Chose this place on a whim for a birthday dinner, at first it was because of the ambiance but then I found out that if it's your birthday you get a free surf & turf entree! The only caveat is it's dine-in only, after 4 PM, and you need to show your ID. Booking a reservation was easy using OpenTable and we booked on a Saturday night at 7 PM for four people. Just be warned that since it is in Redondo Beach and on the restaurant block, parking can be difficult to find depending on what time you go. We couldn't find parking and eventually gave in to the $7 valet parking. The restaurant was busy, but it only took a few minutes for us to get seated to our table. For appetizers, we got the brussel sprouts and the spinach & artichoke dip to share. There was complimentary bread that was warm and fresh and came with softened butter and this herby olive oil. The brussel sprouts were crispy and a little sweet from the balsamic glaze and the spinach dip was creamy and had good chunks of artichoke in it. For my entree, I got the short rib with mashed potatoes and broccoli (the menu said broccolini but it was just regular broccoli). The short rib was tender enough that I didn't have to use a knife but the mashed potatoes tasted a bit over mashed. Another person in my party got the margherita pizza as her entree and it was cheesy and the crust was light and crispy. The person that got the surf & turf was satisfied with how the dish came out and the steak was cooked per request. For dessert, we got the creme brûlée cheesecake to share and the slice they gave us was huge! Overall, the service and food were great. Just the birthday deal alone is a good enough reason to try this place but I would come back to try their other dishes too! read more

This would be a 1 or 2 but I have generally had great service and experience. So here is the good. The Mac and Cheese is great. Food has always been great. The place is great to sit outside and enjoy. So hopefully this is just a one and done situation. Bad. Today I came in with one other and we ordered Mac and Cheese, a chicken sandwhich and a burger. The place wasn't crowded. Well it took over 40 minutes to get our meal. We did get our Mac appetizer and then we never saw our for 24 minutes after the appetizer. The burger was wrong but since we knew how long the wait was going to be she just ate it. The problem is the only time we saw server was when she brought our food. The other server (not bus boy) filled our water. So we didn't even have a chance to have them refire the burger anyways. Hope it gets better as I am a 20% plus tipper but this service does not warrant that tip. And this is where the tipping culture and how servers think is a problem. I will say the other server fought us our check and took the wrong burger off the bill so it was at least done correctly. And there was. In confrontation or anger. Just told him burger was wrong and we didn't see anyone to be able to fix it. He still offered to fix it. So again hoping our server was just having an off day. Time will tell! read more

Most of our visits here were a 5 rating...except for last Sunday around 11am. Coffee was served cold, had to wait. Food consisting of eggs, bacon, sausage and potatoes were served cold, had to wait. Had to ask twice for water and salt and pepper. Place was not that busy. Once everything was heated and brought to the table, everything was good. Not only is this one of our very favorite spots on the planet, the food is becoming better and better every day thanks to the chef, Eddie! We went in the day before Saint Paddy's day and had their corned beef prefix menu. The corned beef was delicious and the carrots were cooked perfectly with lots of flavor, but my favorite part was the lamb stew! It was a clear broth absolutely delicious and reduced to perfection! This place never fails our expectations! We will forever be regular patrons there ...and thank you again to the chef for making our meals exemplary of what delicious dining should be! read more

We've been to HT Grill for drinks and always enjoyed it, so we came for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday and try their birthday promotion. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. It took about 15 minutes for our server, Krystal, to greet us, and although we mentioned the birthday, there was no acknowledgment. After ordering, another 15 minutes passed without waters, beverages, or even place settings. Our appetizer arrived, but I had to go inside to request napkins and silverware, and it began to feel like we were forgotten. Our server never checked back in, we weren't offered additional drinks, and our glasses stayed empty. After finishing, we waited 20 minutes to get the bill, and when it was dropped off, she walked away before I could hand my card. After another 10 minutes, I had to go inside again to complete payment. I understand things can get busy, but the restaurant didn't seem overwhelmed. For a birthday dinner, we expected at least basic attentiveness or an apology, neither of which we received. Overall, a frustrating experience. read more

I can't find anything wrong with this place. That's why I'm giving them 5 stars. It's a cute restaurant with lots of seating both indoors and outdoors. The bathroom is clean. The service was excellent (thanks to Brian) Plus they use real plates and dinnerware. My husband and I both had the mahi-mahi sandwich with fries. We asked for the mahi to be blackened and I asked for the fries to be crispy. The presentation is also really good! My family visited HT Grill on my birthday so I could receive the complimentary surf & turf dinner which was my first time. Our service was amazing, Ella G was our friendly happy server. We used to come here at least once a week - but lately with food quality has gone down a bit, guess why they need to make their drinks so strong, but the real disappointment is the service is terrible. Long waits for simple requests ( like water) and the servers don't seem to know the menu at all. Excuses for why item came out completely wrong and no sense of urgency to fix problem. My husband and I have had lunch at H. T. Grill in Redondo Beach a couple of times. It's very enjoyable sitting outside in the patio. They also have inside dining. My husband has ordered the beef birria tacos (3) and pepper roasted USDA prime rib dip sandwich with fries. Loved both of them. I have ordered the Mahi Mahi fish sandwich with fries and the rockfish tacos (3). Loved the Mahi Mahi sandwich but didn't like the rockfish tacos. The tacos had a thick batter and were fried. I prefer grilled fish tacos. I asked the server if they could grill the fish next time. She checked and said yes. So if you prefer crispy fried fish tacos then you'll love the rockfish tacos. If you would rather have a healthier alternative you can ask them to grill the fish. Check out their website for wine and dinner specials. I went here for my birthday as I heard about their surf & turf free dinner on your actual birthday. I had planned to sit inside but the band was SO loud you couldn't have a conversation with your party. The inside smelled of stale beer everywhere so we decided to sit outside which was no special ambience. The food was very good and service was good but 2x waiters spilt trays of drinks near us! I Came in for Easter brunch on Sunday. We were in a private room that was beautifully decorated. I really enjoyed our experience because it felt private and was not over crowded or loud. The stuffing/dressing was weird. Not sure what it was but I didn't care for it. The green beans and zucchini were grilled I think and had a very fresh flavor. Our server was Ian and he was charming. We asked for our pumpkin pie to go and it had no whipped cream. Next time I will ask to be seated in either the main restaurant or outside as the room we dined in was extremely loud. The service was extremely slow for a light crowd at lunchtime. There were four adults and 2 children (4 & 8). Our daughter and son-in- law come for dinner all the time and rave about it. Unfortunately, we will not be returning for brunch as the food was just okay in our opinion and the four year old's child's pizza took over an hour and a half to come and ended up boxed to go as everyone else had finished their meals at least 15 minutes before. The 8 year old had the best meal of a half pound burger. My husband and I each had a French onion soup which was nothing special and then we shared their CBLAT sandwich with fries. It was okay but again nothing special. Our daughter had the Cobb salad which she said was a normal salad. Can't remember what our son in law had but he wasn't impressed either. Our whole party will limit ourselves to dinner time in the future which numerous people we know have raved about.
