Wasn't impressed mainly because I felt for breakfast menu it was overpriced. Bagels are not fresh daily

Joe B and I caught a delicious Sunday brunch last weekend. After arriving a little after 11am, we waited about 15 minutes to be seated at a booth. It's first come first serve, where everyone is waiting in the main area. It's a little stressful that there's no actual list, but they do a good job knowing the order in which people arrived. Huxley's is definitely a cozy spot, though I did find the worn out nature of most of the furniture less endearing than other Yelpers mention. That being said, our waitress was super chill and made us feel like we were truly in someone's home grabbing a good meal. I went for the special French toast (on a croissant) with sausage and two eggs, and Joe's original request was out, but he ended up going for 2x2x2 with kielbasa. And side of corned beef hash! - one of my faves, and they did it with a perfect crispiness. Very satisfying meal. Lots to choose from in the menu, so good luck with that! read more

A pleasant surprise in my new neighborhood! The pancakes are definitely the highlight of this place! Huge, golden brown, fluffy and reasonably priced. The farmer's omelette was yummy just needed more cheese and my husband had the sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant which wasn't his fav. Home fries were pretty good too! Service was quick and waitstaff has been pleasant. Overall, definitely a repeat establishment. read more

This is my 3rd visit to HBC in the last 5 weeks. It is pretty close to the Lyman Orchards CC. So if your playing 18 this is a great spot for breakfast or lunch score or after your round if you don't want to eat at the course. HBC for breakfast is awesome. The hungry man plate is loaded and delicious. Lots of Meat, 3 eggs, potatoes and a toast choice. How can you go wrong. The place is huge with plenty of tables and booths as well as bar seating. The servers are super nice and can't be more friendly. The food also comes out quickly. read more

This restaurant has such a great vibe to it, right from when I stepped through the door, I could feel such a pleasant atmosphere. My waitresses were amazing, very attentive and friendly, so thank you Hayley and Jill for such a nice experience. I ordered 2 different things from the menu, the Popeye panini and chocolate chip pancakes with over easy eggs. The panini was excellent, a nice warm crunch from the wrap like sandwich. The turkey was fresh as well as the spinach and the cranberry mayo really tied it all together. Definitely would recommend and I'm not a spinach person really, but that added spinach texture was needed for this panini. The chocolate chip pancakes were big, like nearly the size of the plate!! Filled with chocolate chips, the pancakes were dense and delicious. I did really enjoy the fact that the pancakes stayed together when I cut them into bite sized pieces. Really enjoyed this place, food was on point, friendly staff, and very reasonably priced; definitely recommend and I know I'll be back for more. read more

I enjoy going to Huxley's;however, recently the food has decreased in quality. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive to our tables, and the restaurant consistently provides a friendly environment with live music and a family feel. Found this spot from yelp. We were hiking in the area and wanted lunch. It's a really nice place. Service was great. Our server was very friendly and attentive . One of my favorite things was that a guy was playing a piano in the center of the restaurant. I have never seen this before but it was so awesome. I ordered a salad and a chicken cutlet panini. For a long time this was our go to breakfast place. We can always count on the take out to never take more than 10 minutes, and we'd eaten on location a few times as well, although mostly at their old address which I feel had more character even though it was "old." The whole piano and book/library thing was so fun and just doesn't feel the same in their new fancy more modern location. As time went on I've come to realize that there are better places for breakfast near our home. While the pancakes are still delicious, the home fries were never my favorite, and it was always a 50/50 shot if my sunnyside up eggs would be runny or not (even when I asked). It's a bit pricey too. So after many years of our service we've decided to go elsewhere for our weekend breakfast take out. It's not BAD, just basic and pricey. If in a rut I'd go again, but it's not my first choice anymore. read more

New decor- 5 stars Staff - 5 stars Food- lackluster bland. Salad dressings are sad. Salad had wilted spinach and old avacado. Omelet was average but had a greasy bottom and we could figure out why. Bread was dry like it's been sitting in the air for 2 days. Bacon was good. But it's bacon! The pastrami in the Pastrami ruben was sliced in the wrong direction making it tuff. Not one thing was worth going back for. Pianist was good and kept up with the ambient volume of the large crowd. Owner needs sound blockers and sound absorbing panels added. read more

Look, the place is new and has a really cool vibe with a piano player who plays classical and lite jazz while you eat breakfast or lunch on certain days. The food is good - just typical diner fare, haven't had a bad meal yet nor have I had one that stands out either. They have a line of customers waiting every weekend so they must be doing something right, but for me, the averageness of the food doest justify me standing around waiting to get into a cool, hip, new restaurant. My fiancé and I have always loved Huxley's. We even named our cat Huxley after our traditional weekend breakfasts here. Don't judge, he's a beautiful cat. Lol The staff is friendly, food is consistent, theme is cool, and the occasional weekend pianist is a treat. But when they moved across the street to the new building it got 100x better. The new digs is wonderfully spacious. The vintage encyclopedias and other books are still up on industrial style wall shelves. And the grand piano takes center of the room. Food is fast and coffee is fresh and not burnt. I recommend the french toast or blueberry pancakes if you're feeling indulgent. They have healthy options too but breakfast is for pancakes, hah! Wait staff is friendly and efficient even when the place is usually busy! I'm glad the new location didn't change the charm or tradition. read more

Brand new location right across the street from the previous address. Cute family diner. I had the monte cristo with fries, it was good. I ordered my son the French toast that came with 1 sausage kink and 1 egg scrambled, my son ate that in less than 5 minutes(he's a very good eater!) if I knew more or less what the portion was I would've ordered him an adult meal so that was a little disappointing but he did enjoy his food! Waitress could've been a little more attentive, we waited a while for our bill. Pretty decent food and good experience otherwise, prices are reasonable as well. We came on a Sunday mid morning and the parking lot was full so expect busy weekends waiting for a parking spot in their parking lot. What a place. We were traveling from Nova Scotia south to North Carolina when we stopped here for dinner. It was a huge restaurant and despite being packed we were able to be seated immediately. Their menu is extensive and the service was wonderful. We are gluten free and they could handle that easily. You don't usually get options of gluten free bread but they had some! Our breakfast was beautiful. Their homemade Greek yogurt was incredible. Best ever. We will go there any time we can. The ambiance includes having books on shelves. Very welcoming. Do you like hair in your food? When I asked the owner/manager why he allowed some of his wait staff and cooks to have their LONG hair hanging over people's food and not pulled back or covered, his answer was that he had to keep his employees happy. I found that a bit convoluted, that he is more concerned with his employees happiness than his customers well being. I won't be eating there again. Makes me wonder what else he allows? read more

Take this review with a grain of salt as the hostess freely admitted as we walked in the door that the kitchen was understaffed. She didn't even want to sit us when tables were clearly open and cleaned off because of it. If I was going here alone, I would've turned around right there and come back another time, but my folks wanted to try it, so...here we are. Huxley's menu looked promising with a wide variety of options, but the food was average. The home fries that came with the Huxley's Scrambler tasted like they were boiled rather than fried, which was really weird. If not for the avocado slices, the scrambled eggs wouldn't have had any flavor to them. The waitress was really kind to us, though. ...again, they did say upfront that the kitchen was understaffed today, so...maybe when they've got the full crew on hand, maybe then Huxley's is worth the visit. If you pop in and they tell you upfront that the kitchen is understaffed, consider giving it a try another time. read more

Once Huxley's moves to their new location there is a good chance this 4 will turn into a 5. The only criticism I have of the place is the climate control - during cold weather do not sit next to the windows, and plan to keep your jacket on even at the center of the room. The food and service, however, are fantastic. For a very long time I only ordered off the breakfast menu, but recently when I ordered the Waldorf salad with salmon, I was very impressed. The salad itself really had a great ratio of toppings to base, and the salmon was cooked to perfection. The portion was enough to feed me for 2 lunches, which really made me question whether I should start coming here instead of Panera! Whether you're coming here for breakfast or lunch, I highly recommend. read more

Add Huxley's Bookmark Cafe to my "how did I not know about this place sooner" list. I've seen the reviews pop up in my feed, I've seen Groupons come and go, but for some reason never put Huxley's on my list of places to try. We happened to be shopping in the area on a day off during the week and decided to go in for breakfast. Huxley's knows how to do breakfast. We were told to sit wherever we wanted, so we chose a booth by the window. Coffee, water and menus were brought immediately. The two servers were on top of everything. Coffee mugs and water glasses were never empty. The food came 5 minutes after we ordered it, even with a fairly full dining room. This is how a breakfast restaurant should run. Every owner from every other breakfast place in the area should come here and take notes! My husband had a canadian bacon/egg/cheese sandwich on a grilled bagel, it was tasty! His home fries were nice and crispy, how I like them. It's also nice that they give you home fries with the sandwiches, instead of making you add them on as a side. I had a bacon and cheese omelet, which was huge, full of bacon and cheese, and super delicious. My only complaint was that there was way too much butter on the toast, and it was soggy. But I generally don't like butter that much and probably should have ordered dry toast. Easy fix for next time. We will definitely be back! read more

Was going to go to a diner last week before the snow began but our friends suggested we go to Huxley's instead since it was nearby and their go-to breakfast spot. I'd passed by Huxley's several times as I used to work around the corner but never went in. We were seated right away in the relatively large space. It was much more open inside than it would seem from the outside. Service was quick and friendly. The space felt kind of like a diner, but surrounded by books instead of just walls. I was happy with my sandwich and all my friends seemed pleased with their choices as well. Prices were on par with typical diner prices. I'd definitely go back again next time we're meeting up with some friends for lunch. read more

A pretty standard diner type place. The food is good, but not the best. I will say they do a nice job asking for some different things - for example I like 3 egg whites and 1 full egg omelette and they accommodate. I can't give Huxley's a good review. Truly disappointed in their staff. I can't review the food as I didn't get any. Waitress's walking by pretending to be soo soo busy, yet not one would acknowledge us. Sat there for 20 minutes. We were hungry. It was 11:00am. I hate to even put In this part because I would hope they are not racist as my husband is black and I am white. However, it felt like it. I told the man at the register that I was very hurt. And he offered free breakfast. No thanks. You sir as well walked by my table a few times. You saw our menus sitting at the end of the table to advise the waitress we were ready to be served. But it worked out in the end. We ended up at Connie's Kitchen and the food is amazing! I will not be back. You lost a potential returning customer. read more
