Sam is the only "pest" control guy (they aren't pests to me!) in Los Angeles County who uses *exclusively humane* methods for handling animals such as coyotes, raccoons, skunks, opossums, squirrels, rats, mice, and other cute critters. No poisons, and no inhumane traps like glue or steel-jawed traps. I worked with him myself when I found a clever mouse sneaking in to eat my cat Cupcake's food (she was completely unphased, simply watching him as if he was her guest!). Sam helped us humanely trap the mouse and release him into our yard, and then created custom fittings for the crawl spaces under our house, and a few openings Sam identified in our roof, to prevent any future furry visitors. I have attached a few photos for reference, but note that the installations were done in April 2019 and the crawl space pictures were taken in May 2025--look how well they have held up after 6 years and many weather events, from the Santa Ana winds to heavy rainstorms! Sam's construction is super solid--in fact, his background in carpentry and ability to provide custom construction solutions is yet another trait that sets him apart. "Pest" control companies, by California law, have two options when they trap an animal: 1) release the animal on site/within 300 feet (preferred and best for the animal) or 2) immediately euthanize them, usually by gassing them with CO2, though injections and shooting are also approved methods. That's why it's important to work with an expert like Sam; not only does he emphasize prevention and deterrents, like wildlife-proofing your home before critters can get in, but if an animal does happen to make their way into or under your house, he can also help you with humane catch and release so the animal can remain in their territory and near their families. Most companies will opt to kill, but Sam makes sure the animal is released freely and unharmed, while securing your home so they can't get in again. We had a family of ground squirrels move in under our brick paver patio. The patio is old and there was a gap where the mom relocated her eight young ones underneath. I watched her carrying one or two; then I noticed there were several more when they all popped out one day from under the patio! I do not use pesticides or herbicides on my property but I did not want the squirrels to move in permanently. I called Humane Pest Control to find out whether they could help me figure out how to move the squirrels on. Sam came out and did the following: -Assessed the patio area as well as other pointing out other areas where rodents might be able to get access. -Applied repellant product to newspaper and lined the opening that led beneath the patio with treated newspaper. This was to encourage the squirrels to leave the patio shelter. -Set up a wildlife camera to monitor squirrel activity in the area. After a week, we mutually determined that the squirrels had relocated themselves. I think mom relocated her young pretty soon after the repellant-treated newspaper was in place. When we were sure the squirrels were gone, Sam's associate came by to seal the opening. This step ensured that the squirrels could not return and to prevent other animals from accessing the space. Sam's associate also sealed off a few other places that had been identified as potential access points for rodents and nesting birds (except for one nest that had a pair; must wait until the nest is vacant). I contacted Humane Pest Control when I realized a skunk was using my crawlspace as an Airbnb. The 2 main doors to my crawlspace were no longer functioning properly, as well as the screening on some of my crawlspace vents were torn and vegetation overgrown around the openings any yard. This was very inviting to critters and my yard had been host to feral cats (spayed/neutered), raccoons, opossums and for the first time, a skunk. I previously had 2 other companies out to assess the situation, but due to cost and overall flakiness of previous companies, I did not go through with the repairs. My main concern was something being trapped under my house when the space was closed up and I didn't really want to trap any animals, I just wanted them to move along to a better place. One more happy animal lover here. With Sam's and Juan's help, we were able to trap and release 8 rats easily after he sealed up the base of the hose. They provided excellent advice about how to set the trap, where to put it, what to put into it, how to place the food so that the rat has to step on the lever to get it. But there was one super smart mama rat who understood the traps, wouldn't go in, and seemed to be able to get in and out still. Sam and Juan brought in these brilliant "rat tracker" boxes which get the rats feet covered in fluorescent orange powder that lights up at night with a black light. That worked beautifully and led him to a hole in the eaves of the roof! Once we patched that up, we were able to catch and release the mama rat too. Highly recommend Humane Pest Control. We began hearing rats scurrying in our walls beginning of 2024. As an animal lover, I wanted to search for a company that ethically removes the rats from the home without using poison or killing traps. Sam and his team at Humane Pest Control were wonderful to work with! They answered my call immediately and were able to schedule a consultation for the next day. They came to the house and assessed how the rats were entering the house. That week, they made all the necessary repairs and set traps in the attic and basement. I discovered a den of COYOTES under my crawlspace, at least 4 pups and 2 adults! After my discovery, i heard a young lady on the streets screaming for help and running with her dog! I immediately opened my door and offered safety for the lady and her dog. I called 911 and they referred me to animal control-who was not available. i posted on Nextdoor and was luckily referred to Rebecca, CEO of Humane Wildlife Control Inc. who came to my rescue immediately, calmed me down and assessed my situation. She then consulted her partner Sam with Humane Pest Control who came out right away and assessed the perimeter of my home for entryways for coyotes or any other unwanted guest. Wow...what a great guy. Sam was to very helpful. We had a family of rats enjoying life in my kitchen and livingroom. Nothing I tried would work and I didn't have the heart to use an inhumane traps. I have a dog so I didn't want to put out any poison. And didn't want any poison to get to other animals outside. Sam suggested the best traps to use and within 5 days I caught 4 "youth" rats. (I happily released them to the outside world!) Mom rat was not so easy. She was very smart and avoided the traps. But with Sam's help all accesses to my house were closed off and finally mama rat left and we finished closing off the last opening. Whew! Humane Pest Control was great - I got the referral from the local Humane Society. I had another company do a racoon "eviction". However, I have a 1920's tile roof, and they were not careful when they went up to examine the vents where the racoon had entered. Humane Pest Control was thorough and careful. They made sure to close up any possible openings to keep future racoon entries. In addition, I asked them to inspect to make sure rodents weren't entering through any openings. Although this company does not exterminate, they did a VERY thorough job of finding openings (including placing cameras around the attic and basement areas) and were able to close up any entry points. I think this is the first time in 20 years I haven't heard rodent scampering in my attic. I HIGHLY recommend this company. They are professional and thorough. read more

I was sorry to find myself with a mouse problem earlier this year because I don't like to kill animals or make them suffer, or put poisons into the food chain. We had a guest show up in our kitchen, and using a small camera were able to get a picture of a cute little rat. I called Humane Pest Control based on the good reviews, and everything turned out great. Not only did they evaluate the whole house and seal off a bunch of openings we had, but we were able to use their cameras to track the rat's movement at night and make sure there weren't more, and we trapped it safely and were able to release it humanely and have had no repeat visitors.
