We wanted some American Chinese food, so we decided to go back to this place and give it a second try (we tried it long time ago and we weren't that impressed). Here's what we ordered this second time around: Kung pao shrimp: pretty good, but we got more vegetables than the shrimp, so I'm not sure if the value of this dish was good compared to the price. Also in general, I don't like sweet-and-sour flavor profile, and the sauce they used on this dish reminded me a lot of that, so personally, this dish was just not my favorite. Eggplant with hot spiced garlic sauce: first of all, the portion was great, and the eggplant was cooked to perfection. The eggplant was juicy, thickly sliced, and tender. The sauce was pretty good too. I also like the addition of slivered wood ear mushroom. But what felt weird to me was the inclusion of water chestnut into this dish, which to me generally is not something that I would find in an eggplant dish like this. It was not necessarily bad, it was just a strange. Three deluxe vegetables: I'm glad to know that we could choose between brown sauce and white sauce when ordering this dish, and we decided to go with the white sauce. The white sauce was tasty but it was too thick (too much starch?). Also they were super heavy-handed with the water chestnut and it was kinda overwhelming. Vegetable chow mein: just like my previous review, the chow mein was delicious. I like the noodles which were cooked perfectly and still bouncy and al dente. The flavor was really spot on as well. No complaints. I would get this again. Hunan general tsao's chicken: pretty much this dish had the same flavor profile as the Kung pao shrimp. And the amount of cubed water chestnut in this dish was incredibly overwhelming. I think the water chestnut completely took over this dish, and I don't even think that water chestnut would be normally found in general tsao's chicken. Again, the water chestnut was not necessarily bad, it was just highly unusual. Two things that are appealing to me about this place though are the price, which is relatively low compared to other local Chinese restaurants, and the portion, which is really generous.

Sesame Chicken ... good sauce.

We have been coming to Hunan for probably 35 years. Am guessing it has changed owners or management in all that time. But we have seen familar faces for the last several years. While Hunan has a steady takeout business, DH and I prefer to dine in. Nothing fancy, but good friendly service, generous portions, and overall good food. We especially like their Hot and Sour Soup, but skipped it on our last visit. A hot day ... too hot for soup. A complimentary plate of egg rolls was a good way to start the meal while waiting for the entrees. We ordered Sesame Chicken and Mongolian Beef, also steamed rice. (We typically pass on fried rice.) DH really wanted chow mein noodles, one of his favorite dishes here. But with calories in mind he skipped it this time. Even without the soup and noodles, we had leftovers to take home. Find it hard to believe, I have never reviewed Hunan on Yelp. An oversight ... or maybe deleted? At any rate, I am happy to leave a four star review!

Our go-to takeout Chinese place. Doesn't look like much from the street, but their Mongolian Beef, Egg Rolls, Honey Shrimp the best in town!

Sauce was a tad oily but so so flavorful. Would definitely get it again! Pork steamed buns: 8/10, not what I expected, i thought it'd be a red marinated pork but it was more of a seasoned meat ball in a bun. I didn't hate it and it paired well with the sauce of the braised beef :) Signature spicy wonton: 9/10, different for sure. I was expected more chili chucks but the oil itself was different from what I've had before. Love that they packed the wontons and oil separate for me to pair at home. Honestly, I'd come back and dine in. I saw things on Yelp that weren't options on Door Dash. All my dishes felt different from other places I've been with similar menu items. Would love to come here again, service was quick and interior was pleasant ^_^

The small flat noodles were a bit thicker than I would have liked and the soup needed a little more flavor. The chili oil wonton were saltier than I would've liked but the dough had a good consistency. The soup dumplings were ok. 1 braised pork dumpling had a much stronger star anise flavor which was overbearing while the other was perfect. I was actually hoping for the pita part to be more like the style that has crispy layers but it was filling. The chili oil flat noodles were OK. Overall, I've had better hand pulled noodles and I prefer beef broth soup that has a more richer flavor.

Great traditonal South China (Canton) style rice congee spot that also does rice rolls and noodles…read more Not really a Hong Kong style congee spot as ingredients and flavor is a bit different. This congee is more savory as seems they use quite a salted congee. Had the preserved egg and pork, as well as pork kidney congee. Enjoyed it thoroughly as it came nice and hot. Also had the rice roll with fried dough, which was nice, but didn't come with sesame sauce or sweet sauce (which you would find with HK Style rice rolls. Service was quick and efficient. I've heard of Yi Ji Chang Fen but only tried it today. I've eaten so much dim sum in my lifetime, so my standard for dim sum may be higher. We came around 5PM on a Saturday and there wasn't anyone really there. It could be because dim sum feels more like a morning or lunch thing, or it could just be because we were there for a very early dinner. Between our party, we shared: - Marinated Chicken and Mushroom Rice Roll - Stuffed Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf - Steamed Chicken Feet w/ Black Bean Sauce - Black Gold Egg Custard Buns - Chicken Feet with Herbs - Dry Style Beef Chow Fun And one Honey Lemon Tea for me. The honey lemon tea was a comfort for the cold day. Maybe a bit too much honey, but still good for the throat during the dry season. The chow fun came first and surprisingly it was not bad. There was a bit of 'wok hey' there and it stands out as one of the better dishes we had. As for the rice roll - I wanted to try something less conventional and I've never seen chicken in rice rolls, so I thought it would be interesting to try. It was quite disappointing though. Their rice roll was bigger than normal in width so with rice rolls being a struggle to pick up already, the bigger size made it an even bigger struggle. Everything just slipped out of the rice roll and it wasn't evenly wrapped. There were some bunched up layers on the edges. I think the chicken just didn't pair that well either and it was lacking in ingredients. Maybe the more conventional rice rolls would be better. For the two types of chicken feet, I normally like the one in herbal soup. If made well, the chicken feet has a nice flavor to it. For Yi Fen's herbal chicken feet, their portion was pretty good, but flavor was less prominent. I enjoyed the chicken feet in black bean sauce more because the flavor was better. Lastly, for the stuffed sticky rice and black gold egg custard buns, I suspect that these are not made in-house, but rather store-bought. The sticky rice lacked ingredients and the rice was a little harder than if made fresh. And the perfectly shaped black buns with a golden brush stroke on top (which I've seen all over the internet) seemed too elevated-looking compared to everything else. I'm not the biggest fan of molten lava buns, but they came out nicely. I didn't have any, but the molten lava custard was pretty runny. All in all, an okay experience. Service was a bit lacking. I don't recommend the dim sum dishes, but if I happen to want congee, I may give this place another go. Apart from the dim sum and rice rolls, the noodles I glimpsed from other customers looked not bad. I wonder if other locations are better.

The flavors are mouthwatering every time, and somehow the broccoli is always cooked perfectly. Crisp, tender, vibrant, and never overdone, which honestly says a lot. Here, they really try to work around your schedule, and that small detail says a lot. One small note, just to be fair... when ordering for pickup, and even once during pickup, my wife felt the person at the door was a little brisk with her.
