    Blazing Bird Salad
    Ethan C.

This place is located inside the State Street Market food hall. We were looking for some GOOD salads on a rainy November day so decided to give it a try, and my tastebuds left nicely tingled with chickeny and ranchy goodness! We ordered the Blazing Bird salad, which comes with chicken, pico de gallo, avocado, black beans, and corn. One bite in and I immediately noticed how chilled all the ingredients were, like they had just been taken out of the fridge -- even the grilled chicken! I typically prefer the protein in salads to be warm. But I can see this as a very refreshing salad on a hot day. The chicken had a tantalizing grilled char flavor, and all the other ingredients tasted very fresh including the romaine lettuce. I feel like it was missing some cheese, however. And why does the ranch come in a plastic wrapper? The food came out fast in just a few minutes, and I like the rustic aesthetic of the bowl it's served in. Seating is cafeteria style since it's in a food hall. Overall, what a fresh-tasting salad! Would come back to try the other options.

You'll find The Good Salad in the State Street Market food hall! I love this location because it brings a sense of community and fun! There are lots of options to choose from for everyone. They even have special events throughout the week. We came on trivia night! I ordered the samurai steak salad! The service staff are very friendly. You get a hefty bowl filled with vibrant and fresh salad fixings, and a generous amount of dressing! For me, the steak was seasoned with a little too much pepper and was a little on the tough/dry side.

Made my own salad. Soooooo good, esp. with the hot sauce, side of fresh baked bread, and ginger beer with guava

2nd time trying this place since its close to my dentistry. I created my own salad this time and it turned out pretty good, and filling! I got arugula, grape vinaigrette, chickpeas, quinoa, feta cheese, medjool dates, toasted almonds, and green onions, with their signature good glaze. I ate the whole bowl. I was wanting something with strawberry but I also understand most places only have that fruit for summer salads. Either way, I had a pleasant experience in a cool dining hall overall. The gentlemen behind the counter were pleasantly helpful and glad to answer any of my questions. Since I went on a Friday afternoon, parking was easy and inside was also nice and quiet. Some people working on their laptops and others quietly chatting in small groups.

Good Salad was...good! Located at the food court in State Street Market in Los Altos, I ordered the Steak Supreme. Considering I had just worked out right beforehand, the salad was the perfect post-workout meal I needed. The greens, meat, and assortment of add-ons and flavors definitely hit all the macronutrients I needed for the day. The overall service and ambiance of Good Salad is difficult to describe considering it's in a mid-sized food hall, but it's good to come with friends and family since it's a relatively loud and lively atmosphere. I remember the workers looked around high school aged, really diligent with the service. I've personally had similar quality salad for a cheaper price than the $15 I paid for the Steak Supreme, so I don't have a strong reason to give this place 5 stars. Nonetheless, it's a decent place to try if you're near the Los Altos downtown area.

Create Your Own Salad w/ Cajun chicken, spring mix, and toppings

Friendly service, pretty generous portion, plentiful toppings--overall, a good salad. I built my own salad, though the blazing bird signature salad did sound fire and was $1 less than customizing your own. They don't have kale as a base option unfortunately, but do offer arugula, spring mix, and romaine lettuce. I got the spring mix with Cajun chicken. They had a good variety of toppings; I got edamame, beets, radish, bean and corn pico, and pickled onions and they made for a great, filling meal. I also got the chipotle ranch dressing and thought it was fine and had a strong chipotle flavor. We were content with our quick and fresh salads (:

4 for 4! Just "hit for the cycle" at The Good Salad: I've eaten at all 4 locations. These are delicious salads. I've advanced to the "create your own salad" option and I love trying new combinations of ingredients. I really enjoy combining sweet flavors like candied pecans with sour flavors like pickled onions in my salads. Id say the pesto ceezer is my favorite dressing. The dressings are so rich that I recommend using less than the full packet, including just a touch of their "good glaze." My only suggestion is that they use sliced avocados without any lemon juice instead of their fresh mash as the lemon juice changes the flavor. Service is always exceptionally friendly. The owner must make it a nice play to work.

    Disappointing Yuzu Iced Tea
    Joshua L.

It's not bad. But I do believe that everyone can literally find a better salad with better proportions with a similar price point elsewhere. Example/ I got the Blazing Bird Salad ($16.50~) which tasted okay. The salad was too chilled, even the chicken bits were cold and I didn't like that. It is very similar to the Cancun salad served at Crepevine but the Cancun salad comes with way bigger portions, put on top of a spinach tortilla that you can use to eat some of your salad like a wrap, and comes with hot grilled chicken. As for the drink, it also wasn't bad but it didn't blow my mind. And It was over $7 for a small cup of yuzu iced tea that was already prepped and laid out in the fridge section to grab. I'd rather they serve the tea with a cooler instead. Also, extra dressing is $2 each. What? Don't be fooled. Just grab a salad elsewhere for your wallet and your hunger.

Wow! My team ordered from them for lunch, and the salad was incredibly fresh. Since it was delivered, each ingredient was thoughtfully separated rather than mixed together, making for a great presentation. I can't rate the service and ambience because it was ordered through uber eats. Definitely ordering from them again.

The service was quick and friendly. We ordered from the screen and the food was delivered to our table which I didn't expect. The Samurai Steak salad is a must! Also ordered the seasonal/limited time Wild Watermelon salad which was soooo good. We didn't realize that the shop was inside the State Street Food Hall so we walked around the building before going inside. There's plenty of tables inside and out of the hall and about 7 other places to try. But my go to will always be The Good Salad! Super excited for their next location in Campbell!

Samurai Steak Salad from The Good Salad

I was in Los Altos with my friends, and we stopped by State Street Market for lunch. I decided to try the Samurai Steak Salad from The Good Salad, and it did not disappoint. It featured Certified Angus Beef Steak topped with Dynamite Mayo and Roasted Sesame Seeds, served over a mix of Organic Spring Greens, Chopped Romaine, Diced Persian Cucumber, Shredded Carrots, Roasted Peanuts, Sliced Scallions, and Edamame. The salad was finished with The Good Glaze and a House Sweet Sesame Dressing on the side. Every bite was incredible--the dressing perfectly complemented the fresh, flavorful ingredients. Hands down, one of the best salads I've ever had. I'll definitely be back! The Good Salad inside State St. Market, Los Altos, CA.

I wish someone told me sooner about this place for affordable salads at just $14! Dive into the fresh, flavorful world of The Good Salad where quality meets quick convenience. Each salad is made with fresh ingredients, and prepared daily. New brunch item: Focaccia smoked egg sandwich, using homemade focaccia bread, egg, mayo, and Za'atar, was a delicious combination with chai. Blazing Bird: Spice up your day with Chipotle Ranch, zesty Cajun chicken, and a splash of Good Glaze. Perfect for those who love a little kick! Steak Supreme: Savor the rich layers of steak, bacon, and blue cheese, drizzled with Buttermilk Ranch. It's a premium blend for meat lovers! Samurai Steak: my favorite! Channel your inner warrior with a Samurai steak salad mixed with Sweet Sesame dressing and dynamite mayo, topped with a crunch of roasted peanuts and edamame. Every bite is customizable to fit your cravings, whether you're in the mood for something creamy, crunchy, spicy, or smoky. Service was super fast, and salads are so fresh, and made just for each person.

The restaurant's ambiance is thoughtfully designed, with a modern yet welcoming atmosphere that elevates the overall dining experience. The only minor drawback was our table's proximity to the kitchen. During the lunch rush, it became quite busy, making it somewhat difficult to hear our server at times. Speaking of service, the staff was attentive, efficient, and accommodating throughout our visit. Our server moved quickly despite the bustling crowd and graciously attended to all of our requests. Now, onto the food. I genuinely believe this may be one of the best tofu soups in the Bay Area. We ordered the spicy Alaskan Tofu Soup, and it exceeded expectations. The broth had a rich, velvety consistency with just the right level of heat. The tofu was silky smooth, and the seafood was cooked perfectly. The Alaskan snow crab and shrimp added a luxurious touch to an already exceptional dish. While we didn't notice much of the abalone, it certainly didn't detract from the overall experience. We also ordered the Wagyu patty, which was equally impressive. The meat was tender, flavorful, and unmistakably Wagyu. What truly stood out was the bed of scallions underneath, which added a wonderful depth and brightness that complemented the richness of the beef. I only realized this after taking a few bites and wish I had enjoyed them together from the start, as the combination was outstanding. Overall, this is an easy 5/5. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of the ingredients and execution more than justify the cost. It's rare to find a tofu soup featuring premium seafood such as Alaskan snow crab in the Bay Area, and this restaurant delivers a unique experience that's well worth seeking out. There was no line (compared to Chinese restaurants on Castro Street). Looking at the menu, I was blown away by the variety of pho noodle combinations. Oxtail? Seafood including calamari? Sounded so yummy. I sat down and was given the menu quickly. The pho noodle bowl I ordered was seafood with meatballs. I ordered the standard size rather than the large bowl. It was plenty for me! The soup base was clear. I ordered the egg noodles rather than standard pho rice noodles. Very tasty! I couldn't finish the bowl so I took away a portion of it. The décor was spare with photos of Vietnam scenes. For a meal of pho, the price is probably average for Mountain View. It is less than the cost of a bowl of ramen or fancy hotpot. I enjoyed the pho and will return to try other dishes. The veggies were fresh!

I personally liked how the chicken was skinless and was the breast.

Los Altos is a quiet, sleepy town, and it's not exactly the first place you'd expect to find a Vietnamese spot, but this place is a gem that I really hope the locals support so it can thrive. * The Service: The service was standout. There was one young man handling both the register and the tables; he was incredibly friendly and had a big smile for everyone. He even gave my son a free smoothie that had been from a misplaced order, which my son absolutely loved. That kind of hospitality goes a long way. * The Food: I always believe you measure a Vietnamese restaurant by its Pho. It's the staple that gives you a window into the rest of the menu. * The Broth: For me, the broth is everything. You could have Wagyu or Kobe beef, but if the broth is bad, the whole bowl falls apart. I'm happy to say the broth here was excellent--flavorful, clean, and tasted fresh. Most importantly for me: it was served piping hot. Anything less than hot can ruin the experience, but they nailed the temperature. * The Meat & Sides: As you can see from the photo, the meat quality is a step above what you usually get. It was tender, textured, and full of flavor. All the sides--the sprouts, basil, and lemon--were noticeably fresh. * Popcorn Chicken: My son ordered this, and to be honest, it was pretty "meh." It seemed like your standard processed frozen bag variety, though it was at least fried to order. * The Price: At $19 for a bowl of Pho, some might call it the "Los Altos tax." However, when you consider that most bowls everywhere else are in the $15+ range now and don't offer this level of beef quality or such a well-crafted broth, the premium feels justified. You're paying for better ingredients. * The Environment: It is a modern, clean, and quiet space. While I love the energy of a bustling Castro Street, sometimes it's nice to have a peaceful place to eat closer to home. Now that I've found this, I don't have to drive far when a Vietnamese food craving hits! * The Bottom Line: Based on how good the Pho was, I'll definitely be back to work my way through the Banh Mi and the rest of the menu. If you're in the area, give this place a chance--it's high-quality, convenient, and deserves to be a local favorite. * Quick update - I came back the next day for a Banh MI sandwich, and when it was rung up - $15! It was quite a surprise, because all over the menu the sandwiches were listed as $9.95. A bad experience, and no banh mi is worth that much! Docking a star.
