Hmm, not sure why my experience was so different from the stellar reviews. Came in for takeout and got the fish with eggplant rice noodles. It was a quick stir-fry dish, but it took over 20min to be ready. The eggplant was the only good thing...flavorful & soft. The rice noodles were clumped and bland and greasy, the fish was so oversalted I wondered how old it was that they had to completely mask its flavors. I almost never leave food unfinished, but I got so sick halfway through this I chucked the rest into the trashcan. I'll stick with my regulars in Argyle. read more

I tried this place for the first time today (Beef & Snow peas for carry-out, which was $10.95). The actual restaurant is nothing fancy, but definitely kept nice and clean. When I went to pick up my food, I noticed that they had smoothies on the menu, so I ordered one (coconut/pineapple for $4). When they gave me the package of food, I was surprised at how heavy it was! They DO give you a lot of food, which is awesome because now I have lunch AND dinner. The food was nice and warm & tasted good (I would say above average). The smoothie was good too (about average). I'm kicking myself now for not trying the avocado smoothie instead (especially now that I've learned it has tapioca in it!), but there WILL be a next time! If you're looking for spectacular service, this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for great food and a good price, you've come to the right spot. My boyfriend and I come here once every couple of months. There's not much to look at inside, and comfort isn't really their specialty, but their food is something special. Meals are done family style with all 6 of their dining tables having a lazy Susan. Each plate is around $8-$9, but truly, you can share a dish between two people for less than $10! My favorite is the salt and pepper chicken. It's like crack. Can't get enough of it! Don't come here if you're in a rush. It usually takes us 20 minutes to get our check after we stacked our plates to make it obvious that we're ready to go. I recommend this place to everyone who's looking for good food at a great price that aren't in a rush. read more

Their food is very good, the price is just right Their attitude sucks and I think prejudice, we got seated after 3 other customers that came in after us, I asked one of them if they were waiting to be seated or if they stepped out to buy some groceries, they said they just came In, I thought that was kinda rude of the staffs to do to a customers, especially to a regular, overall great delicious food, but they got to work on their attitude of they don't want to lose any more customers. Oh I forgot one other thing, we had a party of 30 which we basically rented the whole place out, they asked for a security deposit that was promised to be returned, we never got that back!! It was my girlfriend's cousin who turned us onto Honeymoon. She said, "It's the only place on Argyle that served food like in Chinatown." She was right, and you should definitely come here if you're craving Chinese food on the Northside. They have a huge "lunch specials" menu all day (in the evening it's for carry-out only). I mean, Sun Wah is great for BBQ, but Honeymoon has all the other dishes you want to accompany that meal -- honey walnut shrimp, salt & pepper shrimp, clams in black bean sauce, fish filet with eggplant -- you name it. I will suggest carry-out since the ambiance is lacking, but as far as the food goes, I sometimes crave a good Honeymoon meal. read more

I love this place. The food is good, and the service is decent enough. Japanese-style salt&pepper tofu is a MUST. (Not with enoki! That makes it soggy.) Their soups aren't half bad, and their frog legs are super yummy! I come here every week or so just for that tofu read more

This is my family's go to in Argyle, because of its cheap prices and delicious Cantonese food. What we normally order: -Fried chicken wings and crab rangoon to start. These are seriously huge. Wings are on steroids usually, and the crab rangoon are pretty normal with a good amount of cream cheese. -Crab meat and fish maw soup: this can be a hit or miss. It's usually a tasty light soup but sometimes, it can be bland. We try to fix that with the soy sauce and black pepper on the table. -House special ribs: cooked in aluminum foil. They come out super hot, so be sure to wait a bit before opening up that bad boy. Once you do, let the juice run onto your rice. Dope. -Baby pea tips in garlic sauce: a nice vegetable side dish that can sometimes be a little too oily. It's usually pretty good though. If you want to order out, take advantage of the lunch specials that last until 5 PM (I think this is still in effect?). Seafood combination over pan fried egg noodles, any of the salt and pepper stuff over rice, fried rice, beef and eggplant over rice, etc. Less than $7 for two meals worth. read more

I came in this evening to order 1 order of beef and peapods. This is a pretty common dish amongst many Asian restaurants.. I also ordered one order of crab rangoons. I get home and as I start to serve myself a plate I notice I have all pea pod leafs and no meat. I legit had 8 pieces of meat in the container & I spent about $20 at this place. I call to explain the situation and the the person over the phone says she charged me for a entire pound of pea pods leafs. I'm like ??? That's not what I ordered. Then she goes on to explain that's why I got more pea pod leafs and if I had ordered another dish like beef with broccoli I would have gotten more meat. Makes absolutely NO SENSE. If I'm paying EXTRA for pea pods, shouldn't I get the same amount of meat that any other beef dish provides??? So stupid.. Poor customer service & shiesty with the food. read more

This place was a delightful discovery. The salt n pepper fish is to die for. We've ordered to go and dined in. Felt that the food was tastier for dine in compared to take out however neither was disappointing. Wish they cooked their chicken wings with the salt n pepper seasoning. Thus far, I've only ordered takeout, but the people who take my orders are always pleasant and friendly, the FOOD IS GOOD, and the PRICES ARE RIGHT! I'm Chinese, and having tried Sun Wah for the first time yesterday (ordered the bbq on rice and fish w/ Chinese broccoli on rice for to go) and just comparing the 2 places: 1. Honeymoon's gives you more of the meat/fish/veggies to rice ratio 2. The prices are BETTER. 3. The flavors are BETTER This is just based on the 2 things I ordered from SW vs the same 2 I've ordered from Honeymoon, but I think EVERYONE should know and try this place out. At least in regards to the "on rice" plates, the round goes to Honeymoon Cafe! :) And the other food I've tried from them has always been pretty good too. :) It's unpretentiously delicious. read more

My friend and I walked in for brunch one saturday. We ordered 2 dishes and 1 appetizer. After we finished our first dish we were wondering when our 2nd dish will arrive. We looked around to see that 2 customers at different tables had already been served several dishes. To make matters worst one of them had the dish we ordered! It was very disappointing. My go to place in Argyle for Chinese food. It doesn't look like much and the price is a bit high compared to Chinatown but its still very affordable for the amount of food you get. I usually do the lunch rice boxes and my favorite is the diced beef with peppers and onions. Its different from the usual way you get beef in rice boxes which is a nice change. Good food, very good prices. I like the seafood dishes and just finished the fish fillet with bitter melon and black bean sauce. The bitter melon was properly prepared so that much of the bitterness had been removed. It was a bit too sweet however. The woman who runs it often seems a bit gruff and impatient, which I don't like. Maybe she's had bad experiences with non-Asian (or non-Vietnamese customers). She didn't like it when I asked her to recommend having the main dish with rice or noodles. But if you go a couple of times and she recognizes you, she warms up. Still, I wish she'd find a way to be more welcoming to people who eat the food and pay the bills. It's a good place for take out since service is very quick. read more

I have been going here for over 5 years. Very authentic chinese food. I have to admit, the food is not exactly the healthiest, but it's so tasty :) However, there is a drawback to this wonderful establishment. There is practically no service available after they take your order and after you get your food. If you need water, napkins, or etc, you just have to get ahold of the manager or their children who work there and they'll get the stuff for you. Also, the prices are EXTREMELY reasonable. Soups are 6.95 for a small bowl which can serve 2-3 people. and typical entrees run about 7.95-9.95. Of course, seafood dishes cost more than that. Always bring cash unless you plan to spend a good amount of money because they have a high credit card minimum of $25. Overall, no one will be dissappointed with this extremely authentic chinese establishment, but not recommended for the health conscious freaks and people "allergic" to MSG. read more

You should head over to Honeymoon Café. I went to Honeymoon café for my brother's birthday and we made reservation for a party of five. When we got there it was a full house so I recommend having a reservation for the certain amount of people you have. The atmosphere at Honeymoon café is very plain and dull but if you're going there with people you haven't spoken to in a while it's a wonderful place to just chat and eat because the restaurant is a shared dish restaurant. The dishes there a very affordable price. All dishes are under 9.95$ unless it's a dish that is listed at market price then maybe it will be a bit more but almost all their dishes are great. We ordered the fried tofu stuffed with shrimp. It was tofu shaped in a cube with cut up shrimped inside served on a hot pot that came with a homemade sweet broth. The broth was made with mushroom, peas, and other vegetables. If you're a person that has never tried tofu before but would like to try it and you love seafood this is the food for you. The texture of the fried tofu stuffed with shrimp depends on how much you dip it in the broth but usually it's a bit crunchy. We also ordered the crispy intensities. Sounds weird, maybe but it's a crunchy, salty, delight. It is served with hot peppers. The crispy intensities has a small kick to it but it's not that spicy unless you eat the hot peppers that come with it. The texture of crispy intensities might leave you with a weird impression but once you taste the salty flavor of it you'll want to continue to keep eating them. If you're a person that doesn't like salty food I recommend the beef and broccoli. The beef and broccoli comes with soft tender beef covered in a gravy like sauce served with broccoli and other vegetables. My personal favorite is the salt and pepper Japanese tofu. It's a golden yellow cylinder that is fried and topped with salt and peppers and served along side with hot peppers. All of these wonderful food is served with white rice and the rice is refillable till you all are full! My experiences coming to this restaurant has been great. I ate until I felt like I needed to be carried out of the place and taken home because I would be lazy to just move from my seat. The service at the restaurant is decent. On busy days it will be hard for the waiter to get around and get everybody's order along with refill of bowls of rice. I recommend that you reserve a table when you go there and don't go with just one or two people. Bring a party of maybe 5 and more and just order anything that you all seem good and give it a try if you all want to try something new. I've been to this restaurant multiple times and every single time that my family and I have been there the people treat us with respect and sometimes the chef comes out and greets us.
