Wow, where do I start with this review? I've heard great things about the food from Hummus from my coworkers so decided to order dinner delivery. There was an issue with our order (we have dietary restrictions) and when I called the restaurant to inquire, I spoke with Sidar who was so helpful and gracious with his concern for us and his response. He wanted to make it right in whatever way possible, including speaking to his staff and the other branches so this wouldn't happen again. He invited us to come back and have a meal that was made correctly which we were so grateful for. Sidar absolutely went above and beyond with taking responsibility and for taking care of us. On to the food... it was absolutely delicious. This is a Yelp review and in addition to stellar service, the food is at the heart of this review. In total, we tried their falafel wrap, spanakopita, stuffed eggplant, Turkish breakfast board (made vegetarian) which came with amazing black tea, fresh hot pita, shakshuka, menemen, and a fresh salad. Then for dessert we had baklava and chocolate mousse cake. To say that we were stuffed would be an understatement. Every single dish was so fresh and flavorful. Not a wilted leaf in the salad, falafels were crispy outside without being dry, all of the dips were delicious and paired well with the amazing pita. Hummus was extra creamy. The spicy sauce for the falafel wrap was stellar. At the end of the meal, Sidar even went next door to get me an extra vegan dessert as their desserts are vegetarian and he didn't want me to feel left out. My parents and I literally have never been treated so well by a restaurant and I will no doubt be bringing all of my friends and family here in the future. read more

Went to the art and wine festival over the weekend and we were looking for something that wasn't an arm and a leg. Ended up here. Met the owner and he was very pleasant, as was the entire staff from the front counter to the people who brought out our food and cleaned our plates. The chicken was super tender, juicy and full of flavor. The pita bread, amazing Salad, legit. Not a fan of hummus, but I couldn't stop eating this plate. For sure recommend to anyone in the area. Never heard of HMK until it opened recently. Called in a order of the classic hummus and lamb/beef gyro plate. The order was ready in about 10 minutes, pretty quick. They forgot to include the pita that comes with the hummus. The classic hummus was good though. Definitely can taste the garlic and it was smooth and creamy. The lamb and beef gyro plate was tasty. The newest location of Hummus Mediterranean Kitchen has opened in Downtown Mountain View, and is located on Castro Street (near the Eureka!). The restaurant is super new and modern, and very clean. It wasn't busy yet at 5:15pm on a Friday, and it was about a 20 minute wait for my takeout order. Since they just opened recently, I'm sure they're still working out the new opening kinks, and their consistency should continue improving. The hummus was definitely the best part of the meal, and it was smooth and creamy, and great with the pita. Unfortunately, the combo plate was less successful for my visit. I loved that they had this option where you could try so many different proteins; however, I didn't love any of the meats I tried on this visit. The beef kebab was the best out of everything, but it didn't have much flavor. The koftedes and chicken kabob needed more sear on the outside, and they were strangely chewy. The lamb and beef gyros were super salty, and difficult to eat. Most of the combo plate consisted of the Greek salad, which was overdressed. The rice was alright, but a little overcooked. I hope the kitchen takes note of feedback from their customers. If in the area, I would return to try their hummus flight (classic, olive/feta, chipotle, beet hummus) and other dips. Both indoor and outdoor seating was available. Parking can be difficult during the lunch and dinner rushes. Since Castro Street is still blocked off, you'll need to park on the side streets. I loved this restaurant. Really quality ingredients. The chicken kebabs are delicious. The plate comes with fluffy rice, salad with tahini dressing, pickled cabbage, and a side of fluffy pita. Try the hot sauce on the table. It's like a a creamy habanero sauce. Order at the counter. They took the time to explain the menu. Food came out quickly. They even have wine. I'm surprised the reviews are so high -- I ordered a lamb gyro in person (allegedly $13.95 on the menu), and they charged me $18.40. I thought maybe they'd added a side, but nope, just one small gyro for nearly 20 bucks. The food itself was alright, but the meat was pretty dry and sparse; my gyro was mostly lettuce. For two people we got one Falafel Wrap, one Chicken Gyro House Plate, and one Spanakopita. Food was ready for pick-up in 15 minutes. Chicken Gyro plate - half of the box was salad with dressing. The other half was split between sliced grilled chicken thigh and white rice. The pita bread was wrapped separately. I loved both the chicken and the salad. The grilled chicken was tender and juicy but also charred on the surface - very delicious. The salad was perfectly seasoned and had good texture from different ingredients. The portion of the plate was good for its price, but not as big as my favorite SAJJ salad bowl. Spanakopita - the wrap (phyllo pastry) was very crispy and puffy. However, there were too many layers of it, making the spanakopita very bread-y. There wasn't much filling inside, probably only ~20% of the entire volume. It's okay but not that good. I LOVE the Stanford mall location, so when I ended up MV around lunchtime, I stopped in to order my usual - the dried olive and feta hummus. Wow was really disappointed. The one from their PA location is so smooth and has pomegranate seeds. The one I got in MV was grainy, didn't seem to have the same flavor, and had no pomegranate seeds. It ended up getting thrown out -- that's how much I didn't like it. read more

Food is consistent - always great! We love the kebobs (chicken, kofta, and beef skewers are our favorite). The moussaka is very comforting and delicious as well. We get take out from here a lot, however did have a very bad experience once with a woman that worked here the first time we tried, ended up cancelling our order. I came here for the weekend Turkish breakfast. I ordered the little chef menemen. It's a dish of soft boiled eggs, tomato, onions and peppers. It is served with a side of pita bread. It was fresh and simple. Order at the counter, get a number and find a table. There's a self service water station to the right of the counter where you order and there were seven tables available for outdoor seating when I came on a Sunday around lunch time. The food is incredibly truly. I love the Greek salad with salmon and could probably eat it everyday. My problems with Hummus start with the atmosphere and time it takes to get my food. It feels like everyone treats the dining area like a living room. I don't think I've ever either received my food faster than 15-20 mins and also have never sat in the dining area without someone with their phone on full blast either watching videos or having a noisy conversation on speaker. This includes the workers as well who are also particularly noisy and inconsiderate of the customers. I debate coming here often and am even turned away occasionally because of those two issues even though the food is so good. read more

The food is phenomenal, well at least what i ordered as i can't speak for the meat options. I ordered the eggplant meal (which i'm pretty sure is vegan unless it has butter) i don't remember the name but i still think about it weekly and it is up there if one of my favorite dishes i've had. ever. You order at the counter and get a table number and then your dishes are brought to you. Restaurant has an airy, minimalist vibe with fake plants, as others have mentioned. Music was a little loud. Servers checked in throughout the meal. Ordered the kale salad and added chicken gyros. Salad included red quinoa, shaved parmesan, beets, oranges, tomato, and vinaigrette with a side of pita with tzatziki and house spicy sauce. Chicken was well-seasoned and not too dry. Very satisfying and a good portion size; I took home some leftovers. Pita was unimpressive (dry and grocery-store tasting), so I'd recommend some of the other places on Castro for more chewy and fluffy options. The spicy sauce had a nice kick! How can I explain this without exaggerating? This is truly the best food, period. I mean, I would eat here over any Michelin restaurant. I ordered it on DoorDash for the first time about a year ago and was blown away by the different hummus flavors. Since then, I've ordered many more times and also been to the restaurant a few times with my kids (who also love it.) The food is simply perfect. Tastes so good but is also fresh. The salads are always pristine. The baba ghanoush is next level awesome. I also order the ground beef stuffed eggplant which is incredible. Every time I go there, I make a note of the delicious meals that others order. Falafel looks amazing and will try next time. Beet Hummus is my favorite but all four are great. read more

However, the "health care service charge" did not show up when I paid. This is not about the $1 charge, but the restaurant is cheating on customers which we do not agree with. Reason 2: Insanely dirty restroom. No toilet paper nor seat paper. Unknown liquid on toilet seat. Reason 3: Dirty water glass. Reason 4: For over $18 lamb kabob I got 6 pieces of lamb, a scoop size rice, and a whole bunch of lettuce. It's not worth the value. Didn't take a photo of it but please imagine. read more

Great mediterranean place for a really good price. I always get their gyro platter and it comes with rice, salad and hummus. The place is super clean and there's enough seats for everyone. Their water is self serve and has a water dispenser on the side. This is me and my friend's go-to after the gym. Their baklava is really good as well.
