    Chocolate cream pie!
    Tanya G.

We only had pie and coffee. The pie was extraordinary, the coffee tasted burned, unfortunately. Wonderful friendly service, both the host and the server. They are closed between Thanksgiving and February. We will be back next year to try some entrees. It's a very cozy place, I love the booths.

A quick review. This place is super cute with the small town Western feel. The server was really nice. We had the nachos, chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken breast. They give free warm rolls before the meal. Everything was really good!!

Dinner salads with 1000 Island dressing yum!!

Smack dab in the middle of Kanab in a rustic building, lies this great find. We were HANGRY after hiking all day, this place and menu looked fitting. Come to find out upon entering and being greeted by the hostess....THEY HAD PRIME RIB ON SPECIAL! Yeehaw, that is my wife's favorite, so it was on. We were promptly greeted and given a run down about available drink options. Too bad the server did not mention they had alcohol, but she was obviously bee to the job and a Pepsi x3 did me just fine. I had honestly never tried a chicken fried steak, I know...pathetic. This place had it highlighted, so today was the day! We chose dinner salads with 1000 Island dressing and licked the bowls. My CFS came with a loaded baked potato and gravy on the side. It was as good as advertised and the prime rib special was a knockout, with mashed potatoes and gravy on the side. 5 stars for the food, 4 on the service, thanks for the hearty meal!

Daily special prime rib sandwich with cheese, au jus, brown gravy and horseradish.

Quick pit stop for lunch while driving between National Parks. Service was excellent (thanks Allie-Jo!), had our soda's before I could put my readers on LoL! Had the hot roast beef sandwich and the daily special prime rib sandwich. Both were served quick, hot and were very flavor. Came with gravy and au jus respectively, and AJ brought us both for each dish, along with a great homemade fresh horseradish. fries were crispy just the way my wife prefers. Value for money was 5/5. Would highly recommend.

After searching yelp for a place that everyone said was good and didn't break the bank we decided to give this place a try. Man am I glad we did. I ordered the USDA hamburger steam with grilled onions. I left off the mushrooms because I don't eat fungus. The wife ordered the famous chicken fried steak. So I usually ask for ketchup and smother it because my mom's was not good and I found a love of ketchup. Anyway after the first bite I was amazed at the flavor of the gravy so ended not needing the ketchup. They also have these huge rolls that I used to sop up the gravy it was that good. The wife really liked the chicken fried steak but said the meat was a bit tough. The service was outstanding and just the right amount of attention. It has an old western theme which fit in with the food well. I would recommend this place for a good reasonable prices.

After a day of hiking we stopped here for dinner. As usual in every eatery we've been to on this trip, the servers are very professional and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant. The food is fresh and tasty. My side veggies were very good and was my husbands steak. The steak was tender and flavorful. My burger was just ok but all the extras; lettuce, tomatoes and pickles were what made it good. Server was nice and attentive.

From its western theme and menu to its buzzing neon sign out front, Houston's Trail's End Restaurant is pure Americana. American as American can be. On the inside, you'll find more of the same. The restaurant is staffed by a crew of some of the most wholesome, and, I say so blushingly, pretty servers this side of the Mississippi. Smiling representatives who make the great state of Utah proud, and us hungry travelers, happy. I visited in the early evening for dinner. I immediately happened upon an item that was highlighted in a box at the top of the menu. The Chicken Fried Steak. It's their #1 seller, and for good reason. At least one in your party should try the Chicken Fried Steak. Maybe you who are reading this tripe? By the way, I don't know if they actually serve tripe, but if they do, it wouldn't be on my plate. I wouldn't be able to stomach it. The chicken fried steak is authenticly delicious. Perfect seasoning, perfectly breaded, and the gravy topper is the icing on the perfect portion. It's accompanied by two sides of your choice. I chose a baked potato and salad (get the honey mustard dressing, it's tangy good). You'll also get a dinner roll. Warm and fluffy. A complete meal. Just like you'd find on a chuck wagon, but without the dust and chaw splatter. If their #1 seller is this good, I'm sure #2 isn't far behind.....nope, I don't think that I'll joke in that direction. Where I will go, is back to Trail's End next time I'm in the great western town of Kanab. Quick Tip: For dessert, they have an assortment of pies. Save room for a slice. Of course, I didn't save room. I did, however, have room for a cookie. It was from a batch that my ex-wife sent me on the road with. We may not be married anymore, but we're cookie friends.....and that's a benefit!

    Nycole R.

Everyone talked about the pie, and I foolishly did not save room after dinner, so I missed out on trying it. I'll have to come back another time and redeem myself there. What I did eat was the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. It was heavy, stick-to-your ribs country cooking and I left satisfied, even though the diet was out the door. Service was friendly and the ambience is very country. It's a fun place to grab a meal and I'm still kicking myself for skipping the pie.

Service was pleasant and friendly. Party of four. Three ordered the roast beef dip and I ordered a patty melt. Tasty and we were hungry. We were full but treated ourselves to some delicious chocolate cream pie with chocolate, whipped cream, topping and I had a RazzleBerry pie, both were exceptionally delicious.

The food was great, the service was great, and it wasn't too loud or crowded! Photo is of ground round (no mushrooms).

This place is cozy and very welcoming and the service is superb. Country Fried Steak did not disappoint. The shrimp and roast beef items were excellent as well.

That's basically what happened here, except instead of chocolate and peanut butter, it was an art gallery and a gastropub. Somehow it works. The vibe here is funky in mostly the right ways. The decor has a yard sale chic aesthetic that's somehow carefully curated without looking like it tried too hard. The staff had just enough piercings and tattoos for me know they would love to talk to me about their record collections if I asked, and the whole place manages to feel both laid back and just upscale enough that you can justify ordering anything from a burger to what looked like a pretty respectable ribeye. I went with the Shroom, a portobello mushroom burger, and it was enjoyable. Tons of flavor, perfectly satisfying, and paired with one of the crispest side salads I've had in a while. Bonus points for the edamame. I will happily eat edamame in just about anything. Not with jello though. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals, although we collectively demonstrated the adventurous spirit of a group that mostly ordered the Pub burger. So I can't claim we've fully explored the menu yet. This just gives me an excuse to come back. Service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The only moment that caught me a little off guard was when the owner stopped by to let us know he had baseball cards for sale in one part of the restaurant, along with an upstairs gallery featuring local artwork. I felt like he might next open his coat to show me some watches. He's just down for the hustle I guess. The art ranged from "that's pretty nice" to "someone really, really loves painting Utah's red rocks." Most of it was priced well beyond what I was looking to take home, but honestly, I have to respect that they're giving local artists a place to showcase their work. So maybe I'm just being a little grumpy. Get off my lawn. By the way I'd be happy to eat here again

A delightful encounter in Kanab, the small town along the way on our road trip to Salt Lake City. A…read morewonderful meal. Pistachio Chicken: The chicken breast was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a thin, crispy crust that was especially impressive. The sauce blended the mild aroma of Poblano chili, the creamy richness of butter, and the unique fragrance of herbs. Most precious was the pistachio aroma, both vibrant and subtle, without overpowering or masking the other flavors, creating a delicate balance. Even the saltiness was just right, subtle and delicate. The surface was garnished with pico de gallo, fresh, sweet, tangy, and spicy, balancing the potential heaviness of the sauce. The asparaguses were also very fresh, with a natural fragrance, but perhaps a little too mild with the sauce. Kanab Cowboy Ribs: The pork ribs were slow-cooked and roasted until they were so tender that they easily fell off the bone, offering no resistance when cutting into them. The homemade barbecue sauce coated it thickly, rich and sweet, with an authentic American barbecue flavor. It might be a bit too sweet for most Chinese palates, but I thought it was quite good. The agave mustard vinaigrette seemed more decorative; I nearly couldn't really taste it. Lemon Sorbet: Homemade sorbet, offering the most soulful finish. It was breathtakingly beautiful at first glance; the simple white porcelain plate and glass were limpid and elegant, perfectly matching the sorbet's style. Unlike typical sorbets that emphasize extreme acidity, this restaurant took a different approach, with a gentle, even subtle, acidity that brings out the natural, lively fragrance of lemon, like Lolita's touch through pale silk. The texture was also delicate and smooth, without any ice crystals. Everyone was captivated; some even ordered an extra to take away. The restaurant claims that ingredients come from its organic garden. This might be a pointless gimmick, but the cooking and presentation of the dishes conveyed a consistent level of refinement and care, making it all the more valuable.

From the outside, the restaurant looks like a 'sit down and be served' place, however, it is ran like a fast food restaurant. Whereas, you go up and order at the counter, and the very busy cashier, server, order taker, takes your money, and eventually will bring your food out. We lucked out and there was no one at the counter when we walked in. However, by the time we left, there was a long line waiting to order, probably about 20 minutes just to order. I only saw one cook in the back, but there may have been someone else. The food was remarkably very good. Also, this is Utah, so expect the 'third degree' and a caution to not take your beer outside should you choose to have a beer with your dinner. They ID everyone if you order a beer. You have to do your own bussing, and be prepared to sit down at a table that has not been wiped down. They need a larger staff in my view. I will probably not return as Kanab as several other options for dinning.
