Service was good and the price was reasonable. The associates were very helpful and willing to help if you had a question.

My wife and I learned they had bottomless Mimosas, so we thought we'd try them out. It was the only thing they got right. Our food took almost 40 minutes. When we got it, it came with no silverware, no napkins, no salt and pepper. We had to ask for all. It was incomplete, coming without my pancakes. We had to ask for my wife's fruit three times. The food itself? Her pancakes were already cold, and got colder waiting for the syrup, which was also served cold. About 1/2 way through my meal, I bit into an 8 inch hair! I called the manager over and asked it to be taken away. I was so over it by this time I just wanted to go. Here's the worst part. They quietly took my meal off the check, but no one apologized. Horrible service, dirty buffet line. No fruits or veggies on a buffet line. Donut holes for pastries. Zero service, salt and pepper shakers are empty. Cold tasteless food with the exception of bacon. We didn't regularly go to the HyVee Market Grille in Liberty but did enjoy it occasionally. A few days ago we stopped by and when we walked in, the first thing I noticed was no host at the door. Walking in, we saw some patrons seated in different locations and we stood around a few minutes trying to figure out what was going on. No one offered assistance so I went to the bar area where I was able to ask a server about the process. She said full service was in the bar area but in the "dining area," we needed to go to the deli area, order our food and receive a number, then return to our table to have our food brought to us when ready. Absolutely worst dining experience in decades! No fewer than 5 different employees walk by my table sixteen different times, and finally I received coffee after 20 minutes. However, it didn't matter as the coffee was full of coffee grounds...and nobody came by to check on me. I placed a simple order... and after 20 more minutes...nothing! Management should take a strong look at this grill, as nobody was receiving service in a timely fashion. As there was nobody to return to my table, I simply got up and left. Never did I get as much as a sip of coffee. HyVee... I know you are better than this. As an Iowa based company, I know you set the bar higher. Solid breakfast menu with standard offerings including eggs Benedict, omelettes and pancakes. We haven't been here for lunch or dinner, but the happy hour looks interesting also with half price apps and draft beers. All the ingredients un our meals have been fresh, and the one complaint would be slow service. The three times we've come, it's been fairly slow, but not outrageously so. In terms of the food, the bacon is of nice quality, thick cut. The whole grain toast is thick, fresh bread. Prices are on par with chain breakfast options. read more

Went to the Market Grill in Liberty with a friend who had previously eaten there and he told the story that on one visit he ordered the Salmon and he was told they were out. In a grocery store? But they said they only serve fresh and all they had in the store was frozen. Well okay. So on this visit, I kid you not, he ordered green beans...you guessed it! My thought was go open a can, go back to the freezer section or at least check produce for fresh. Someone should tell the Market Grill Manager there is a food supplier within walking distance. Hy-hopes for the HyVee Market Grille. We were not disappointed. It was delicious. The service was excellent, and we were so pleased with our server. She was fantastic. On Wednesdays they do half price bottles of wine, which if you're going to pay 7 or so bucks for a glass of wine might as well pay a couple more and get the full bottle. You can even have them bag up the bottle and reseal it so you can take it home if you do not finish it. They serve complimentary bread which is delicious. My husband ordered the asian for one combo, and his general chicken was delicious. It came with fresh veggies that were crisp and not soggy. I had the alfredo with grilled veggies, again the veggies were crisp and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of vegetarian options there were, and the amount of options in general. Everything was so good. They also offer cheesecake factory cheesecakes, and we were able to enjoy some one of those. Although I highly recommend their carrot cake, it is to die for. read more

Updates review: January 19,2109-I went there yesterday for diner and was very disappointed. I ordered the blackened shrimp tacos and they came out cold. The rest of my party had sea scallops and fries which came out alright. I had to wait for them to recook mine and got them when my other party had already finished. When I got the new order, the shrimp was warm but the rest of the taco was also completely hot including the diced lettuce and tomatoes. Their usually is the contrast between the hot and cold that makes this appealing. Needless to say, the kitchen isn't paying attention to the quality of what is coming out and must lack experience with seafood. The most disappointing part was the fact that they didn't compensate us in any form for the inconvenience until I asked to speak to a manager. The manager then took the tacos off of the bill. She could clearly see I didn't eat hardly any of them and I told them they were not good. Prior review: HY-Vee Market Grill. Impressed... great food and value for breakfast. Relaxed atmosphere and no long waits. Friendly waitress and you don't feel like just a number. I had the French toast and omelet. The French Toast looked like it came out of a brochure and was awesome. The omelet was made with fresh ingredients and veggies. I'll be back. read more

What happened to this restaurant?? This used to be one of my favorite places in Liberty, and now I doubt I will ever return. Went in early evening on a Monday. The only greeting I received was a sign that said "please seat yourself", so obviously we did. We sat at a booth for 10 minutes until I went to track down an employee, despite having 3 of them make direct eye contact with me and saying nothing. I was told that we would have to sit on the bar side for service. Cool, thanks for the heads up! The only open booth had a dirty table and a stack of menus that were all stuck together with syrup. Had to ask for a towel to wipe the table. I'm getting hungry now! A server shows up with a couple waters (one of which had a piece of dirt or something floating in it) and asks if we'd like anything else to drink. We had no menus to view drinks with so we then waited for those. After we placed our drink order we were asked if we wanted to order food, which we did. Apparently this restaurant doesn't offer full menu service anymore because all we had to choose from after the waitress peeled apart the syrup covered "menus" were a handful of bar items. Not what I came here for. We left really confused about our experience. We had been their several times in the past and every aspect about our visits was incredible, the food, the service, the atmosphere, the price, everything. So what happened? Did you just give up? Did you get new management? Whatever the reason, you should know what a major disappointment this has become. read more

Second Sunday in a row here for a meal amd to watch NFL ticket. Specials are a great price but two weeks in a row with raw meat in tje middle of our burgers. Last week the server said the cook believes the meat thermometer was not working yet he still sent out our burgers with blood running on the plate when they were ordered well done. Same result this week. Need a new thermometer or cook. Wants to be a restraunt but in reality is just a self service joint. Too bad, the palce is clean, nice and friendly just clueless as how to function. read more

I am not a picky eater, but so far, everything I have tried here has been pretty awful. I tried their brunch burger, and the Texas toast had no flavor, along with a sponge-like texture. Awful. The burger was dry and flavorless. I ordered it medium, the burger had no pink in it though. I fed it to the dog at home. I requested the egg(s) be over easy, but they were both hard. Again, no flavor to them. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted like they came from a box mix of instant potato flakes. Little flavor to those either. The hash browns were advertised as crispy, but they were so dry and brittle they bordered on burnt. The pancake-batter dipped bacon tasted like stale bacon dipped in breading. At least it had some flavor, even if it was chewy and cold rather than crisp and warm. Overall, the three times we have tried this place, we have been very disappointed. I will pass next time. I have given up on getting a good meal from HyVee, unfortunately. Their breakfast buffet is good but expensive. read more

We have been here three times now and we've had a different experience each time. Today I ordered the eggs Benedict. It was good and only $7. Most places seem to have that breakfast for about $9. It was good, the eggs were poached well and the English muffins had a good texture and were not over toasted. The sauce was good and just the right blend of tangy that I like. I had a side of fruit which was all fresh. My husband had the hash browns and they were cold in the middle and uncooked. I also did the bottomless mimosas which were $9. The service has been pretty slow each time we have gone and they weren't very busy. Took awhile to place our orders and get our mimosas. All in all not bad and convenient if you have to go to the grocery store afterwards, but a little slow so allow some time. read more

I went shortly after the opened and ordered Triple Delight for the Asian meal. I got Mongolian Beef, so I asked for my Triple Delight and got it with just beef which made it Single Not-S Delight. But they gave the the Single and finally gave me the Triple Delight. Then they comped my bill. So Now I go and have the $10 Asian Meal with Triple Delight, egg drop soup, egg roll and I enjoy the freshly cooked meat and vegetables every time. Service is always great. read more

My first visit to the new restaurant and bar in the HyVee. I went all out and ordered the Filet because literally everything is almost the same price so if I'm paying that kind of money for dinner, I'm going for steak. I mean, if it's between a burger or a couple more bucks for steak, I'm doing steak. So, with that being said, I ordered the 5oz steak with broccoli and everything presented to me was cooked as I ordered and was pleasantly delicious. The cocktails were strong (I ordered the Barrel Maker and Blackberry Muddle) and made well. Overall, totally pleased and I know I'll be back - well done HyVee! read more

My husband and I love eating here. The food is always super fresh and we have never had anything less than the friendliest service. I politely disagree with other reviewers here. The service may be slightly slow occasionally, but it's a nice restaurant, sit down and enjoy yourself! And happy hour deals are amazing. We are obsessed with the wings! read more

We decided to try the Market Grille for a quick lunch before an appointment. We arrived and were seated at about 1:20. A pleasant and chatty waitress made her recommendations, took our order and brought our drinks all by 1:30. By 1:45 she returned to the table and stated "You all can sit here all evening, we are open until 11". and she refilled our drinks. ( I guess I should have asked about the food). By 2 PM she sashayed by our table to seat the only other customers in the restaurant, at which time I asked "Could you tell me how our lunch is coming?" She gave me the deer in the headlight look and said "Food...OMG". "The computer must have wiped off your order". At this point , we just said "That's ok, we don't have time to wait". She gave us 3 coupons, the coffee and diet coke on the house and we left with our rumbly bellies. I will bring my outspoken 14 yr old son in when I use the coupons, but that will be the only time I will go in to the market grille. read more

We love shopping in the grocery store but we're extremely disappointed in the grille. The only really good thing we ordered was the regular cheeseburger. We ordered the fried fish tacos. There was very little fish in each taco. The salsa was ok but there was a sauce or dressing that was very sour and bitter. I only could eat half of my meal. The sweet potato fries were okay. The regular fries were very greasy and soggy. I ate three. There was pistachio ice cream listed on a the menu and when the waitress brought it, she even said she didn't think it was pistachio. It tasted like apples and It had apples on top of the ice cream. They took it back and didn't charge us. The waitress was good and nice but the food was VERY overpriced for the quality. Decided to try out the "new" place in town. Had a $10 off coupon on a $30+ bill - you need to know that you can't use the coupon if you order a daily special! Anyway, ordered the crab dip with pita chips ($10). It's a large order of dip and chips. Not sure what I expected but it was bland. Don't think I'll order it again. For dinner my husband and I tried 2 separate dishes that we split. He ordered the 10 oz sirloin special ($10 on Saturday). It was a thick cut of meat but I felt it had too much pepper. I ordered the smothered chicken served on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. The chicken was smothered in Gouda, fried onions and sautéed mushrooms. It was tasty and juicy. The mashed potatoes were good, but if you like garlic, I didn't taste any garlic. Both of us had broccoli for our second side. It was good-not mushy. Finally, bread is served with dinner. It was good - looked like it was a whole wheat popover-had the texture of a croissant. It was good. read more
