Twice I have been, and the latter worse than the former. First was just a pedicure, but the gal made some of my toe nails too short or buffed too thin, it was uncomfortable. The second was very recently, because of a gift certificate. I'll admit I have bad cuticles & don't get manicures much because of this. My manicurist cut my cuticles, and two of my fingers bled onto her towel for a while. I had an important charity event to attend the next day, but the poor painting of the polish (I removed it before the event) and the giant scabs I have now was not worth the experience. $35 for a spa manicure and pedicure? Yes, please and thank you. These ladies are precise, quick, and polite; fulfilling my top three requirements in a nail salon. I never felt like they were rushing to hurry up and move on to the next customer. Although they were busy, they did an excellent job on both my fingers and toes. A little detail that touched my soul: they use warmed up lotion for the massage portion of the mani/pedi. Not that room temperature crap, no sir. It's warrrrrmmm. I really didn't want to write this review because this used to be my basic neighborhood go to place for its convenient location. But my experience from yesterday is worth a review. I walked in at opening, first customer. I asked to take my gel off + regular manicure. The lady who helped me was SO AGGRESSIVE with my hands. First she used one of those power drills to sand down the existing gel. The heat of the drill kept burning my nail bed. I jerked back a few times and she just kept right on going with the next. The thing is, she kept doing this because she was so busy talking with the other ladies in the shop, not paying attention to my hands. There were no other customers for a good part of my visit there. When it came time to manually file using a regular file, she kept filing the skin under my cuticles! I let her know that my skin was now damaged, so that she would be more careful. But she kept going over the same painful spot with the file, aggressively at least 3 more times. I jerked back every time and she said sorry every time, but kept talking to the other ladies and clearly did not pay attention. The final draw was when she was rounding out the tips. She went at it so aggressively that that my nail bed separated from my skin. SO painful. I jerked back again and she said sorry again. By this time I was so stressed that I just asked her to finish the color part so I can go. Then after she applied the color, she used her own nails to wipe off the excess nail polish that got stuck between my nail and the nail bed, jamming her nail in to my wound she just created with the file. This time I gave her the 'are you kidding me' look. And she said "Your nail too dry. That's why" and blamed ME! Really. She never once stopped talking to the other ladies. She never paid enough attention to tend to all the different wounds she created. Kept filing over them, kept jamming her fingers in to them. No matter how many times I said "ow" or jerked back, she didn't change a thing. I won't be going back. Cuts on the hands are the worst, bandages don't stay on and every time I accidently brush the wounds and tears it's so painful. I had to go buy waterproof bandaids and liquid bandage. I'm all taped up and my hands look horrible. So not cool. I left bleeding from 3 spots and a super sore hand. Oh, and she kept trying to upsell me other services the whole time. Omg no. read more

I tried a pedicure at Honey Nail Spa for the first time last Friday because the consistently-good place down the street closed down. I disagree about Honey's cleanliness and friendlessness factors. The girl who did my toes hurt both big toes and I now have an infection on one of them. I've never had that happen before. Plus, the nails didn't look great. It was a simple pedicure, but she was chintzy on the polish layers - they're semi-transparent. She looked bored and in a hurry to get back to watching TV in the back. Make sure you get the price in writing before you get your mani pedi. I went in after work on a weekday at about 6 pm the week before last and asked for a mani pedi with no polish on my fingernails and gel on my toenails. I was told it would be $35. Once she started the pedicure the girl told me it would be $5 more to take off my polish since it was a gel. At that point I was like okay, I pay $37 in Temple City and this place is closer to where I live so I don't mind a few extra dollars. When the pedi was over she gives me the bill and I asked what about the manicure? She said that I never asked for a manicure and it would be $20 more for a simple manicure with no polish. That's $65 for gel pedicure manicure with no polish!! I've never even paid that much in the heart of old town Pasadena! She then proceeded to argue with me and tell me that I never asked for a manicure. I said I would never have agreed to pay $40 for a pedicure with gel polish only since I pay $37 in Temple City for the gel pedicure and plain manicure. She then proceeds to tell me that I'm not telling the truth about what I pay in Temple City! Unbelievable!! That's exactly what I pay at Candy Nails in Temple City. I'm a very even tempered person but I was so mad. I left without my manicure and I paid the $40. I left $0 tip which I've never done in my life, but I was treated so rudely and basically accused of lying so I felt is it was well deserved. Buyer beware!! read more

Went there and they complained that they need the tip in cash ONLY because management will not give them or management will short change them the tip if you pay with a credit card. I always manage to get different lady and forget her name on every single visit. So, this review is for the salon as a whole. Everybody does great pedicure (I hardly go for manicure). Last time I got matching paper slippers to walk on to my car in the parking lot behind the salon *happy* My favorite on the menu is Deluxe Spa Pedicure for $35. Been going here since it's opening and have always received the best care. It's funny but I've made friends with a few of the other regulars.... which on it's own speaks volume. I get my gel, waxing & pedicure done by Linda, she's my go to girl. Feisty little lady, but funny as heck, kinda reminds me of my own mom. I guess my only advice is, if you find a tech that you like, make an appointment. Oh and BE NICE, if you do walk in and find that they are busy, keep calm, it's not the end of the world. Not a relaxing experience at all. My pedicurist was much more engaged in talking to the other ladies who worked in the nail salon than completing my service, making the appointment take much longer than expected. I asked how long the appointment would take because I needed to pick up my son from school. I was quoted an hour, but at an hour into the appointment my nails were still not painted. The loud conversations certainly didn't help me relax after a day at work. I left feeling unhappy and anxious about picking my son up late. Little strange since it is not cool for an owner to get tips since they get a major cut from the charges for the services. This place is ok if you have no other choice. They do have a good selection of brand name nail polishes but they do charge more than other nail places without performing any other services (I guess the rent in that prime Pasadena location is high). For example, a polish change on your toes is $8 vs $5 somewhere else and the entire "treatment" takes place 5-8 minutes. 1st time coming here because it's so close to work. The spa chairs were comfy and I liked that they put this clear bag thing were the water goes. This would've been 5 stars but I didn't like that the lady was cutting the sides of my toe nails instead of getting the cuticles. Honestly it breaks my heart to write this but after the last time I was in I feel the need to save people from this. I went in the day before a wedding hoping to get a really classy navy blue polish. The woman doing my nails seemed as if she was trying to rush me out. I told her that she wasn't getting the entire nail when she was painting because there was a huge gap in all the corners of my nails and as she's painting she's digging her nails into my hand. She then insists that I put glitter on my nails so I say why not. When she does her glitter was old and thick and created bumps and air pockets which created craters in my nails. I immediately expressed my concern so she just kept adding top coats that weren't fixing the problem. I was not satisfied so I paid, walked out and came back letting her know that I was not happy. She called the other ladies over and they all started yelling to each other while grabbing at my hands. She said she didn't know what I wanted her to do and I asked her for a refund. She said she would refund my money but I would have to sit through her taking off all the polish she just did! I couldn't believe it. Not only would that waste my time but it would further damage my nails. I left unhappy with a horrible manicure. Flash to the next morning I woke up with my thumb and pinky SWOLLEN. I had contracted an infection that I had to go to urgent care the morning before the wedding. My thumb was red, hot and pulsing with pain. My friend and I walked in her on a Saturday and the nail technician asked me how far I was. I thought she meant my house from the nail salon, but nope. She wanted to know how far along in my pregnancy I was. I'm not pregnant, nor am I fat. It was hard to enjoy my pedicure after that because I was worrying about how fat I looked. I wish I can give a place zero stars. Please do not get your nails done here unless you like getting your cuticles cut too short to the point of drawing blood. I got a mani/pedi yesterday and I must say that it was probably one of the most traumatic beauty experiences I've ever had (including waxing, plastic surgery, etc). My pedicurist was very rough with the cuticle cutter. In fact, she cut my cuticle and I was bleeding for about 15 minutes. She proceeded to explain that I had a hang nail therefore she HAD to cut my cuticle that short. Hmmmm. Really?!?! So I asked her to please be more careful and not cut them too short. Of course she doesn't listen and manages to draw blood on the other foot. When I told her, "I'm bleeding" she proceeds to get very defensive and starts arguing with me in a very aggressive and rude way. The best part was when she clipped the corner of my toe nail, and pulled that little piece towards my cuticle, taking off about 1/8" of the side of my nail. That is their way of dealing with "ingrown toenails". And Linda the owner along with the pedicurist started to YELL at me and argue with me about how this is the proper way to deal with ingrown toenails. First of all, I didn't say I had an ingrown nail. I said I was prone to them so please take off the corner. Not rip a huge piece off the side of my nail. All in all, I paid and left, bleeding and literally limping. Please do not go to this place. I was fooled into thinking that this was a quality nail salon due to the nice chairs and the decor. I cannot believe how rudely I was treated once I brought up an issue. I liked this place when they first opened a few years ago, but it is so unprofessional and very ghetto now. I hardly ever see the owner around anymore. There is usually this snotty twentysomething girl who runs the show these days. She's always busy playing video games on her phone and if not that, then gossiping in Vietnamese or Chinese to the nail techs about the customers who are sitting right there! One of the worst nail spa's I've been to in a while. Not only do they over crowd the chairs and make you sit there with your feet in the water for half an hour before they even attempt to start the process, they are rushed, rough, and give half attempted services unless you pay for the most expensive packages. I sat in a chair in a corner where they were constantly getting towels out of a cabinet and moving my person so every other minute was her moving out of someones way to come back and do it again. I was never asked what I wanted, they just assumed a basic quick pedicure. No callus remover, nothing. I signed in for a mani-pedi and said it about 4 times. After getting a very rough and uncomfortable pedicure she told to me pay before she painted my nails. I then said I asked for a manicure too and they acted as if I said their services were horrible. I then had another lady jump on my hands and it was rough, short and again uncomfortable with her moving back and forth. They wouldn't even turn the massager on that is in the chair because I didn't pay for the expensive package. After cutting open my finger and laughing about it, she asked me to pay before she started to paint them. All this sitting and waiting and the constant moving bak and forth cost me 40 bucks. I left a tip worth the services and they started to walk away from finishing my nails. I then said I wanted french tip and she made me move and sit in another chair at a table. The paint chipped the next day, the lines were crooked, it was horrible. On top of it all, I got up to go to the drying station and she left my purse on the floor about 6 tables away, and I asked for a receipt and was never given anything but a nice shove out the door. I get all of my waxing done here. Linda is absolutely amazing. She is meticulous and professional. I never leave less than satisfied. Manis and Pedis are better here than other nail spas in the area, too. they're affordable, detailed, and won't waste your time (perfect for me since I seem to never have enough time in the day). They take walk-ins too, which is the cherry on top of my sundae. I've been a loyal customer since the store's grand opening. I've found that if you are even the least bit dissatisfied with a service, just tell the ladies. They're more than accommodating and happy to please you, too. read more

Came here on a Thursday afternoon. It was empty so I expected a longer massage or more atention but it seemed like a quicky. They massage your leg with a scrub so it wasn't a nice lotion massage. And it was half ass on top of that. There are not too many colors to choose from as far as polish and the bottles look like they are almost empty, hence the semi gloppy polish job where you can see the brush strokes. WOW... took my 7 year old for a Mom/ Daughters Day out... Started off by sitting me in a spa chair that was uncomfortable and didn't work, when I asked about the chair operation, half way through my treatment, the owner told me it was broken and walked away! Over charged me for my 7 year old's nails. Didn't catch that until I brought it to their attention. Caught her pouring acetone into the polish color and NOW understand why my nails look so lumpy and crappy. Hotter that 88°'s in there and when I asked if they had AC she said "yes, but the owner won't turn it on". Overall the $60 experience for my NORMAL, nothing special mani/pedi and my "child's special mani/pedi" BEYOND disappointing! Owner on several occasions, within 15 minutes of our service was on her ladies to pick up the pace and hurry up and finish us to move on to the waiting customers! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!! Still in shock this place is even in business! Save you money, better off doing it yourself at home!
