Its FUK U FRI!!!!! I special ordered a washing machine 6 weeks ago. It didn't arrive so I physically went to the store to find out the status. The guy I spoke to said special orders were taking 8-12 weeks, so be patient. I went online on 12/5/25 to see if Howards was still locally based. What I found out is that S5, a Newport Beach based private equity firm bought Howards in April, 2025. I also found in the OC Register that Howards laid off its employees on 12/4/25, and closed operations: WTF?!?!?!?!?! I immediately disputed the charge with my credit card company. I am not going to pay for something I did not receive. Its not the consumer's fault the private equity firm appears to not have done its homework, and now has to close a local business founded in 1946 down. read more

Dryer went out and needed new washer & dryer set right away. Going almost nightly to the laundromat to dry loads is a big motivator to find something quick. I found an set on sale at Best Buy, but the holiday deal wasn't great and the wait time was over a month! I looked all over town & online and decided to try Howard's, too. They had one of the sets I was looking for at an amazing price with the holiday sale & rebates. I really should have come here first! David A. and Carlos were very helpful on my 2 visits before buying and were very knowledgeable about all the brands and features. That's very helpful when trying to pick the right brand. While Howards sells high volume, the delivery time was much shorter time frame than expected for this popular LG set. When the items were delivered, the workers were extremely careful with installation and both the new set was in mint condition. I'm thrilled with the new LG set and the deal I got at Howard's and appreciate the excellent customer service David A., Carlos and the two delivery men provided. 5 Stars! read more

Store had a decent selection of refrigerators. We needed one ASAP and were told over the phone that they could deliver the next day. When we arrived, we were then informed that the earliest delivery date was now Monday. We still decided to look around. The lady was a bit judgy because we wanted to stick to a budget. Even if I wanted to buy my refrigerator from here (I had a positive experience when I bought my mattress from their Long Beach branch), I decided to give my business elsewhere. read more

I needed to purchase a new washer and dryer ASAP. I had decided on the LG brand, based on reviews and recommendations. I decided to go to Howard's Huntington beach as I had purchased a refigerator there and was pleased with the service,etc. My sales person this time was Diane Dao and she was very informative and helpful. She showed me the price differential between the lowest and highest priced set. She explained about rebates and gave me all the paperwork I would need for this. She was great. I will certainly revisit Howard's in future as their prices, selection and services are very good. Installation cost only $20 and delivery was free. Very painless and smooth experience! read more

I spoke with Diane Dao last week and she was very pleasant and helpful. After making my decision I went back to place an order. I asked for Diane and was told she would be in soon. When I told Ben I wanted to place a order while Ben spoke with a customer. When Ben was finished he sat down and started browsing his computer. He told the next employee I was waiting for Diane, I told the employee I wanted to place an order and I didn't care who did it.... I was told to collect my things and go to this guy. I did and the man looked up my request and told me I would have to wait 6 weeks. I told him it wasn't going to work for me and I got up to leave. The fool then followed me out asking if I had a problem. I told him I was tired of them wasting my time. It was unpleasant. So much for huge stock and selections. After purchasing a dryer in June, it went great, until delivery! The Technicians delivering it did not make sure it had heat, had GE out and said it was Howard's Technicians, so back to Howard's I go and they didn't take the blame until 4 months later, wouldn't return phone calls until I got Better Business Bureau involved! 4 long months going back and forth! They finally just gave me a new dryer and offered me a refund, I also found out I didn't have a warranty with GE that I paid 200 dollars for! They reneged on the refund, finally got my warranty after 7 months, NOBODY AT CORPORATE TO HELP! NIGHT MARE! read more

I had a 6 year appliance warranty on my washer/dryer set. Four months before it expired I had some problems with the dryer belt making whistling sounds. When the tech came out in Jan he didn't hear the sounds so didn't change out the belt. It would do it off and on for periods of time. My 6 year policy expired on 5/27. On 6/1, on the weekend of course it makes non stop sounds. I called them and they will not honor an on going problem. I have purchased many appliances from Howard's for over 30 years. I have no intention of ever purchasing another appliance from them again, let alone any extended warranty. Not good business. read more

I ordered and paid for a full kitchen of appliances. Thermador was the brand. Some of the appliances were delivered after a 4 month wait. A little long but they're installed. All except for the refrigerator. We've now been waiting for 8 months for the fridge. I understand that Thermador has even discontinued the model I ordered - (although the discontinued model is still on display in Howard's across Southern California). I have been calling at least once a week for the last four months. The store manager has changed locations, so they have passed me along. They have made numerous promises they haven't kept. And when I tried to cancel the order to go buy the fridge from Reece or Pacific sales, they told me that they'll give me $1150 back for a refrigerator for which I paid $12,000. So, I still waiting... So my advice to any shoppers out there, running as fast as you can away from Howard's. Don't become a victim like I did. read more

I found the exact one I liked and Diane made sure that I received every rebate that was possible and called me to make sure I was comfortable with delivery date and time. I purchased 3 items (sale requirement) at the Howards in Covina, Ca. received my oven a few weeks later. My stove top was not available until Aug. so I waited on sending my rebate thinking there might be problems due to shortages. Bad idea on my part as now I am out of the time frame for receiving my rebate as they use an out side company to handle such promotions. I honestly thought I was avoiding a problem and now I have lost my total rebate. When I spoke to my sales person and another sales person they both said they would see what they could do and neither one ever called me back. Live and Learn and do not buy from Howard's. The return policy is garbage. Ordered a fridge and the sales guy was nice don't wanna say his name but he sold me a fridge they didn't have. Fridge showed up and wasn't the fridge I thought we agreed upon. Don't ever go to Howard's unless your certain they have the unit you want. If you return anything it's 25% stocking fee. We came to Howard's when our washing machine died and the staff there was totally UPFRONT with us that there are supply-chain issues. We had already shopped Lowe's, Home Depot, Pacific Sales and. Best Buy. Yes, we were told it would be "at least" a month's wait for our LG washer. After a month we were told it would be 4 more weeks wait. Being reasonable people with a clear understanding of the issues with supply chain we knew it wasn't Howard's fault--they were in the same predicament. Our delivery took place 4 weeks TO THE DAY!! We worked primarily with Carl and Vincent but we found everyone at Howard's to be knowledgeable, personable and up front with the issues. Also, the delivery men Jacob and Louis were polite, courteous and on time. They did a flawless 2nd floor delivery and hall-away. We just today returned to Howard's and bought a Bosh dishwasher. Delivery time unknown--could be up to 12 months. It's a pleasure to do business with these professionals! read more

We were remodeling our kitchen and ended up purchasing our major appliances at Howard's. Jesus (aka JR) was fantastic! He addressed all our questions and helped us with a deal to fit our budget. We ran into delays with the remodel and had to push the delivery date multiple times. JR went above and beyond following up with us & confirming every time that the scheduled date met our needs. There was a minor issue with the microwave, so we reached out to JR to find who to contact & he went out of his way to contact the manufacturer on our behalf & they came out within a few days to fix it. What a scam and bait and switch.... DO NOT EVER SHOP HERE or at any Howards. They ran an ad for a Bosch series 300 dishwasher for $799.... Except guess what, not only do they not have ANY, they are not even available for order, and they can't tell you when they will be able to get one.... WTF kind of place does that unless they are just underhanded and engaging in false advertising and shady business practices.... If they do this, what else are they doing???? read more

I just had the nicest thing happen. I had just purchased a very large and heavy outdoor umbrella for our patio. I was just dragging it out of my Tahoe, wondering how in the heck I was going to move this to the patio. Literally, at that same time a large yellow Howard's Appliance Truck pulled around our corner. They stopped by my driveway and yelled out "can we help you sir?" I was taken by surprise and could not believe they just offered to move this very heavy carton for me. They didn't hesitate, didn't suggest any fee for the help and just grabbed the carton out of my truck and carried it to the patio. Never did they ask for anything except offering a kindness to this senior. I didn't get their names, they just said God Bless and went on their way. What a nice turn of events in a world of so much anxiety and safety concerns.
