Since then, I've hired them many times for a range of repair jobs; and been pleased every time. The most important aspect of any plumbing job is the competence and experience of the individuals assigned to do the work. HR Silicon Valley Plumbing shines in this regard ... and does so at all levels, from the owner Henry Rivera (the "HR" in the company name) down to his crew. They've never let me down. They're also responsive. A couple of minor hiccups (small defective parts) occurred on two jobs, and Henry or his crew came out promptly to replace the part, and all was good after that. Simply contact them, and you'll receive a quick return call or text to schedule prompt service. The cost of services rendered is always important. As other reviewers have noted, the company isn't the cheapest ... but, on the other hand, isn't the most expensive either. While it's always great to save money, value is more important than the actual cost -- considering that a functional plumbing system is one of the most essential components of any home. HR Silicon Valley offers great value for the quality of their services. I like the company's pricing model -- by the job, rather than by the hour. The total cost is disclosed up front. There's an incentive for them to get the job done right the first time, since they can't charge extra for shoddy work that they'd need to return later to remedy, on their own dime. Another thing I like is the their communications with customers on the day of the job. For example, if they're running behind on a job that's ahead of yours, they'll text you. They won't keep you guessing as many plumbers do. They also routinely text you when they're on the way to the job site. A few other practices/services that I appreciate: workers wearing shoe coverings in the home, Henry providing free estimates of preventive services like replacing drain piping (like in the crawl space) that is approaching its useful life, discounting larger jobs when combined and done concurrently, and securing all necessary permits from the City of San Jose. The icing on the cake is that Henry and his crew are respectful, pleasant, and down to earth. It's worth noting that HR Silicon Valley Plumbers is a state-licensed plumbing contractor. As such, it's bonded, carries worker's compensation insurance, and is legally allowed to contract for jobs of any size -- from small repairs to major plumbing improvements. On the other hand, many plumbers aren't state licensed and can't legally contract for jobs $500 or more. Buyer beware. read more

They were not the cheapest but based on Yelp/Google reviews and in general how Henry approached the project, I went with the company. It was the right choice. I got scheduled for installation few days out, I was informed that the lead time was few days at least. An earlier opening became available and I was able to get the work done early. I used the service to install a new toilet. The Home Depot store recomended several service peoviders. We randomly chose HR Silicon Valley Plumbers. Their quality of work was bad. They improperly installed the toilet. That caused odor in our bathroom. After some back and forth over the phone, they had to reinstall the toilet completely. The owner, Henry came out the next day after I had called for an estimate. Henry went over the work that was needed and did some preliminary work prior to Jessie arriving who finished the job. As a retired Building Inspector I found that HR Silicon Valley Plumbing goes above the requirements of the California Plumbing Code. We had our water heater go out and I got a few folks who called to give us quotes. Henry the owner called and walked me through what the work entailed. Not only did he explain the work but also explained the value of getting it inspected. He was able to get me up to speed with what I should expect from any plumbers who would come out and things required to meet code. This helped gauge if the other companies where doing the right thing or where just doing a quick job. Swapping a water heater can be cheap, but doing it right and getting it up to code is important because I don't want reoccurring issues. While HR Silicon Valley wasn't the cheapest, they were also not the most expensive. The difference in the level of work was clear though. Henry has a high standard and the fact that getting things up to code + inspection is the start made me feel like they were the right company. Abel came out and was extremely professional. He was able to show up to the job early which was great. He explained what the course of action was and after agreeing, he got to work. Our setup was particularly difficult but Abel got everything setup and up to code. A few days later he was present to get his work signed off by an inspector. Home Depot sold me garbage disposals that didn't work, which meant Jordan and Henry (separately) had to remove and install three garbage disposals. The first night we discovered the new disposal had burnt coils, Henry just bumped up the original quote for his need to uninstall and start again the next day. Jordan, too, discovered the second new disposal didn't work, and Henry insisted he exchange it in order to get it done that night. This is actually one review for two fantastic jobs that HR Silicon Valley Plumbers have done for us in April and May, respectively. First job was installing a new Smart Toilet and moving one existing toilet to another bathroom. Henry and his crew showed up on time with all the preparations - coverage for our hardwood floors all the way from the bathrooms to the entrance, shoe covers, etc - and got the job done within two hours. SCAMMERS!!! SCAMMERS!!! SCAMMERS!!! OMG! Do not use these guys! They came out to hook my up dishwasher & install a sink. TheY FLOODED MY KITCHEN THREE TIMES! They would supposedly finish the job and the next day something would be leaking. I paid them over $1500 for INCOMPETENCE. In fact, I had someone come out to access my flooring and it was soaked full of water underneath the floor. They also partially flooded my garage and told me it was the washer hook up and it would cost me over $1000 to redo the plumbing. It WAS NOT the washer plumbing, it was their incompetence that was not even related to my washer and they were trying to SCAM me. The damage was that my wall, floor and cupboards were soaked and need to be removed. These guys are totally incompetent and never apologized for anything. AND HAD THE NERVE TO BILL ME! I was so stupid I PAID them. I will never get my money back. AND ....saga continues, they were suppose to hook up my gas line to my new stove. They said they had to "check for gas leaks in the pipeline due to federal regulations". Upon assessment, they told me I had a gas leak and that it "was not that bad". REALLY? A gas leak that was "not that bad"??? THEN they wanted me to sign a contract for repairing the gas line and hooking up my stove for approximately $1200!! really?!! I called PG&E they told me that for FREE they would immediately come out because there was a gas leak. PG&E was at my house in 15 minutes, and tested for leaks, thank you PG&E. AND THERE WERE NONE! Im so glad I didn't sign the contract with the HR Silicon Valley Plumbers for $1200. The PGE guy was furious with the plumbers that were at my house when he came out. and because it was the day before Xmas, he was so nice (Erin) he hooked up my stove for free!!!! yes FREE!!! Thank you Erin and PG&E! First of all, there are NO FED REGULATIONS stating plumbers need to inspect my gas lines and second of all THERE WERE NO GAS LEAKS! These bozos flooded my kitchen and screwed up plumbing under my sink. I was even so stupid as to give them Xmas cookies when they were here...Do not mix these guys up with Silicon Valley Plumbing in San Jose. Hired them to replace an ancient mess of iron pipes in a section of my house. Their quote was a bit higher but they had a more thorough check that I trusted more. Work progressed as expected and they were a pleasure to work with. It's brutal work in a tiny crawlspace yet they keep level heads. Plumbing was usable at the end of each day. They filed permits and passed inspection. Maybe I'm being mean, but -1 star for some rushed cleanup at the end of the day. My bathroom almost flooded and I spent more time than expected cleaning up dust, toilet seal wax, and shattered iron. I'd hire them again. NEVER USE HR Silicon Valley Plumbers--they did a SMALL plumbing repair for me. I then had problems with my sewer line and asked them if they could repair it. They returned and literally traumatized me. The sewer line was in need of immediate repair, and I trusted them from the last small job they did earlier. They shot water down the line, then used a camera to show me there was water in the line...I questioned them---"Of course there's water, you just shot gallons of water into the sewer line." They insisted the water was already there but wasn't able to show me proof when I asked for it (my insurance carrier told me, if your sewer line is under water and they used a camera, they should be able to show you proof). I guess they figured they had a 'stupid, vulnerable customer'. The camera and water they shot down the line was NEVER pre-approved or QUOTED. What they did quote was an astronomical amount of money to repair the sewer line. $50,000 to $60,000 and said, "But it'll be just like having a new home" We'll have to jack-hammer your patio and tear up the cement, dig up your backyard and dig up your floors in your house to get to the sewer line and replace it....I was traumatized!! and scared and literally trembling--my blood pressure was through the roof. Then they shoved a piece of paper in my face saying I could get the charges financed. Luckily, I had the wherewithal to call my son. They feed him the same cock-and-bull story; he asked them a lot of details about the quote they gave me, said 'thank you we'll call you back if we decide to use you.' We used another plumbing service with an impeccable reputation, that has done work in San Jose for more than 20 years. The repair was less than $5,000, they located the damage to the sewer line in the front yard, and only excavated a six-foot hole in the front yard. And guess what, there was NEVER any Standing Water in the line!! HR Silicon Valley Plumbers are "SCHIESTERS" who prey on vulnerable people in order to pump up their prices!!
