Sometimes you dine at a place that is so good, it makes you feel like you just want to keep it to yourself. But from all of the reviews about House, it seems the secret is out. This is by far, the most unique sandwich shop in Media, and well worth the trip there. Atmosphere - A quaint little storefront off of Jackson Street is the entrance to this little gem. Inside, is a mix of unique photography and eclectic art, along with unique items you won't find anywhere else. There is seating both in and outside, however, VERY little room for dining. Off peak dining is fine, but lunch rush you may want to plan on eating or taking out. Waitstaff - Counter help brought our food out, however, was very pleasant and recommended some good things. Really made my wife and I feel like we were at home even thought it was out first time dining there. They had a delivery come, which we had to move our tables to accommodate the size, and she provided us with on the house brownies. Great service and awesome brownies, a nice treat when we didn't feel inconvenienced. Food - Hands down amazing. I had the 'King Khan' sandwich, which was phenomenal. Crisp bread, amazing buffalo sauce, really a unique take on the sandwich with the caramelized onions. My wife had the Stilton grilled cheese and Shiva side salad. Really fresh greens and delicious paring between cheese on the sandwich made this a homerun. Came out really hot and melty, but the kind of way where you don't mind licking the fingers it's so tasty. Intangibles - Fresh teas are available in the fridge, but I went with the Joe's lemon tea. What a refreshing regionally provided treat! Highly recommended for those who appreciate quality and a very, very reasonable price. Mentioned that they do catering as well, which we'll be taking advantage of in the future. Overall - It's hard to believe I've lived in this area for a number of years and never been here, but I will be going all the time. A great treat for Delaware County residents. Remember, they close at 5pm, so much more of a lunch place then a dinner place, but this is the kind of lunch that makes the rest of your day better. First off, let me clarify that I grew up in Media and I remember when my dad got his hair cut where the first desk is now. I also remember when it was a tea room that was just lovely. But now that it's House... well, i wish i had gone there sooner. I don't get lunch in Media ever because, well, have you been to Media during the day? But I have been for Dinner and Brunch. The food for dinner was unreal good. Smaller (READ: REASONABLE) portions, delicious food. If you are in a rush, this may not be the place for you. Sometimes the staff is a little kookie. The ambiance is wonderful. But the reason i keep going back, and i am being 100% serious, is the music. Let me explain. I am 33 years old. I was born in 1980. I was a teen through the 90's and a weird one at that. I was (and still am) a music lover. This place plays the oddest but best 90's weird alt music. It isn't loud. If you weren't listening for it, you wouldn't notice. But it's there, and it's awesome. I've tried to tell someone every time I'm there, while I'm on my way out, that i come for the food, but i stay for the music. But no one is ever there when I'm leaving :( My husband is a vegetarian, and there are some nice dinner selections for him. The staff, as previously mentioned, is a little kookie. One night the hostess rang up my card wrong, so she re-rang it, but did the math wrong. Tipping fixed it, but still, it was odd. The service isn't fast for dinner. But it isn't painfully slow. The tables are close to each other, and it is filled with Swarthmore and Media "elite". So brace thyself. But the food? Awesome. In Swarthmore they're very few options for really good food. When we looked on yelp to find a place hardly any held a rating of 4 or greater. However, this place is a great exception. We ordered split pea soup which was excellent and spices perfectly. I split the roasted chicken with potato smash and green beans and it was delicious. The chicken was moist and the mash potatoes and veg had just the right amount of seasoning to complement the entree as a whole. For dessert we splurged and tried the butterscotch cake. It was so good. The richness of the cake contrasted with the airy whipped cream it was served with made for a scrumptious combination. All in all, the portions sizes were just right. I was able to split both the chicken entree and the dessert and feel completely that I had enough to eat. I would definitely come back. One of my favorite restaurants in Delaware County. I try to get something different every time I go and I have never been disappointed. I love the featherweight panini or the lightweight panini. Everything is made with fresh ingredients. Another favorite is the butterscotch cake to end the meal. You get two generous slices so you could share with a friend. Went here for brunch yesterday with a party of 5 and it was really delicious. They have a brunch menu, but the regular menu is available as well. My one small complaint is that during brunch you can't do the regular lunch combination where you can pick a soup, salad, and sandwich. A few of us were interested in this option and it would have been nice if it were available. However, the food was really very good. Everyone got something different and besides a few home fries that no could find room for, everyone cleaned their plates. There were a lot of interesting options and the food came out fresh, hot and delicious. Service was great. We will definitely be back! read more

Went here for a "quick" lunch, and while it turned out not to be very quick, it was pretty good. Loved this place! It's so cute and cozy inside, you feel like you're in someone's home. Came with a friend for brunch on a Saturday afternoon - we brought 2 bottles of champagne, since it's BYOB (huge plus), and ordered 2 glasses of orange juice to make mimosas. The orange juice was delicious, and it seemed like it was fresh squeezed. I ordered the Shakshuka, which is a Middle Eastern dish with tomatoes, herbs, eggs, and goat cheese, and it was delicious. My friend ordered the pork quesadillas which were also great! We split the French toast and it was actually my favorite part of the meal. They were light and perfectly cooked. What a great little place to have lunch!! I was going to be in the area to meet an old friend and thought I would see what my fellow yelpers liked in Media. Fellow yelpers, you never let me down! The people who worked here were super nice! I ordered the Stack (double creme brie, cheddar, charred onions, and smoked bacon) and added apples. It was, in a word, amazing. My friend ordered the King Khan (spicy chicken salad, charred onions, & gorgonzola) and that also looked good. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in downtown media. Super cozy atmosphere with optional outdoor seating and friendly and accommodating staffs I ordered the "mighty veg" cold sand which with a side of sea salt kettle cooked chips. Chips were delicious and a sizable portion for the low price of only $1.50. My cold sand which, might veg was delicious and huge, topped with roasted veggies on a chibata, $7.00. For dessert, I got the butterscotch cake which was huge, big enough for splitting, and was delivered to us still warm. I used to love house for brunch, lunch, and dinner, but now I only find it worth coming for dinner. Their salmon is absolutely amazing and it's a great ambience, plus BYO is a perk. I came for brunch recently and the experience was overall horrible. We waited an hour for our food which is absolutely ridiculous for breakfast, and when the manager eventually came over to let us know he was sorry, he made excuses saying that they were really busy that day (the place wasn't even full) and didn't offer to take anything off the bill, nothing. My food was also cold. I will not be back for brunch and I have a hard time giving them my business in general now because the manager is so unprofessional. read more

I've loved this little spot ever since my husband and I discovered it for brunch years ago. It would get pretty crowded on weekends but was always worth it. I popped in today with my mom for the first time in years (we moved) and it was happy to see it was very much the same. The food is consistently delicious and the staff is very friendly. They were great about Covid regulations as well. The soup of the day was a Power Green soup topped with Parmesan, and I had the half house salad and half Stack grilled cheese. It was my mother's first visit and she loved her Shiva salad with curried chicken salad on it. One of my favorite things I'd they have multiple brewed iced teas, so you can get something refreshing without the caffeine (like the peppermint iced tea I had today). I live in Media and have resided there for the past 4 years. House is BY FAR my favorite restaurant in town. The food is exceptional and the atmosphere is delightful. I don't know much about women, but I do know this...women love brunch. Take your lady (or fella) here for brunch and they'll love you forever. Furthermore, I highly recommend the AM burrito. Perfect for hangovers. As for those patrons complaining about the wait staff and service time, you can go blow it out your ass. All of the employees are running around, doing the best they can. This place came highly recommended by a friend but I was very disappointed with our dinner. We had a wonderful waiter but the food for our table of 5 was just okay and not great. The vegetarian mozzarella panini I ordered was so tasteless that I couldn't eat it. The other guests at our table liked their food okay but we all agreed we wouldn't be back unless we want to try their brunch. Another factor was there was no ambiance. I went with a few friends for the first time this Sunday. I wanted to be impressed, fall in love and want to keep coming back but House did not deliver. Our waitress was a smart-aleck who probably thought she was being funny, but we found her very rude. Half the the food was great, the other half was cold. The potatoes were cold on everyone's plate and the poached eggs on my bennadict were cooked hard, no runny yolk at all. The portions are not large, so a couple of us were about to order more but we had to run. The place itself is cute, it does make you feel like you're just in someone house, relaxing. This is probably one of my favorite casual eating places specially brunch and lunch. I was first introduced to this place by a coworker around 2013 when I worked at one of the nearby banks when they only opened for a few hours a day. Once I stoped working in Media, I concentrated on my other job and I would wonder about this place, but the hours were difficult. I recently had family over, and have taking tje day off, I figure it would be a good idea to come here again. I'm so happy that not only have they extended their hours, but also they got a little make over. The food is amazing as ever!!! The prices are reasonable! The staff is always courteous, friendly, and quick. My faves are the El Niño Panini, and the French toast from their brunch menu. Their mac and cheese is good too. My brother loved King Khan panini when he was visiting the area and their waffles. Everything is fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, and I look forward to keep coming, and trying different items from the menu! read more

Excellent place for lunch with a friend or on a date. A small joint with a simple yet tasteful decor. Outside dinning is available. The staff makes everything from scratch on the premise, and you can taste the difference without a long wait. I had the house salad and the King Khan Panini. The sandwich delivered a perfect blend of heat and cool flavors from the sauce and cheese. The chicken tasted amazing, much better than any chain restaurant. The salad complemented the dish well by adding a refreshing balance to the spiciness of the sandwich (note that the sandwich never felt overpowering). The blue cheese in both creates the perfect connection between both sides of the plate. You should try what I ordered or ask the staff for a recommendation; I asked them what they liked and stumbled upon this great combination. I recommend going with a party no larger than two people, unless you expect a lot of available outside seating. You may feel cramped inside with a larger group. I also stopped by in the late afternoon and the place still had half the seats filled. I would imagine a full house at noon, so I would probably avoid going exactly at twelve. All in all I loved the place. I plan to go back and bring more people with me so they can discover a new good restaurant. read more
