Horrible hospitality. Won't return. Their website says the happy hour deals are restaurant wide. We showed up with a big group to be rudely told by our waitress that the happy hour drinks or only available at the bar and we told her what the website said. The website states happy hour DRINK specials are restaurant wide and the food specials are bar and patio only. She spoke to her manager and returned and said she would allow the discount for the drinks....no appearance from the manager mind you. Then, she was extremely petty and transferred our table to a new employee who ended up not applying the happy hour discounts. Checked out the new Houlihan's yesterday and was not really impressed. If you are expecting anything (good or bad) like the old Houlihans (at the Continent, back in the day) then forget it. It is the same in name only. The decor is nice and fits in well in its Upper Arlington locations at Kingsdale Shopping Center. Dark, leather and stone, modern decor. Fire behind the bar and a really nice looking patio once the weather breaks. Here's the rub....the food and drink are expensive and and just OK. We got a couple of apps (spin dip, parm frites) Spin dip was good but nothing special and the parm frites were average frozen fries with parmasean cheese sprinkled on top. Not exactly gourmet or good. We didn't have any entrees, but I am not interested in chicken fingers for $15. The beer selection was decent but not nearly as good as most bars in the area. I'm sure it will be fairly popular because it is new and doesn't have too much competition in the immediate vicinity, but this place is just not that great and I think their prices are paying for the nice decor. read more

How dee do! The new Houlihan's located on Tremont near the Giant Eagle Market District is very nice. I can envision this place being a real social center for the area's residents. Truly! First there is plenty of parking. You don't like to think about parking in a areas that is always seemed so unoccupied by other cars but walking is good. Not a problem if you park near Zollinger Road. Just do it. I was greeted by a staffer opening the door upon arrival. Before entering I have to say that on a nice evening (about 5:45PM) the patio areas were full of patrons - that's good. Okay, they see nothing more than parked cars or passing cars. It's about the company we keep though isn't it? Thought so. Entering I had several choices. A large dining room seating area filled with golden draped walls and nice furniture. Booths, tables... the likes were all there. I opted to sit at the bar which seats an estimated 16 or so. On the right half of Houlihan's in this bar area are several high tops of varying sizes. During my stay there were couples and big groups all having a good time, so it seemed. This is a gathering place... I thought. My meal consisted of the Ahi Tuna Salad and the Flatbread Mushroom App. Both arrived quickly and both were very very tasty. The ahi tuna was seared with the main portions bright red with flavor. There was a light dressing on the asian cabbable salad beneath and a nice drizzle in four spots on the bowl of wasabi sauce. I like the tasted and presentation because I could grab small doses of the drizzle to suit my taste for heat. The Flatbread was crispy and good tasting. Price wise I got out for under $25 (no alcohol - just diet coke). So it's not pub food pricing but not over the top either. I am going to definitely try Houlihan's again (and again I'll bet). read more

My friend and I, whom hadn't seen each other in two years (sad right?), met here on a whim last night to catch up. I had previewed the menu and it sounded pretty delicious (then again my stomach at the time was almost eating itself so probably chocolate covered toilet paper would've enticed me at that point) so we agreed to it and off we went. At the door, I was greeted by two ladies and one of which opened the door for me, which I'm not accustomed to as I'm always the one holding the doors. A pleasant surprise! I entered and immediately noticed how clean the restaurant was, the cool decor, etc. and was promptly seated in a comfy booth. While I awaited on my friend's arrival, I ordered a beer and our waitress (whose name I did not catch) was very attentive. She was fantastic. The whole staff was great really. Upon her arrival, our waitress was very patient with us, as she would come back to see if we were ready to order and we were too busy gabbing. So we decided on the Edamame appetizer, an order of potstickers and a bottle of Cabernet, which was half off on Tuesdays (SCORE!). The appetizers seemed a bit small for two people but that was okay I suppose if you're going to eat a full meal. The food was really good. Like really, really good. I probably could've ate enough potstickers to end up looking like a sumo wrestler (or, at the very least, feeling like one) by the time I left. It was a fantastic experience. Normally I'm not one for "chains" per-say, however this was wonderful. I'll definitely return to try more food and dinner...and another bottle of wine. read more

This is a great place for lunch, dinner or happy hour! Everything I've had has been really good from the salads to seafood to martinis to dessert. I love the martini flight - letting you choose 3 small martinis from a list of choices for under $9! The salads are fresh and tasty. I've had the scallops and the tuna wontons - both were very fresh and flavorful. The s'mores dessert is fun & different with a pot of melted chocolate & marshmallow with strawberries & graham crackers to dip. YUM! Please educate your staff on allergy's!!! This is not based on a sit down experience. Called a couple days ago, to ask if certain items where dairy free. Was told yes they were. When ordered today for a carry out. Ordered a couple of the dairy free items (so I thought) then ordered a couple more items to be made dairy free (no cheese, simple things) burger had cheese so had to toss that out. Also pretty sure the item (cauliflower wings) had dairy in it as well. I was looking forward for this dinner. Couldn't eat the main course, and now I am sitting with an upset stomach getting sick. Again, please train your staff better. read more

I went to Houlihan's for restaurant week this January 2015. I can't believe I haven't tried this place out sooner, given how close it is to the Giant Eagle Market District where I go often. The restaurant has a modern, relaxing feel to it. Their soft bavarian pretzel sticks were really good -- soft, warm, and it went so well with their cheese dip. Their mustard dip probably has a bit of wasabi in it, just FYI. Their firecracker shrimp was also really good -- really crisp, slightly spicy, Asian-flavored. Their mushroom & arugula flatbread was also pretty good. Entree-wise I ordered the scallops with arugula and risotto. Scallops were on the smaller side and there was a definite strong lemon taste in everything (arugula, risotto, scallops) but overall very tasty. Boyfriend ordered the St. Louis ribs -- they weren't exactly St. Louis style (not as crispy, more juicy) but were still excellent. Service at Houlihan's was decent, we were served promptly and without issues. Wines are half off on Tuesday by the way! read more

Be careful if you go here for lunch. They have a great lunch menu with a reduced price bar menu. However, if you order the 9.95 soup and salad choice, you are not eligible for the reduced bar menu ( YOU MUST SPEND 10 DOLLARS. MY SPOUSE SPENT OVER 12 ON A REGULAR ENTREE) We have been dining here once a week for at least the last 6 months. It's a shame to lose a loyal customer for $.05. Adios Houlihans!!! read more

When I moved here from Missouri one of the restaurants I missed was Houlihan's. When I found out they were coming here I was happy happy happy! Will say this first and foremost about this Houlihan's...it is the best decorated one I've ever been in. Staff was very friendly and they gained major points when I didn't like one of my martini flights and they replaced it with one I did like. Oh and those flights - alright!!!! Lemon drop and guavatini are musts if you like martinis. First time I've had shrooms in almost 3 years and it brought back many fond memories. The food was good as always and they are accommodating for those of us with food allergies (although they are STILL limited with their desert menu for us allergic people) Will happily return. read more

The atmosphere is great, the staff is great, the drink selection is great, and the Tuesday 1/2 off bottles of wine is amazing! I've not been super impressed with the food yet. The first time I came I had the lettuce wraps, and to be quite honest it was lettuce, fried won tons and what seemed like the bottom scrapings of a General Tso's chicken dish from a low end Chinese place. Unimpressed. The second time I went I got the Chicken and Avocado Egg (spring) Rolls; I was envisioning the delicious version of this done by Cheesecake Factory. I was very disappointed. They were overly fried and oily with very little distinction of what was actually inside the egg roll. I have had the Chicken Tortilla Soup each time I've gone, and it's been delicious both times. My wife and I are new to Houlihan's. We live in Linworth and used to dine at J Gilbert's. A friend suggested we try Houlihan's since they had a similar menu at about half the price. I signed-up at their website and received a $10 off a $30 dollar dinner. We went there the evening of February 28 and had to wait about 35 minutes to get a table. The waitress was very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and wine. The food was outstanding, and the atmosphere was very nice. The prices were incredible reasonable for the quality! Very happy to have a new restaurant in Kingsdale as I work nearby. Been a few times now and so far, so good. Very nice interior, though it is pretty dark and some of my normal party have a difficult time reading the menu. When you emerge after lunch, you kind of feel like you have been in a Casino... shocked that it is actually still day light out. They keep the place pretty chilly as well. Their fare is standard chain, well prepared and lots of choices without being overwhelming. The nutritional information on the website is a bit difficult to decode and there is not information for all the menu items. Easy place to fall off the wagon- as they give out free cookies at lunch... grrr. Low calorie choices are rather limited, but the BBQ chicken flatbread comes down at about 450 and is very good- so doable. Also, watch out- the house salad comes with bacon on top which is not disclosed on the lunch time menu. Watch out, my vegetarian friends. Service has much improved since opening week but is still a bit rough. I think this will easily improve with time. They do a very nice of job of getting you in and out quickly, which is especially nice for lunch. read more

I'm not the *best* at planning ahead for things, so at 7:30pm on the Wednesday of restaurant week, this was available and the menu piqued the interest of my picky dining partner. Drinks were good, it's clean and well-lit on the inside. The calamari we each had as part of the prix fixe menu were enough that we could have split one. I am somewhat of a regular in Fairfield, N. J. It had come to my attention recently that we have one in Columbus. I was elated! So, invited some of the family and... No disappointments! The atmosphere was magnificent! Very upscale with a hint of sportsbar! Do not let that discourage you as Houlihans is priced as an O'Charlies. However, the "Comfort Food" menu is or taste like grandma's kitchen! Our server Leah was amazing and the Pot Roast, Meatlof, Scallops, and Salmon were delicious! We ordered to go food. Burger and French dip. We are to remain a 6ft distance from others in public and no more than 10 people in an area at a time. My husband went to pick up our order last night and there were at least 20 people waiting at the front desk. Our food wasn't ready. He waited for about 12 mins which is a very long time for a carry out order. We wanted to support local restaurants but this is frustrating Houlihan's didn't have a better system in place. They never should have had that many people waiting at the same time. Also my medium burger was burnt to a crisp. read more

Went for a quick meal before we went to the movies. The restaurant wasn't really busy, which we thought was perfect. We got a seat outside and then waited for someone to come take our drink order. After about 15 minutes and no wait staff we decided we had had enough and decided to leave. I went to return our menus to the hostess stand and saw 3 different waitresses chit chatting away. I think I was expecting more from Houlihan's because I've been several times in NY and the food was awesome. I don't know if it's because I went later in the evening, or if it had just changed over time but I wish it would've been a lot better. My steak was dry, my rice was cold. I complained to the manager but it was my birthday and I didn't want to wait any longer for a fresh meal. The service however was awesome. My first time at Houlihan's was great! I didn't expect it to feel as upscale as it did, and the bar was very impressive. I tried an entree and appetizer from the Inspiralized menu and wasn't disappointed. The zucchini spirals tasted very much like pasta, and I probably wouldn't have known otherwise. I have eaten at Houlihan's a few times, and they were all great and fun. The wait staff has always been excellent, chatty and fun, and the decor/atmosphere has a great aesthetic and feels calm and inviting. Everything is quick, with the most I have had to wait was thirty minutes for six entrees. My favorite dish is the Melty Cheesy Burger, but all of my meals there have been very good, and I will gladly come back. Houlihan's is a great place to eat and I can not recommend it enough. read more

Our party of four thoroughly enjoyed the first visit, meal and service at Houlihan's/UA on Friday evening, 1/27/23. We had reservations at 5:30 pm and were at the restaurant for two hours. Our waitress, Mackenzie S. provided outstanding attention, recommendations and service. The food was wonderfully prepared from scratch and presented. Our party selected two appetizers, the Large 'shrooms and the Pan-Fried Pork Dumplings, and both were excellent, shareable and we recommend getting starters with the meal. Our party selected a variety of meals, the Kansas City Burger meal, the Buffalo Bleu Chicken Salad, and the 12Z Strip Steak meal (shared by the two ladies in our group). All food selection portion sizes were generous, definitely made from scratch in the Houlihan's kitchen, and delivered to our table in perfect timing for our enjoyment. The ambience of the restaurant was warm and pleasant. The dining area was roomy and comfortable. Our party had plenty of time to visit, talk, and enjoy drinks. As I indicated above, our waitress, Mackenzie S., made our evening perfect and Houlihan's has a good system of servers/runners to ensure Mackenzie S. had assistance in making our experience wonderful. They burger was decent but had better burgers for lower price elsewhere. Overall, doesn't live up to the high cost of food. read more

Went there for a business lunch and enjoyed the food and service. Nice, clean place, easy seating, fast service, and great wait staff. All four of us felt the food was very good and prepared properly. However on one of the orders, which was salmon, she asked that it not be salted. It was prepared and provided without salt and was great. But it came with asparagus on the same plate, and they salted that! No biggie, but it limited how much asparagus she ate. The food was also a little on the high side, as a lunch for 4 without any alcohol (and two had just water), the cost was $75. With tip we were at $90. I love Houlihan's on all of my past visits. I even choose to visit this particular restaurant on my exact bday 3 years in a row. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed this past week. I dined with my husband and another friend this particular time. Total bill for 3 of us was over $150. I had a free bday entree that I was hoping to use. It was returned to me bc no other entree was purchased. Besides that, my entree was terrible. This is a huge surprise bc the food is always good. I ordered the chicken fettuccine. Have been to other Houlihan's in other areas and i did not realize there was one here in Columbus. We came in after seeing they were particpating in restaurant week. They were on a wait but got a first come first serve table in the bar while happy hour waa still going on, so we ordered a drink. Our waiter was nice and seemed to hustle between his tables as everything came out in a timely manner. We ordered from the special 3 course restaurant week menu. I ordered the miso salmon. The salmon and quinoa were prepared very nicely with a lot of flavor. The edamame, however, had no salt, and was rather dry. Our server asked us if we wanted dessert, twice, before we had even finished our entrees. She gave us our check, before we finished our entrees. Our server was really nice, I just think the order in which she does things could be tweaked a little. So many people asked us how everything was, my friend became annoyed. I did tell someone my edamame was dry and he brought me a side of asparagus. I really like Houlihan's though, because the lighting is good, it's very pleasant, nothing is obnoxious, the food is good, and the staff is nice.
