    vegan mac and cheese
    Kiersten J.

Not bad, but also nothing to rave about. Ordered delivery of the vegan blt wrap with fries and vegan mac and cheese. Everything lacked some seasoning. The vegan mac and cheese was also just pasta with unmelted shredded cheese on top which was disappointing. Wouldn't say it's worth the cost or going out of my way to try again.

We recently discovered a new spot and had breakfast at Hugo's Studio City, and it was such a pleasant experience. We found this place through a Google search while specifically looking for a restaurant with a large gluten-free menu -- and Hugo's truly delivered. Almost everything on the menu is gluten-free, from classic French toast to hearty burritos, which is incredibly rare and impressive. There's a great balance between healthy options and more indulgent, gourmet-style dishes. Even the desserts are gluten-free, which was a big plus. The service was excellent from start to finish. From the hostess to our server, everyone was friendly, warm, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. We chose to sit on the patio since the weather was sunny, and it was the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the moment. Inside, there's plenty of seating, though the interior feels a bit dark for my taste. The old-fashioned décor gives the place a nostalgic, almost time-travel feel. Prices are reasonable, and portions are medium-sized. Overall, I highly recommend this spot -- and we'll definitely be back.

I came to Hugo's Restaurant with my vegan parents and kids. I had the Cali Benedict with potatoes and really enjoyed it. My parents ordered the vegan chipotle scramble and vegan French toast and loved both. The kids had chicken strips with fries and butter pasta. Both were kid-approved. Jake was our server and he was great. We liked that he was attentive and gave helpful suggestions. The space is warm and cozy with a relaxed vibe, and parking was easy since they have their own lot (huge plus). The only miss for us was the vegan bacon... quinoa bacon is a big commitment . Everything else was a win and we'd definitely come back. See you soon!

Got the veggie casserole, which was good. But the star of the meal was the vegan Rueben. I'll come back on my own just to eat that. Ambiance was good, service top notch.

Another wonderful place I've been to numerous times and hadn't reviewed! I know these things: Never had a bad meal Never had bad service Never had a tummy ache afterwards. Their Happy Hour is fantastic, $5 beers & wine and the HH snacks can literally be considered meals. Very nice size for being so inexpensive. It's a pretty casual setting but great for a cup of tea, something vegetarian even a beer. Always a nice time here.

I came here with a large group of friends and we enjoyed sitting on the patio for hours and hours chatting. It was a weekday so we weren't preventing anybody else from getting a table. The fried pickles were interesting as they were new for me, but everyone else really enjoyed them. I liked the chicken strips and the marinara sauce was a nice refreshing touch to your typical ranch or ketchup, dipping sauce.

Another outstandingly good lunch at Hugo's. The parking lot is almost always full. They take OpenTable reservations. Everything is excellent on the menu with so many V/V+ options your head spins - because you can combine anything with anything here. Light and delicate dressings, over the top salads, my favorite green casserole with cheeze, the desserts are tasty and almost healthy. The various juices and smoothies are definitely healthy. Love their (not) pastrami on rye sandwich! Pasta Mamas are so comforting. Eat everything here and feel the positive energy just overwhelm you about how this place keeps going for decades with the healthiest sustainable food on the planet next to pure raw. It can get a bit noisy so I wouldn't call it intimate but the outer ring patio is a bit more peaceful than the jumping inside seating. And some of the best coffee that better than most specialty shops.

Hugo's, thanks for the service, the kindness, the food elevations, the ambiance and so many years. Located on the cusp of Sherman Oaks, bordering Valley Village and outer Studio City, this Coldwater Canyon adjacent (one of two locations) restaurant resides on Riverside Drive across from the Mariposa Hotel and neighbors Whole Foods, Hugo's Tacos and several local businesses and residences, making it feel like a slice of home. I've been coming to Hugo's - Studio Oaks (Studio City + Sherman Oaks) or rather Sherman Village (Sherman Oaks + Valley Village) on and off for the last ten plus years or so. It's cozy inside charm and outdoor patio (added on during the last five years) have set the mood for some great experiences and meals with many for me including a pretty cool birthday brunch with some choice friends/chosen family. I knew we'd be a group of at least ten or more so I wanted to make a reservation online (they use OpenTable), but for parties larger than four it's best to call in and with some notice (I gave a little over a week). One of my favorite things about Hugo's is how they accommodate a variety of foodie preferences, restrictions and/or allergens. From vegetarian to vegan to gluten free and more, Hugo's is here to serve #ConsciouslyDelicious I recommended the Cinnamon Swirl French Toast to my friend Fabrice, the only other vegan in my party and he loved them! I went with the vegan version of the Chilaquiles (the best I've had at Hugo's to date) and my friend Barrak had the classic version. Among our group it was a brunch smorgasburg of so many things from pancakes to eggy dishes like the Huevos Rancheros, Breakfast scramble and so forth. Beverages followed the same suite with fresh hot coffee, juice, soft drinks, teas, waters and adult beverages.... Mimosas, including bottomless mimosas were had! Having enjoy meals and beverages at all times of day here, for so long - I have to say I'm proud of how they've continued to grow, thrive and improve. Happy Hour specials as well as monthly menu item specials like their breakfast salad, shepherd's pie (can be made vegan and/or gluten free) and baked apple crumble are so many choice things to check out and enjoy. They have private parking in their lot, but it does fill up quite fast for breakfast and brunch on weekends. Street parking is ample, though may be a journey. Well worth it! Easy + super clean restrooms. Free wi-fi. Pup/pet friendly. Family friendly. All welcoming.

    Always full!

I went to Hugo's and had one of the BEST dining experiences ever. The food was great, but the service? Next level. Huge shout-out to Eric -- he wasn't even our server, yet my Coke Zero never hit empty once. He kept it full the entire time, lemon perfectly placed, like he had a sixth sense for when I needed a refill. That kind of attention is rare, and honestly, it made my whole meal. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and on top of things, but Eric went above and beyond in a way I'll seriously never forget. Hugo's, you've got a gem on your team. I'll be back -- and I'll be looking for Eric!

Decided to try a few different items on the menu. We started with the Muay Thai Wing Kicks, which were absolutely amazing--perfectly crispy soy chicken wings with a great lemongrass flavor and topped with crispy basil. (Side note: we took the sauce home because it was so good lol) We also ordered the Tom Kah Kai soup which had that perfect hot-and-sour coconut broth flavor i always look for. Followed by the Pad Thai with tofu. All of the Asian dishes were so good. My husband went a different route and ordered the Burrito from their "Little Mexico" section. It comes with minced soy chicken, brown rice, black beans and cashew cheese. He thought it was just okay compared to other items we ordered. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. We noticed their take out was busier than dine in because i counted no less than 8 drivers plus another 3-4 pickup orders came in while we were there. And we were there pretty late.

That being said, We were in NoHo, and saw "The Vegan & More" in Studio City, so we made a detour, and decided to give this establishment a try. The address for this place is simple, however, when you look for the marquee that reads "The Vegan & More" you don't see it. What you do see is at the same address (and they happen to have a Yelp Page for that restaurant too BTW) is the Jumpin Java Kitchen, which has been there since 1995! As you can see from the photos, this place that first attracted us to come, is not a full blown restaurant, nor a pop-up (that we also passed on this a.m.) but a page from the menu from another restaurant. To me, this is what one would call BAIT AND SWITCH. Now let's get on to what was ordered.. My wife ordered the Vegan Egg Scramble.. and mind you, the photo that they showcase both on Yelp and Google, is FAR FROM what they served. The key to this dish is the vegan egg... not the veggies... .and you can see from our posted photos, from this a.m. there's barely anything there... which is why my wife didn't eat it. Now there are a few things that really bug me here... 1. The Vegan & More should not have a page on Yelp,a and Yes, I am going to complain, as when we arrived at the address, there's absolutely NOTHING there to say we were in the right place, other than the address. Also when we asked the server, he confirmed they have Vegan Options.. Not once was the name "Vegan & More" mentioned! 2. Portions, what you advertise from your photos, IS NOT what you serve. Forget about the overabundant of "home potatoes" that costs you nothing, but the very key of the meal, for a vegan to eat, you barely put anything on... yet while your photos show otherwise... 3. When the server asked if we wanted a box, and we refused, you would think the owner would be notified that the meal hasn't be touched... but no.. nothing. We got the check, paid WAY TOO MUCH for barely anything... Did I eat, yes, was it good, it was ok... but that's not why we were here... A new Vegan Restaurant in Studio City is what brought us here... However, FULL TRANSPARENCY is needed! Don't say one thing, and be something else... not even a mention to rebranding, nothing... Meals are rather affordable here and come in big portions, so you'll leave filling full. The pad thai tasted decent yet a little different from what I had at other restaurants. It was missing the amount of savoriness I was familiar with. However, it did have the sweetness that I've usually tried in pad thai from other restaurants. The soy meat did have a similar texture to that of traditional chicken, but it left an aftertaste that I didn't really like. The soy chicken had the same mostly sweet flavor as the noodles. It was even better putting lime on the noodles, and the vegetables helped in adding good flavor. As an appetizer, the fried tofu tasted good with the sweet and sour sauce. I was able to finish the whole appetizer before I got my noodles. The ambience was quiet as I was the first customer, but it gradually got louder as more people arrived. There was a mosquito that bit me, so that wasn't fun. Looking back, it's ironic that this happened inside a vegan restaurant. That aside, I was regularly checked in on by the staff and had my water refilled. Service is definitely a strength here, and it was nice seeing locals talk with the staff.

I started with the vegan chicken salad, and it was honestly such a pleasant surprise. It was fresh, creamy, filling and came with warm bread on the side. It is a great option for someone who wants something a little lighter without leaving hungry. The California Hamburger was also solid and came loaded with guacamole and fresh toppings, but the asada tacos completely stole the show. The soy asada was packed with flavor, and once I added their house salsa, I was officially addicted. I also tried the Special Pizza. I am not usually a pizza person, but I completely understand why this one is so popular. It was loaded with toppings, had a good crust and tasted even better with a little extra spice. For drinks, I had the horchata and the Vampire Juice made with carrot, orange and beets. Both paired really well with the food. Leonor's is currently asking the community for support, so this is a great time to pull up, bring a friend and discover a longtime local spot.

Been blown away by everything. My bf who has been scarred by some 100% vegan restaurants in the past tried a bite of my bowl and went back for at least 10 more bites. The true test.

I recently tried out El Cocinero's food at an event that they catered to. As a person who eats meat and is not restricted, I would come here for the good food. The vegan al pastor had chunks of pineapple and it is seasoned and cooked to taste just like the meat version. The texture is just a little bit different but it does resemble a lot like meat. The vegan pastor also tastes just like the meat version, just less "smoky" and the texture is softer. The rice is flavorful and fluffy. The beans are seasoned just enough to have flavor but not compete with the other dishes. The creamy chipotle sauce was perfect topping the rice and beans. I do like vegan food but the only reference I had with Mexican vegan are places that try to add fake cheese and lean heavily on beans and rice. This business shows that you can still have all the flavors and not rely on cheese and meat. They focus on the flavors and not what would make non-vegans feel comfortable. Initially, I was going to give this first time experience a 4 star review so that it encourages me to go check out the restaurant so I can add the service and the ambiance. However, I was lucky enough to bring home leftovers and as I was eating it, the food tastes better. Had to add the extra star!
