Went on a Saturday afternoon around 3/4 pm and it was pretty busy. The facility itself was really nice and clean. For $30, a max of 5 hours is super worth it! However since it was busy unfortunately there were some groups of people who were not following spa rules. There were instances of women who were naked in the hot rooms even though you are not supposed to take off your robes there, and people chatting really loudly in multiple rooms. Also saw one person who brought a phone into the infrared room even though it says no electronics aloud. I think it would be nice if the receptionist went over some general rules / guidelines when you first pay for the pass since it seems that a lot of people didn't read the website beforehand or read the signs all over the spa. I would come again and I think next time I would try a treatment as well, but I don't think I would come again during a weekend. read more

I will not return to this place due to serious cleanliness issues, I'm shocked by all of the positive reviews. The receptionist was very friendly over the phone when I made my appointments and when I called to confirm the week of my visit. The spa is located in a strip mall in what looks to be a kind of sketchy part of town. The front desk girl wasn't rude but definitely not friendly or welcoming. They don't provide you with any sandals or slippers so everyone is walking around barefoot from the locker room, spa rooms, bathroom, shower, etc.. any other spa (Korean or not) I've ever been to provides footwear. Athletes foot and foot fungus is very contagious, especially in warm damp areas like the showers. In the shower area they have your regular stand up showers and an area with showers that are low to the ground that have a detachable shower head, in this area they have these white plastic seats you can sit on which don't get cleaned between uses which is disgusting considering they get reused from person to person after coming into contact with your bare private parts. The hot tub is very small, only three people can comfortably fit at a time. While I was in the hot tub I was looking at the tile and surrounding areas and they looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while. They have an "oxygen" room with mats you can lay on and again, these mats don't get cleaned between uses. The oxygen room was just a dark room with colorful lights and an air purifier from Amazon, it was honestly laughable. I got a massage which was pretty nice, the masseuse was sweet and made sure I was doing okay and comfortable with the pressure. Unfortunately during the massage she went from massaging my bare feet to massaging my face... again after I had been walking around the spa barefoot along with everyone else who had gone from the bathroom, shower and all throughout the spa - pretty disgusting. I loved the Himalayan salt room but it was hard to relax in there. The little cafe area is right outside of this room and a worker was sitting out in front of the cafe chopping cucumbers the entire time so every few seconds I would hear the knife hitting the cutting board over and over again. While my mom was coming to join me in the salt room she said the worker dropped a cucumber on the floor, a customer was right there and picked it up and told the worker she'd throw it away for her but she told her don't throw it away, she still will use it. I would not return and would suggest you look elsewhere if you're looking for a clean and relaxing spa day. read more

Today was my first time visiting Hugh spa. This place is super clean, and I really enjoyed stepping in and out of the steamy hot, and icy cold rooms. The Himalayan Salt room and clay ball rooms were also very relaxing. I tried the wormwood throne room, and it was a surprising experience, lol. The herbal scents in those rooms were another plus. Second time going to Hugh Spa. I have only used the spa and have never used the spa services. My only issue is that customers don't follow the rules and put their shoes on when they are getting dressed and walk around the public area. Those shoes are from the streets of LA. I was there for only an hour and half at most and saw 4 different people where their shoes and the area was not cleaned after. I did not feel good walking around barefoot. read more

We had a Mother and adult Daughters session for the first time! Great fun! We did the wraps, which included a brisk scrubbing, mini massages and mini facials. Really great and unusual. We also enjoyed the other rooms that are included -- oxygen room, hot and cold experiences, etc. Would love if they had more mineral water tubs. It was too crowded to partake in that. We were there on a Friday evening, so fresh made Korean food was available. They have a kitchen and seating area. Vegan options. We loved everything we ordered, including the dumplings, rolls, noodle bowls and beverages. Takes awhile to get your food because it's cooked from scratch. So, order early! You pay for services on entry, get your towels, robe, and locker key. Your locker number is how you are identified for services and to order food. Pay for food as you leave the spa. I came on a Sunday around noon, there is a parking lot there as it is in the second floor of a strip mall and parking was easy at this time. When you check in, they charge you and then give you a locker key, robe and towels. They also had slippers to use if you ask. The spa itself was on the smaller side compared to the other women spas in K town (I've been to most of them). There was only one hot tub to soak in that was on the small side with no jets. Next to it is a mugwort tea bath where you can use a little bucket and just pour it on yourself (you can't get into it). They provide steps to go in order: 1. Shower and soak, 2. Jade Sauna, 3. Mud Room, 4. Himilayan Salt Room, 5. Infrared Magnet Room, 6. Ice Room, 7. Oxygen Room Each room was nice and clean. I booked a Purification package- SCRUB AND MASSAGE Pamper yourself with our invigorating body scrub as we exfoliate dead skin cells in preparation for a nourishing Swedish massage. This treatment includes a hydrating face mask and hair wash with a light scalp massage. Spa admission is included. 70 min | $115 The scrub here was subpar compared to other spas. The scrubber wasn't very rough and the ajumma didn't scrub as hard so I didn't feel as smooth and soft. The massage part was terrible. She just squirted a copious amount of baby oil on me and basically just rubbed my skin. There was no pressure in my muscles at all. I was very disappointed with this, and I would never get another massage here. Otherwise, the spot self is fine, just on the smaller side and it did start getting crowded around 4 PM. I won't go into too many details on what to expect at the spa since another review already does. I can confirm this is an excellent option!! My services were amazing, the spa is very clean, and it's a super relaxing atmosphere (if you are able to go when others who understand spa etiquette are there). I could see spending multiple hours relaxing while enjoying the peaceful environment. The only reason I opted to leave was because the women who arrived during one of my treatments were very stand offish and continued to have small talk in the individual rooms, but that's nothing the spa can control. I would recommend letting the front desk staff know if it's your 1st time there and perhaps they'll give you insights on what to do. I didn't mention it but everything is labeled/numbered and there is an attendant in the back. Some pictures show food being available but that's not the case. There are a few food places in the same plaza but I can't speak to how good they are. Sooo glad this small but invigorating spa is still operational!! I have been in years...before Covid. Upon entering, you already can feel the peace and tranquility that awaits down the hall through the frost stained glass door. Today I received a 40 salt and apricot scrub. I arrived about an hour early so that I could partake in the various sauna rooms. That was plenty of time though next time I will take more time to enjoy since I was on a time constraint today. My scrub was glorious. I was so clean afterward that I'm sure I would have gotten a A+ rating to be eaten off LOLOL! I'm definitely going to try to get one bi annually. Oh and last but not least...the options for food is fantastic. The elderly Korean lady takes your order and within minutes, depending on how busy has your food prepared!! Hugh spa is small and intimate. They only have one pool and the steam room is small so you can't lie down, BUT the clay ball room is so amazing. Think of a hinoki scented grownup ball pit (I mean that in the best way). I also like the pink salt room, it has really beautiful light. The scrubs are great here. A pro tip if you color your hair and you're picky about your shampoo is that you can bring your own and the ladies will happily use it. I do miss the cafe being open on weekdays, because when I go to Hugh I prefer to go on on weekday mornings or afternoons to avoid a crowd since it's a small space, and you're less likely to run into people being loud. If you're there on a weekend when the cafe is open, the spicy soft tofu stew is so good. All the food comes with little pickled sides that the lady makes herself and are so tasty. The lady at the cafe is also just the sweetest, most wonderful person. Another pro tip is to bring one towel of your own for the end because you only get two towels, and even the bigger one is pretty small (and I'm a very small person). By the end your towels will be damp, so if you also bring one of your own, you'll have a dry towel to use before you get dressed. read more

Not run by people with integrity. The facility is dirty and if something is wrong, they will not refund you or make it right. The mud room has small piles of hair intermixed with the beads. The ice room had dirt in the corner. I did see people cleaning however they did not do the details,just general mopping. 1/5 service 1/5 facilities Any other Korean day spa is better. They will lie to you so that you pay for a service that isn't what you want and when the service is not what they promised,oh well. Never had this happen at a korean spa before. First Impressions - a friend invited me to the spa for a traditional Korean spa date... the neighborhood is very unassuming, and I would not have expected to find a spa here... but I loved how friendly everyone was on staff, this was my second trip, but they still patiently explained their services like they did on my first time here. I also love how it is women only. It's unfortunate that I can't bring my husband, but I like the idea of being a sacred space for women to relax. We are not allowed to take pictures in here so I only discreetly took a picture of the bathroom supplies after the room became empty. The Services - the first time I just got a traditional Korean scrub, but this time I splurged, and went for the brown sugar scrub... it's about $20 more and 10 minutes longer... I would recommend both. I loved, going from room to room and enjoying the sauna, the hot water bath, the heat, the clay balls, and the heated rooms... there are seven or eight different rooms, and I loved rotating through all of them. Some rooms will be quiet and some rooms will have a small group of women having a conversation... I think it just depends on how busy it is. I personally don't mind conversation as long as it's not obnoxiously loud, which it never got to be the two times I visited... but my friend told me that you could get pretty chatty on certain days and times. Since there are so many rooms, if one is too chatty for you, feel free to look for another empty room. The scrub itself is so relaxing, you get exfoliation and a massage at the same time. I was amazed at the amount of skin that was scrubbed off my body, and how smooth and buttery and glowing my skin looked afterwards. In Conclusion- I wish I lived closer so that I could do this every other week or so... but as it is, I visit California once a month, so I've decided to make this a monthly thing. I'm almost tempted to gatekeeper this spot and not post a review, but that would not be fair since my friend chose to share this spot with me (and she's been coming here for a while) once she realized that it would be something I would enjoy too. I would 100% recommend this spot to anyone who wants a good relaxing massage and scrub in a woman only environment. Each room is diffused with essential oils and there is nice music in the background. Two nice lounge areas to relax. I love that they have a mud room and crystal room... both my favorite. Also the prices are great! $115 for a 70min body scrub and massage and the entrance fee is waived with a service. I wasn't going to leave a review because I thought maybe Korean spas just aren't my thing (have only been to Olympic before this), but one week after my experience I still have a rash in a couple spots that won't go away. I just got a prescription cream for it. I wasn't impressed by the cleanliness of the spa in general, and the Glow Booster scrub+massage took place in a communal shower room. My fault for booking a wet treatment, but I should have left when I realized that the 1-hour massage portion is also done in this area. You're on a massage bed covered with thick plastic and 3 other women are getting scrubbed and hosed next to you. At one point my skin was drying out between hosings, and the lady peeled my thigh off the table to "massage" my legs. You're surrounded by the sounds of Korean ladies chit chatting between clients and people taking showers, also getting sprayed by neighboring treatments, and in my case another customer was moaning loudly and erotically throughout the duration of her massage. I'm actually upset with myself that I didn't leave. I had already pre-tipped so it wouldn't have affected the nice lady doing my treatment. I paid $300 plus $60 tip for two 90-min treatments. The lady at the front heavily upsold us but it was my sister's birthday so I told her to do whatever she wanted. My sister at least chose a "dry" massage which was in a private room, though she said it was cold and they don't have heated blankets. We came here on a recommendation and honestly it was kind of comically shocking. Korean spas were one of my favorite treat-yourself activities pre-pandemic, however I haven't had a chance to visit one in a very long time. Hugh Spa made my first Korean spa experience in years so wonderful! From booking my appointment to checking out, everyone was kind and welcoming. They even helped put together a custom itemized receipt so I could submit it for my company's wellness benefit. The facility was clean and quiet, I showed up around 11 on a Saturday and didn't expect to have the place virtually to myself on a weekend! It was so relaxing and calming. Around noon, it started to get a bit busier. The rooms are on the smaller side, but even with other people inside it never felt cramped. The only small piece of feedback I'd provide is that it would be nice to have clocks in some of the heated rooms, like the steam sauna, where it's easy to lose track of how long you've been in there! My scrub/massage started right on time. It felt amazing to shed years of dead skin, then follow it up with a thorough massage, face mask, and hair wash! I scheduled a massage and v steam in advance and arrived early to use the other amenities. Upon check in service was not the friendliest, not rude, but not warm. She asked no questions, no forms to fill out just for my payment and handed me a tip envelope and a locker key. It was my first time there, so I asked which way to the lockers and she simply pointed. The robe was too small, glad I brought my own, and other patrons were loudly talking while lounging in the various sitting areas in the locker room. There was a large vanity with blow dryers for post services, showers, and multiple hampers for towels and robes. The rooms were labeled clearly. The spa was not clean, all of the rooms had a musty odor, and the bathroom was absolutely rank. They did clean the bathroom by the time I left, but initially it was awful. Some rooms had odd buzzing noises, probably caused by bad light bulbs. There was lots of hair in every room but the massage room. The deep tissue massage was okay, very painful at times, but over the next couple of days the soreness gave way and I felt great. I was not expecting my face and scalp to be massaged, had I been checked in patiently I would have mentioned this to the receptionist before hand. After the massage she hurried me off the table, helped me into my robe, and rushed me out of the room. I was a bit dizzy, so this was not only rude and unexpected, but disorienting. I've always had the luxury of laying and relaxing a bit after a message, you never stand up right away. Anyways, next was the v steam. A staff member found me and escorted me to the room, asked me to change into the gown and instructed me on what to do. The steam wasn't too hot, you are free to adjust, they give you tea and a cookie, and there are magazines to keep you occupied. When done you unplug the machine and put your gown in the designated hamper. Honestly the experience was underwhelming, especially for the cost. The other patrons were rude, lots of glares and poor spa etiquette. I did not go on a day the kitchen was open, so I can't rate that. Not sure if I would go back. read more

I have found my new K Spa! I booked a scrub and 60 min shiatsu massage during TG week in tradition with my week off work. I loved everything about my experience and had an amazing massage that really hit those "tech neck" sore spots on my neck and shoulders. Yes this spa is not as large as the others, but with that comes better service, less people, and way better value for your $$. Arriving at 9am allows for ample parking in their lot but can see how the lot can be packed later in the day. I left around 12:30pm and it was already 3/4 full from the other businesses. I made the reservation over the phone, they didn't take any credit card info or anything. Check in was very smooth, the front desk person double checked that a shiatsu was what I wanted (dry massage, no oil, more pressure point based). Um yes please. I was able to shower, soak in the salt jacuzzi, use the tea wash, and steam before my service. The services started ON THE DOT, these ladies don't miss a beat. My tech, Sara, was super nice and strong; so much dead skin...I feel like I shed my winter snake skin. As soon as I was done, I was immediately intercepted by the massage tech Haley, who whisked me off to a private enclosed room. She was SO strong, but had good communication on pressure level and areas to concentrate on. When my 60 min was up, I didn't want it to end. I was so relaxed and loosened up, I felt so disoriented with relief when I was walking back to the main spa area. I them treatment room hopped to my hearts desire: clay, Himalayan salt, oxygen, infrared heat, steam room, and cold room. I only wish the cafe was open, I could have stayed all damn day. I checked out Yelp and Google reviews prior to my visit, and for some reason, prob just my nature, I gravitated towards the ones that were not favorable just to "know what to look out for". I was VERY pleasantly surprised to have nothing but great friendly service from the booking process to all the staff I encountered. They do NOT charge for usage of lockers and they do NOT have a credit card fee, everything was totally normal and fine. My only slight disappointment is their cafe isn't open on Tuesdays haha, I was really looking forward to that steamed egg dish! I also wish they provided spa sandals for walking to and from the jade/marble floors but I will make sure to bring my own on my next visit. read more

To be honest- I tend to be nervous about experiences outside of my wheelhouse, so I'm going to write this in the hope that someone like me, who has never been to a Korean spa before might find it helpful. The people at the front desk were welcoming and - most importantly I enjoyed a GREAT and thorough massage from Soon. I was sore the next day in all the best ways! She was incredible, focusing on my shoulder, which has been sore for months. As a first time visitor, who will definitely be returning, here is far too much information, some of which that may be useful to other potential visitors like me: - I called the morning of and made an appointment within an hour: Super easy. - You can go before your appointment: I showed up 30 min early you can go even earlier. Another woman said she was there 2 hours early to enjoy the rooms. I'll go earlier next time. -Men are not allowed in the spa- women only. I never saw any men, anywhere. -As you check in, you'll pay for your service(s) (which incl. use of spa facilities), they'll give you a key on a bracelet, a robe, and towels and show you around. -You cannot wear shoes inside the inner door to the treatment rooms, also no swim suits, JUST your robe. -There are several treatment spaces that you can use. Each is pretty private with room for 1-4 women but I was usually alone. -Even when not alone, there really is no expectation you'll talk to anyone (but people were friendly and helpful). -Change into the robe and lock up your stuff (no phones allowed!). Bring a paper book or magazine if you want to read. There are numbers to follow suggesting the order to follow - starting by the showers. -There is a wall of plastic cubbies like in preschool to put your robe and towels and plastic bins for you to keep your stuff in, so it stays together/dry. -Don't miss the clay ball room! There are these burlap "blankets" and bricks you sorta have to maneuver yourself into a comfortable position with, but once you do? Heaven! -Similarly, on the opposite far side is the Himalayan Salt Room, another of my favorite spaces. -In between all the HOT spaces, the ice room will feel amazing. -When it is time for your massage or other treatment they will call out your locker number (this is also in your bracelet) and walk you to the treatment room. -You'll be given an envelope to place tip in when you leave with your provider's name on it (20% is standard). I believe they said you can also use a credit card if you'd rather. -When done, they'll walk with you back to the treatment area, and you can continue to enjoy the experience. -I believe you can stay up to five hours plus the massage - I was SO relaxed after my massage and 2 hours, I was falling asleep on the warm clay stones, so headed home for a long nap-- But I'll definitely be back! This also would be an amazing gift for any occasion (hint hint). -THINGS I'LL BRING NEXT TIME: my water bottle with ice & water/tea (they have a water jug to refill water and cups); Maybe a small, neat snack like almonds or a protein bar? (the spa has what looked to be a small deli, it wasn't open when I was there); My own comb/ lotion/ hair tie. They provide shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hair dyers. read more

It was my first time going to a Korean spa. I had an idea you had to be naked but wasn't sure the full extent of it. Like do you get to wear robes or a bathing suit...it's robes. First I did a package. You get to use the entire spa. All the rooms. Scrub. Massage. Facial. The rooms are numbered so you start off with number one and go from there. You shower naked with other women. You steam naked with other women. The hot tubs you're naked. Basically you're naked for the whole ordeal except when walking around or going into treatment rooms other than the steam room. And it's amazing! To be so free and relaxed. It's liberating. And the scrub!!! Best decision ever. You'll get hooked. My skin was amazing after. The message. It's a real deep tissue massage. I'm definitely coming back. read more

All the traditional rooms are available. The bath is a Himalayan sea salt bath. The rooms are numbered so you know which order to do things. This place was the highlight of my entire LA trip. The spa could be described in so many words and more: soothing, relaxing, tranquil, clean, intimate, centering, comforting, etc etc etc. I ordered one of the packages that included scrub (A MUST), body massage, facial (can skip), V steam. The scrub was the most amazing thing I've experienced. I've been to Asian spas in China where they also scrub you up and down on a table but it's much faster and cheaper. Which was the reason why I wasn't sure if I wanted a scrub at a much more expensive price. But let me tell you: you need it and won't regret getting it. Even if that means that's the only service you get. The Korean ladies are so hardworking, they scrub you so good from neck to toe, multiple times. All my dry dead skin came off and I felt like a brand new person. BABY SKIN. Don't think I've had skin that felt like this in decades! Not at all an exaggeration. (Though I have thoughts on neck scrubbing and am not a fan; think I will skip that portion in the future.) The different rooms were great and relaxing, but it all comes back to the scrub. The people who work here are EXTREMELY nice. From the reception to the kitchen, completely professional and hospitable. The massages are relatively affordable. I give this three stars however because it stinks. Like stinks in a way where you can just tell it's not being properly maintained. The rooms have these hot blankets on them so you don't touch the hot stone directly. But the issue is they clearly aren't being washed, ever! There was a week old stink of mold on the blankets. These are rooms people sweat in. So you'd assume those would get changed out or washed. I laid on one and had to shower 3x to get someone else's smell off. The rules are also pretty unclear, I had to ask a lot of questions to figure it out. It is really small, not like WiSpa, but the women only aspect is good. read more

There's something about warm water being poured all over your body in the midst of the scrub and massage that is the most comforting and enjoyable thing in the world... brings me back to being bathed as a baby. A good friend invited me here for a spa day. It was my first spa experience. I enjoyed my time and left satisfied for the price. Hugh Spa is a cute and small, women's only spa (men can book massages, but not be in the common area) in K-town. Parking isn't as nightmarish as you expect. The spa is on the second floor of a strip plaza so you can find free parking. We did have appointments prior to visiting. Because we were running a little late, the staff were kind enough to accommodate us with a slightly pushed back time. The spa is small, but it has a relaxed and casual feel. We were given pink robes to borrow and took off our shoes before heading to the lockers. You can keep your key on you like a bracelet. I booked the Swedish massage, which lasted 60 minutes and cost $110. Price for admission for the amenities (which is usually $30) was included in the massage price. Overall, I thought this was a really worthwhile experience. My masseuse was so sweet and I didn't fe uncomfortable whatsoever. The hour feels a lot longer than you think. I was able to be in the same room as my friend and they played relaxing music the entire time. After our massages, it's recommended to shower. If you're uncomfortable stripping down in front of strangers, this part might require some extra planning (pack extra underwear, swim shorts, ect). The shower area had shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Some amenities like the mugworth tea bath and sauna are located here. Afterwards, we explored the other amenities. Being there on a weekday, the spa wasn't crowded. Most of the time it was just me and my friend or one other person in the rooms. Out of all the rooms, the clay ball room, ice room, and Himalayan salt room were the most relaxing for me. I'm only knocking off a star because I thought other rooms like the oxygen room and infrared magnet room were a little gimmicky (ex. the oxygen room is a plain room with a fan/humidifier in it). They also have a cafe, but that's only supposedly open on the weekends. They do offer water and complimentary hot tea. At the end, there are vanities and wall outlets for you to put on makeup/get ready at. Overall, this was a really nice experience and I would love to come back. read more

This was by far the best Korean spa experience I've had. I had been a customer here consecutively for 2.5 years. Often times coming every week multiple times a week until I was racially profiled and made to feel like a criminal in the spa. There is a policy and/or shady business dealings between the spa and the parking guard/owner of stripmall where spa is located. Consistently upon a change in parking at the lot their parking attendant would harass, attack me, accost my vehicle. Sprew slurs and the spa owner when made aware of this refused to take action. I was threatened and attacked -- a police report was filed. This spa which I enjoyed at one time now is a place where you will only get top quality treatment if you are a certain race. Hugh spa is of the best small Korean spas I have been to. The quality of the massages are so much better than ones at a larger spa. They use quality products (shampoos, lotions, etc) and more of them on your body. Got the glow scrub and massage and it was amazing. It is a smaller, all female place so they have you sit in the sauna or hot tub until you are called for your appointment. The various rooms are relaxing as well. Himilayan salt room, charcoal, ice room, etc. They had a small kitchen with traditional Korean dishes but they are only open weekends. I ordered from Uber eats and they were able to deliver to the front desk. The place feels secure since they lock the front door unless you have an appointment or paid an entrance fee. There is also a valet downstairs and across the street a police station. Highly recommended spa. read more

After a long hiatus from Korean spas due to the pandemic, I decided it was finally safe enough to go again. I wanted to try a spa I haven't been to and Hugh spa fits the bill being so highly reviewed. I didn't have much time so I opted for the body scrub but I sense a little annoyed tone when I decided for the cheaper treatment. She sure sounded more upbeat with the customer before me who opted for a more expensive treatment. I decided to keep an open mind. However the amenities in this spa is so underwhelming! Pretty much just a salt sauna, clay sauna and cold sauna. The soaking tub was so tiny that there is no room for 2 people in the tub. I mind as well soak in my own bathtub if that is the case. There is only one tub and I don't even know how the temperature is like since someone was in there for entire time I was there. The good thing is practically no one is using any of the saunas. I usually give myself at least 1 hr to check out the spa before my treatment and most of the time in other spas, it is not enough. However I find myself bored and waiting to get the treatment over with here. The best thing about Korea spas for me is the soaking tub. The hot tub is great for softening muscles and cold tub is great for pain and decreasing inflammation. None of these were sufficient in this spa! So disappointing! On to the treatment, I say it is mediocre at best. Nothing bad and nothing spectacular. I say Olympic spa has better treatments AND amenities. However I probably like wii spa for its amenities the most (enough space for soaking). Too bad the facility is getting old and not as clean as it used to be. Driving into this place is a little odd too. It is basically located in the middle of swap meet LA and you have to drive pass into the plaza that is covered with swap meet vendors.
