This company had been servicing this home for years before we bought it. A condensation problem occurred almost instantly which resulted in leaks through the ceiling. We initially called Hyde's and all they recommended was raising the units for greater gravity flow. They blew out the lines and charged $145. Our home warranty assigned a company when leaks returned a few days later and they resolved the issue lickity split. The drain line was kinked and there were two traps when only one was needed. usually only use companies that have been referred to me...so, that's why I used Hyde's in the first place... Wish I would have seen their Yelp rating first... The person who referred them to me has also been notified of their actions & negligence... Hyde's messed up royally... The tech went over & just took a glance at the AC unit without inspecting it and said that we would need a new AC unit all because it was frozen...does that make sense? They didn't bother to actually inspect it when it actually defrosted...they just expected that I was going to spend thousands of dollars after they glanced at the unit & said it needs to be replaced...heck no! What audacity! The thing that really ticked me off was that the technician told my tenants that the AC needed to be replaced & planted that seed in their heads...Fortunately, I have level headed tenants who know that I take care of things promptly when it needs to be taken care of...I was their customer, not my tenants...Hyde's & technician knew this in advance...so, why say something unnecessary to someone not authorized to make decisions??? ...also, I asked them not to come back the next day because they were insistent that the unit needed to be replaced...YET, they still came over the next day & replugged the AC in & caused it to refreeze AGAIN...setting the repair & cleaning job back another day as it took many hours to unfreeze again... WORST EXPERIENCE EVER... Oh, and then the icing on the cake was that they charged my CC on file for that second trip that I told them not to go to.... I should charge them for the inconvenience that my poor tenants had to endure without air for several days! read more

I will admit that from the beginning there was a misunderstanding on the problem and that we are now trying to solve the issues of what is happening with the ducts coming from the unit to my condo. A year and a half ago based on the extremely high recommendations of dear friends, we chose Hyde to install a brand new water heater which they did beautifully and we were thrilled with the results. However 48 hours ago we lost our hot water. The expiration on the warranty for labor on this water heater expired but we desperately needed it turned back, incredulous that a water heater could die in less than 2 years after installation, and of course after labor warranty had expired. So we called Hyde and they sent Jonathan to come and check out the situation in spite of labor warranty being expired. Mike Hyde it has been installed for 8 months and is still not working properly. the new issue is it keep shutting off by itself!!!!! it is over 100 degrees \. there representative refused to send a tech out to fix the unit. First man came out- for the servicing contract we have with Hydes. Told him where in the house did not get enough cooling and showed him the units. After he left still not cooling. Asked that someone else come out from Hydes because I still had the problem. He charged for a visit $109.25 but did nothing to fix the problem. Called Priority who came right out and fixed the problem within the hour by replacing the capacitor which was not working on one of the units. The house Is now cooling as it does when there is no problem. The Hydes serviceman tried to tell me this kind of problem was normal in high heat but having lived in the desert for 35 years I have a good idea of what is normal to expect from air conditioning. I phoned and asked Hydes for a refund of the $109.25 extra I was charged for the second visit. The lady said would have to pass it along and someone would call me between 12-2. The day is over and no one has called. Very unhappy with the sloppy incompetent service and no effort to find the problem which was easily discovered by Priority Air . Hydes needed to agree to a quick refund an apology would have been nice after 2 workers did not adequately look for the problem. read more

We just had four air conditioners installed by Hyde a month or so ago. The inspector came out today and said ALL FOUR were not earthquake-secured. They were poorly installed. Now, we have to call Hyde's and make arrangements for their service people to come out again to bolt them down properly. Very poor installation. read more

My air conditioner suddenly stop working when it was 110 degrees outside. Technician Danny arrived the same day and performed a diagnostic that showed a faulty blower motor. He ordered the part and he came the next day and got my system up and running. Danny was very personable and explained system functions as well as helpful information on ongoing maintenance. I also received a substantial discount on the needed part by being a member of the company's maintenance program for residential air and heat systems. With the excessive area heat, I appreciate and thank Hyde's for the quick response and for having efficient technicians as Danny. read more

$26,000 later, still trying to get heating system working. Good luck communicating with "G.M.", she is not helpful, combative, and definitely NOT a problem solver. Gas company red tagged the entire new three unit system, technicians "fixed the problem" she claims but still no heat 30 days later. G.M. asks why I can't send photos of the red tags because the technicians don't know the problem...... THE RED TAGS ARE TAPED ACROSS THE SYSTEM, so I guess they aren't inspecting the units well. Thank goodness for space heaters from Lowe's, the desert gets pretty cold! Received a call from G.M. this morning to schedule a filter replacement ...... needed to remind G.M. they never installed the filters with new system back in August ... still waiting. This company is full of people who give no communication. They ran my card for $170 without my knowledge. 3 months after they had done a service....Not one person picked up the phone to call me to make sure I had that money in my account for their random charge! I called to cancel and was told there would be an additional fee to cancel. This company is supposedly owned by Christians which is why I originally signed up. $12 a month for 1 filter a year, the biggest waste of money I've ever spent. I just want out of this automatic payment and extra fees but canceling is more expansive than to keep it! Anyone know a loophole so I can dump this company ASAP?! Avoid this company when your A/C goes out. I was told I would have to replace my unit and was quoted a high price and overcharged for freon (they charge $90 dollars a pound while another one charges $50, big difference!). Once the tech left after "fixing" the unit it went out 4 hours later. I called my home warranty (and had to spend even more money) to take a second look at it and all that needed to be done was to clean the coils and tighten a loose connection, something that the Hyde's tech should have caught given the fact that they are "professionals". My unit is perfectly fine and should last me another 5-10 years. I was so disappointed that I canceled my membership that I was paying $15 a month for. Plus they failed to complete my winter service which was included in my membership. I dislike "family companies" that take advantage and overcharge their customers. read more

Horrible experience with this company.. They installed brand new unit almost 2 1/2 years ago and wouldn't you know it unit starting spitting out warm air. We contact company inform them unit still under warranty but of course well have to eat the service charge. They come out say Freon is low and add 2 ponds and wouldn't you know it 5 days later "BAM" same situation. Now they want to throw all types of scenarios at us at a cost I'll need to take a small business loan out with my bank. Contacting my home owners warranty to see if they can assist and maybe guide us in the right direction. And to think I almost fell for the maintenance package with this outfit! I was left disappointed and dissatisfied in my dealings with this company. I had agreed and paid their bill in full. However, I was left not understanding how they calculated their pricing and mark up on parts. The lessons for me were that (1) I should always get a written estimate that I can review and think about rather than making decisions on the spot; and (2) I do not have to lock myself into service plans that continue until terminated, instead of just calendaring the services and keeping my options open. read more

I contacted them to check the a/c unit on a condo of mine. They scheduled quickly and said that the technician would contact me with an estimate as I wouldn't be on site for the appointment. I never received a call with an estimate. I received an email with an invoice for $155 for a 15 min visit to remove a piece of metal that was making noise. When I spoke with manager today she made no attempt to rectify my frustration and was only calling me to verify my email address as they have another customer with similar email and sent her my statement by mistake. Not customer oriented. I would have preferred to have been told that I could have had a bi-annual service for less money than I paid. Will not be doing business with them in future as they are not being honest, just trying to make money, which is understandable but money flows to those who care about the customer. Plus we liked dealing with a family owned, operated and managed company. These types of companies lay their reputation on the line every time they walk into a customers home. Mike was outstanding, great communicator and once we awarded the project went exactly as he described. The installation crew was organized, on time, took great care of our home and we could tell the crew has spent a lot of time working together and enjoyed their work. The quality of the installation was impeccable. A big part of our selection of Hydes was reviews in social media plus we see their vehicles more than any other company in our community and have never heard anything negative about them in our HOA. (Another) company who's done work in our home for many years never called us back as promised, and their reviews in social media reflect our experaince with them the past few years. We called Hyde for a/c tune up, as part of the IID customer promotion. We were scheduled for a tech to come out in just a couple days. The service tech, James, arrived on time and was very nice. He got to work immediately, explaining what he was doing at each step. He was quiet and efficient, and very pleasant. James checked all equipment, inside and out. He cleaned up all tools and left us with the paperwork and told us to call if there were any problems. I would not hesitate to use Hyde HVAC service again! read more

Thursday June 27, 2019. I had been using Hyde's Air Conditioning services for about five years, a contractor from Indio. I was satisfied with their services and they seemed to be very honest. My system has been working without fault but today they stopped by for a routine service at my request at 10:00 am. After his inspection, the technician stated that the system required three pounds of freon and an inspection which would total over $500.00. I smiled and asked him not to proceed. I paid him the $89.00 service fee for his visit. Minutes later I received an email with a proposal for a "Precision Tune-up" which included the freon for a total of $453.00. I immediately contacted another company who stopped by at 2:00 pm. Upon inspection of the system I was told it was working at 100%. I asked if it required freon or a tune-up and I was told nothing was required, simply a $65.00 service charge. I contacted Hyde's Air Conditioning and asked to speak with a manager. I informed him that up to this time I had been very satisfied with their services but was perplexed with today's service. I informed him that I contacted another company who serviced the unit and found it to be in perfect running order. Before I could finish, he became very angry and said he did not like being accused of dishonesty and hung up the phone. Apparently at Hyde's Air Conditioning they don't like customers brining up concerns. They certainly don't have good customer service so from this point forward they have lost my business. read more

Bought the Maintenance Service Plan they offer for $100, two services (Fall & Spring)... Had a tech come out recently to SERVICE our unit and he told us we had a freon leak because the freon was low. He also said for $645 we could have it tested, but he was certain there was a leak... We asked him to send us a price on possibly replacing unit and the air ducts. Came back with $6K bid... We didnt feel right about this guy (the tech), so we had another company come out to give us a price on same and to "check the freon levels." What he said was that the caps were off the pipes that the freon is in, none there, which he kindly replaced at no cost (had extras in his truck) and the freon level was fine and didnt appear to have any leaks! Now I would have to assume that when the Hyde Technician was here to do the maintenance on machine he SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THOSE PARTS, but he did not. So disappointed! We will not be using Hyde again and I will be calling Hyde to let them know this & hoping I get a refund on my second maintenance. If not I prefer to forfeit rather than having them come out and try to upsell me on stuff! NO NO NO! DO NOT RECOMMEND read more

I have been a Comfort Plan member of this company for several years. They provide top of the line service and are always friendly, helpful, and communicative. They know what they are doing when it comes to heating and cooling. My most recent case with Hydes--the air went out in the second week of the hot season. It was 4 pm, so I knew it was going to a long night. I called and they said they would have somebody between 6 and 8. At 5:45, Michael the owner came to my door. He was out before 645, after diagnosing the problem and fixing everything. My air is running smoothly again. Let me say that again. On a hot day, the owner came out to complete jobs so customers wouldn't have to wait as long. Pretty awesome, I say. read more

Hyde's is really one of the best managed, best customer-service oriented companies of any kind in the desert. From the first time you call - if you are so lucky to think of calling them - they help you right away and see you through - in July 2017, it must have been one of the hottest days and the AC conked out - we had company visiting from out of town and as it was in the evening, we decided to go to a hotel (Hilton Gardens Inn in Rancho Mirage), were able to get two rooms and cooled off finally. We called Hyde's and left a message before we left the house. They called early the next morning and had someone arranged to come over before 11 am. Anyway, since then we have called Hyde's to do the yearly check up and make other repairs as needed (older AC). The reason I decided to go back on here this evening is that I needed one of the invoices that I was going to scan and make a pdf of it (I am sure Hyde's must have given it to us way back in 2017, but I misplaced it) - I called Hyde's late this afternoon, Tina answered and she was able to quickly e-mail the pdf of that invoice - then my scanner wasn't working and I called back to ask if she could e-mail pdf's of the other three invoices, which she did. It was just so impressive the way Tina was able to quickly answer my question and help me - so "on the ball" - a very sharp young lady but nice, too. Hyde's has really great people! I have been using this company since 2015 and was very satisfied with their service until now. Their overcharge on parts is unbelievable. I am disputing my service contract with them now for the $145.00 I paid 7 days before. I suggest you look elsewhere for service. They charged me $165.00 for a capacitor you can buy for $38.00 and watch several videos on YouTube as to how simple they are to install. BTW the price for the capacitor was $194.00 before my discount. I am 81 and I feel like I've been ripped off as a senior, I hope they are not taking advantage of elderly people. Hydes technician, Jeff, came at 5:30PM on a Saturday (day before Easter) and looked at my AC unit which had stopped cooling that morning. He found the unit was flat with freon. He was able to refill and get my system up and running in about an hour. He was an honest and straightforward representative of the company. He explained that it is likely there is a leak in the system, and if so, this recharge would only last until it leaked out again. I understood and asked for the charge anyway, as my animals could not tolerate the 100° heat until a leak was fixed or a new system installed. Jeff was also able to give me quotes on a new system for my house, both the equivalent to what I have as well as an appropriately-sized system for my square footage. It should be noted that there was no "emergency charge" or "double-time/overtime" billing from this company, even though my request was for evening service on the weekend. In looking for someone to fix this problem, I called two other vendors, only one of which returned my call even though they advertised 24/7 service. The one that did return my call would have wanted more than double what I ended up paying Hydes. I know there are some negative reviews here, but anyone who follows me, or reviews my history on yelp, will know that I am not someone who easily exaggerates on good and fair service. I will seriously consider Hydes as I make the decision to install a new system in the coming weeks. read more
