This was our first time at hungry Howie's! We came here because my daughter got a free pizza certificate and our first impression was really good. The lady who took our order was very friendly and very chatty, she offered me different specials so we order our food and it came out in a timely manner. We took the food home because this was our first time here and we didn't know that it was a carry out only type location, but we took the food home, had it and it was actually very good. Pizza was very decent and we're happy to find a new pizza place to go to so overall we like it and we will be back. read more

For someone who doesn't have a car anymore, when it comes to ordering pizza for delivery my options are pretty limited. Located by Broadway and Pantano area, I have BlackJack Pizza, Hungry Howies and Pizza hut. There are other Pizza places around me, however delivery fees, or use of 3rd party menu websites defer me from choosing those other restaurants. I can tell you that if I decided to walk to pick up my order from the Hungry Howies location I would have saved about $10 but my kiddo wasn't really up for the trip. When ordering from Hungry Howies menu which is provided by HungerRush.com sometimes a pop up gets in the way of the log in window. So....trying to log in can be a hassle at times. Once I get logged in I can see the menu and order with no problem. For tonight's meal I went with the $17.99 Howie Deal consisting of 2 medium 1 topping pizzas and an order of Howie Bread. It cost an additional $0.90 to add Mushroom to only half of one pizza which isn't bad but I'll see how much mushrooms they add. Also additional sauce cups are $0.75. Once order is placed my confirmation email gives me an estimated wait time of 40 mins....overall took about 35 mins. 38 if you count the driver finding the spot. Pizzas looked delicious and extra saucy like I asked. Driver was very courteous and had a great smile. Thank you for dinner tonight. Update 7:01 pm.....not going to knock down a star but the pizza sauce portions that came with the Howie dough DID NOT taste good AT ALL. I didn't mention anything to my kiddo to see if maybe it was just me but upon him taking a bite he said "mom this doesn't taste right, it taste like alcohol" and for someone who doesn't know what that taste like, he was right. The sauce has either been out too long that it fermented or something was added in. The pizza and bread themselves were great. It was just the sides of sauce. Hopefully they can keep an eye out and check on the sauce. read more

My wife and I finally decided to try Hingry Hiwies Pizza on Pantank Rd on 11/16/2023. We ordered ahead on the APP and scheduled it for a later time. We were greeted with professionalism and kindness. Our order was made accurately and on time. The quality of both pizza's unfortunately was awful . There was no flavor, no taste and nothing about the pizza that was good. Our food lacked taste and made the entire experience unpleasant. Nothing like venturing out to have new experiences and they end up badly. Kudos to the staff for doing a good job!! Too bad the ingredients need updated with seasonings. We won't be returning to any Hungry Howies Pizza. read more

I would have been happy with having my pizza remade, but the men working there argued with me when I showed my pizza and proof that I did not order thin crust and insisted this paper thin crust that is no thicker than the rest of the pizza is somehow not thin crust. My pizzas arrived very flimsy, soggy & undercooked. I called the restaurant to notify them & they sent out new pizzas & the new ones were also soggy & undercooked. I have ordered the advertised after 8pm large 1 topping pizza for 8$. Great deal I thought until I saw my receipt and was charged an extra 1.99 for a topping when as advertised it states 1large 1topping pizza for 8$ so why do you charge 1.99$ extra for a topping. Placed an order on 4/27 for a medium Howies Special pizza, a small gluten free Works pizza minus black olives, Asian Howie wings and Buffalo Howie wings. Not a complicated order, was made online; estimated time was 40 minutes. As we approached the two hour mark I tried calling the store. Sat waiting for 15 minutes waiting for someone to pick up before I gave up. Tried calling again five minutes later, same thing. My son tried and got the same thing. No one was answering at the store. At two hours and twenty five minutes a delivery driver shows up with the food. I am not mean, I do not yell and I do not curse. I simply ask him why it took so long to get the food to us. He gives a sad excuse that really does not answer my question and says I need to call the store. I told him I would but no one is answering the phones at the store. He says something about this is why he isn't a manager anymore and beats a hasty retreat before I can ask or say anything else. The food was cold. Nothing is sadder than a pizza that has sat closed in a box and allowed to cool off except for chicken wings that have sat wrapped in foil in a box and allow to cool off. The pizza just sucked, the sauce was light on top of the fact that it was cold and the cheese was skimped on as well. The wings were inedible. When you get chicken wings and they are fried or baked you expect them to be crispy. That is part of the experience of the wing that makes them so good. The skin on these wings was like limp rubbery flesh. It was disgusting and there was no saving them at that point since the sauce was on them. All and all the experience left a bad taste in our mouths. While I understand that places are slammed with the pandemic this is the time for them to shine, not slack. You either put out your best work or you go down in flames. My business will go with someone else who can deliver a quality tasty (and edible) product next time. read more

i give it 10 minus stars. the worst pizza i have ever gotten anywhere. i ordered gluten free pizza with pepperoni ground beef chicken mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce. it had 3 tiny pieces of chicken, 1 tsp of ground meat, yet it had 13 slices of pepperoni. the edge of the crust was so burnt it was black. the bottom of the crust was burnt and so hard you. could not bite it, fearing you would break a tooth. when i complained to the young, inexperienced manager she had the nerve to tell me that it was the way that a thin crust pizza comes out. for many years before she was born i have eaten mamy delicious thin crust pizzas which melt in your mouth. no "sorry you weren't satisfied" and "we will make you a new one". just kept repeating "that's the way a thin crust pizza comes out" as if it was a record playing. it cost $18.00 plus tax for an extremely burnt pizza which i could not eat. too many other wonderful pizza parlors in tucson to ever go to hungry howie on n. pantano again. first and last time. read more

I don't always get chain pizza... But when I do it's Hungry Howies. Hungry howies offers reasonably priced pizza and flavored crusts. Used to eat this as a kid and all my friends that I have introduced it too have become instant fan's definitely worth a try next time you're in the mood for pizza. read more

I liked this place. We got a meat lovers, some breadsticks, and some wings on a takeout order. I think there are cheaper options out there, but this place was really good. The pizza was good, but the wings and breadsticks were what sold me at this place. The breadsticks were heavy and thick. They were filling with a really good flavor blend of seasonings. The wings had good buffalo sauce, but the chicken quality itself is what set them apart from other places. The meat of the wings was fluffy and soft. The meat came right off the bones. The staff was nice and the food order was punctual. All in all, good experience. I will definitely order from here again when I see a good deal. I highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

I am OBSESSED with this place. I obviously love the pizza. It's damn good pizza. What really stands out to me though is HOW NICE every single employee always is when I visit their establishment. They're prompt, friendly, personable, courteous and very respectful. The service combined with the great prices and tons of options keeps me loyal to this place always. I have showed my dad this place. Loved it. I showed a friend this place. Loved it. OH and he was from New York!! That's saying something. I ordered online at 4:42 I called at 5:56 to see if it was out for delivery then was told that my order hasn't even been processed and was being made and delivered asap. Now if this was my first bad experience with this store then I would have blown it off but every time I order, something gets forgotten or the food is burnt or not done properly. I keep giving this place a chance but after tonight I'm done. I talked to the manager of the store and told him I want a refund and I'm never ordering again. He blamed it on the online system and that it was it's fault so instead of trying to keep my business he basically said it's not my fault so you are out of luck. I tried to order 12+ pizzas and salad for an event I was having at my place of business; however, the gentlemen I spoke with on the phone said they would not deliver past Houghton and Irvington unless we ordered 15 to 20 pizzas. He stated the delivery drivers get mad when they have to drive that far. I was shocked behind that statement being that they are the business owners; don't they pay their drivers to deliver food? And what delivery driver would be upset to receive a tip (which would have been worth the drive had they come) from an order off of 12+ pizzas!? I'm shocked they didn't want our business and I'm sure if they knew who they refused business to, they would regret their decision!! A salad made by a person who doesn't eat salad is easy to spot. With vegetables cut in unwieldy slabs and hunks, its lettuce is either too large to manage comfortably or too small to feel meal-like. This is not to say the salad is bad. It is just different. Enough with the salad, Howie's stands on no pretense! It's mission is to provide good, cheap, late-nite pizza. Hungry Howie's is very inconsistent. Certain nights they produce chain pizza with near-perfection (Because -- let's face it -- chain pizza and real pizza are two different categories altogether), while on other nights they seem to prefer giving you the pizza to finish baking yourself. Sometimes their bread is drenched in greasy substances; there are instances where it's totally dry, while -- every once in a while -- it's (just like the pizza) a complete pile of garlic-flavored dough. You really have to give them specific, detailed instructions in order to get the pizza exactly the way you want and that includes telling them "Make sure you cook this into an actual pizza. kThxBai.". But the ingredients they use are pretty good, mind you, and their different flavored crusts give it a unique edge over most competitors. Just be prepared to put your pizza in the oven when you get home with it, as HH's rarely cooks its pizza long enough. Once it's finally cooked thoroughly, however, it's tolerable pizza. I wouldn't go out of my way to give them my business, but if I am in the area and want some pizza, I'll order from here. read more

Gave these son of guns a 2 star because the chicken bacon ranch pizza is a dank. If you don't feel like picking toppings this is the pizza. Other than that, you guys suck. Good pizza and other items as well! Very flavorful and never disappointing! I love to be able to customize the pizza just the way I like it extra sauce, little sauce, no sauce, or normal, lightly cooked, normal cooked, extra cooked, etc. etc. And they don't charge extra for extra sauce on the pizzas. I love it, since I am pretty saucy myself, lol! Awesone sauce!! There's also tons of different crust options you can choose from like asago cheese, garlic herb, ranch, siracha, just to name a few, but there are more choices as well. I love that the menu items for anything other than pizza, are actually affordable and not over priced, just what Tucson needs. Sure, some people are only going to order pizza but with a name like Hungry Howie's, it's great that *good* items other than pizza are offered because people will be hungry for them, and we are blessed that Hungry Howie's applies to those options. The reward program could use some modifications, because basically you need to spend too much before a $10 reward is offered, but it's still not totally absurd like other places either. I prefer to spend less still get rewarded just because I'm giving the venue my business, but ya know, every place is different. Howie rolls are like strombolis and they are a pretty decent size. You get what you pay for. Those too, can be customized to your liking. They also now serve gluten free crust as well, but if you have celiac disease, I advise to ask about their practices on avoiding cross contamination. This is a great pizzeria. read more

I don't want to say that the last thing this town needs is another chain pizza place...but if it does...it sure as heck had better be fantastic. Not the case here. After a painful 20 mins of trying to navigate their "on line ordering" I just gave up. The pics looked so great and there were some pretty good reviews here on trusty old Yelp, so I called in. It was a Saturday night and they were busy. Even ordering over the phone was kind of a pain...but we got though it. The food came in less time than they estimated, the delivery guy was very nice and seemed to have his act together. But then we tried to eat the pizza, and that is where we made our mistake. The pizza was very thin and had nearly no crust! Normally, this wouldn't upset me too much....but the whole idea behind this place's gimmick is that they offer so many flavored crusts!!!! The pizza was slightly worse than the $1 Titinos ya buy at the super market, and roughly the same size. And it was $16. There were wings too. Not nearly as disappointing as the pizza but most definitely from frozen, pre-seasoned and just bad. The only reason I gave Howies two stars was because of the sandwich. Thank goodness my far better half had a craving for an Italian sub or our meal would've been a complete waste of time and money. The sandwich was a little different. It seemed to be made out of a folded pizza crust. It was pretty tasty and fairly large considering the very low price!!! I would even consider returning if only for the Italian Sub. I think it was priced under $5 and fed us both. (Though we did have some bites of awful pizza and substandard wings to help get us through). Anyway, if cheap food is what you're after...have at it. I ordered online a vegetarian pizza with gluten free crust, to be delivered. It was the worst pizza I ever tried to eat. The crust was burned, it only came in small (thank goodness for that because it was awful). It cost me $19.99 plus a $5 tip. It had almost no veggies on it - some chili and a wedge of tomato was about it. I don't understand how someone in business could send that pizza out the door and expect to survive as a restaurant. $25 for a small, vegetable sparse pizza, almost no cheese.
