lack of Covid safety precautions (mask wearing in shared indoor public spaces). If you are taking the safety of our community and Covid 19 seriously, don't go here! It really highlighted the lack of integrity within their leadership, which is unfortunate. I am disappointed how this all unfolded - this is my first time leaving a public review for anything. I really liked going there in the past, but will now find a new mechanic because of their poor response and lack of reaching out to remedy the situation/ decide to make changes with their protocols to keep our community safe. read more

I felt it absolutely necessary to write a review to WARN folks NOT to do business here! My car had to be serviced 4 times in one month! Every week I'd have to take it back in for another problem that wasn't there before it was serviced!!!! They were NOT cooperative! My company stopped servicing their vans there too for similar reasons! They misdiagnosed my car problems, charging me for parts and labor that was not necessary only to have to bring me back in for another 500.00 of work!!!! Reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I went to Honest-1 because i got a mailer and their location was close to my home. I initally had an oil change done and the entire crew was great, extremely helpful, knowledgable, and never once condesending, which can be a big issue when I start ask specific questions, but these folks answered everyone and even helped me come up with a plan for my long list of car to-dos. I went back a few months later to get a tune-up before a long road trip, again the team was great and really took care of my car. They also went over the work that had been completed and what care was coming up in the future. Their pricing quotes are usually 100% on (unless something funky comes up) and they're very good about keeeping you in the loop if you drop your care off and leave. This is a good shop that does quality work, your vehicle and trust will be in good hands. read more

I keep coming back with more work. All of the work has been done well. No returns for any issues. I have to say I am happy with the customer service, I don't ever feel pressured for more work to be ordered, and the prices are competitive for an urban garage. I have now returned 4 times I think to have more work done on my old vehicle....no issues. I will continue to bring my vehicle in and feel comfortable with the recommendations. When my rear drive shaft failed, I even used a loaner for a week. I have zero reservations recommending this garage. read more

Stellar service!!! I've only been by a couple times, but both left a HUGE impression on me! 1st visit: I stopped by to request for them to add a little air to one of my tires (I usually fill it up at the SuperAmerica across the street, but theirs wasn't in service that day). They were SO polite and prompt about it! Even though I wasn't spending any money with them! 2nd visit: About a week later, the tire was low again. I happened to be near the place that originally put the tires on, so I went there to see if they could find what's wrong. They checked for leaks & said the air was leaking from my tire's valve stem & it would cost $250 to replace it (because they have pressure sensors it makes them more expensive). Even though it was a "tire place" I was skeptical. So I went back to see Brandon at Honest-1 to get a second opinion. He took a look & it turns out the stem was fine, it was just the needle inside the stem had become loose! I offered to pay him & once again they said it wasn't a problem! They saved me hundreds of dollars!! Even though these are just small situations, they stood out for me. Next time I need service I'll definately be back! read more

About a month ago I ran over a wood drill bit that was just laying in the middle of Hennepin Ave during rush hour. But I'm not bitter. I took my tire to Honest 1 to see if they could fix it. Unfortunately it was too close to the edge of the tire and they said, "some places would fix it but we won't because we can't guarantee it will hold up over time." That made an impression on me, that they wouldn't do shoddy work just to get a buck. Plus they made light of the situation, making jokes about it being a brand new car and that they've never seen that happen before which put me in a much better mood! It was just so ridiculous to have what looked like an arrow sticking out of my tire. So after getting a new tire a month ago, my tire pressure light was going off again. On the same tire. It was a slow leak so I figured I'd take it back to Honest 1 to see what was in my tire this time...a unicorn? Nope, just a screw. But they patched it up in 15 minutes and didn't charge me, which was awesome. Everyone there is really nice and friendly, they honestly want to help you out. And it's one of the nicest waiting areas of an auto shop I've ever been in, so that's a plus! read more

Andrew, the manager that helped me out encouraged me to visit the dealer ASAP because I needed a new transmission, and that if I did it quickly it would be covered in my warranty ( I was a few thousand miles away from my warranty expiring) Sure enough I needed a new transmission, and was able to avoid having to pay for it out of pocket. read more

This place is second choice for my auto care only next to my amazing father, the best mechanic I know. I have been here twice and had exquisite service both times. For instance, I was told my car would be done at 11am, I showed up, it wasn't done, a mere mistake in communication, but the employee was so saddened that he had relayed the wrong information that he gave me a free oil change for another time and a reduced price on my oil change that day. Had I lived far away maybe I would have been a little upset, but he definitely made up for it. This visit was on very crappy vehicle and they kindly told me that it was in really good shape for the age and type of car. They had very little suggestions and said that I wouldn't need to do anything. For my next oil change, an even older car, but told me it was in amazing shape! The waiting area is super clean, with coffee, tea, water, snacks, a TV, and many different types of magazines to browse. I find other auto care places to be extremely pushy, this place is an exception. The manager and mechanics are stellar here, super cheery and ready to please, making car talk very simple that even someone who knows nothing will come out with a complete understanding of their vehicle. They will email you when it is time for another oil change or any other service that is needed. Often in these emails there are coupons and tips to keeping your car in top-notch shape during the different seasons. Smiles all around. read more

If there was a "0" that's the rating I would give Honest 1. After being a customer for 6+ years, I took my car into the Uptown shop for new tires. When I picked it up, my back seat was filled with grease and the leather was destroyed. The greasy tire jack or another tool was placed on thee seat and the 60/40 split was closed down on top of it. The leather is so damaged I need a new seat - $900. I went in to talk with Mark, and he was so condescending to me as a woman. Nothing like getting a "sweet pat on the back" and hearing what a good customer I am, so he will clean the seat for me. He'll clean it, but he won't pay for the damage to the leather. I guess I'll be seeing them in court. Worse than that, they lost me as a customer. I've referred multiple people over the years, and now I will be sure to tell everyone NOT to take their car here! read more

True to their name. Went in for an oil change, which is very reasonable at a baseline price of $25, which includes a full inspection. They found that my serpentine belt was in really rough shape--even showed me the belt so I could see the damage for myself. The fee for labor and part was $130, which is on the low end of what I'd seen. They also found that my tires needed rotation, which would have been $20 (also a fair price, from what I've seen), but tire rotation is free as part of my purchase agreement from Costco, and I'm broke (sad face) so was wiling to do it. However, the owner overheard me talking to Costco (which is walk-in only, and would have been a really time-consuming errand) to make sure I was eligible for the free rotation, and he told me that he'd be happy to save me the trip and take care of the rotation for no additional charge. Additionally, what made this a really positive experience was how nice they were. Complimentary coffee and secure wi-fi in the waiting area, along with a TV playing the news quietly and unobtrusively, sealed the deal. Highly recommend!!! read more

My car had been acting funny for over a week, and I finally brought it in to Honest-1 to get it checked out. I can say that I will definitely go back for future car needs. The Good News: Extremely helpful, knowledgeable staff that are great at explaining things to those of us that are not mechanically inclined. They talked me through the repairs they made in a way that made me completely understand what they did and why, and not once did I feel like I was being talked down to because I'm a girl. I ended up having to replace my catalytic converter and thermometer - not cheap things to do. However, their price estimates were very fair, and I actually made out better than expected, since they replaced a few gaskets after they had already given me my final price quote and didn't want to overshoot that estimate. They had my car ready to go in less than a day. The Bad News: it still cost over $900 to get my car fixed. Ugh. Months ago, a neighbor posted a vague warning about Honest-1 Auto in Uptown. At the time, I commented on the post defending the auto-body shop and highlighting my experience as a young woman made to feel confident and secure in trusting the place to be (ironically) honest. Unfortunately, my experience with them has changed and I want to echo the warning that I'd previously countered. I asked the shop for an inspection and advice when buying a used car (that I found through this app!) in September. Marc LeForte, the manager, guided me through assuring me this was a car that would last me a really long time, referencing his daughters and that the advice he imparts on them in the car world would be the same type of knowledge he would share with me. I felt confident. After purchasing the car, I received a quote and service order and accepted all costs, which were around half the price of the car itself. Five months later, in early January, I took my car back in to change the oil and get it ready for winter. I'd been driving a LOT...after being let go early in the pandemic from my job, I've been using the app TaskRabbit to assemble IKEA furniture, run errands for immunocompromised people quarantining and every other imaginable useful job for people all over the Twin Cities to make income. I was absolutely prepared to spare no expense for my car, as it keeps me working and available. When I received a $2,200 quote including a new suspension kit, I was shocked at the cost. I called immediately, and spoke with Marc LeForte again and he assured me that to add to the longevity of my car, I really needed to make this investment. I agreed and received my car the next day. Less than three weeks later, at a red light in Bloomington, I noticed smoke from under my hood and could smell something burning. I pulled into a parking lot and called Honest-1. They recommended I get a tow into them, so I did. After a degrease and dye exam, they found some small leaks of oil and coolant, which had been burning on the exhaust causing the smell and smoke. I was told in about a year I'd want to consider replacing my head gasket. I received a voicemail I still have saved, saying "nothing urgent" needs attention "nothing immediate" needs to be done. The report I received didn't contain a quote for any materials or labor. It didn't contain a service order of suggested maintenance to mitigate any issues. It reinforced that the leaks in my engine were small, common and the smoking and odor would dissipate. I picked up my car and resumed driving as normal. The next day, the same issue continued. Then, my oil light flickered on. Then...my engine started making a knocking sound. Shaken, I brought my car to a different mechanic a friend recommended. This was six days after I'd left Honest-1 feeling confident. They found my engine was empty of oil, that oil was covering the bottom of my car from front to back, and that in the 300 miles I'd driven after being told no urgent problems needed remedy, nothing immediate needed to be done, I had incurred permanent engine damage. They recommended I go back to Honest-1 to understand more about the previous degrease and dye since the oil was so thoroughly covering everything underneath my car they couldn't even distinguish where the leak was coming from. Sitting in Honest-1's lobby, dreading the work I'd lose, the mounting debt from the $2200 is put on credit cards three weeks earlier, and facing a lot of confusion, I waited for Marc LeForte to end the phone conversation he was on. I realized he was speaking with another young woman, and heard him reassure her that the high cost she'd just spent on maintenance was necessary, and that the car she had would last her a very long time. He again referenced his daughters, and his intentions to empower them to speak up when they felt something wasn't right, as it related to the person on the phone feeling the maintenance they had just done may have been an unnecessary expense...but reassured it contributed to the longevity of their car and that it was a car they could have for a really long time. This was similar language he'd used with me when conversing about the struts I'd just replaced. When I stood up after he hung up, he was surprised.
