While waiting, we enjoyed their complimentary hot masala chai tea. There isn't much indoor seating but they do have outdoor seating in a covered area. Onto the food... the wrap was a bit salty however the curry was lacking flavor. It was more like an average experience in my opinion, but overall, it met our expectations and would say it is one of the few affordable options for Indian food in the area. read more

Nestled on third in a space that looks exactly how a takeout spot should, Chaat Cafe has spent years slinging its naan-wrapped sandwiches and to-go cups of mango lassi to the loyal lunch and dinner crowds that love them. Yes, there are full dishes, tandoori and biryani here, but if you aren't coming for chaat and wraps--the to-go items that the place is built around--then you're dooming yourself to a less-than-ideal experience. Ifran is one of Hillsboro's few culinary geniuses and succeeded here by figuring out where others have failed: Full-service Indian restaurants take time and patience. You either need to run a full buffet, have tiffins packed and ready or come up with a lighter, faster option that your local audience will embrace. The chaat-and-wrap solution is brilliant, and I can't count the number of samosa and tikka-masala-wrap lunches I've had here. But this place really should have a line out the door more often than it does. Dined-in during lunch. Today it snowed so other food venues were either closed or opening late. Got lamb vindaloo ($13) and a mango lassi ($3). Although the lamb vindaloo on its own was good - with a tangy tomato sauce, melt-in your mouth lamb chunks and soft, well done potatoes, portion sizes were small. In comparison to the other Indian restaurants around, I would be able to get double the amount of food for the same price, especially at lunch. The rice was also not fluffy, but chunky. Furthermore, the mango lassi was unpleasant - watery and sweet, lacking any notes of tart. I usually finish all my mango lassis, but this one was just too difficult to finish. Giving this place a 5/5. Been coming to this place for 2 years. One of our fav places to stop by for a quick grub in Hillsboro downtown. Food: the wraps have consistently been good for us especially spicy chicken wrap and seekh kabob wraps. The owner makes it in front of us and it always hits the spot. Customer service: The owner has always been very welcoming and kind. Never experienced any kind of bad customer service from him. The sevice can be a little slow sometimes when too many orders come in and if he's the only one in taking orders and cooking. He's always nice about it and you just have to be a little patient. Environment: It is a small restaurant and could use a few updates. But during the time of Covid, we mostly do take outs. I was so excited to try this chaat place. First time it got closed at 2:30pm. Online time mentioned is 3 pm! Never mind finally got to try it for lunch. I am disappointed as none of the food items stood out for me. 1)Papdi chaat: average preparation. Too much of cold yogurt and bland taste.Just 2 chutneys, potato and papdi with yogurt used. 2)Paneer tikka masala: excessively sweet, too much cream and grease. Fried paneer with no fresh taste. Their chicken tiki masala wrap was delicious and so addicting! The wrap was fried, lots of chicken coated in tiki masala, lettuce coated with a creamy sauce. The combination of flavors make it a mild flavored dish that most would like. And if you're like me and like a kick in flavor, I added hot sauce to make it even more addicting! And their achari chicken curry was a bolder, spicier dish. With huge chunks of tender chicken thigh soaked with vibrant curry spices, this is one of the best curries I've had in a while! Plenty of naan and rice to get you full and last another meal or two. All I've ever had is the Chicken Tikka wrap. It is a fantastic sandwich! It is definitely a step up from it's prior ownership, which was also very good, Chaat Cafe. I've been here with friends who have tried other dishes and they were very happy with their orders, too. I will venture into other areas of the menu at some point, but every time I think I will order something else the wrap calls my name. My only complaint is their use of styrofoam packaging. read more

I had a Pakistani friend I used to work with and he used to bring me pakistani chicken at work. It was always the best days at work when I ate that chicken. When I saw this place in Hillsboro I knew I had to go. My wife described the meal as 10/5 stars and said she didn't want to eat anywhere else again the 30 minutes after consumption. It was quality food. The chicken was juicy and exceptionally cooked, the sauce and spices were flavorful, and the portions were of perfect size. The side dish of rice and bread was also the best I have eaten in the Portland area to date. We will be coming back religiously and trying every dish. Great people work there as a plus. read more

We let it slide last time but tonight my husband called to complain and received an incredibly rude response. I found some trash pieces in the food and when I confronted the cook, his reply was to get some binoculars and find more junk in the food. This is not the way you treat customers. Tried this place on 2 occassions - once for lunch and once for dinner. I tried the Spicy veg kofta curry with Naan during lunch. The curry was spicy but was too oily that it had a whole layer of oil floating on top of it. Not sure why the dish had to be so greasy. Naan was just average. When i went for dinner the second time, tried the Papdi chaat which was very poorly made as the Paapdi was not at all crispy and they added too much potatoes in it. The Paneer wrap was too soggy and the taste of Chutney was too overwhelming. Also, the wrap felt cold as if it had been kept refrigerated. read more

This is my second visit to chaat cafe and it has gone worse. The first time we had I felt food was greasy but then this time food was bland! We had the Paneer roll Bhel puri papadi chaat and chole bhatura! The Bhel puri was dry and bland. The papdi chaat had too much yogurt and bland.
