Lexie the bartender is the best! She is friendly and quick on her feet. The service is outstanding and the food is great! I ordered the half price sushi on Wednesday and it was perfect. Met a guy named Curtis who is a gentleman and scholar at the corner of the bar who enjoyed a drink or two with me. Two hours later I left, full and satisfied. Curtis, the guy at the bar even offered to step outside with me to walk me to my car.

I hadn't been here for awhile and I see why I wouldn't come here, Hy-Vee was having a special so I stop in but they did do it, I notice a sign more than half the market grille do not advertise about this business, so I went into the grille, no beer special but the other place do for happy hour that didn't bother me, I told the bartender I see u have a sign up, finally, I was told this was the only market grille left, I said 119 and 151 was still market grille plus Shawnee too, the bartender/manager wouldn't listen to me so I drank my beer, I don't see how this place make it, two customers in at 4 pm, the person wasn't polite, parking lot full but customers don't come in, Now the others place has people shop and come in to have a drink or other way around, I have never meet a unfriendly person at a market grille at all until now. I would avoid this place at all

All this for just $8 at HyVee's Market Grille in Mission, KS on Sushi & Wine Special Day!

This may sound crazy, as this isn't the kind of place a food and restaurant enthusiast would typically go for, but HyVee's Market Grille in Mission, KS, has a lot going for it! The hours are great (Sun-Thurs 6 AM-10 PM, Fri-Sat 6 AM-11 PM), especially for someone who likes to eat at odd (and all) hours! It is clean, attractive, and more upscale than I would have expected, with tables that can be put together for groups, and very comfortable booths, several of which will easily accommodate 6 people with no crowding. There are several large TV screens, but no annoying sound (at least not when I was there), just CC. You can order online for carryout. The menu is more extensive, varied AND tempting than I expected (https://www.hy-veemarketgrille.com/store/), prices are very reasonable, the wait staff was excellent (friendly, just attentive enough, knowledgeable...or quickly got answers if they didn't know something...and helpful with menu selections), and the daily specials are really good deals...for example... On one of my spur-of-the-moment trips to the grocery store for "one last thing" for a recipe, a sign inside the doors caught (grabbed) my eye: "1/2 Price Sushi and 1/2 Price Bottles of Select Wine" (dine-in only). Sign me up! I got two sushi rolls (10 pieces each, Tuna & California) for $8, and both were quite good. And because it was also Happy Hour, I almost added an appetizer because some were, for some reason, 1/2 price, but hey, it was only me! I was sorely tempted by the dessert menu too, and I am really picky about desserts. They have a full, well-stocked bar, and at Happy Hour (2-6 PM daily), you get $2 draft beers, $3 craft beer bottles, $4 mixed drinks, $5 glasses of wine, and $6 flatbread pizzas. So, I COULD have added an entire flatbread pizza and a glass of wine to my sushi order, and still have gotten out of there for just $19 (before tip)! They COULD have just rolled me to my car, too! Even though I checked the "$11-$30" price range on the review, each person could easily eat there for less than $10 with specials and Happy Hours. I talked with a couple in the next booth who had eaten there several times, and said it was consistently good. They especially recommended the buffet (11 AM-8 PM daily), where you select from all the offerings in HyVee's open-window fresh-food displays inside the store area (American, Italian, and Asian cuisines), as well as from the self-serve salad and dessert bar. Sorry, I can't remember the price, but I do remember being pleasantly surprised. And they serve a Sunday Brunch! So, this place is right in my neighborhood, open early and late, is budget-friendly, and my first foray was altogether great! We'll see how it holds up over time, since it had only recently opened.

Rueben with fries - $11 worth of disappointment.

My whole review can be summed up in one word: meh. In the past we've enjoyed our food here and this is the only reason I'm giving them 2 stars. They've been steadily going downhill for awhile now. After tonight's meal I don't think we'll be back. This location has recently converted to a Market Grille Express. You now order at a counter outside of the restaurant. The menu has been condensed from when this place was a full service restaurant. (Ignore the older menu photos you see for this location. They are no longer accurate.) After placing your order you enter the restaurant and fill your drinks and grab your napkins and silverware. They give you a number to place on your table so they know where to bring your order, but after that you really won't see any servers again. The bar is still there, so they still have alcohol. The food tonight was mediocre at best. I had the Rueben and my husband had a patty melt, both served with fries. The sandwiches were both over toasted. Not burned, but just extra crunchy and surprisingly flavorless. There wasn't much meat on the sandwich, which was okay because it was too salty and greasy. The fries were overly brown like they were overdone, but they weren't crispy at all. So glad we didn't waste money on an appetizer tonight. Honestly any fast food restaurant would have been a better and cheaper option for dinner tonight. So, there's got to be something good about this place right? It can't all be negative. The staff was friendly during our brief interactions with them. The place is clean and I've always liked the look of the Market Grilles. It's also nice they are located in HyVee. It's a great idea, but not well executed. Hope they can find a way to make these Market Grilles work. Until they make some changes we will be going elsewhere.

For our drinks we orders 'Have a Cigar' and a low sugar mocktail they created for me. Both were made very well and were super refreshing. For our mains, we ordered, 'Black Cardamon Burnt ends', 'Tandoori Chicken' and 'Smash burger with peri peri fries' and for desert we ordered the parle g mango ice-cream' sandwich with some aromatic chai. My most favorite dish out of all were the burnt ends - they had a superb fusion flavor of Indian spices which went well with the meat and paired well with the grits. Trust me when i say this that i would eat this everyday for the rest of my life if i could. The smash burger and peri peri fries were excellent and definitely hit the spot. The real disappointed was with Tandoori chicken. I felt the chicken did not pair well with the sambar risotto and the fried okra even though it tasted good, was an after thought. The rice in the risotto was very grainy and undercooked. I told that to our server and they instantly apologized and acknowledged the issue and also proceeded to remove the dish from our bill. After that the chai was very warm and comforting and the parle g ice-cream biscuits were nostalgic and a great way to finish the meal. While not every dish was perfect, i love the excellent customer service they provided and the way the owner/manager/staff handled our feedback. I will be back to try more food here - 5/5.

We were seated on time at a table next to the bar-side of the dining room. Speaking of the dining room, it's a nice, if standard size for a strip-mall space, but I really appreciated that the tables were not stacked on top of each other, as seems to be the case at more and more places these days. It felt like there might be some chance of our entire conversation not being completely overheard by our neighbors, which was nice for a change! Our waitress was fantastic! She walked us through the menu, the restaurant's approach to cooking and seasonality, some of her faves, and made wonderful recommendations! We decided to split a few small plates, which was a great approach! We got to try about 1/3 of the small plate menu, and loved it all! It was all great, but the Black Cardamom Burnt Ends are NOT to be missed! It made my cardamom-loving, Midwest soul very, very happy indeed! The space is a really nice size - not massive or overwhelming - and with the shades drawn down (to seal out the late afternoon sun, thank goodness!) and dim lighting, the mood vibes were solid for a romantic anniversary dinner! The other ambiance item of note is that the restroom corridor smelled absolutely fantastic! Upon investigation, it was due to a burning candle from a lovely local-KC company that was custom made for the restaurant! Yes, they're for sale, and yes, we picked up two! While everything was lovely and the food was very good, you're definitely paying a high price for it. Not that it's not deserved, but the "value" feels aren't necessarily "off the charts", by any means. And that is really my only critique, if there is any at all! Food = 5/5 Facility = 4/5 Service = 5/5 Ambiance = 4/5 Value = 3/5

It's a lovely restaurant. It seems a bit out of the way with mostly corporate buildings around. The restaurant has a nice modern aesthetic. I like the purple hyacinths hanging from the ceiling in one area. It was very steady for an off time in the afternoon. First, our server Olivia was amazing! Very attentive and we were extra needy this day so I really appreciate her patience. We even dropped food on the floor. Oops! She was so nice about it and cleaned it up immediately. We had customizations and extra requests. No problem for her! She went above and beyond. I hope she sees this because she was such a joy! The food was also very good. We started with the biscuits and one peach compote and one blueberry. Both were yummy. They were traditional drop biscuits and I love a good biscuit! We also had an order of fried green tomatoes on goat cheese grits. You get 4 very large slices. I could only eat one. The grits were yummy but there were not enough of them in relation to the friend green tomatoes. They were also encased by a sauce. I'm guessing a remoulade. I don't really care for remoulade sauce so I'd have removed it had I known it came with the dish. It really overpowered the goat cheese taste in the grits. The tomatoes were very al dente and I would have preferred them cooked a bit more. The dish was still good but my least favorite and I would normally love anything with those ingredients and fried green tomatoes are a favorite so the remoulade (or whatever it was) sauce was a real problem for me. I would definitely get them again without the sauce because they are great otherwise. But that sauce just overpowers every other flavor! I got the chicken tender dinner and others in my party got the bone in fried chicken. Everyone liked their chicken. The tenders were a big size. 4 of them but I hit 2 meals out of them. Everyone liked the Parmesan rosemary potatoes. I really liked the bacon green beans. The only side we weren't impressed with was the Mac and cheese unfortunately. The cheese was not good. We got coffees and a chai. All of them were very good. A bit pricey for the amount you get though. Even with the smaller complaints, I'd still give th a 5 because of the outstanding service and the dishes were overall very good and large portions. We will definitely return and I hope to try out a breakfast item next visit!

We hit the club for brunch with a group, and while the ambiance was pure "Country Club Chic," the execution was a bit more "Sunday Morning Sand Trap." The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.

For dinner we shared a wedge salad, their mashed potatoes, asparagus (a must!), and their tomahawk steak! Instead of doing three separate steaks we did the one and it was a perfect size for all of us to share! The steak was tender and well seasoned, mashed potatoes creamy, and the asparagus was prepared in a way we hadn't had before - highly recommend! We also had their dessert lemon meringue pie and coconut cream pie! Really really good! Wine options: amazing! Bourbon options: classy! We couldn't give it five stars for two main reason: 1. We made a reservation for 7pm, arrived and check in at 6:50 and still had to wait just over 30 minutes to be seated. We learned that walk-ins had been seated ahead of us so we needed to wait for some tables to leave before we could be seated. This was a bit surprising. We understand waiting a few minutes, but 30 min is not okay. 2. The sweet server assisting us for dinner was in training and we learned from her "trainer" that she wouldn't be getting any of the tips from our dinner. Additionally, the "trainer" came over around 830 to tell us that although it was only three of us that gratuity is automatically included. Very odd that we were told these things during our meal. The server being trained should absolutely get a portion of the tips - we hope restaurant management reconsiders their policy on this especially since we hardly saw her "trainer". We normally tip over the 20% but because the trainer didn't get any of our tips, we opted to not increase the tip that was automatically charged to us. All in all really classy restaurant and food was delicious! We'll be back for sure!

The space was nice and clean, but unfortunately, the service and the "famous" main course didn't quite deliver a stellar performance. Our table was split--some wanted dinner, some wanted dessert. This apparently threw our waiter into a state of deep existential confusion. The Food: I ordered their "famous" fried chicken, customizing it to three thighs (which came with homemade pickles and a fantastic ham gravy). For $24, it wasn't bad, but it's definitely not "famous" for flavor--maybe just famous for the price tag. Honestly, I could have filled up at Popeyes for a fraction of the cost. Surprisingly, the absolute star of my meal was the side of sautéed mushrooms. It came with little pearl onions, shallots, and green peas. I topped it with some of my friend's arugula to make it fancy, and it was delicious. The Service (or lack thereof): Here's where it went downhill. The dessert order became a saga. Those who ordered sweets expected them to arrive with the mains, but we had to ask several times just to get them toward the end of the meal. By the end, our waiter seemed completely frustrated with our existence. He aggressively boxed up the remaining desserts and semi-forcefully shoved the credit card machine into our faces to shuffle us out the door. Great mushrooms, aggressive math at the end. Proceed with caution.

The gravy was great with chunks of sausage. The top of the biscuit was very good as well but not sure what happened to the bottom as it was almost impossible to cut. The same thing happened with the English muffin on the Benedict's. My GF couldn't cut the bottom slice. But all still very good. Will definitely be back to try dinner.

The ambiance alone makes this place so special and perfect for a romantic evening. We started with cocktails and a few appetizers, and everything was absolutely delicious. The focaccia bread was fresh and flavorful, and the oysters, lamb ribs, and shrimp cocktail were all outstanding. You can really tell the quality and care that goes into every dish. The fig and burrata salad was a highlight definitely a must-try and the chestnut soup was warm, rich, and comforting. For our entrées, we had the filet mignon and seafood cavatelli, both cooked perfectly and full of flavor. What truly stood out, though, was the service. The owners personally came by each table, which made the experience feel so welcoming and genuine. It's those thoughtful touches that really elevate a dining experience. We ended the night with dessert, and it was the perfect way to wrap up an already incredible evening. Everything from start to finish exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend for a date night or special occasion we will absolutely be back! Follow on Instagram and TikTok to see video review - @Neyanventures

The buffet was beautifully arranged with an impressive variety of options. There was everything from classic breakfast favorites to carved leg of lamb, prime rib, salmon, shrimp cocktail, fresh salads, vegetables, and an incredible selection of desserts. My absolute favorites were the smoked white cheddar mac & cheese and the biscuits and gravy--they were so delicious I went back for seconds! I also appreciated that they offered plenty of choices for guests with vegetarian and gluten-free dietary needs, making it easy for everyone to find something to enjoy. Overall, it was a great Father's Day brunch with great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I'd definitely come back for another special occasion.

I've been to Ya Yas Bistro at least a dozen times, and this isn't a "three strikes and you're out"…read moresituation--but they need to know about this experience because it was a clear miss. During our meal, our server accidentally spilled two full Diet Pepsis directly onto me--soaking my clothes, running down my legs, and into my shoes. Accidents happen, and I stayed calm and simply moved my family (including my wife, young son, and in-laws) to another table so we could continue the meal. What was surprising was what didn't happen next. No manager ever came over to apologize, check on the situation, or acknowledge what happened. There was no effort to make it right in any way. At the end of the meal, we were still charged the full amount without any mention of the incident. I'm not looking for handouts--but some basic recognition that I was sitting there in cold, soaked pants for the rest of my dinner and the drive home would have gone a long way. I don't expect perfection, especially at a place I've returned to many times, but I do expect basic customer service and accountability--particularly when something this disruptive happens. The lack of response from management was the most disappointing part. I hope this is taken as constructive feedback, because this experience was far below the standard I've come to expect here.
