I've never had a bad experience at Houston's. The food, and the service are ALWAYS consistent. This place is perfect for a date night since it has dim lighting, very sexy environment. I went to houston's for dinner this weekend and was pleasantly surprised when I was able to get a last minute reservation. Overall a solid evening. I started off with a cocktail which i can't seem to remember the name of but consisted of belvedere and muddled grapes and it was delicious. We were anticipating the grilled artichokes but they were out for the night. So we opted for the spinach dip, shrimp cocktail, and the side salad which was great. We did filet and ribeye for our entrees and both proved to be excellent choices. Finished off with their seasonal fresh berries and cream and it did not disappoint. My family and I have been to this Houston's many times. The restaurant's sophisticated yet comfortable ambiance has always provided the ideal backdrop for our nights out. Amazing experience from start to finish! We came here for lunch a little before noon during the week and were seated right away, but the restaurant quickly filled up after that. I recommend coming at off-peak times to avoid waiting. We ordered the spinach & artichoke dip to start which was out-of-this-world; it was the epitome of what a good spinach & artichoke dip should be. Next up was Thai steak & noodle salad, featuring a heaping amount of filet and amazing flavors that blended seamlessly together. We also got barbecue pork ribs which fell right off the bone. They came with fries- get spicy mayo on the side to dip them in, it's delicious! I recommend ordering a drink that features one of the freshly squeezed juices at the bar. The worst customer service ever. We made a reservation for 12.45. came - we are not on the list. my husband calls and talks to the manager - they tell us that they assigned us the next day, but they will try to do something. after waiting 25 minutes!!!! As a result, they come up to us and ask to fold the stroller. I explain - the child is 4 months old - SHE DOESN'T SIT! she can only lay down - she is 4 months old!!! To which they repeat to me that they can give us a high chair! I politely say again - the child is 4 months old - she cannot sit, to which they tell us - that they not gonna be able to serve us. read more

There are several locations. This one is not my favorite location. I must say the service, choice of appetizers, and and entrees are absolutely outstanding. I can honestly say that only once us 15 years or more I had something l did not care for. The ribs, steak, seafood and salad you can't go wrong. Most times you will find live music. There 95% of the time a wait. I strongly advise you to make reservations. You will not be disappointed. You also may catch a celebrity or two dining there as well. read more

We had dinner here last night. The food was delicious and service was great. Then we all got food poisoning. When we called to let them know just in case there were issues with some of the ingredients, the manager told us it was just a sensitivity to the dairy. I've certainly never had a sensitivity to dairy nor have the other two that dined with us. Unfortunate that they won't take it seriously, and I hope it doesn't impact anyone else that dines there. read more

I was a little hesitant beforehand, after reading their dress code etc. They were not as strict as it seemed on their website. Started the day off with their old Cuban cocktail. What an incredible drink. The rum, the lime and mint are great combination. It looked so good, we had the table next to us order it too. I had the club salad. It was good. Crisp greens, crunchy bacon, half boiled egg and chunks of avocado with garlic buttermilk. Not really worth $18. The chicken sandwich was good too. Breaded chicken between two slices of bread, kale salad, tomatoes and cheese. It really hit the spot. Overall great place and good food. Prices are a little steep. read more

They use to treat customers so well but recently it's become so bad!!! Hope things go back to the way they were. I love this restaurant. The history goes back to my childhood(12 yrs old). I'm 33 today. When I was 12 my mom must of been dating someone and they would frequently go to Houston's. Every time she came home from the date she would always bring back Chicken Fingers and French Fries for me. That eventually became my favorite meal ever. When I became old enough to go on my first date I brought my gf at the time here and also had chicken fingers and French fries. But I'm here today and they are telling me they no longer make my favorite meal. Im DEVASTATED. The restaurant is still beautiful. Food still great. wow what can i say a really great chain restaurant! it has extremely beautiful and elegant decor inside, i'm a sucker for anything with a fireplace ! cool to have a great steak dinner or a light lunch.. i usually order "the hawaiian" and the artichokes when i'm eating healthy i get the green isle salad with delicious rotisserie chicken. drinks are really good and pretty strong,ni mayted what you get and all the soda comes in a jar, pretty cute and unique. seafood is super fresh, can't go wrong with anything here ! read more

If I could give them ZERO stars I would! My friends and I went to Houston's in Riverside for dinner. We sat down at 5:45. We had two rounds of drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert. At 7:45pm the manager came over to us and asked us to leave. Now if the restaurant was crowded or if there was any notice that we only had a 2 hour window that would be acceptable. There were about 6 tables open that I could see and the hostess never told us there was a time limit. NEVER again! This was the rudest restaurant experience of my life and I've eaten in some beautiful and not so beautiful establishments. It doesn't matter- I want nice service and good food. Is that too much to ask considering the prices at Houston's? Not worth it!! read more

Definitely make a reservation in advance, although you can check day of and there are usually some cancellations online. Nice decor inside, though it's more busy than intimate. Started off with the artichoke dip based on the waitress' recommendation after the artichoke was sold out. That was probably the least liked item. It tasted like something from a chain restaurant and served with salsa and sour cream which I thought was a bit unusual. We split the tuna sashimi salad and Hawaiian steak. The tuna was more seared ahi tuna than sashimi and skimped on the tuna with four small pieces, but was still good. The Hawaiian was the highlight of the meal, though the loaded potato it comes with was like a Wendy's loaded potato. Service was solid..attentive and polite but not overbearing. I used to be a huge fan of Houston's but each time I come, I have a worse experience than the last. The ambiance has gone so down hill since the company is trying to create a very "stuck up" environment. If you're looking for a snobby place, where people dress in sweats and look like trash but have Balenciaga written on their shirt, then you've come to the right place. The managers and company are more invested in their look than how they treat human beings. Today, they turned away my family of 4 because we had a small child with us and they could not accommodate our child due to their "firm Company policy". The manager even went so far as to say that this was the firm policy around all 50 states. He was indecent, rude and had no empathy. Their lack of judgment and discretion is beyond me. I have seen them even be discriminatory against someone in a wheelchair saying there was no room on the dining floor for it. Today was the final straw for us. We used to be very loyal and come almost every 2-3 weeks but after yet another rude incident on their part, we have given up on Houston's. Hopefully they will start focusing on what it means to be a restaurant and make people feel comfortable when they come here. It sucks for the chefs too because they are great cooks - they are the only reason I'm not giving 1 star! Save your money and go somewhere else. My friend and I have been going to Houston's for about 6 years now, especially for birthday dinners. I made reservations almost two weeks prior. The food was good and our waitress very pleasant. However, our dinner was ruined by management! First a manager in a Chefs coat saying we needed to go outside if we needed to take a call, which I found it strange the way he approached us as we were sitting at one of the booths close to the bar and everyone was on their phone. Then as I had just finished paying the bill, a second manager came to us asking how was everything, therefore I made him aware that the waitress was splendid, but I was taken back by the other manager as I thought perhaps we were approached for sending back a drink and it seemed odd because lately people are always on there phone and don't even follow the dress code as many customers walk in wearing tracksuits and not very well groomed. The manager just said "You have a 90 minute limit and you have exceeded it!" When I said that was very rude and it just discourages us from returning to this establishment" he just said "Do what you want, I don't care, next time make a reservation!" and walked away. He was extremely unprofessional and I felt it was racial profiling which I commented to him as well. I discussed this experience to 2 other friends and they said they had a similar experience with the same manager 2 weeks ago. It is such a shame this is the treatment from a place that is over priced and we gladly spend the money, but as of now I will not be returning to this establishment! read more
