I visited this area for a school assignment and decided to come to this place for dinner. The restaurant was clean and nice. I got their pho with meatballs. It wasn't the best pho I've ever had, but it was decent enough for me to give this place 4 stars. It is somewhat flavorful but not too much. The portion of the meat was okay, but the portion of the noodle was actually generous enough to fill a hungry stomach. Came by during lunch on a weekday and it was pretty empty, the parking lot SUCKS though, it seems like only employees of the complex park there because they double park and block each other in... the waiter was very nice and was really well dressed for the environment of the restaurant. We ordered a mango salad and fresh spring rolls to start, mango salad was SO good! Fresh spring rolls were kind of basic nothing special. I ordered the duck noodle soup and my husband had the vermicelli bowl, the soup was very bland and the meat seemed just boiled so I don't think I'd get that again, but they don't use MSG which is nice. They don't use MSG. The no msg thing is a huge perk for me, since it wrecks me when I eat it. In all honesty, the pho itself is a bit bland. BUT the beef stew, and the other specialty pho-ish soups are legit AF! Super tasty, hearty, and well rounded. The mixed salad (lotus, papaya, mango, etc) is also on point. What a gem! Hidden in a little strip mall, this spot serves really great Vietnamese food. The menu has items I haven't seen on most Vietnamese menus and everything tastes very fresh and healthy (in a good way!). ] The mango salad, as so many have noted, is fantastic! You can choose tofu or shrimp, but I don't find either really adds to it. Just give me the mango salad! It's so good, I actually brought it as 'my dish' to a party. :D My other favorite so far is the chicken curry. It wasn't at all what I was expecting, and has quickly become a weekly staple in my meal planning. It's much thinner than a typical curry, and really not much curry. We recently moved into the Rainier Valley neighborhood and have been trying to identify our go-to spots for food. I think Huong Duong has quickly become my go-to for Vietnamese food. There are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants in this neighborhood so competition is fierce, but they really are a top choice. I have been ordering their crispy Vietnamese crepe or Banh Xeo whenever I come here. $8 will get you two crepes with veggies, herbs, and all the fixings. It's incredible satisfying and a healthy-ish meal too! I also like that this place is conveniently located off the light rail stop so I can phone in my order on my way home from work and then pick it up when I get off the light rail. read more

I'm pretty upset with my house special noodle bowl I got to-go. The meat was dry, the shrimp lacked flavor, the combination of the noodles and veggies didn't taste fresh and everything together didn't taste good with a subtle sourness of spoilage. I was pretty hungry and tried to ignore the initial sour flavor thinking it was the pickled daikon/carrot but after only a couple forced bites, I couldn't continue eating the rest. They even asked me how spicy I wanted it to be from 1-5. Naturally, my answer was 6!Brought me jalapenos and extra thai chilli peppers! Yummmm! Small bowl filled me up to the brim! So much food. Papaya Salad- not like the thai papaya salad but I actually liked it. Tasty shrimp, chunky-ish papaya.. Good deal! Fresh rolls with shrimp- delish! I'm always in search of good Bun Bo Hue (my all time favorite Vietnamese dish). I drive by this place almost everyday coming home from work but never really noticed it. Since they serve Bun Bo Hue I thought I would give this place a chance. Cat Sang is my to go place for BBH but it's so far from where I stay. I was hoping to find another to go place to satisfy my BBH cravings without driving so far. PROS: The restaurant is very clean. Their prices are affordable. They have very good customer service (+1 star). We were greeted right away, had our orders taken and food served probably within 10-15 minutes. They were very attentive and professional. When taking our ordering I was asked how spicy I wanted my dish which was nice because that was the first time I was asked that at a Vietnamese restaurant. They cater to your taste buds. Most restaurants just serve the dish as is. They have a variety of dishes, some unique dishes that you don't usually see at a typical Vietnamese restaurant (grapefruit salad was one of them). CONS: 2 stars for the food that me and my husband got to experience. We ordered ice coffee, egg rolls, Bun Bo Hue and Pho. Sadly to say, we weren't very impressed. The coffee was flavorless. The egg rolls were mostly filled with potatoes, I barely tasted anything else. My Bun Bo Hue was bland. The cha served with it was almost tasteless. It was also serve with meatballs, which were good but there usually isn't meatball (the one you would see in pho) served with BBH. My husbands pho was okay, not the best. I have been to this restaurant several times and haven't wrote a review yet so I figured after visiting tonight I would do so. Every time I have eaten here I have had a great experience. The owner is always very polite and friendly which is something I like. There is always a good positive vibe. He always makes you feel welcome and after some negative experiences in other places it is always nice to come back here. I have had the grilled pork and grilled chicken over rice vermicelli in the past and they were both really good. I think the pork is much more juicy than the chicken. I have also had the pork and chicken ban mi sandwiches. We also got a pot of tea for $1.00. I also like their fresh rolls with shrimp. Huong Duong was a pleasant surprise. It is brightly lit inside, the walls are painted light yellow, and overall it feels very welcoming. It is very clean and simple...no sticky menus or broken chairs. When I looked through the menu, I was hoping to find a little more unique selection of Vietnamese dishes, but my common favorites were there, such as grilled short ribs, pho in a variety of sizes, and vermicelli noodle bowls. The prices are VERY reasonable; most dishes are less than $10. We ordered: -Fresh spring rolls with shrimp: There is no better way to start off a Vietnamese dinner, but I would have preferred more noodles and a bit less lettuce. -Papaya salad with shrimp: This was delicious! Sour, crunchy, a little bit sweet, and so fresh. -Vermicelli bowl with grilled pork, grilled shrimp, egg rolls, and fresh veggies and herbs: The shrimp and pork were so flavorful and tender...tasted like they had been marinating for a long time too. -Eggplant and tofu clay pot with rice: This was my favorite dish. I loved the slight char on the moist eggplant and tofu as well as the thick, luscious, savory sauce. It went perfectly with steamed rice. I didn't even mind paying $1 for extra rice just to soak up all the saucy goodness. Last but not least, our server (and possible owner) was really friendly and attentive. He took the initiative to offer things that he saw we needed without us ever asking....it is like he is a mind reader!! My friends and I came in for a quick lunch. Parking was extremely limited but luckily, there was one open when we arrived. (I think there's additional parking available on the other side of the building). I walked in and was pleasantly surprised by the decor. The walls were painted in a warm tannish color, a quote was painted on one side, and pictures were hung on the others. The space was open and there was plenty of seating. I ordered a small rare beef pho, a Vietnamese iced coffee, and shared a plate of tofu spring rolls. The food was great. The pho broth was piping hot, nice and beefy, and the noodles were chewy. The spring rolls were tightly rolled, which made for easy eating, and the peanut sauce was actually pretty tasty, considering I'm not a huge peanut sauce fan. I work in Tukwila and there aren't too many decent pho restaraunts close by. While Huong Duong is a little bit of a drive from my company, it's definitely worth the trip. It's really hard to find parking at first, usually when you do find parking it's super tight so be prepared. Now for the restaurant: Every time I go during the week, the same guy is there. He is super friendly! The place is very clean and the play a lot of christian music in the background. The service is pretty fast, usually when I go it's with three other people and we get our food within 5-10 minutes of ordering. My favorite dishes at this place include: The Deluxe Pho & Bun Bo Hue. My co-workers always get the Chicken Pad Thai (even at a Vietnamese restaurant) and they love it! All in all, the portions aren't the biggest and I wouldn't say this place has the BEST Pho or Bun Bo Hue. It is however, some of the best in the Tukwila/Beacon Hill area and I go here probably once a week. Tip: Shout out to Daren D. for letting me know about this! This is a pleasant new ownership to takeover this spot, even though I've enjoyed the previous ones but this spot is just tricky for business. I've been a few times for meals and snacks. Spread out, I've had an iced coffee, fresh spring rolls, mango juice (I think) and lemongrass chicken with rice. All pretty good. The lemongrass could have a bit more flavor/kick. The menu has some interesting things (or was 1 thing?) I've not seen before [at Vietnamese places]: I recall seeing pomelo in desserts. I'll be trying more next time, for sure. read more

OMG I wish they had this place here in the bay area! This is one of the BEST places we've ever eaten! EVERY dish everyone had - we all LOVED! The Beef Stew Pho - my nieces ages 9 and 11 - devoured clean!! several of us had the Lemongrass Noodle Bowl - OMG I totally gobbled it up and if I wasn't full, wished for more!! the Pad Thai - very flavorful... I mean EVERYTHING we had everyone LOVED... and my family loved it so much that my sister and parents went back there again without us!! Love this place and when we visit Seattle again - worth the drive out there - a hidden gem!! AND they were able to accommodate 15 of us - no fuss - no bother and with three different family checks... We are fans and WILL be back. Huong Duong serves delicious food that is VERY approachable even if you are not at all familiar with Vietnamese food. I recommend it for any Viet-curious out there. Solid menu with vegetarian options clearly labeled. Touches of humor, even. Gluten-free and mushroom-free sauces available. Friendly staff, too! Even gave me pronunciation lessons. (I need more.) I had the Sunflower Deluxe Pho topped off with the Sweet Sticky Ball Dessert. He had the Fresh Salad Rolls with shrimp plus Crispy Egg Noodles. So many other dishes to try later! I walked in and immediately noticed the nice decor of the restaurant - it looks brand new. I was greeted by the waiter and he immediately brought water to my table. I looked over the menu and decided on the Bun Bo Hue. The food came out in less than 5 mins. The amount of food compared to price is great ($8.59) The waiter also mentioned that all their food is MSG free and gave me a sample of their crispy spring rolls which were also good. I came here with a close girlfriend of mine after we got our hair did. (Shout out to Jenny, my number one hairdresser at King Way Salon, kiss kiss, peace sign). We were craving something light, fresh and satiating the spectrum between sweet and savory but not too heavy as the weather was warm. It was a little after noon, but after 12:30pm or so, there were many others who entered to enjoy lunch. First off upon sitting down, it came to my attention that this place was freaking harmonious - so harmonious that a lady behind us was chowing down on her food and singing along with the Christian rock playing in the background. Man, if the ambiance got you singing along with something along the lines of Creed, they must be doing something right with the food. We ordered some fresh spring rolls (one with shrimp and one with Vietnamese pork) that were doing it doggy style on our plate for starters. The peanut sauce was a little bland, but overall pretty good. You could definitely skip out on it if you'd like. Next we shared their Shrimp & Mango Salad (#17 I think on the back of the menu) and dousesd it in that lovely fish sauce that just makes you go make satisfying noises or motions of happiness in your seat. This I would definitely recommend. Every ingredient is sliced in wonderful portions and where you aren't shoving a whole fruit or tree in your mouth. You get a little bit of the mango, daikon, cilantro, fish sauce, cabbage, carrot and shrimp in each bite beautifully. Next time I am definitely buying this again. We also wanted some noodz, so we ordered a Lemongrass Pork Bún as well. Again, we poured all that nuoc mam all over the noodz and tossed it around until all of it is saturated. This was fairly decent, and will definitely satisfy a bún craving, but I haven't exactly found the most outstanding bún yet. Only reason why I dinged a star is because the dude that was serving us was all alone. Bro shouldn't be alone during a busy rush hour as it compromises attentiveness. Perhaps they have more wait staff for dinner time, but lunch hour was definitely pretty busy as soon as we left. Service wasn't horrible at all, very polite, friendly and quick! Super delicious stuff! Came here on a Friday around 11:40ish. It wasn't crowded when we got there, but defo more crowded as the time went on. Huong Duong is a nice clean restaurant, but the only problem I had was that they had ONE front of house and ONE kitchen staff. So as you can imagine, the service was really slow. Our group of 7 had to wait about 40 or so minutes for our food to actually come to the table.. Was the wait worth it? Yup! The food was super fresh and delicious. I got the seafood pho..the spareribs were super tender and the seafood meatballs were very flavourful. Unlike most pho beef broth, this was more of a tomato base broth. Every bite - along with the cilatro was mighty refreshing. Thinking about it now, I want another bowl! I wanted the crispy egg rolls, but experiencing the wait time we had, I didn't want to risk waiting another 30 minutes for them, so perhaps next time.
