Yes, my husband and i had our FIRST date there! We go back every May 3rd! and other times too, always very good! Nancy Kelly

An overall terrific experience. The staff is attentive and the food is terrific. I wish I knew when the artichoke season was happening because I was looking forward to that appetizer! The shrimp cocktail was terrific, the salads were perfectly seasoned and crunchy. My only slight annoyance was that the old fashioned came with a handful of crushed ice instead of a large I it's possibly the first steakhouse I've ever been to that does not have a larger ice cube. If anyone from Houston's is reading this, work on that! Complimentary valet, nice bathrooms, beautiful ambiance... Overall top notch place.

Impeccable service. Every staff member went above and beyond in every way possible. What's even more impressive is that all that came off natural, organic, and effortless. Kudos for creating such welcoming and truly comfortable environment. Perfect balance between receiving attention and getting enough space to enjoy our experience. We never felt rushed for a minute, even as we closed the restaurant on a weekday night. Indoor and outdoor seating available. You might be lucky without reservations if you walk in on a weeknight, like we did. For busy times, make reservations, as the restaurant is definitely the nicest on in the touristy area of Pompano Beach. Dress up and enjoy the chic, elevated ambiance that makes you feel like royalty on vacation. All the cocktails were refreshing and strong. Very delicious: we tried all the most popular ones, and definitely enjoyed the craftsmanship that went into them. All the food was amazing and I definitely want to return to try more. Portions were massive, so come hungry! Half a Chicken in apricot glaze with tabouleh was divine, tender, and flavorful. Not your ol' rotisserie chicken. Such healthy dish too--you can enjoy without guilt. BBQ ribs were tasty too: fall off the bone, solid option. Thin fries were so light and non greasy, which I really appreciated. The coleslaw was a delicious crunchy treat. Would gladly return to try more on the menu and enjoy the atmosphere during the day!

Houston's is a must whenever you can find one! The dark mahogany wood interior and beamed ceilings make for an amazing dining room. Then to order... Ribs and Salads are the reason folks come here, topped with great customer service, unique and amazing drinks from the bar and fabulous desserts It's clearly a "10" in all aspects and we frequently visit this location several times when we're in the area Do yourself a favor and make reservations and go... You will be glad you did!! Bon Appetite!!

I just flew back to S. Florida and the first stop after dropping off the luggage was Houston's in Pompano Beach. Again, day or night, this restaurant is excellent. Alex was my server and she was "Houston's perfect". I can't say enough about the laid back yet upscale vibe they've created here. It's never pretentious but it's always elevated. That is the same description I would give the food, too. I had the fish sandwich again and it's just phenomenal. The fish is light and yet crispy. The house made bun is fluffy and delicious and their coleslaw is the best - creamy, crunchy and divine.

    Hawaiian Steak

Since there isn't a Houston's in my area anymore, I was excited to try their legendary Hawaiian steak. We ordered the Hawaiian steak entrée along with a crab cake entrée to create our own surf-and-turf combination. The steak was just okay. It had good flavor and was tender, but there were quite a few fatty pieces throughout. The loaded baked potato was as good as ever and ended up being my favorite part of the meal. The crab cakes were average--nicely golden and crisp on the outside with plenty of lump crab meat, but they could have used more seasoning. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, but the wait for outdoor seating was between 45 minutes and an hour. If you'd like to sit outside, I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. Overall, we had a nice dining experience. While the food didn't quite live up to my expectations, the atmosphere was pleasant and I'd be open to giving it another try.

    On Their Outside Dining.

It has been years, more than 9, since I ate at this Houston's, and they did not disappoint. I am used to eating at their Boca Raton location, about 10 minutes from our home. Returning home from an appointment in Ft. Lauderdale, we decided to stop here for an early lunch - 11:30 -- and to dine on their terrace, adjacent to the intracoastal. By 12:30, every table outside was occupied, and it was great to not have to wait for a table. Our server was Brooke, and she was outstanding. While formal in her demeanor, she was able to and did smile on many occasions. We received our Perriers icy cold and cappuccino very hot, as requested, and the food runners were efficient. My husband had the crispy chicken sandwich with well done fries, and it was humongous, and equally as tasty. Could only eat one half, and took the rest home. I had the veggie burger, and honestly, cannot recall the last time I had eaten one. To my surprise, it was delicious, and also huge. We started with their jumbo shrimp cocktail with home made sauces. The plate, with 5 very large shrimp, was delicious. Just cold enough, looking as fresh as one would want, and at $25, was well priced. The only problem for a serving of 5 shrimp between two people - - who gets the 5th one? Well, couples who share stay together longer, so that 5th shrimp was divided between us. It was served on top of butter lettuce, and I ate every piece, dipping in the sauces. Valet parking, no charge, as well as self parking. While many people include in their reviews that this is part of a chain, I don't see that as a negative. They give you a consistently well prepared meal, with ingredients fresh and prepared well. Servers are well trained, clean-looking (no one sweating into your food), so what's the big deal that this is a chain establishment. Will I return? Of course.

    Spinach and Artichoke Dip

My boyfriend and I recently dined here and were blown away. I have been hearing of Houston's / Hillstone for so long and needed to know if it was worth the hype. We had a Friday night reservation. There is complementary valet. When we arrived we just had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The place was packed! I highly recommend making a reservation. The space is large, but dimly lit which created a nice vibe. To start, we obviously started with the spinach and artichoke dip, which truly lived up to the hype. We doubted the amount of chips at first but it ended up being the perfect amount. Our server even offered extra chips but we declined. My boyfriend and I both chose the same entree which was the Hawaiian ribeye. The steak was cooked perfectly medium. It was buttery, delicious melt in your mouth perfection. The fries served with were light and crispy. For drinks, we got the jackrabbit, made with reposado tequila, Campari, grapefruit juice & mint, which we both really enjoyed. The service was fantastic & appropriately attentive. Overall 10/10 will return for sure!!

Delicious! Houston's is always a great spot! We sat outside with a nice view of the water. Our waitress was extremely attentive, gave great recommendations and made sure our drinks were never empty. The food is always delicious and never fails. The shrimp cocktail came with huge shrimp and were very fresh. Drinks were cold and refreshing. Overall great experience and always love visiting Houston's when in the area

We had a lunch reservation at Houston's and arrived with our family, including our 5-month-old baby. We were shocked to be told that they "do not allow strollers" anywhere inside or outside the restaurant. Our baby cannot sit on his own yet, so a stroller is absolutely necessary. We even tried to compromise and asked if we could sit in the bar area instead, but they still declined to accommodate us. As a result, we were completely turned away despite having a reservation. This restaurant is clearly not kid-friendly, and the lack of flexibility or empathy from the staff was extremely disappointing. Customer service like this is unacceptable, especially for families with infants. We won't be returning.

Ask the Community - Houston's Restaurant

    Is There a Houston's in Houston,Tx?

Lol, I have no idea, but I think not...50 50 chance I'm right, like weather forecast. Lol

What is the dress code to eat there, specifically if wanting to eat outside?

I would suggest smart casual as the best route. From their website. "Attire Standards: We consider hats, tank tops, flip flops, and team athletic attire too casual for our restaurant." They do have further guidelines posted as well.

Do you need to have a reservation to eat outside?

    No.

Do they allow service dogs? I can't eat without my hound dog

I've seen dogs on the outside seating area. I'm sure a service dog would be ok.

    No highchairs here?

Hi D L., we do not provide highchairs, but you are welcome to bring your own booster seat to the restaurant.

Why did they stop allowing boats to pull up to the dock?

Too many people were entering the restaurant in bathing suits and dock attire which isn't what that Houston's restaurant was looking for. It is more upscale attire than what most people wear while relaxing on a boat all day.

Fast forward to today, and it's a completely different story. Everything we ordered was outstanding. The steaks were massive, juicy, and cooked to perfection, easily some of the best I've had anywhere, and I've paid top dollar at high-end steakhouses. The Hawaiian ribeye, in particular, was incredible, tender & juicy. The wings were huge and packed with flavor, honestly some of the best wings I could ask for. They've also stepped up their starters. The new bread with honey butter is insanely good, and the avocado eggrolls with tamarind sauce are absolutely next level. I added on the crab cake which is of insane quality, big lump pieces, it's actually hard to find breading. Service was just as impressive, attentive, smooth, and genuinely welcoming. I even had the chance to speak with the manager, Dani, who explained they made a major shift away from distributors that were hurting their quality. They went back to basics, focused on what made them great in the first place, and it shows in every bite. This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time, across any cuisine. J. Mark's is back, and better than ever.

The location is lovely, overlooking the ocean. If it were cooler a patio spot would have definitely added to the experience. First, I need to be an old lady for two things: 1. The super tiny font on the menu. I could make out the menu item name but reading the fine print of the description was damned near impossible. While the ambiance-lighting may have contributed to the difficulty, I feel like they could have chosen a better, and bigger, font. 2. Noise level - it was awful. I will *never* understand why restaurant decorators fail to address a noise level. It was awful. We were with my elderly Aunt and WE were having difficulties, so I know she was. All three of us have been in the restaurant business and that was quite literally the first thing we commented on when we sat down. That aside our experience was terrific. The area where this is located is nice, shared parking nearby, and a number of places to walk by and look in or eat at (we did not do that ourselves). We did not make reservations and didn't have to wait too long for a table (it was summer, so I'd suggest reservations during the cooler months). Our waiter was Ariel and he was fantastic. I have a couple of food issues that helped me to make sure that I was able to work around. I ended out getting the Shrimp & Grits without the ham and it was super good. It was a little too much creole sauce for me, but still tasty. The portion was plentiful. One of my dining partners received a dish that I believe was also creole spiced and it was too spicey for her. Ariel helped her find something else to eat and took care of it immediately. Because of my delay, I totally forgot what my third dining partner ordered but she was pleased with her dish. (she was the repeat visitor, so I *know* she enjoys the place. Even though the noise level was dreadful during our entire visit, our visit was a good one. Thank you for reading my review.
