The place is clean and spacious. The staff is mostly older men and no one communicates with each other. The service is slow but the food makes you for it and comes out fairly fast. Houng Vy specializes in Hue food of Central Vietnam, so I opted for the Banh Canh, literally "cake soup." Though the soup was very good, the noodles were not spongy and soft but were rather thick, almost pasty as you chewed on them. It ruined the dish for me. This place has your typical Hue dishes. I ordered Banh Beo Chen and Banh Canh. I wouldn't say it was the best nor would I say it was the worst. The decor is pretty modern, and very clean. It was too quiet in there though, no music or tv so it was a little awkward. The Banh Beo Chen was super thin, even more than what you're used to. The Banh Canh came out ridiculously hot, I mean soup is good when it's hot but man I feel like they just overheated it in the microwave or something. Huong Vy is a Vietnamese restaurant away from the usual hustle and bustle of Little Saigon. I had been here before a couple of years ago when it was another restaurant. The overall decor is the same as the previous restaurant. Maybe just some paint. The booth I was sitting in was a little worn. The restaurant is very open and makes the inside feel big. The food was a bummer. One problem was the Che Ba Mau (tri-colored jelly drink) had spoiled coconut milk in it. Smelled and tasted funny. The Bun Bo Hue was decent or OK. It did not blow you away. The short rib was seasoned well but was a little fatty to me. Also they seemed a little over cooked. The service was typical for Vietnamese places in the area except it took a really long time to for the short rib and my friend was almost finished with the Bun Bo Hue by the time they came. I really enjoy this place. My family usually come here for some authentic Vietnamese food prepared by a bunch of elderly people. The food is delicious and do expect to wait a little on your order because it will take some time. In the end, it's all worth it when it's served to you fresh from the kitchen. He took our order, not even using words when asking what we wanted to drink. I get that my vietnamese is very broken and my bf isn't vietnamese but still.. Authentic food? At what cost? The food itself is average, if not, below subpar. The service is horrendous. The waiters do not acknowledge you once you set foot in the restaurant and will leave you waiting if the place is full. With that in mind, I witnessed one of the waiters sneeze and wipe his snot on both his hands and sleeve. Do you want those hands serving your food? I sure as hell don't. I like most things here except Bun Bo Hue.. I'd go to Ngu Binh for that. Its only about 2 minutes away on the corner of Magnolia and Westminster. Banh Beo Chen is great. 9 for about $5. Cha Oc is really good too. 5 for 5. Cha Hue is .50 cents each. I never see them too busy and typically i just lift a finger or raise my hand halfway and someone is on their way. I've never seen them with more than 35% occupancy. I wish they'd get more business. Not too sure why they aren't. It could be because of their location. Food is always good and hot. I think a lot of it is premade but that doesn't affect the taste of it. Depending on what you order, they can often come out within a couple of minutes. decor is pretty nice and bathrooms have always been clean for me. Call in to order if you'd like. I think they might speak only vietnamese though. And a few are from the Hue Region(central) so they might be a little difficult to understand. read more

Don't know why this is the place of choice when my out of towner relatives come here. This place is a branch of "huong giang." I only know because my dad knows the owners. They have the typical Hue food like bun bo hue, banh beo, banh loc, etc. I went here twice in a week with my parents, taking people to eat who weren't from the area. Service is pretty bad. We were served by grumpy old men who seemed like they wanted no one in their already empty restaurant. No water refills, no extra napkins, no service, basically. The food was average. I had the "banh khoai" which was like a banh xeo but smaller- hey non Asians, this is like a vietnamese taco or quesadilla hahah. It was ok. It didn't come with fish sauce but with peanut sauce instead. It was ok but very oily. My brother had bo luc lac, or shaken beef, and it was extremely dry and he barely made a dent into it. I also had the banh beo chen, which was good, but I would not come back only to eat appetizers. This is definitely not my place of choice, but I'll come here to spend time with relatives who are deprived of Asian food where they're from. read more

I frequent Huong Vy often with my fiance. We both love the food and the service. I order the banh combo(different kinds of traditional hue dumplings) and it's delicious. Off of that I already get full. We also get the banh khot (a vietnamese-like crepe stuffed with pork, beansprouts, mushrooms, and shrimp) which is one of my favorites. I eat it wrapped inside the lettuce and cucumbers :) My significant other usually gets banh canh tom cua(noodles and crab&shrimp pieces) and what i've tried it's really good. One thing I like about the banh canh is the noodles taste better than other Hue restaurants i've been to in little sai. It has more of a dough filling flavor rather than the norm noodles. It's affordable, delicious, and decent service. I highly recommend it and will bring my family and friends when they visit from out of town. read more

The owner and the servers at this restaurant never have a smile on their faces. They never know how to say sorry, never know how to say we will try it better next time. They disregard the complaints and the requests from the customers. I come here once in a while to eat BBH. The menu has two or three items that can be tasty. However, the service is so poor, so blank, and so ridiculously rude. I came to eat today with two friends. We orders Banh Uot Thit Nuong. When the plate was served, the meat was chewy, cold, the banh uot was cold and beaten. I told the server about it and said the item should not be served to the customers. It was the worst of the most worst items throughout Westminster Area. The server just gave us a smirk. I took the plate to the counter and told the owner exactly what we thought about it. Instead of saying I am sorry or I will tell the chef, he asked if I want a box to go with a cold to stone face. I said no. He then threw the bill on the counter. I ASKED IF HE TOOK THE ITEM OUT OF THE BILL, he said no. I paid the bill and told my friends that we should never go back to this place again. I heard so many complaints from my family members and friends but never thought it was going to be this bad. I went there several times with friends at different occasions. The decoration with varieties golden colors from floor to ceiling and furniture give us a warm feeling. Overall it was clean and smell fresh with wide windows around with many lights on ceiling showed how serious their commitment to business. Services were fast and pleased.
