The pho was good and 5 stars for the amazing drink that went above my expectations especially for not being a boba store. The coconut juice with coconut pieces and matcha cloud was so good i downed most of it by the time my pho came. Love the arch windows as well. The bathroom could be slightly better but same quality as other comparable restaurants. I def would come back to check out the other drinks. They also sell tea in a pot.

    Hairy tendon. Nice.
    Leyla N.

Had the #18 combination pho. The tendon was FULL of hairs. I have eaten a lot of pho and tendon over the years, including at this place multiple times, and I've never seen even a single piece with hair in it. When I told the server about it, he started arguing with me and said it was normal and I can't expect them to remove it completely. He pulled up Google on his phone to show me that it's normal, and even the result he showed me said that *hairs should be removed during preparation*! When I pointed that out, he just argued further and asked what do I even want from him. It was like pulling teeth to get him to even apologize and get it removed from the bill. To be clear: I had to ask for both an apology and the removal from the bill. Then he came by with some raw tendon to show me what that looks like, one piece of which had a hair on it. He compared it to pork belly and said that pork belly also has hair on it, which is normal. When I said that I've never had pork belly with hair on it, he said I just haven't had enough food experience. The gaslighting and doubling down is crazy. Used to like this place and come a lot and tip big, even though the pho itself was just okay. Thanks to this one guy's garbage service, I will never return. Take your money elsewhere to get pho that's not full of hair and service that isn't disrespectful. Update: he kept coming back to argue with me. When I respectfully said I wasn't interested in arguing over the issue any further, this regrettably only escalated his anger and he started yelling at me in front of many other customers that my behavior was why small businesses struggle. I told him I used to like supporting this place. I then repeated that I wasn't interested in fighting him and just wanted to pay and leave, and he retaliated by going back on his agreement to take the charge off my bill. Incredible. Thankfully the female server working the register finally agreed to remove it for me anyway after I pushed for it to be removed from my bill as per the original agreement. Small businesses don't fail because of customers like me who enjoy supporting small businesses and tip generously when they go. They fail (in part) because of unhinged behavior like this from the business owners. I would have considered continuing to support this place even with the hair-filled tendon (I would just order something else) if not for his conduct, and I'm upset and saddened that he made that no longer possible.

Cute lil hole in the wall spot right downtown. The veggie pho broth was SO FLAVORFUL, could actually taste the anise and other spices and herbs and it was 10/10 on a cold rainy day. The dessert special (forgot the name) was a fried banana with coconut of sorts, it was warm and creamy and delicious. Not overly fried, just right. Sweet service too! Def would return

This small business is family owned. The grilled pork was a bit tough, but other than that vermicelli is what you would want on a hot day. Service was quick and they were diligent with refilling water.

We were in the Downtown Seattle area and saw the name of this restaurant and decided to stop by this place for lunch. We were seated once we stepped inside. The dining area was decorated with Vietnamese decorations and even had a tv playing Vietnamese music videos. I ordered their Pho with meat, tripe and tendon. The food came pretty quickly. Right about the same time as when I came back from washing my hands. The broth was light and the meat was soft and tender. The pho did have some decent pieces of tripe and tendon. The staff was friendly and looked like it was family owned. I would come back here if I'm ever back in the Seattle area.

    Delicious banana with sticky rice!

I really, really liked Hot As Pho. The set up is a bit different as you have to call their number posted in the door in order to let you in. I think it's a preventative measure so no unsavory characters try to come in and then they can't get them to leave. If you do call they answer the door right away. I came here super hungry and got a good Vermicelli Bowl with Pork but was still hungry so I got a Pork Banh Mi Sandwich and it was fantastic! It literally melted in my mouth and was so very flavorful. Between the bowl and the sandwich two different transactions were done as you pretty much have to pay after placing an order and I wasn't sure if I was going to eat more so that is arranged a bit differently too. When I ordered my sandwich I also got their dessert too which was very good as well. Really good sticky rice and banana. Despite some things being atypical here the food is really good and service is very efficient!

We had lunch here and ordered the large pho tai chin nam (#12) and the banh mi ga nuong which is a grilled chicken sandwich. We liked the food, especially the pho. The prices are good for the area and considering the recent inflation hikes everywhere, the portions are not super big though. Service was fast. The only thing to be aware is that you're asked to pay shortly after you order your food and there is a credit card charge if you choose to use one.

tl;dr the juicy Caribbean pork sandwiches at this revived Seattle mini-chain live up to the…read morelegendary hype Un Bien is arguably Seattle's most popular sandwich joint, and its dramatic history begins with Cuban chef Lorenzo Lorenzo and his initial shop, Paseo. Lorenzo opened Paseo in 1994, where his popular Cuban roast pork sandwiches were regarded as among the best in the country. After years of local expansion, Paseo abruptly filed for bankruptcy in 2014. The brand was subsequently bought out by a local entrepreneur, but the sale did not include Paseo's secret recipes (the reboot attempted to reverse engineer the sandwiches with varying success). So, in 2015, Lorenzo's sons revived Paseo under a new name, Un Bien, armed with their father's original recipes. Nowadays, Un Bien is generally regarded as superior to Paseo, and you can grab their Caribbean sandos at one of the three locations across Seattle. You can't miss the pastel pink-and-teal palette of the original shack on an otherwise drab block of Ballard. As you approach the wooden window, you are greeted by the aroma of sauteed meats and veggies. Communal laquered wood benches are lined up underneath a covered pergola. Fifties hits ring respectfully around the kitchen. My partner and I visited for late weekday lunch, and we ordered immediately. We opted to focus on the signature pork shoulder, so we split the #1 Caribbean Roast and #2 The Press. Across both sandwiches, we were impressed by the tender pork, rich onions, lemon-forward aioli, and marinade-soaked baguette. The standard roast pork sandwich added on pickled jalapenos and crisp romaine, culminating in a dynamic flavor that accentuated the meat. Meanwhile, The Press featured tart banana peppers, smoked ham, and melty Swiss, amping up the sweet and savory flavors alike; we agreed that this extra-messy sandwich just edged out the standard version. Our order took just minutes to be prepared, and the bill just topped $30. Despite the fanfare, I still found myself surprised by just how satisfying Un Bien's sandwiches turned out to be. Across all the food I ate in Seattle, only these pork sandwiches would be worth a return visit, even if I had to venture out of my way.

Messy, pricey, totally overrated…read more My family and I visited Un Bien and arrived approximately 45 minutes before closing. We ordered promptly, but were told we would only have about 10 minutes to use the seating area before it closed. When we asked for clarification because the restaurant was advertised as being open until 9:00 PM, staff confirmed they were open until then but said the seating area would close earlier anyway. After receiving our food, we were told not to sit down and were asked to leave the seating area altogether. The interaction felt abrupt and discourteous, especially given that we had arrived well before closing and had purchased food with the expectation that we could eat on-site. The food itself was average, but the poor customer service and inconsistent messaging about seating left a much stronger impression than the meal. There are other better places. Skip.

I got the Fast Eddie with fries and it was alright. The meat was bit dry. Yes there was the au jus to dip in and it helped quite a bit, but all the flavors just didn't mesh. It was basically an ordinary french dip. The fries were okay, but the jalapeno aioli was great! That made everything better, but not enough to save the sandwich. Located in the Seattle Center Armory, along with many other food vendors, Big Mike's Sandwich Company is serving up huge cheesesteaks, chopped cheese, and other East Coast-style subs. For $25, I picked up the cheesesteak and fries combo. Not a terrible price for the portion. Waited about 10-15 minutes for the sandwich to come out. You order on a tablet here, and then they call your name. It's a small storefront, so you really have to stay nearby to hear your name being called in the large space that is the Armory. Not much interaction with staff. Plenty of seating throughout the Armory, though shared with other restaurants. The food came out piping hot. Obviously, they cook everything fresh to order because the inside of the fries was like lava. The fries were thick-cut and seasoned to perfection. The sandwich was good. I thought some pieces of the steak were a bit tough, and the roll seemed a bit over-steamed or possibly stale. A good sandwich and decent portion, nonetheless. I'm still going 5 stars here. I think Big Mike's is a great choice if you want a hearty, meat-filled sandwich and you happen to be in the area. However, I think you could be happy with another dining option in the Armory, too. My kids loved the MOD Pizza nearby. While there isn't anything wildly unique going on at Big Mike's, they are still pushing out great sandwiches at reasonable prices with a no-frills ordering process.

The only drawback was the price--at around $20 per sandwich, it felt a bit expensive for what you get, especially considering it was just a 6-inch sub, even though the quality was good. We visited during a FIFA World Cup match, so the line was quite long, but it moved steadily and efficiently. No complaints there.
