The salad was fine but the panini...it had gross black grill crud on the bread and the sandwich smelled burned. I remove 2 smaller pieces of the black crud and tried to eat 1/2 of the sandwich, but that's when I noticed the smell. Went back to the table and noticed the much larger piece of crud on the other half of the sandwich. I had to call them. The manager was apologetic and is processing a refund, but told me that the grills are cleaned daily. A grill needs to be cleaned throughout the day to avoid this type of issue. I also noticed quite a bit of debris on the floor behind the counter. What further got my attention was seeing one of the workers walk down the counter way and just grabbed a big handful of lettuce and walked all the way back to her work area carrying it...not a good look from a customer's perspective. I've never had an issue at this location before and I hope they get it together soon. The service was good even though we waited longer than usual for our order.

Eat, Drink, HTX…read more Made a reservation for a Sunday night dinner for three. The restaurant is so cute and cozy with tables and booths. Lots of TVs to watch the Olympic Games while you wait for dinner. I liked watching the open pizza oven. They make a lot of pizzas here. The Eat, Drink, HTX menus are a great way to try new restaurants while giving back to the Houston Food Bank. A starter, an entree and a dessert. $25 for dinner. So many choices on this menu. A great deal while helping out those in need. "Started" with the Turkey Samosas. Four crispy pastries that are filled with seasoned ground turkey, potatoes and parsley served with cucumber yogurt. Delicious! The Ember & Greens Soup that my family had was hot, hot, hot and so tasty. The fresh soup was filled with a blend of spinach, parsley, and cilantro with chickpeas, caramelized onions, pinto beans and quinoa. My FIL polished off his bowl! For dinner, we all had the Blackened Salmon. The salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa served on roasted carrots, broccoli and potatoes and a bed of quinoa. It was a full plate, which we all took home for dinner the next day. Note: it is quite buttery. My FIL had his butter and avocado salsa on the side which worked for him. I loved mine as is. Even though we were pretty full, we still enjoyed dessert. The tiramisu was so indulgent. Loved the layered mascarpone custard, whipped cream, coffee liqueur and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. My FLI had the Chia Seed Pudding with fresh berries. What a great meal. We had a slight hiccup where the appetizers came slightly after the main meal was served, but they were so honest about what happened that I still have to give them five stars for their food and their service. Would try them again for their generous, delicious meals. Lots of parking. Water glasses were frequently filled both with and without meals. Thank you for a really nice Sunday night dinner with family.

It was a beautiful day, so it would have been the perfect day to eat outside if you like that. I'm an eat indoors kind of person, but if you like to eat outside, they do have a few tables for that. I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested Ember & Green. We really couldn't decide what to order, so we decided to order a few things and share them. We started off with the Persian Cucumber Sald. It had Persian cucumbers, heirloom cherry tomatoes, red onions, and Kalamata olives with oil and lemon dressing and topped with parsley and feta cheese. Let me tell you, thats lemon dressing was delicious! It went so well with the cucumbers. Next we ordered Blackened salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa, served with charred broccolini, roasted carrots and potatoes on a bed of cilantro green pea quinoa. I'm really not a huge fan of salmon, but I'm trying to like it more by trying it different ways. The spices that they put on the salmon were really good, not too spicy, but also, not bland. It was also cooked perfectly. Oh, and that lemon butter... that lemon butter made the meal if you ask me. It was so good. So good in fact, I had to try and make salmon with lemon butter at him the very next week. Mine didn't come out as good as Ember & Greens, but it was decent. That just means that I need to leave the cooking to the professional. For dessert we decided to share the Skillet Cookie. Its a house made chocolate chip cookie baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with Amy's Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream and chocolate sauce. This was the only thing that we ordered that was a nope. I dont know what happened, but it didn't seem like it was cooked at all in the middle. We took a few bites, that was all we could eat of it. All and all, it was a good experience and I will go back. I'll just skip dessert next time.

Let us count the ways: * The vibe is relaxed. So relaxed as a matter of fact, I've yet to see this place crowded on any weekday or weekend. * The WiFi is fast and reliable. This alone is why I'll end up staying here without consuming at least 3 drinks in a single sitting. * There is plenty of seating. Outdoor seating is extensive and the interior is super group friendly. * Iced lattes skew on the sweeter side, but their cold brew also gets a thumbs up. * There is a dedicated meeting room / isolated space for meetings / meetups. That's big time. * Don't feel like stopping in? There's a drive-thru. * Customer service is on point. They're fast, courteous, and super friendly. * The ventilation is right and the place is clean. Especially the bathrooms. This is a winner in terms of a coffeeshop space. I realize the vibe isn't' for everyone, but it's one of the main reasons why I'll find myself in this space more often than not.

I wanted a pork chop or steak and saw this place and their pork chop. It looked great online. When I get there I ate at the bar. It was a coffee bar. Again- I should have done more research. So I was given a menu then I ordered the pork shop. And then the waiter said is that I and proceeded to give me my total. Another thing I have researched. It's counter service. Then I said I just wanted water. I waited for it and he said we have to help ourselves to drinks (later). So ok. Fine. Then later he told me they were out of pork chops. So I got the short ribs with the grits. The ribs were tender. They were tasty. The grits were good. The veg was good as well. I'd give the food a 4 but I would think, since they make their own pastries, they would make a bread to serve with dinner! But no bread so that drops it down a point or 2. I had ordered (pre-paid) for the bread pudding. It was good, legit bread pudding. The place itself is a coffee bar so it looks and acts like a coffee bar. Now to the coffee bar. Someone there ordered and espresso drink. They don't have a knock box and so he proceeded to knock out the very old puck into a trash can under the sink then rinsed it. Then the shot glass looked like it had been there unrinsed from the morning. Then as he proceeded to make the espresso- he had to fill the espresso machine (with tap water). Last- it was Aerosmith on repeat. I like them as much as the next guy, but how about some variety. I guess if I lived in the area I might go back to try their breakfast. Anyway- I ubered there and I wish now I would have just eaten at the hotel bar.

We were greeted and given menus. My wife likes Reuben sandwiches and I love and scour the planet for hamburgers. My wife ordered the Reuben and Rebecca with chips and pickles. She absolutely loved it and said it was the best Reuben since we left NYC 20 years ago. Like I said I am a hamburger aficianado. I will always take a burger over a steak. (not my wife, who thinks that is sacriligious). My bad was that I stopped reading when I read Cowboy Meal which was listed as a burger. It was an AWESOME looking plate and worth just looking at it BUT it was not a burger: it was a salisbury steak!!! I almost cried! On the plus side is that it had a lot of bacon!!! Was it tasty? Meh. Was it a juicy burger? No Way! My side was the smoked paprika salad which was very good. Leaving you walk past their desserts which even a blind person will stop in the tracks. I ordered to go a lemon bar which was very heavy and not skimpy and wife had their apple pie. They didn't make through the night!! The service was excellent and friendly. Will we come back? Absolutely for I want to try their burger. p.s. Really clean bathroom.
