This was such an amazing hidden gem! I came to stay with a friend in North Hollywood and we wanted to grab brunch somewhere before I left, so we found this place only 5 minutes away. It was pretty packed but there were still some empty tables so we got seated right away, which was nice because we came on a Sunday morning and expected it to be really busy. It was lively inside where we were seated, but the outside patio was also a nice option with a view of the street. It was right by the farmers market and Trader Joes so overall was a perfect Sunday morning vibe! What really made this place stand out was their fusion foods, which I'm usually hesitant about because some restaurants combine flavors that just shouldn't go together. That was not the case with this place! Everything we ordered was perfect. We started with the kimchi biscuits, which were so cheesy and flavorful. They didn't taste much like kimchi to us, but it was still seasoned very well and paired perfectly with the maple butter it came with. I ordered the ranch egg with spicy pork, and the person who took my order audibly gasped in delight because it was his favorite. I could definitely see why. It shocked me how well the sweet and spicy pork surprisingly paired well with their pico de gallo and salsa. They were also so generous with their portions and there was basically an entire avocado on it, which is unheard of at brunch spots! I had to take half of it home. My friend got the loco moco and I also tried a bit of it. The bulgogi patty had a perfect amount of sweetness and tasted so good with the gravy. The food was excellent, from the Loco Moco to the Kimchi fried rice and the Japche with Bulgogi! Serving size was perfect for two or one. The Japche was light but fulfilling. We came in with a hungry crowd (ha!) of kids and adults for dinner. I got the katsu burger, which was delectably delicious. The pork cutlet was crunch and the katsu slaw & mayo added a nice sweet and tart balance. Another stand-out was the shishito peppers, which had a really tasty sauce. The bibimbap, japchae, and seaweed salad were also good, though you can find great ones at other restaurants. We had no complaints about them though. One of our kids really loved their fried dumplings too. The service was attentive and the ambiance was nice and romantic. This place is amazing!! What a hidden gem of Toluca Lake! You'll find a variety of pan-asian fusion inspired items on their menu, ranging from pasta to loco mocos to salmon sashimi bowls. My favorite thing to order here is their Hungry Crowd Green Bowl. Lemme tell ya the pesto rice in the green bowl is out of this world!!! It is SO delicious that you'll find it hard to believe it's actually so healthy. The staff is always very nice. For a Korean fusion restaurant, I had some high expectations going in. Especially with its amazing reviews. Came out feeling like I paid decent for what I got and the service was 10/10. We got the famous kimchi fried rice and fried chicken sandwich. Highly recommend the kimchi fried rice even as a Korean myself! It's a little more saucy but the flavors hit and the spice level is perfect. It's also great for leftovers the next day Fried chicken sandwich was unfortunately underwhelming and I wish they could've put some kind of seasoning on the chicken itself to make it more flavorful. The fries were also plain and weren't special. Tldr try the kimchi fried rice and the bibimbap (my husband says this is where it's at) and you won't regret it! Pretty great Korean fusion spot in Toluca Lake!! I've been wanting to try this place for a while! We came here after my daughter's dance class on Sunday just before 11am. Luckily it's one of those places that wasn't crazy packed. We got a table inside and we scanned the menu. Ordered the Kim chi biscuits - good but not my favorite - weirdly savory and sweet. Food was great! Devoured before pics were taken, my apologies. Steak cooked to medium rare and fries with that chimichurri was everything I expected and well balanced. Hubby's loco Moco was the envy to this gravy girly. The patty was moist and flavorful. Both the patty and the gravy had a very subtle bulgogi taste to it that I appreciated. The loaded fries and japchae shared with the table were also flavorful, but would definitely want more of that loaded fries. Service was friendly, attentive, and fast. Met another couple for lunch on a Sunday. There is a Trader Joe's a few doors down, and a farmer's market across the street from the restaurant, so parking was fairly difficult. We had reservations but they weren't too crowded. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was good but nothing that I could get too excited about. We started with the kimchi biscuits, which were good. They came with a cinnamon butter, which strangely was very good with the savory biscuit. I had their soft shell crab sandwich which had a nice serving of crab and a sort of Bahn mi pickled vegetable. It was good, but it didn't really taste like much except the sauces. The crab was well cooked and crunchy, so maybe I should have deconstructed it so I could have really appreciated the crab. Came with a little side salad (which I chose instead of fries.) Two people got the Galbi burger (which is why we originally chose this restaurant) and they both enjoyed them. Fries were average. And the 4th had honey truffle fried chicken, which looked very good. There is indoor and outdoor seating, tables and counter. A cute blackboard with additional menu items. It's a fairly extensive, inventive menu so maybe a different choice might have been better. read more

What a unique restaurant! The food was delicious! The service was outstanding! Our Server was very new to working there. However, she was so attentive and so sweet that I actually thought she was the owner! All the servers work together as a team checking back with us to make sure everything was just right. The Vibe is casual. We decided to eat outside where they have tables and umbrellas. What else could you ask for? The menu has so many different choices that even the pickiest of eaters can find something good to eat. Parking can be a bit challenging especially at the peak of lunchtime. They also have some parking spots behind the restaurant and I lucked out and got one. My friend had the bibimbap bowl which I tried and that was phenomenal! I ordered a Cobb salad without the onions and no Bleu Cheese. It was so fresh and delicious. I opted for a lighter dressing. There was a time when the word "fusion" was a novel concept with restaurants. These days it can be a mixed bag. Sometimes it's a gimmick and other times it's flat out bad...like no one asked for Nordic pupusas? Every now and then though, there are alchemists who get it right...like the Kogi truck before them, Hungry Crowd manages to get the formula right. Owned and operated by a wonderful Korean family, their Instagram describes themselves as, "California fusion...new age American with a lot of Korean love," and it could not be more true. Hungry Crowd manages to be a diner, bistro, and trattoria...that also serves bibimbap. Come for breakfast, get some eggs benedict. For lunch, have some bulgogi tacos or a nice Cobb salad. On a mild summer evening, enjoy a glass of wine and dinner on their patio with some steak frites or some kind of pasta dish made with kimchi. When you walk in the place looks clean and sharp. There's a long island bar that's communal seating and the rest of the space is filled out with two and four tops. On a bright sunny day, you're bathed in the light that shines through from Riverside Drive. I haven't come here for dinner yet, but I can only imagine how nice and moody it might be. Every time I've come here, I was seated fairly quickly and a waiter always checks in to refill drinks or just to check in how you're doing. Their lemonade and cucumber lemonade are refreshing and the drip coffee is cromulent. While the service and ambiance itself earns this place five stars, the food is even more amazing. For breakfast, get anything with an egg on top. Even if you come in for lunch or breakfast, ask for a fried egg because it will be one of the best cooked eggs you've ever had. I'm not a fan of sunny side up eggs, but here, the well cooked egg and the quality of the eggs they use combine into a work of art. Foodies, if you want that perfect broken, drippy yolk shot, this is the place to go. Eggs Benedict, breakfast burrito, and the loco moco are my go tos in the morning. The loco moco is really special because they use the same seasoning for the bulgogi so it's nice and sweet, paired with the savoriness of cheese, gravy, and rice. The perfect bowl of comfort food on a cold night or a summer morning after you had a little bit too much at a BBQ the night before. For lunch, I'm not really sure what to get cause when I have been here after they've stopped serving breakfast, I still got breakfasty things. The tacos look like a wonderful option to have...just reading their descriptions on the menu evoke the bright flavors. I recommend getting the spicy pork, on well...anything. It's a meat option for the benedict and if it's good smothered with hollandaise, it's probably good eaten out of a shoe. For dinner, I can only imagine how good the things they serve are. They have a giant chalkboard full of dinner options, wines, and specials. I guess no one really asked for Korean fusion pastas and raviolis, but yes, I would like to eat that. I do have a coupe frames of reference for how good the dinner can be. If you want some steak frites, come here over an expensive and overrated steak house. The french fries are good and it's just a skirt steak, but it packs the flavor and tenderness of a rib eye. You don't really need the chimichurri, but of course, that is good too. Also their salads are probably good based off the side salads we've gotten with brunch. It's just greens with a simple vinaigrette, but I could eat a bowl of it. Awesome place with a lot of charm and great, interesting flavor combinations in their dishes. I am particularly a big fan of their dishes with kimchi, as they make it in house! As someone who lived in Korea for 6 years and is married to a Korea, I am a bit biased towards places that make their own kimchi, but I really do their food is great.  Small note that is definitely not a big deal but I think would be a helpful, quick-ish fix is that the digita menu is a bit unruly. It is multiple pages long and features many similar dishes for each meal time. Perhaps color differentiation, a bigger "BREAKFAST / LUNCH / DINNER" sign, or a collapsable page for different meal times would help. Regardless this is once again a smaller issue. Happy hour pricing is pretty solid in comparison to other places in the area these days, and portion size is fair. Definitely come here for new American/Korean fusion flavors in a more upper-casual setting. read more

Had the bibimbap with tofu in a hot stone bowl with brown rice and it was delicious! What made it especially tasty was that you really got a nice blend of crispy browned rice from the stone pot - everything was proportionately great so you didn't get too much or too little of one item, and the sauce on the side was a nice touch to add in a bit of kick as needed. Parking is a bit tough in the area but some of the side streets have availability, just make sure to look at the restrictions on the sides as not all the streets are the same! read more

This place blew me away! Everything tasted sooo fresh. We got the kale salad with salmon and arugula salad with salmon. The red wind vinaigrette with savory and tangy and rest pulled the flavors of the salad together with the cucumbers, onions and olives. The grilled salmon was also perfectly cooked. The kimchi biscuit was a burst of flavors and deliciously tender. We also got a waffle which was nicely crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The cinnamon butter really enhanced the waffle aswell. All of the servers and hosts were incredibly helpful and sweet. We will definitely be coming back! Wow! This place is great! And right next to Trader Joe's, even better lol I came on a Saturday brunch hour. It's definitely busy but I was able to get seated on a timely manner. For food, we got the chicken dumplings and I got the Ranch eggs. My partner got the bibimbap. I enjoyed my Ranch Eggs. It was a light but filling meal. Eggs were cooked just right. The chicken dumplings had a nice soup broth so it did burn my tongue a bit. Service was good. They were on refills and very kind, generous folks. I can't stop raving about this dinner! Thanks to Yelp, I came across Hungry Crowd as one of the top recommended restaurants in LA, and their overall rating of five stars pulled me in. At 5:00P, the four of us were the first customers to enter, so we had our choice of where to sit. One of the first things I noticed was how clean the restaurant was; our table was glistening! The menu is pretty large with something to fit everyone's tastes: small plates, salads, pastas, rice dishes, and various meat items. When we asked, the waiter gave us his recommendations which definitely influenced our ordering. Although many of the items can be eaten as a single serving, we decided to share everything family-style. + ROSE PASTA ($24): A creamy tomato sauce with blue crab, garlic, onions and capers completely coated al dente pasta. The sauce was delicious and it included a reasonable amount of crab. We mopped up every bit of it... no sauce left behind! A handful of arugula on top gave it a peppery bite. + FRIED PORK RIBS ($24): Amazing! These baby back ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and the meat was on the leaner side rather than fatty. They came covered in a sticky sweet glaze that had a perfect touch of heat. The sauce was so addicting that I kept scooping it up on each bite of rib. In place of fries or slaw, we took our waiter's suggestion of polenta as the side, which was so creamy and smooth. + HUNGRY CROWD GREEN BOWL ($14.50 + $7 for salmon): A wholesome bowl of brown rice with pesto, avocado, kale, poached egg and pickled red onion. For an extra cost, you can add protein to make it a more filling meal. The pesto was bright and herby like it should be and we mixed the runny poached egg in with the rice. Grilled salmon paired nicely, being moist and flaky. Our waiter said this was his favorite dish and I totally see why. It's nutritious and delicious! + KALE SALAD ($14): Tender kale with black olives, tomato, cucumber and red onion was tossed in a red wine vinaigrette. The dressing was light and slightly acidic, perfectly cutting through the richness of the other items in our meal. Service was very good as our waiter checked back with us multiple times and kept our waters full. He also mentioned to us that the seafood is purchased each day, rather than delivered, so they select the freshest items. That is what led us to choosing the salmon in the Green Bowl! The only thing was that we were originally going to order the scallops, but they did not have them that day. We got to choose the place to sit so we decided on an outdoor table next to some cute plants. My friend and I ordered the soft shell crab burger, katsu sandwich, and dirty fries with bulgogi to share. Soft shell crab sandwich $19: Delicious and both of our favorites based on what we ordered. So fresh and the crab had the perfect crunch. The tartar sauce was yummy and not overpowering. Katsu burger $16: I ate this burger last and it was surprisingly still crunchy! Very filling but a little heavy with all the breading and bun. Dirty fries $10 + $4 for bulgolgi add on: Served in a little skillet. They were tasty but slightly smaller portion than expected. The bulgogi and kimchi were a yummy combo. Only drawback was the parking! We had to circle a few times to find a spot or could have opted for a slightly further walk if we parked in the neighborhood. The menu was so extensive, it felt overwhelming to look at everything on the menu. We got kimchi biscuits, corn with polenta, skirt steak, shrimp risotto, & Asian rice noodle salad. Didn't take any pictures as i was too busy looking at the menu & trying to decide what to order... My friends said the kimchi biscuits were OK but nothing they'd order again. The butter that came with the biscuits made up for the lack of taste. Polenta with corn was OK but again, nothing "wow!" Skirt steak was too tough although ordered medium. Shrimp was good in shrimp risotto but the brown rice made the risotto too tough. Asian rice noodle salad was good & we'd probably order that again. The staff were nice about us having a cake there we brought to the restaurant. Their credit card machine was malfunctioning so we had to pay cash. I asked "what if we didn't have enough cash on us?" The wait staff said, "there's many ATM machines nearby..." It was nice enough so we may return in the future but their food has room for improvement. read more
