My second review of this place- why? Be at it's still that good a year and half later!!! Went with my daughter as they were promoting last of their Pumpkin martinis -though we were disappointed that they had run out of pumpkin- the rest of meal did not disappoint! For starters - some very cold Oyster Bag - Sauvignon blanc- NZ is def my go to for this wine. We ordered the lobster nachos and oh my thighs!! This dish made me truly understand all the cooking shows when they talk about flavor layers and added crunch- do not go here if you are worried about calories/ you will not enjoy yourself- we foodies love great food at any cost - these are must for any lobster lover! My daughter and I ordered off the specials menu- she had the scallops and sausage pasta! They n me and their own - so good! This was combined with asparagus, cherry peppers, roasted tomatoes and Alfredo sauce pasta- she loved it- and had plenty for leftovers the next day. I ordered the Pan seared scallops with duck confit and spinach risotto along with a limoncello beurre blanc- anything with risotto I'm in- but added with super sweet scallops and a light sauce- I'm in heaven! Leftovers also did not disappoint! We wanted to order dessert because well tiramisu-!! They make one of the best i've ever tried! We opted for espresso martinis and what a perfect ending to a wonderful night. Shout out to our waiter Kyle, who was on point all night and even entertained me while I rambled on about life. The first time I went to hoof's was for my boyfriends birthday and the service/food was great. So great we decided to get a gift card there for my parents for Christmas. We had gone out to a casual dinner elsewhere (pooch's down the street) and decided to stop in after the game to grab the gift card. I was wearing a beanie and my boyfriend was wearing a hat-which we understand is not appropriate attire for hoofs. We just wanted a gift card. The bartender refused to give us the time of day after the hostess had told us we were all set to go ask him for the gift card. He said to the young boy "get them out of here they can't be dressed like that" the hostess then came back over and had to explain to him we just needed a gift card cause he wouldn't even look at us. Still got the gift card cause I didn't want that one bartenders attitude to ruin the entire restaurant for us. Then my parents went to dinner at hoofs last night with the gift card. They cut my dad's scallops in half my moms salmon was overcooked. $40 for scallops cut in half is crazy. place is overrated but maybe if you catch them on a good night you will luck out. read more

Hoofs is amazing!! I've lived in the area for a bit but had yet to check this restaurant out until last night. The restaurant itself is inviting with friendly staff and a friendly owner (or manager?) that greets you when you walk in and checks on you during your meal. We started off our meal with the meatball appetizer with marinara sauce and ricotta and it was so good. The meatballs were tender and tasted insanely good when paired with the ricotta. I ordered veal parmigiana as my main course and my partner got the surf and turf pasta special. Both entrees were delicious but the surf and turf special really stood out (the flavors were out of this world amazing and the scallops tasted so fresh and were not over cooked). For dessert we shared a chocolate covered raspberry martini and also shared a lemon mascarpone cake. Both were great but we were blown away by the cake. The lemon flavor was off the charts and the cake was light and fluffy while the mascarpone was rich and creamy. It was a delicious and refreshing end to a really great dinner experience. I look forward to coming back and trying more dishes, drinks, and desserts. I now understand why this restaurant is always packed! read more

Really great Italian food in Stonington right across the bridge from Westerly. I had the veal parmesan and it was awesome. They are going to expand soon and open up an outdoor area. Fantastic! My wife and I dined here for our 14th anniversary and loved it! We made reservations for 8:30 and it's a good thing we did, because the place was absolutely packed (good sign!). My wife ordered the White Truffle Fettuccine and I had the Pesto Tortellini. Both were delicious, cooked perfectly, and very filling (we both had leftovers!). We shared the tiramisu for dessert, which was also excellent. And on a personal note, the host, Patrick, had been our event coordinator at Venice Restaurant when we had our wedding reception there in 2009! He was thrilled to hear we were celebrating our anniversary and gave us a free order of the Cozze Bianco, which was very generous. We have eaten at Hoof's Restaurant several times and have always felt welcome and treated exceptionally well. Last evening was no exception. We had 6:30 reservations and we arrived right at the appropriate time - the restaurant was very busy. We were warmly greeted by Patrick, the maître d. Out table was available, so we were seated immediately. We reviewed the specials and ordered two glasses of wine. The wine came in a very timely manner even though the restaurant was "packed". For dinner my wife ordered Hoof's Pasta and I ordered the Pork Chop Calabrese. The meals were served after the appropriate wait and were nicely plated and "piping hot". Both dishes were quite good, the pork chop was cooked to the requested temperature "slightly less than medium" and very delicious. Hoof's pasta was also very good and flavorful. Overall, great food and service, a five-star experience! Looking forward for a return visit for another outstanding dinner! read more

Our server was simply awful. Elizabeth. She rushed us for drinks. Got our appetizers to the table before our drinks. Got our entrees before we were even done with the appetizers. Never offered a second beverage from the bar, even with empty glasses. Asked us about dessert. We ordered a Creme brule and espresso martini. The Creme brule sat in the window for 7 minutes. The espresso martini took over 25 minutes to be delivered (after the dessert was provided). I specified NO baileys in my martini. It came with Baileys. When addressed, I asked for it to be taken off the bill as I did not want to wait another 20 minutes, while our dessert was long gone. This is my first time not tipping 20% in years. Food wasn't great. Became extremely cold extremely fast. Filet mignon was way over cooked. We will never return to this restaurant, and as a mystic native, and all for supporting small, local businesses, this is a real shame. read more

Holy sh*t this place is the BEST. I'm a NYC foodie snob who eats in $$$$ restaurants on the reg and damn if this wasn't the best Italian I've had in ages. Beef carpaccio with arugula was ridiculously good. Who ever would've thought of real bacon bits mixed in with the dressing? Not traditional, but bacon and capers taste guuud. End of story. Our server "M" was sharp, nice, and it didn't hurt that she's just plain hot. Anyhoo, she made sure we were well taken care of. Same with the Maitre'd--seated us early, and in a nice corner spot. My gal had the DOLLAR OYSTERS special (!) and I had the veal Milanese. Holy wowz. Most veal Milanese is too thin, more about the arugula and lemon. This mother was was juicy, tasty, and the salad (while a bit overdressed) was rad. None of that bitter nonsense, just fatty goodness. Love to M, and to Hoof's. LOVED it. What a find! We were in the area taking a friend from Connecticut College in New London out to dinner. From the moment we walked in, I knew this was a great choice and every part of our evening confirmed just that. As a wine lover, the list was excellent, and as a vegetarian, I was happy there were so many options. My wife (a true meat lover) was happy with carpaccio and meatballs and our friend (a pasta lover) gobbled up her ravioli. Stopped here for dinner for my anniversary. Everything was unfortunately very sub par. We ordered a round of beverages and nothing was garnished or looked well out together. We had mussels and it just tasted like a vinegar broth, it was hard to eat. We each ordered a pasta dish for our main course. While the taste wasn't bad, there was excessive oil and everything was very over cooked. I couldn't eat much of mine. I wanted to like this place but it was a miss. read more

Loved this Italian restaurant in Westerly/Pawcatuck! We did have reservations and they do recommend making one. The bread and red pepper hummus served was delicious! The food came out very fast and well prepared!! We enjoyed the calamari which was perfect and a great flavor including the cherry peppers and artichokes. We loved our housemade pasta dishes! The pasta was great! I really loved my white truffle fettuccine!! It had a delicious taste with the right amount of truffle and pancetta! The service was great and the waitress helped recommend a perfect wine for my husband's meal, the pinot noir by Saddlebred. Dessert was a key lime pie which seemed to have a chocolate or oreo crust which is was interesting but the consistency and texture of the key lime pie was great! Oh my god! This place is delightful! Let's start with the food. Everything we had was exceptional! Don had the bolognese - it's what he orders everywhere, so he knows! He loved it! Bobby had the scallops over risotto. He couldn't stop exclaiming about how good it was! JoAnn had the veal piccata and she adored it! And I ordered the veal Milanese and was thrilled with it. The cutlet was perfectly crispy and the arugula salad was delish! But the highlight of our evening were the servers, Chris primarily, and also Patrick, the Maitre D. Wanted to fall in love with this place but, alas, it wasn't meant to be...arrived at 4:30 on a Friday before the evening rush and sat at the bar. The bartender ignored me at first (the bar wasn't even half full). When he finally approached, he didn't greet me, but did place menus in front of me. I placed my order for a glass of wine which he promptly served--again, no eye contact. I then placed an order for an appetizer which was served by a member of the wait staff. A short time later, my wine glass was empty, my appetizer consumed (good, not great) and despite having walked past me numerous times during that time, the bartender never asked if I wanted another glass of wine or something else to eat‍. Second time to Hoofs and it seriously doesn't disappoint. This has become our favorite go-to restaurant in Westerly. Kelsey was our server this time and she was fabulous. We started with a beef carpaccio and a lobster bruschetta appetizers - absolutely amazing. We both selected our main entree from the specials menu - highly recommend getting something off of the specials. I had the short rib special and my better half had the scallops and filet special over risotto. Both came out steaming hot - definitely didn't sit under any warming lamp. So I drive past this establishment every day. Have heard excellent reviews, I can attest that they are 100%accurate. Did not have a reservation so we ate out front.
