Clean, pleasant dining room; a long list of pan- Asian dishes. We have eaten here twice; the first time our meals ( I can't even remember the dishes) were " meh," not terrible but not outstanding, but the second time we had tasty Singapore noodles and truly delicious cashew tofu -- it takes a lot for me to get excited about tofu, but this was crispy, caramelized and flavorful -- and good potstickers. Like all sequels.... It's not half as good as the original. After having burnt down, this restaurant is rebuilt and back open. I was SUPER excited as I had so very much missed the awesomeness of the Crispy Orange Shrimp and the excellent flavors of the Shrimp Fried Rice. Well..... something awful has transpired. Since they've re-opened I have ordered four dishes in two visits. The dine in experience was awful. The egg roll and Rangoon were supposed to come out first, and after 20 minutes the waiter said they are out of egg rolls, so I changed to soup. Five minutes later these arrived and were bland and generic. Then the waiter said that our meals will be ready as soon as my shrimp fried rice is done. Well, the entrees came out and instantly I was crushed. The Crispy Orange Shrimp was NOT the same as before. Instead of 5 large crispy breaded butterfly shrimp in a rich, spicy, flavorful sauce, this abomination was a heap of tiny salad shrimp in a mushy flour coating in a bland, vaguely orange flavored "sauce". BLECHH. The General Tso's was edible-ish, but not like any Tso's I've had elsewhere. Oh, and the Shrimp Fried Rice I waited a half hour for? He brought me CHICKEN FRIED RICE! For real?!?!? THEN, I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai and a Crunchy Roll (they've branched out to more than Chinese now...) to go. The roll was pathetic. Just barely bigger around than my thumb and weakly built with a dab of wasabi the size of a pencil eraser. The Pad Thai was worse yet! It looked more like a curry with visible specks of red powdered spices and an oily orange film left on the lid. It was bland, dry, had NO peanuts, cilantro, or lime, and was just wrong on every level. AND THEN on the 10th bite or so, I bit into A FRICKIN' CHUNK OF CLAM SHELL! Oyster, clam, mussel... I don't know which it was, but I dang near broke a tooth on it. Sadly, Hunan House has turned into a train wreck and will not be getting any more of my business this time around. :( read more

Ordered 2 takeouts on 04/28/2020, they told us it would be 10 minutes, turned out to be 20 minutes, waiting in their parking lot. Got order took it home, they forgot to put the egg rolls in our order. Called to let them know the egg rolls were not there. The lady was rude, told my husband I know they put them in with your order, my said told her, they were not there. So we had to waste our gas to drive back there, never offered money off our next order. The lady acted like we were lying about it. We will never go there again. read more

I have to say I'm very disappointed with Hunan. First, I don't even understand why this restaurant is called Hunan, cause Hunan actually is a place in China but in fact the food in this restaurant has nothing about Hunan. It's like a restaurant named Michigan, but it sells taco and nachos. Also, i was disappointed with the services. My friend and I were siting there about 20 minutes and no one takes our orders, even something to drink. And after we finished our appetizer, our entrees were never show up. Sushi rolls were good except missing some of the ingredients on the menu (spicy mustard, baked, crunch) which was odd. Appetizers are pretty good- tried the spring rolls, egg roll, and crab rangoon.. Not much filling in the crab rangoon though. Also tried sesame chicken which is nothing like any I have tried. The chicken was barely fried and in strips and had no sesame seeds.. Also very sweet and not spicy at all as listed.. I even asked the waitress if it was actually sesame chicken! I will give it a 3rd try but just ok so far.. read more

Been coming here for years and it's been building for me to just never return. Been 11 months before today. I ordered sweet and sour chicken. Two orders for the kids. The delivery driver came and I knew to check the food before he left bc it's normally always an issue with something and the owner that is a lady that says she don't own it, never believes anyone. So I told the driver that I need the sweet and sour. I called also because it seems things can never go right. As I was telling the female on the phone about needing the sweet and sour I thought there was also orange chicken in the meal. Turns out there wasn't and I told her. She said she had a driver right on the way. Wonderful. Guess what? 13 mins later the same driver is at my door saying how the BOSS the female wants him to check my food first. What?? Ok we ain't even ate yet bc we have not gotten the sweet and sour for SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN. So I called because who does that. Showed him our meal. Even told him I checked my bag with him there and he said I didn't ok! I just need the sauce. She wanted to argue like everyone else says. I ordered a meal and here we are 25 mins later and still not everything to eat the meal with. Who sends their employees back to see if the food is right or wrong over some sweet and sour for chicken?? Last time I'll ever order from this unprofessional business! Now that they are finally reopened after their fire, we decided to give it a try. Their food has gone downhill. The General Tso Chicken was not sweet enough. The egg roll was over done, half of it was burned. I had noticed that other customers' egg rolls were slightly burned as well. Not sure what is going on in the kitchen. The taste was a bit off. The Chicken fried rice lacked flavor. The chicken tasted as if it was boiled and then thrown in with the rice. The chicken had a weird texture to it, kind of gummy like. The prices are decent. There is no buffet here. Their menu has expanded though. They offer sushi rolls, teriyaki chicken, and several soups. I heard that their sushi rolls are decent. But, we gave it a try and we will not be coming back here again. read more

We asked for dinner portions but got lunch portions. They made it right with us by giving us each two lunch portions. However, the food was pretty terrible and greasy even for American Chinese food. I've been here twice since they re-opened. Both times have been excellent. The food was tasty and the service was great. There is a separate menu with tons more food selections that are not listed on their standard printed menu (just ask for it - - it might be their takeout menu). Their vegetarian options are numerous and tasty. You're not just served some gelatinous blob of tofu with sauce like other Asian cuisine inspired restaurants. The tofu was firm and crispy on the outside. I highly recommend the orange tofu and szechuan vegetables. Oh, and they have bubble tea! Honeydew is my favorite flavor so far. read more

I am beyond upset with the customer service and food that i received. I have been a long time customer of theirs and they did not believe me when i said my order was wrong and politely asked for money back in which they wouldn't do. They said they could deliver me a new meal and the driver gave me attitude and argued with me about whether or not the order instructions were right that i put on my order. Best customer service for delivery in Mount Pleasant. The four star rating is for the best sushi in the area, while the Chinese cuisine is better at some other places. However, they have amazing egg rolls and the most DELICIOUS crab cheese ragoons I've ever eaten. One of the staples in Mount Pleasant dining by far. read more

Hunan House has soft-opened again to the public. Unfortunately, the restaurant is smaller and the staff is new. I have gone twice since they reopened, and I have had similar problems both times. The food that came to the table was not hot. The rice was usually at least cool, and so was the chicken. Also, I ordered food that should have been spicy, and there was next to no spice to it at all. One drastic improvement that I did see from the first trip to the second was the sweet and sour sauce. The first time, it was basically pink water. There was no flavor at all. The second time, it was closer to how it should be. We went with friends the second time, and they requested iced tea. They were told that there wasn't any iced tea at the moment (nor was there any when they had a refill about 15 minutes later), so they poured hot tea into a large glass and added some ice. It was obviously far from cold, and not even close to the same type of flavor. They were also charged the price of iced tea, which is almost double that of the hot tea. Hopefully once they have all the kinks ironed out things will improve, but right now I'd say it's a place to avoid. read more
