Chill breakfast vibes & a dog friendly patio!…read more OCEAN CITY, MD: Malia's Cafe was the perfect final stop on our OCMD trip, a cozy breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot with dog friendly outdoor seating and all the classic comfort‑food vibes. Fresh dishes, breezy air drifting up from the beach, and a comfy awning that keeps you shaded make it such an easy, relaxing place to start your day. Simple, delicious, and super welcoming, exactly what you want before heading home.

We saw some good ratings and gave this place a shot and we weren't disappointed. We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming staff who helped us make the right selection. As my wife was fasting, she went with a small fruit bowl, my son chose shortstack pancakes, and I tried the veggie hash. The fruit bowl was decorated well and had plenty of variety. From blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, watermelons, apples, bananas, and others, all the fruits were fresh and perfectly ripe. The pancakes were very large and just one would have been more than enough for two people it seems but they even added berries for my son on them. The veggie hash had lots of potential. It was cooked well, however, lacked seasoning. It seemed slightly bland and I had to utilize ketchup to give it some identity. However, the quality and variety of veggies inside was great. Overall, I am giving four stars due to the fact that the prices are high, but the service and quality are worth it; especially for such a close location to the boardwalk.

WOW! Talk about a diamond in the rough…read more I've passed by this place plenty of times and had written it off as just another dive spot that struggles to stay alive. After ready the reviews I decided to give it a try. I was so pleasantly surprised. The food was great. The staff were very friendly and polite. I'm on the fence about the ambiance. The decor was late 80s dinner with allot of Greatful Dead memorabilia. However, while it definitely shows its age and could use some updating, it seems to present a charm that would be lost with new decor. The shades, window treatments and flooring are dated, but not dingy and dirty. The tables and chairs are lacquered hardwood and scared from years of service, but each scar bears witness to the number of customers who have eaten here. We came in for breakfast, in the off season and nearly every table was filled, but we were still immediately seated. Our waiter JR was prompt, professional and very friendly. He checked on us no less than 4 times, after we got our food. I figured breakfast is a little too easy to test a restaurant on. Anyone can scramble and egg, or make pancakes. I decided to test them against my own Ruben recipe (which I maintain is the best there ever will be). To my surprise, though it wasn't quite as good as my own, it's the closest I have had from any restaurant. Kudos to the chef on that. My wife finished her breakfast plate (which she never does) and my son left with stomach pain from eating too much. I reserve 5 star ratings for places that truly knock my socks off, and show me something completely unexpected. I was torn on this one. On one hand, I was completely taken by surprise on how wrongly prejudiced I was of this place for so long. But, while the food quality was good, it didn't knock my socks off. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars. Hands down, the best breakfast spot in Ocean City that I've been to thus far!

Only had small tables so our group of 8 needed to spilt into two tables. I had the breakfast sandwich with the biscuit. The biscuit was one of the best I've ever had!! When I went to pay, he was slouched down in his chair, still on his phone. They told us they could seat our party of 8, then split us across two separate tables. When our server, Hattie, asked if we were "together" with the other table, we said no -- by that point we were sitting completely separately with no way to even coordinate with each other. Despite that, she charged us the large party 20% automatic gratuity. Food came out at completely different times for each table (our table finished eating while the other was still waiting on their order), and drinks were brought separately too. When we brought up the large party gratuity given how mismatched the service was, Hattie brushed off everything we said and didn't address any of it. On top of all that, I found white hair in my food... to their credit, they did take it back and replace it without argument. They also only had paper cups, and the water tasted like it came straight from a hose, while the apple juice was watered down. I asked for a water refill twice and never got one. And to top it off, the food had no seasoning at all. Save yourself the trouble, go somewhere else.
