Been here twice for lunch and tried their shrimp tacos and their veggie burger. Both were typical bar fare with a little more pizzazz. Also enjoyed a fishbowl that the bartender tweaked to our liking (seltzer instead of soda) and man was that delicious and highly intoxicating both literally and spiritually-- you gotta get on it and try it. Pros: - Really cute spot on the water, great views, and the outdoor seating space is awesome, especially during covid. - Good food, nice presentation, great chicken BLT and loved the truffle fries & brussel sprouts! -Overall nice staff and quick service, we had a reservation and were seated promptly. - Accommodating team (thanks to Juan, he tried to kill the bees for us haha) Cons: - There seemed to be a problem with bees: there was a cup filled with 10+ bees right next to the tables outside so they kept swarming around, we had to be moved twice to different tables and we still had to fight off these which made our lunch a bit stressful. - Also cups filled with soda and drinks on the barrels weren't cleaned up after patrons left, attracting more bees. we had asked one of the servers in front to clear the cup but all they did was move us to a table which we had to be moved from again. - Drinks didn't seem to have much alcohol, they were just sweet for the $ Overall, I will be back to give this place a second chance, because I enjoyed the ambiance and food minus the bee stress and clean up issue, maybe it was a one off. I have been to the Hudson Social approx 20 times over the past five years. Every time I go, the place gets a little angrier and the employees a little lazier. It is hard to understand why a restaurant would intentionally make its' customers feel unwanted. While the food is decent, I recommend all people go somewhere else where the restaurant staff will treat you with respect. read more

Perfect place for a tasty dinner, great cocktail and conversation with the friendly staff. We LOVE coming here in the summer - the outdoor bar and picnic table seating is perfect for our weekend adventures. In the winter, we have enjoyed eating outside under the heaters. New standouts include the crispy brussell sprouts, the social burger and truffled grilled cheese. Don't miss the roast chicken, a usual oversight at a spot like this, I was deeply impressed by the quality and execution. Perfectly crispy skin with moist chicken and the mushrooms on the side were to die for. For drinks, the new cocktail menu strays from the standard fare of moscow mules and margaritas, instead focusing on sweet and savory complex cocktails like the ready, aim fire. The hostess was amazing, she was able to accommodate us and everyone else that was dining outdoors. 10/10 would return again. Homemade mozzarella appetizer was great, but my $14 sangria was served in a plastic cup, which would have been fine if we were eating al fresco. My husband paid $36 for a slow roasted brisket; well, the potatoes were good. The table was sticky and there was no one there which is understandable since it was a weekend afternoon. The martini at Happy hour was not that good. The location and views and convenience of it being being right on the train is what is propping up business here. While the menu offerings are standard bar fair I think what would elevate this place to another level wold be a more accomplished Chef. We ordered the last stop salad, and it didn't have enough greens or steak offered in the meal. We also got the sliders, while the sliders were good, they did not offer fries along with that. I placed an order online to pick up because of the pandemic and my husband and I still fell sick, we got food poisoning! When arriving home I realized the restaurant got my order wrong and when I called to explain to the manager Megan and it was basically a back and forth thing, she was not quick at all to apologize but only quick to refute what I was explaining was wrong with my order. In addition to all of this I asked her for a receipt in which she responded they don't "give" receipts for online orders?! I really want this place to be great but... Stopped on my boat for a quick bite (wanted to get back before dark) & was told kitchen was behind and food would be 30 minutes. Okay... sit down, got ready to order from menu before waitress showed. Tell her we are aware of 30 minute delay and want to order right away. She says food could be 45 minutes. Meanwhile inside has 2 guys drinking at bar otherwise completely empty. Outside had 1 empty table and empty bar seats. So they weren't even at half seating capacity and kitchen couldn't keep up. Strike 1. I asked if anything was premade and quick like a nachos and told "no, nothing". We didn't order food based on that. Placed drink order. Beer Menu app showed they had Lagunitas Sucks DIPA. Menu had no descriptions and listed Lagunitas IPA. I asked if it was Lagunitas Sucks but waitress had never heard of that. My wife inquired about one beer which was sold out and was told it was replaced with "Brooklyn Summer which is an IPA"... really? Strike 2. After our beers FINALLY arrived, I said hey, does this Uber Pretzel really take 45 minutes? Was told, oh no that's quick. Why didn't you suggest earlier when I asked???? Strike 3. My wife is a bit of a pretzel aficionado and hated the $9 pretzel. I must agree it had no salt and was blah. Strike 4. I decided to review Hudson Social again to share my experience about a place that is a true social experience! I've been here more than a dozen times since it opened about nine months ago. I will come for simply drinks with friends and most often for dinner. I've "SOCIAL'd" for breakfast and lunch but most often, for drinks and dinner. First of all, the outdoor tables and beautiful view of the Hudson is not to be beat. Given the affordable menu, where else can you have such an experience on a beautiful day or evening? The food: Apps..my wife and I love to share the dates wrapped in prosciutto with Gorgonzola and the bruschetta sampler (which comes with 2 pcs of prosciutto/fig honey/goat cheese and 2 pcs of prosciutto with mozzarella tomato and basil). Both are simply amazing! When we come for drinks with friends, we often order the baked kale and sweet potato chips as well as the three cheese platter with flatbreads to complement our cocktails. Entrees and sandwiches: we often share an entrée salad...they are huge... and One of their signature sandwiches. My favorite is the turkey with green apple, bacon, fontina cheese, and cranberry aioli on chiabata bread. My favorite salad is something called the last stop which is a sliced hanger steak with arugula and lots of other stuff. My wife loves the Cobb salad with chicken. The food is what you would expect to find at a haute cuisine top quality formal restaurant but at less than half the cost. Desserts: on the rare occasions that we have had dessert.. normally too full after food and drinks.. I've enjoyed The Reese's peanut butter brownie which we top with gelato. All the coffees are good with many espressos offered. The small espresso is delicious and only $2.75. Drinks: WOW! there are specials every day and all summer long they've had $5 margaritas... including the frozen type that my wife loves. They take their bartending seriously. The Moscow Mule is served properly in a copper cup.. Keeping it chilled to the last drop! Cait and all the bartendersare creative and friendly. By the way, if it is too hot outside, go inside the Social for a cool "retro but now" vibe. PS.. I've read some of the other reviews. If you are planning to come here to grab something very quickly and leave, I would not recommend that. Come here to chill and have some drinks. It is not meant to be for a grab and go type of experience. If you are looking for an evening with your date or with a group of friends, this is the joint! read more

Me and my husband came here last Sunday. We sat at the bar and ordered from the brunch menu. The food was excellent and the bartender (Mike I think) was a nice and fun guy. I saw him make someone else's a drink with gin in it and asked if next time (and yes we are going back) he could make me that but with vodka. He told me of course - matter of fact he has a lot of mixes and juices - I could tell him what I like and he'll mix me up something. I love that!! We will definitely be back!! read more

I love the concept. My waitress Yolanda was great. I really didn't eat my food see my pictures and comments. She gave me a dessert to go with the check. She also took my sandwich off the bill. I liked the ambience and I think the idea is great so I will be back for drinks and explore the menu a little more. The place is friendly for kids and here in Dobbs with have lots of kids. my server was a grouch. I came in hungry and rushed and i ordered fries. they were 7 DOLLARS and I really did not feel the need to tip. When i left a 0$ tip the bartender started dragging on about it, i felt bad so i pulled out a dollar. I asked for a side of mayo and before I gave him the dollar instead of mayo he put SOUR CREAM. I can't eat sour cream and the fries were not good alone. I don't know who this man thought he was but I can only imagine the way he reacts at the bar when he gets no tip. read more

My rating is the average of two visits: My buddies and I loved this place the first time we came to watch football early in the season. We agreed the nachos were some of the best we've ever had, the burgers and apps were good, and the vibe and bartender were both cool. But when we recently came again, just a couple months later, it just seems to have fallen off a bit: food wasn't nearly as good overall, kitchen was painfully slow on a slow night, beer selection suddenly sucked, and the vibe was just depressing. A wonderful afternoon on a summer's day, my family and I stopped after a scenic train ride for the kids and had a delicious lunch. The steak salad was the perfect blend of satisfying slices of steak, greens, onion and potato wedges, seasoned perfectly with delicious lemon balsamic dressing. The grilled chicken salad was also delicious as were the pancakes. Our server Maria was helpful, very nice and attentive giving great recommendations. The location is cool in the converted Dobbs Ferry train station and the view can't be beat overlooking the esplanade and Hudson River. The drinks looked good too...this is worth a visit read more

I contacted them on the website less than a week before and Joe reached out to me immediately and was so accommodating and kind. When we arrived Matt was there to greet us and it was a seamless night! I wish I could remember the name of our waiter, he was fantastic too! Under new ownership and with a new chef, Hudson Social served up a great lunch today. We had two friends visiting from Germany come up on the train. One was our Aupair exactly 20 years ago. She really wanted to see Dobbs Ferry and how it had changed. It just made sense to see old friends Ron and Matt and try out the new place. We started with the Brussel sprouts appetizer and it was wonderful. Very tasty and the bacon served as a delicious prelude to our burgers. They were cooked exactly as we ordered them, very juicy, and obviously made of high quality, flavorful ground beef. My wife enjoyed the truffle grilled cheese she had ordered. Had very high expectations for this place. The view was beautiful. Right by the water! What was upsetting was we came here for brunch and many of their hot items were all crossed off with a marker. Also prices are not worth portion size. Our server also wasn't very helpful. A lot of food items didn't have descriptions of what was included or in the item itself and when asked we were just told "well ya you know". It made trying some things very difficult. Our group really wanted to like this place because the French toast and mimosas were fantastic but we can't speak for the other items we ordered.
