Hub Thai was a nice little stop off in east village for a quick bite before the rest of the night. I wouldn't say it's typical of most trendy Thai restaurants in NYC, but it was quick and convenient and had great service at a very affordable price. The restaurant although very tiny, was able to easily accommodate our large party as a walk-in group. Unfortunately it was a bit drafty inside because the door kept flying open and there was no one really working in the front of the restaurant to keep it closed, so we all ate dinner with our parkas on the whole meal. The menu options are a bit limited, especially for alcohol, but there's enough on there to have a decent selection of apps and noodle dishes. The food was tasty and the portions are appropriately sized for the price. For locals, it's not a bad option to pop in and avoid some of the more crowded, touristy destinations in the area. But for those visiting the city, I would not recommend if you were looking for somewhere upscale, trendy or fancy for an exciting night out. read more

Pad See Ew (4/5): Perfectly cooked noodles, good flavor - could be even more garlicky but that's just because I love that flavor. Not too oily and good sauce-to-dish ratio. The beef was tough so -1. Otherwise this is fantastic! Tom Ka Soup (5/5): Soooo creamy and delish! Mushroom was great, and added chicken was fairly tender for white meat. Definitely recommend. House Soup (4/5): Very good for a basic clear soup. Could have some more flavor but good if you need a light clear brothy soup that's light on your stomach. TL;DR: A good local Thai place. Came in on a Wednesday night after being told Miss lily next door was full. Hub Thai had plenty of seating and we were served right away. Overall service was good, and I was happy with our dishes. Hub Thai is a block from my apartment and it's gotten good reviews, so I'll give them another chance after being served a meat salad that was too tough to chew. I ate the salad and left most of the meat, explaining to the waitress the meat was tough. I thought I had already reviewed this place, but apparently not. Time to fix that. I used to come here with a friend for their lunch specials when I lived in New York. Excellent pricing for that, especially for Manhattan - you got an entree and an appetizer for around $8-$9. I usually got one of their variations of fried rice, bit also tried their drunken noodles and curry - good stuff. Big portion sizes if you have a big stomach or want more for later, and the appetizers are great. They'd come before the entree, and I'd get either the rolls or shumai. I had tried a couple of other Thai places as my friend loves Thai food, but this became our go to for a reason. The one fatal error I made once was getting their Thai iced tea - halfway into the drink, I remembered it has caffeine, and as someone who consumes little to no caffeine, it meant I'd be up most of the night. I was just glad the tea was very tasty. If they ever want to move out of Manhattan and come to my new neighborhood, they would be more than welcome. read more

So I think this might be my favorite Thai restaurant. I stopped in during their lunch special hours but opted to get a regular size entree. First, the staff. Super friendly definitely sincere . I totally felt welcomed and believe it or not I actually smiled back. Second, the FOOD is freaking amazing. I had pineapple fried rice, it was so good. The combination of the flavors worked. Also the portion size perfect. I had enough to take home. Third, the Thai iced tea is phenomenal. I ask for mine with a little ice and it was so good. That I had to try to remind myself not to down it in one sip. Overall, they deserve the five stars. The thai iced tea was huge!!! They gave us two small cups to share and we must have refilled at least 2-3 times each. It wasn't too sweet, which was just the right amount of condensed milk. Hub Thai was awesome. From the outside its not too appealing but the food, service, and price is the reason this place gets 5 stars. The inside is really small and cramped, but that's kinda expected from any place in New York City. I ordered cashew chicken and my friend had the Thai fried rice with shrimp. The food was served quicky, large portion and was hot. The Thai tea is my favorite, whenever I eat Thai, I must have Thai tea lol. Appetizers, entree's, and drinks came up to $60. Can't beat that price for good food and great service. Definitely try this place if you're in the neighborhood, don't let the outside fool you. They have 2 drunken noddle. There is a drunken noddle in lunch menu which is small size . There is also another drunken noodle in dinner menu which they said big portion . I ordered drunken noodle in dinner menu but it came small portion and I did not feel full after finish and I shared the waitress than I ordered spring rolls which was so oily. They full charged from me even I told them that it was a small portion. I am sure they already know that their portion is smaller than other Thai restaurants. It was not nice .
