    Spicy Angus Beef and rice

People were raving about this place on xiaohongshu (iykyk), but it did not live up to expectations. My friend is from hubei so she knew what she was talking about. It was just all right. For the exorbitant prices and long wait I wouldn't have settled for anything less than special. Instead the beef wasn't super flavorful while still having a bit of gameyness. I feel like I mainly tasted the sauce. The bamboo pork was interesting and everything was still good... But just good. I liked that there was lemon water though. We arrived at 8pm and yet there was still a wait. However the staff were very kind and attentive even though it was close to closing. The place was clean as well. I just was slightly let down by the food.

Got here around 6 PM and put ourselves on the waitlist since there was already a line. The restaurant is located in a plaza with plenty of parking, and there are a few boba shops right next door, so you can easily grab a drink while you wait. For a party of 6, we waited about ~30 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad at all. Once seated, the food came out really quickly, and both the food and service were great. We ordered everything mild spicy and did family style so we could try a little bit of everything. This is probably one of my new favorite Chinese food spots - the flavors tasted really authentic, and every dish we ordered was super tasty. My favorites were definitely the Couples Delight and Chongqing Chicken. Probably would skip the big grilled fish next time which was the most expensive thing on the menu. Overall, really enjoyed the experience. Good food, quick service, plenty of parking, and the wait wasn't too bad. Would definitely come back!

I first dined here with my boyfriend, and food was so good so I brought my parents here the following week. This is fairly popular so please expect a wait during peak hours. A few of the items we tried are - 夫妻肺片 sliced beef combination in spicy sauce (10/10 very flavorful and not too spicy) - Sauteed Eggplant W String Beans (9/10) - 梅菜扣肉 Steamed Pork Belly W Preserved Vegetables (8.5/10 the meat is not as fatty but flavors are good and the preserved vegetables are very good to eat with rice) - 辣椒炒小黄牛 Sauteed Sliced Beef & Peppers (9/10 very flavorful but peppers are pretty spicy and there are not a lot of meat pieces) - pork ribs with salted eggs (10/10 SO YUMMY please get this if you like salted eggs! the pork ribs are also seasoned perfectly and super juicy) Please keep in mind that most food options are spicy but I really appreciate how you can select the spice level when ordering.

We've tried the spicy grilled fish, Hunan-style sautéed beef, Chongqing-style spicy chicken, sizzling fish fillet in Sichuan chili broth, and sautéed sliced beef with bamboo shoots and green peppers. Our favorite was the Chongqing-style chicken. It is lightly fried, crisp, and packed with flavor--delivering a balanced blend of spice, umami, and numbing mala that leaves your tongue tingling without overwhelming your taste buds. While both fish dishes feature similar chili broths, the grilled fish offers more substance thanks to its hearty toppings, including wood ear mushrooms, shimeji mushrooms, lotus root, cabbage, sliced potatoes, and roasted peanuts. Both lean heavily on the spicy and numbing side, but you can customize the spice, numbing level, oiliness, and saltiness to your taste. As for the beef, both sautéed dishes were tender and remarkably flavorful. Service is fast, though the restaurant gets busy quickly, so be prepared for a wait during prime time!

Stopped in around 5:30pm on a Wednesday to grab dinner with friends. We ordered quite a lot of dishes but we were so hungry that we didn't grab pics. You order from the QR code at the table. The star of the show was the Sizzling Cumin Potato Slices. They truly came out sizzling. The flavor was reminiscent of the 5 spice seasoning used on skewers. The potato was so crispy with a soft interior. It came with slices of what looked like pork belly too. The dish was so tasty we devoured it and ordered a second order! The sautéed lotus root with chili peppers were flavorful, mildly spicy, and has the best texture from the lotus root. Most people come here for the Spicy Chicken. This is a very forward spice but it's very addicting. Don't forget to order a side of steamed rice to help offset the spice! The house special fried noodles were surprisingly flavorful and well balanced. I'd order this dish again. It uses the same chili peppers that the spicy chicken has. All in all this is a great place to stop in for dinner! Especially if you love spicy food!

The food is awesome! The pork rib with salted egg yolk especially good. Very authentic!

This place is one of a kind! Came in on a Thursday night, got a table right away, no wait! Feel like hitting a jackpot already!! This place always a line waiting outside. Great and honest recommendation from the staff. My wife and I crave for spicy food so badly, but we have a 6 year old with us, the waitress gave suggestions for some non spicy food for my kid, thank goodness The speed of service was speechless, dish after dish put on the table within 10 mins. The flavor is amazing!! Will return for sure!!

We were looking for yummy restaurants in the South Bay and came across a Reddit post mentioning Hunan Impression as one of the top eats in SJ. We came by 30 minutes before closing and got seated right away. We ordered the fish fillet in chili oil and shredded potatoes- the fish had so much favor but I wish the potatoes had more spice! I am looking to try mapo tofu and spicy fish pot next. Note: there's already an 18% gratitude added to the bill.

    nice water

very good!this place is very good, I can come next time. Spicy is very spicy, but very tastes.

Getting them to-go or taking them home just isn't the same experience--they are best enjoyed hot right out of the kitchen. The Environment: The restaurant itself is very basic and could definitely use a deep clean, especially the floors. If you're looking for a romantic lunch, a date spot, or a sleek environment, you will be disappointed. Final Verdict: I definitely recommend this spot if you want a fast, delicious dumpling fix and don't care much about ambiance. Just lower your expectations for the decor, dine in, and enjoy the food!

If you're going to be paying $60-$70 for two people, you would at least expect your food not to be burnt and the staff not be rude! I have been looking forward to going to this place for two years, it was a birthday dinner and I was so disappointed by my experience. I understand that it's downtown San Jose and we came in the evening, so maybe that's just how closing staff is. First off when we were seated, I asked to be moved to a more comfortable's table because the chairs were really uncomfortable for me. The staff seemed irritated and said "I guess" which was the first red flag because it's nerve-racking enough to ask for a special request and to be met with an unprofessional answer like that was disheartening. Secondly, two orders of dumplings came out burnt, which was seriously disappointing. We could barely eat them. We didn't end up finishing them. I brought this up to staff. He told me they weren't burnt and that's just how they are. I know the difference between burnt and browned and these were definitely burnt hard on the bottom and inedible. He begrudgingly told me well "I'm sorry but you'd still would have to pay for another order". I don't think that's fair at all so I said "it's fine were ok" I don't wanna give this company any more of my money anyway if this is how they treat their customers. Lastly, once we were done with our food and paid the check, the man came back to our table and asked us if there was anything he could do for us and how if we enjoyed our meal this felt like a slap in the face after everything I've already asked of him that he refused and denied and being met with a disingenuous offer just felt petty. All in all, I wouldn't go here if you're looking for food that is not burnt Service that is helpful and hospitable. Andexperience that is anything above fast casual dining.

We walked in right at opening to a completely empty dining room. Instead of leaving, we browsed the menu and ordered XLB, pot stickers, jelly fish, and pea sprouts (my personal fav) so glad we didn't leave! The XLB are a nice size, with each precious dumpling cradled in its own foil wrapper for maximum soup retention. The potstickers were full of flavor, packed with protein, delicately wrapped, and had the crispiest, golden bottoms! Jelly fish was fresh and the pea sprouts were a hit! The poor owner answering the phones made sure (in all languages) to inform folks calling in that there were a different May Flower than the other place-felt terrible for her but also understood the importance of differentiating right up front. I can only imagine the number of misorders they have probably dealt with. By the time we were done, the dining room was filled with a mix of what seemed like regulars, locals, large groups of families, small groups of friends... this feels like we stumbled upon a tiny hole in the wall restaurant where everyone who has been before just knows the quality and taste they are going to be getting! This is one of the handful of American Chinese restaurants that stood the test of time. As is typical of these places, there was an old lady manning the counter and also acting as the server. And as is typical of these places, there was table at the end where they were prepping the fruits and veggies. It's truly remarkable how they are all similar in these ways! We got a couple of dishes and they came out at lightning speed. * Chowmein-3/5- delicious with lots of umami flavor but shockingly greasy. I mean I am used to oily noodles but this one exceeded some limits. *crispy salt and pepper eggplant-3/5- I had a stellar version of this dish at another restaurant in Sunnyvale and was stoked when I saw this on the menu here. Unfortunately it was a poor representation of the dish I loved there. The batter was too much and the dish felt heavy. The hot oil or sauce they had felt old and extremely vinegary as well, I would recommend avoiding it.
