Hudson House in Frisco was EVERYTHING. I came here with my girlfriends for dinner, and from start to finish, it was such a memorable experience. First off, our server Emily was incredible. She was so attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel taken care of all night. On the bar side, Desiree was amazing as well. Her drinks were perfection (more on that in a second). We were in a tapas-style mood, so we ordered a little bit of everything... and wow! We started with the pressed ahi tuna roll and the spicy tuna crispy roll. Both were delicious, but the spicy tuna crispy roll had such a burst of flavor that we had to order another one to go. It was that good. We shared several plates, and honestly, each one was a standout: * The mac and cheese was heavenly. I don't think I can eat mac and cheese anywhere else now - it set the bar way too high. * The steak frites... compliments to the chef. The steak was so tender it literally cut with a butter knife. Soft. Like. Butter. * The fish tacos are not your typical fish tacos at all. They looked like a panini and a burrito had a baby - we lovingly named it the "panirito" - and they were DELICIOUS. * The cheeseburger is truly like no other. Just incredible. We also started with the spicy popcorn shrimp, which came with this ranch-like sauce that definitely did not taste like ranch. We kept calling it "aioli" because it deserved better than the word ranch. We ended up dipping almost everything (minus the sushi) in it because it was that good. Drinks: The lemon drop martinis are an absolute MUST - extra foam (if you know, you know). Desiree absolutely nailed them. Dessert deserves its own moment. I am still dreaming about the chocolate silk pie. I honestly can't even describe how good it was - you just have to try it. A non-negotiable. We had the best time, the best food, and the best service. This place has officially become a tradition for us whenever we're all back in town together. The most overrated restaurant I have ever been to. Now the waiter was perfectly pleasant - so no flack on him but there were several errors with our orders - which were mostly burgers. The food was subpar, could have had the same burger almost anywhere else and the frites were very overcooked. The food took about an hour to be served and half the table was finished with their food before others even received it. The menu was also very shallow and didn't offer many options. Overall, I would probably never eat here again. In summary, there's nothing special about this place except for the "fancy" atmosphere. Overall, it is very overpriced for the quality of food and in my experience the overall service. Just a place for high maintenance people to feel special getting a simple meal. read more

Looking at these reviews- it seems I wasn't the only one with a mixed experience. I Went here for lunch today with some colleagues. The hostess asked us if we had a reservation and we said no, I asked if we needed one and she said "you do- you can make it over open table but you're in luck, I have a table this time around" it was a bit awkward for us.. and left us feeling like we did something wrong since she showed little to no hospitality- seems ironic since the pineapple is the international sign of hospitality- which is literally apart of their signage.. Our servers Jordan and Natasha redeemed our experience walking in and I'll definitely be back because of them- maybe I'll sit at the bar next time, unless I need a reservation for that spot too.. read more

Ambiance was lively but not excessive at 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon. The bar (rather large) was busy and was quite busy by 4pm. The service was very good. The food was also very good- a shrimp cocktail, fish tacos and French chicken. A "New England Style " lobster roll was disappointing on a prior visit, hence the loss of a star on this review. We suggest that the restaurant consider changing the recipe from a cold lobster salad on bread to a buttered roll filled with hot buttered lobster. That's technically called a Connecticut lobster roll. And they're the best. Just try one. Delicious! The manager came by and we had a nice conversation. We'll be back. read more

This place has been hyped up so much and have been wanting to try since they recently opened in Frisco! I went during happy hour and got so many items. First the drinks, we got the lemon drop martini and peach Bellini. Those were strong and just how I like it I enjoyed the lemon drop a lot. Next, if I see oysters on a happy hour menu... you know I'm getting it! Oysters were delightful. For the main stuff we got the dynamite shrimp, hudson salad, and the truffle fries. Shopping in the area and decided to try it. First time here. Greeted as we walked in. No wait time as we arrived about 1245. We felt a little underdressed, but after saying the clientele, we were fine. Very nice inside, professional, courteous, and helpful waitstaff. Not a large lunch menu and a little more pricey, but well worth it. We had the avocado appetizer and it was delicious. The salad I had was delicious and more than enough for me. The hamburger was cooked and seasoned well and on point. Fries were excellent as well. Largest pickle I have ever seen.The chocolate silk cake was to die for and was free due to it being my birthday. Had a nice visit here for a Sunday lunch. The bar area was extremely popular and crowd filled out to capacity by the time we left. The ambiance here is a welcome addition to the area. The environment with the wood and neatly dressed staff is great. Floor managers are in ties, hosts in coats, servers in white with aprons. Everyone was well-groomed and courteous. The bartenders seemed to be enjoying shaking the martinis (which they are targeting as a highlight here) and chatting with patrons. We didn't have reservations but the host stand handled us fine and we had good service throughout. There were a couple hiccups with some cold fries and we first received another table's check. But those were rectified with a smile. Those matchstick fries are just going to have trouble holding temperature if they're cooked anything but the moment of service. The menu is pretty quirky that highlights raw seafood and oysters. We had one of their specialty rolls and it was inventive and interesting. There was a Sunday brunch menu at relatively good prices but we chose off the regular menu instead. The lobster roll was really high quality and the salad with ahi tuna was also nice. All in all, we'll come here again for a nice time and try some more of their interesting dishes. read more

Sat down - took 45 mins to get our first drink. When we brought it up / you would have thought we offended them. The "manager" or the guy in the suit - even came to the table of 20 people - and tried to "chat us up" versus making it right. Multiple orders were mixed up, and don't even get me started on trying to make the bill work at the end of the night. Multiple over charges - which is totally wrong - especially after the night we had experienced. I was so hoping for a different experience. Note - I gave a totally separate wait person a $45 tip - just for being NICE - not waiting on us. So I am hopeful they turn it around - but first experience (service) was not the best. Food - we had the "Best Roll" and it was.... Fantastic. And the Fish Taco - more like a burrito, but also - fantastic. So if service can get fixed - it will be like the other locations. read more

Open three weeks now, but still not ready for prime time! We may not be back to this location. We've had great meals & service at the Dallas location. But poor management at the Frisco location. Sparing the details. Keeping this short. A very uncomplicated food order, three identical hamburgers, three identical cocktails, and one side order to share. So why is it so difficult to have this simple order delivered to our table? My wife and son got their burgers. But mine was somehow "missing"? Why would it take the kitchen over 25 minutes to bring a replacement burger - after my family had already finished eating? Sure restaurants do make mistakes and I'm very forgiving. But bringing a forgotten simple burger shouldn't take that long. They're not cooked to order. The cook line should have taken care of this more promptly. And I'm accustomed to the manager stopping by to apologize when these issues happen (that didn't happen.) It was 4:30 pm on a Thursday - we picked a non peak time on purpose. read more

Walked in the door at 4:00 pm on a Friday, bar was full, however 95% of the tables were empty. As I was greeted by the 5 Hostesses, 1 primary and 4 teenagers, I assumed were being trained. This was my initial conversation: I need a table for 3 ---Do you have reservation? Do I need a reservation? (The place is empty except for the bar) ---Are all the members of your party present? No but they will be here in 10 minutes ---(in a very rude and arrogant tone) Well, once they arrive, check back with me, and I will see if I have a table to seat you at. ***STRIKE 1 Ah, so you you are one of those restaurants! If looks could kill, well, I would be dead. (if I wasn't waiting for the rest of my party, I would have said a few choice words and left) So my party arrived 10 minutes later as previously stated, no one else was seated at any table during my wait. We were all seated at a table in the bar area, which we requested. However, we later found out, Happy Hour prices only included being physically seated at the bar ***STRIKE 2 and the table had not been cleaned! ***STRIKE 3 The food was nothing special, a little pricey. They are known for the Worlds Coldest Martini, how do they make the coldest Martini's you ask, "you shake them vigorously for 45 seconds" Yes, that makes them cold, and also adds more water to the drink, so for $16 they were not very strong. The Final Strike - We always get separate checks, so I pulled my credit card out for my check, and the others in my party always pay with cash. ---I'm sorry sir we not not accept cash here. Really, where is that posted? On the door, on a sign when you enter? --- No, but it is on the menu Would you please bring us a menu, so we can see for ourselves? --- Here you go So in the very bottom left had corner of the menu in a small font. Our server was super nice, his name was Wess. The restaurant ambiance and setup were pretty good, but not same vibe as other locations. In terms of food, especially in comparison to other Hudson houses I've been to, it's not at the same level in terms of taste. We had pressed tuna roll that was a bit tasteless and had a mild bad taste as if the tuna was old, the fish taco was pretty salty. Espresso martini was an extra amount of Bailey and strong creamy texture, and apparently wasn't fresh, we learned it's made in batches in the morning... a bit confusing and kinda bad... Popcorn chicken was the best plate we ordered at this location. Oysters were tasty, but had a lot of broken shell inside, were not chucked cleanly. Food took a very long time to arrive, same with drinks Employees are NOT the most friendly (except our server Wess who made the time we spent there tolerable), and were borderline mean. This location does not come close to the ones in Dallas and Addison, to start off they told us they were all out of cheeseburgers, how do you run out of burgers? The worst part of the experience was the service. It took us over 30 minutes to try to ask for an extra plate and another 30 to get the check. The servers were all dismissive after they realize you don't want to order more, since the food took 200 years to arrive and also never came around to check on us. It's sad to say this, but I have been to most of the Hudson brand locations, and this one is the worst. The manager was very insensitive when we brought to his attention that the food was too salty, burger. Clearly, there is no training regarding food and beverage, as when I asked for the type of wine you have as a 'house wine,' there was no clear answer. Last but not least, regarding my beverage order, my wife and I ordered drinks, and they took 30 minutes to arrive. I also ordered a second drink to have with my food, and it took so long that I finished my meal before the wine arrived. This location is in need of help. We regularly visit the Irving and Addison locations and they're among our favorite spots in DFW and we were ecstatic to have a new location in Frisco. After a couple visits to this Frisco location, we've decided to no longer patron this spot. 20+ minutes for a cocktail is what you can expect. Poor service in the form of not getting orders correct and/or late is the regular experience here. Hudson house is a fantastic restaurant, but not the Frisco location. read more

We've been here 20 minutes and my husband still hasn't gotten a drink. We sat for a while before a waiter asked if we'd been helped. We said no and she got someone. My husband ordered a beer and turns out they were out of it. So he ordered a different beer and turns out they're out of it too. Unfortunately it took ~5 minutes each order for the waiter to come back and tell us. They just opened , how are they out of beers on their beer list? Then we ordered a roll and were told we could have the sashimi on the side as we wanted 8 minutes later a manager comes by to say chef won't make it that way.
