Overall our food came all at different times, they got one of our orders completely wrong, and the chicken itself was incredibly dry and way too burnt. We came on a Saturday afternoon with a party of 3 and each persons dish came individually with such a long gap in between that basically one person ate and finished their plate at a time. Our last friend had his wrap order messed up and took even longer to eat (probably 20 min after everyone else had finished). The chicken was very very dry and had a ton of charring/burnt pieces that we ended up asking for more ketchup to help eat it with. The server forgot out ketchup order so we ended up walking up to ask for more ketchup and was handed a measly two packets (as if ketchup was really expensive)? Later the same server came by with a side of pita - I think she misheard our original ask for ketchup and somehow thought we wanted more bread instead? Wow I am so surprised by the service I just received. We order from hummus twice a week. They once messed up on my order and I didn't say anything because it happens so I made sure to ask for the correct chicken I have received in the past. I called back to add onto my order and now triple check. I was met with disappointment and disrespectful staff. The staff called back to make sure I will be picking up my order since it was a pretty big one. They said they will fix my order that the previous staff messed up and was very disrespectful about. The excuse was that she was new. I'm not sure if that was true or not but nonetheless. My workplace and I order here two times a week at least 6 of us at a time. Decided to try out this place because it seems popular and highly rated on Yelp! Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience there. A few things: we were told they were out of lamb and beef gyros when we were there and so we ordered the chicken gyros instead. We also got the moussaka. The service was alright but it surprised me that the waiters didn't seem to know how to pronounce the entree names. We also didn't expect the chicken gyros to simply be roasted chicken and the pita bread tasted like it was just microwaved. The moussaka was also quite small compared to the rest of the plate (maybe only 15% of the plate?) and was a bit too cheesy, definitely lacking bechamel. Nearly the end of the dinner, we also discovered a bug in the purple cabbage salad, which was really unappetizing. It was not enough bread for a sampler that costs $18. We had to pay for extra bread for the appetizer sampler when it was technically free. Then they did not bring it out the pita bread. We had to ask for it. Then they said they only like to bring a little to keep the pita bread hot? That would be a good explanation if we actually got the pita bread. There is a health/wellness fee with each order which I didn't see advertised anywhere on the wall menu. I rather dining establishments charge more for their items than trying to hand off the medical expenses to the customer. Then you are shocked by the extra charge when you see the bill. There should be an option to opt out of it if requested like in Chicago. They did give us free pistachio baklava. That was nice. The food looked good and reasonably priced (especially when compared to some of the other Castro Med. establishments). Also liked that the lamb and beef wasn't too salty. We also got the hummus flight to share, and my coworker got the salmon wrap - which he liked. Hummus flight was a good move so that we were able to taste them all. Favorite was the olive and feta hummus, with the regular ole hummus coming in at second place. The beet hummus was good, though a little sweet to eat as a whole serving - great as a small portion. And the chipotle hummus was good as a small portion as well because it had a little more heat than I wanted. The pita bread was the only thing that didn't impress, it was pretty average, but still a good vessel to scoop some hummus into your mouth. Food took a little while to come out, but everything tasted really fresh, definitely would prefer that over having everything ready and out quick. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. At around 9:40pm, a staff member named Üma, young girl with long hair, came to our table and insisted on taking away our tea cups and tea pot, even though we were still drinking them. She said they had closed at 9:30, but instead of letting us finish politely, she demanded to take them away and wanted us to leave, then proceeded to clean the table whilst we were packing to leave. We visited this restaurant yesterday with a friend and sat on the patio. After enjoying our lahmacun, we ordered tea and were still drinking it when a tall girl with long reddish/orange hair, named Uma, came over. She asked if she could clear the table, and when I said we were still drinking our tea, she insisted and said, "Yes, if possible." What shocked us even more is that she took the tea away while our cups were still half full, with tea in them, and while there was still tea left in the thermos we had paid for. We hadn't finished what we ordered, yet it was taken from us without giving us the chance to enjoy it. Even if the kitchen closes at 9:30, when customers are still sitting and enjoying their tea outside, it's not acceptable to pressure them to leave or take away what they've paid for. This was very rude and unprofessional behavior. We've been loyal customers of Hummus for a long time, but this experience made us feel disrespected. The two staff members at the counter with black hair are always very sweet, smiling, and welcoming. However, Uma's attitude was extremely rude and dismissive, and it left us with a very negative impression. Wow, where do I start with this review? I've heard great things about the food from Hummus from my coworkers so decided to order dinner delivery. There was an issue with our order (we have dietary restrictions) and when I called the restaurant to inquire, I spoke with Sidar who was so helpful and gracious with his concern for us and his response. He wanted to make it right in whatever way possible, including speaking to his staff and the other branches so this wouldn't happen again. He invited us to come back and have a meal that was made correctly which we were so grateful for. Sidar absolutely went above and beyond with taking responsibility and for taking care of us. On to the food... it was absolutely delicious. This is a Yelp review and in addition to stellar service, the food is at the heart of this review. In total, we tried their falafel wrap, spanakopita, stuffed eggplant, Turkish breakfast board (made vegetarian) which came with amazing black tea, fresh hot pita, shakshuka, menemen, and a fresh salad. Then for dessert we had baklava and chocolate mousse cake. To say that we were stuffed would be an understatement. Every single dish was so fresh and flavorful. Not a wilted leaf in the salad, falafels were crispy outside without being dry, all of the dips were delicious and paired well with the amazing pita. Hummus was extra creamy. The spicy sauce for the falafel wrap was stellar. At the end of the meal, Sidar even went next door to get me an extra vegan dessert as their desserts are vegetarian and he didn't want me to feel left out.
