I was so excited to come here for all you can eat crab legs..... the restaurant was dirty, and not well kept. The food was ok. The crab legs were ok as well except they had a weird smell to them. When I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and the weird smell off, it was gross and dirty. Tasty Chinese food in Cedar City????? You betcha! So I am not a buffet type of person, but I ended up here with a big group because I was out voted. Story of my life....Back to the point though. We stopped at the Hong Kong Buffet in Cedar City for lunch when we were on our way to Dixie National Forest for a camping trip this past weekend. We were all pretty hungry since we had been on the road for about 3 hours. We pulled in and were greeted by delicious smells. Yummy! We get in and start looking around and I see all sorts of beautiful food. They had all of the usual Chinese food offerings, but everything looked better and smelled tastier than what I usually find at these places. My personal favorites were the chicken pan fried dumplings, black pepper chicken, hot and sour soup, and the crab rangoons. I ended up eating at least 10 dumplings and just as many crab rangoons. I'm a piggy, I know! The crab rangoons here were the best rangoons I have ever eaten in my whole life, including the ones I had in Beijing, China! I'm not joking at all. BEST EVER! If I could have eaten 10 more, I would have. They also had a sushi bar. I don't do sushi, but my hubby loved it and had a huge plate of sushi. In fact everyone in the group had a huge plate of sushi. I am just the odd man out, again. The sushi was being made right out front, so it was really pretty fresh. It was also very pretty, for what it matters. The service is what you would expect at any buffet. The price was quite reasonable for the quality as well being about $7 per person. So overall, it was ok. Place was actually fairly decent. Clean, food was hot, didn't seem like it was sitting out all day. Decent selection. It's more like a 3.5 star so i rounded up. Their Chinese spare ribs was juicy and tasty, wasn't too salty. Their salt and pepper calamari was surprisingly very good! So was their Napa cabbage. Their daikon soup was very good. Sushi selection wasn't huge but what was available was pleasantly decent. My sister and I went here on a recommendation. Coming from a city with real Chinese food Utah is killing me. St. George is devoid of anything tasty (beyond Benja's which is technically Thai not Chinese) and everything else in Cedar City is meh. We went here about 4 times for the buffet and we both found it quite tasty. Then last time we went it was...UGH. I think it was a Sunday so maybe they figured all the Mormons wouldn't show and why bother...yet they're open. We had 6 people in our group who had all eaten there before and enjoyed it and none of them have been back since. I'm willing to give it another go; but let it be known they have off days. Some notes: they have hard ice cream (certainly draining some of Bulloch's business across the street) and quite a good selection. Service is okay but you can end up waiting and some of the servers appear not to speak good English. Some of the booths were really broken too...we got seated at one twice that basically had you falling in because it was broken. I'm not going to put this on my ''Benja's I'll sell my blood to eat here' list...but its tolerable. They could really spruce it up if they wanted to, so far they appear to not want to. read more

Dear Hong Kong Buffet, Oh gloriousness that is an all you can eat Chinese buffet in Southern Utah. An unexpected oasis in a land of meat and potatoes and salads made primarily of cold cuts, you were a saving grace. I was pleasantly surprised, no, shocked by how delicious things were. Your fried items were delicate and delightful (Super yummy french fries, what?!!), your black bean green beans were a vegetarian's heaven and your hot and sour soup was hot AND sour! Your sushi was edible. Which, to me, is pretty darn good for a buffet that costs all of $7 for adults and a gradient of $3-$4.50 for kids at lunch time. Unlimited ginger? Yes, please! My children were all about your desserts. Four different ice creams with cones, cakes, jello, fresh fruit, cookies, three types of pudding? A veritable sugar wonderland. Our experience was so stellar that we enjoyed you two days in a row and still speak fondly of your food. Hong Kong Buffet was mediocre ten years ago, but has steadily improved. In the past year or two in particular, they have improved the most. We often get buffet take out on Sundays, as so few places in Cedar are open Sundays. The quality is so much higher now than Panda Express, that I encourage anyone contemplating the two to go to Hong Kong Buffet. You'll find much better food and far better selection. The reason I don't give a five-star review is because I'm used to the best Chinese food in the world. If you want Chinese food in Cedar, your choices are Panda (MSG & sugar) Express or Hong Kong Buffet. This place was disgusting, I was legitimately concerned I would get food poisoning. I usually enjoy buffets but this was horrible, food is cold and disgusting. I went once and thought maybe it was a fluke, many businesses have one struggle day so I gave them a second chance. The second time was just as bad, the food was cold and the hot food was nasty. My in laws like buffets. Something about infinite decisions and seconds and thirds is appealing. I get overwhelmed. This buffet is pretty good. The hot and sour soup was my starter and it was well seasoned with good chunks of tofu. I wish there were more dim sum like options, most of their food is tailored for the American palette. Nothing wrong with that, just means I have to stick with basics (soup/teriyaki chicken/green beans) to avoid disappointment. Found this buffet to have a great variety of bad tasting food. While also being a bit too expensive for the quality that is offered. The sushi bar has a spread of decent rolls, but mostly packed with too much cream cheese and mushy rice. Found that the fried shrimp, chicken (orange), and beef were mostly batter, little meat. The addition of things such as ribs, potstickers, and ice cream are nice, their quality doesn't meet their appearance. Also, most of the other foods offered either aren't thoroughly cooked, or have been sitting under the heat lamps too long. If this wasn't enough to help me avoid the restaurant, both times in the last year that my wife and I have eaten here we have gone home sick, and felt worse the next day(s). The servers did a good job of clearing the tables quickly. That was about it. I would pay less, or even the same, and get Panda Express on the other side of town instead. Hong Kong Buffet is a great amount of food for a great price. There is always a wide variety of soups, traditional Chinese restaurant entrees, seafood and sushi. I have yet to try anything there I didn't like. The servers are always very polite and attentive. The best part is definitely the sushi though as it is made quite literally in front of you. I've been looking for a good buffet and this one will do until I find another option. The buffet was not very busy, therefore, some of my selections were not the warmest. With that being said, I did have a few selections that were warm and tasted good. My arrival was late afternoon and I snuck in just as the lunch menu was ending and before the dinner began. Staff was very friendly and service was good. We parked on the main street but parking was available in their private lot and behind the establishment. The interior was dated and mostly clean. I thought I would support a Chinese business so I went to Hong Kong Buffet on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in the evening. Bad mistake! I got the salmon with tuna sushi, (some were the last on the plate and some were fresh from the chef). I also got cabbage, clams and sesame balls and hot tea. I didn't like any of the food and left. I woke up the next morning, Monday with DIARRHEA. I took Imodium. I spent the entire day at Zion National Park throwing up with body aches and chills. Tuesday, I took another 2 gelcaps and I continued vomiting all day long. Finally on Wed. morning, I was able to keep some liquids down. Thank you Poland Spring. While you are here in Cedar City, do not stay at the Quality Inn either. They have bedbugs, room 225 and 251 or 252. Cedar City sucks. read more

The food was good...until we found a hair and fuzz in a crab ragoon. My husband called the wait staff over and showed her what was inside. She explained if it was on the inside it was from cooking but if it was outside it was probably from people's clothes. She pulled the hair and said "see it is long and grey." Great variety of Asian choices. My husband went for the Chinese while I wanted sushi. We were both very satisfied. The miso soup was "thin" (or missing something) but it was ok. The low score really is about the cleanliness. I guess the most important thing was that every plate, bowl, and our utensils were very clean. The tables, chairz, and carpet ware in shape. Finding a good place away from home sometimes is hard. My guy likes spicy so a place that makes their own chili oil is a plus. They do! He was satisfied with the "hot" . The buffet is full and varied. Some breakfast choices ( American as well as Chinese) lots of traditional dishes and a great looking sushi bar manned by a great guy. Im visiting Cedar City with my family for the holidays, we called the buffet before getting there to see if they have bread , sOmeone answered the phone said yes they do , so we decided to go there , we got there we set the kids down and decided to go get our food, we saw that there was no bread , we asked the waitress if they have bread and they said no ,i told them i called and someone said they do have bread , and everything started from there they said nobody called i said i did they said no you didnt , i showed them the call i made they said its not our number they brought their phone went to recent calls i showed them my number they still didnt want to accept the fact that it was my number , they said you dont like it leave, we said no one said we dnt like it they started raising their voice cussing while talking just because i said i did call that is my number in your phone he was very disappointed when they realized i called and they were not speaking well in English so thwy replied back to me wrong. I did not even try their food it was horrible customer service that we walked out. The guy was taller then all the other workers and horrible English accent. I've been to a many Chinese buffets in my lifetime and this was was very typical, if you're familiar- broccoli w/beef, orange chicken, chow mein, sushi, won tons, etc... Traveling through Cedar City i thought i would go for a Chinese buffet at 8:15pm on a Sunday with my son. I wouldn't expect the place to be better than what i could easily find in Hong Kong, Shanghai, LA, or San Francisco areas. However, i was surprised that this place is unquestionably the worst Chinese buffet i have ever tried in my life The food was of the lowest quality. The cooking was bad. Dishes all rely on heavy artificial seasoning and salt. The service was bad. Hygiene is bad. The place was to close in 45 minutes but four kitchen employees were sitting around the restaurant playing with their phones. The host was not at the front counter and as we poked around to find him he did not seem to be very welcoming. The cleanliness of the sushi rows was suspect so i took three pieces and ate only two because there was a detergent taste. Trust me: you can get much better quality from Panda Express, which is rather average for Chinese food. I recommend that you look for other places to dine. read more

Your orange chicken was in some kind of a watery unidentifiable stuff - tasted terrible. The honey chicken wasn't even OK. Did someone forget that the chicken should be tender (for all your dishes). Actually a lot of the meats were like eating jerky. The noodles were filled with hard/dry noodles that I think were old, nasty. We even laughed because we could snap them in half. The sour soup was like none I've ever seen or tasted - one taste and that was it. The clams were a joke - I never saw such small ones before. I could go on & on but I'm sure you get the point. I went here because the pictures showed what looked to be good crab legs and muscles etc. the only crab they had was imitation crab loaded with cheese and fat. Their shrimp bowl only had a couple pieces in it and they didn't refill it. Their sushi was not fresh sushi Salmon, it was fishy and not good. I was very disappointed because their clams looked dried out and stale. The whole buffet was loaded in sugar sauces. The only edible thing was their chicken which was loaded in fat scraps, they also had withered green beans that I ate. I was very disappointed with the quality of food and the choices were not good. Let's break it down: Food: Hot, the trays are quickly replenished, the fresh fruit is tasty. They have fries. The sushi is actually quite good and a real value. Excellent variety. Service: This is why we have 4 stars. Sometimes the service is really poor. Drinks stay empty for days, plates can pile up. Often though it is quite good. Restaurant: clean, there was a remodel of some sort within the last few years. The restrooms are clean. Value: Fair price. Was there on a Thursday night in March 2015. $11 each for all you can eat. Very typical North American style Chinese food. It was very tasty and there was a great wide selection. One unexpected touch was they also had a sushi station with fresh made offerings, They were VERY good as was the hot and sour soup, Those two were the class of the show but as I said the rest tasted just fine too. You never know what you'll find when you stop in a small town Chinese buffet when traveling through after 9 pm at night. Surprisingly, the food was good, fresh, fully stocked, hot, and still coming out of the kitchen even late at night. I noticed even dishes that still had plenty of food left on them being replaced just because they had been out too long- no over dry or cold foods here and encouraging for food safety! Good mix of Americanized Chinese foods and Cantonese foods- while most other buffets have a disappointing dish or two, everything here tasted amazing.
